As of today, 9/12/2020, the book is only available for preorder. So no one in the public can give it a proper review because its not available yet. Do you not find it odd, however, that Silvianna https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4... gave it 1 star AND she leaves zero comment. I find people that do this sort of thing to have zero credibility and very low character. Think about it. She goes around and gives books 1 star just because she does not like their politics. This person has zero integrity.

Am generally a conservative, but this is a 90 page rant without a single citation. If the purpose is to whip the reader into a frenzy, that reader would have to already believe all the claims Nunes makes. If the purpose is to try to sway anyone on the fence or who has an opposing viewpoint - good luck, I guess.

Wow. All Americans need to read this concise and timely “booklet” as the Democrats (helped by media outlets) lead our country away from freedom and toward socialism. What a tragedy that so many Americans are falling for it.

The Leftists are coming! The Leftists are coming!
Well, actually they're already here, and barely operating in the shadows anymore. Like the proverbial camel getting its nose under the tent - if the camel were a sort of hydra with an infinite number of heads oozing thru every opening it could find - they're looking for every opportunity to grasp power & permanently consolidate their hold on it.
Too hyperbolic? Sadly, though I wish that were the case, it's not really.
This 90-page pamphlet or booklet has just 5 chapters fairly concisely warning of the Left's Trojan horse triumvirate: the DNC, the mainstream media & social media (personally, I would lump the last 2 into the broad category of media & add higher education as the 3rd, but Nunes does include education in his explication of the socialist disinformation campaign). And elaborating on how they control the information, or more accurately disinformation (propaganda) flow.
This is not a pro-Trump booklet, but a pro-American one. As Chapter 1 "Outside the Swamp" explains, there are powerful forces out there looking to fundamentally transform our nation into one that our Founding Fathers not only wouldn't recognize, but would have soundly rejected - because they knew history well enough, especially with their having lived at the time of the French Revolution, to know the consequences of such thinking, regardless of how good the intentions of the usefully duped populace might have been.
Congressman Devin Nunes is sounding the alarm because there is precious little time remaining for our Republic. The Neo-Marxists who have overtaken the DNC are promising to transform our country & have already tipped their hands on the stark difference between what that will actually look like vs their empty promises.
Nunes knows what it's like to be in the crosshairs of the Neo-Marxists, and their willingness to sacrifice anyone for their cause (except their own selves, of course). Because of that, it's not overly surprising that several of the illustrations of his point in this booklet come from his own experiences with the machinations of that triumvirate.
To quickly summarize the rest:
Chapter 2 "Collusion Delusion" outlines how the investigation into Russian attempts to influence the election (which has long been the case not just for Russia, but also China, Iran & others) was "transmogrified" into the alleged collusion - now proven to be a complete fabrication, yet many people still have no idea - to elucidate the extent to which the Left is willing to go to accomplish its goals
Chapter 3 "The Fake News Complex" connects the dots between the various frivolous ethics charges brought against Nunes, & made so much of by certain media groups, back to the individuals who were behind the manufactured Steele Dossier who had vowed to get back at him. He goes on to compile a list of some of the more egregious, recent examples of likewise inexcusable media manipulation.
Chapter 4 "The Disinformation Funnel" describes how social media, specifically Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, & Instagram, function as the Left's message distribution centers. They're working to insure that the correct info is propagated & doing their best to choke off the undesirable sources.
Chapter 5 "Information Desert" holds California up as the example of what the Left did to Nunes's home state. We can readily extrapolate their fate to our country as a whole.
Many of us already have a pretty good idea of these efforts, but purportedly some 55% of the public never sees/hears any info that contradicts the Left's narratives. It's up to us to try to share it, PERSUASIVELY not aggressively, with any who profess to love this country.

I read this book after the election and find that many of the things the book warned about have come to pass, and much quicker than I would have thought possible. My family escaped from a communist country in the late 60's. Before escaping, the propaganda and "news" we received was all one sided, with no room for discussion. This book gives details on how that has been happening here, and not just in the last 4 years. The book details how many of the damaging things that have been reported over and over against a political party have been proven to be false. Yet the media has not given a retraction, it actually still repeats them as fact. And of course hides, or glosses over anything damaging to their narrative. That is not news. That is propaganda. The worst part is if you refute what is being said, even with facts, you are labeled a white supremacist or racist, or both. This book shows how as the government gets bigger and our freedoms get smaller we are headed in a collision course towards socialism, if not communism.
I would also encourage all Californians to read the last chapter about the water shortage. It's an eye opener.

This is a short broadside addressing some of the shifts in our political landscape. It examines the effects of media and social media on the way citizens receive information and engage politically. Although it is lacking in direct citation, Nunes does pull from personal experience on various committees using his experiences as a primary source for the discussion. I would say that this is a starting place and anyone interested in finding out more detailed information regarding the instances he discusses could then conduct proper research of their own. This is meant as an impetus to guide people to seek a more balanced political society and to be aware at the ways in which propaganda is alive and thriving in the United States.

A fairly basic primer for someone who has only followed the biased MSM for the past 4 years as to what is really going on, but if you’ve read some of the investigative reporters on their blogs or social media platforms, you would already know how all this often made up propaganda is being funneled into the mainstream and taken as truth by the majority of the population who are too lazy to think for themselves and let themselves be deceived into accepting the first step in advancing from capitalism to socialism without them even being aware of the freedoms and liberties they will be forfeiting to the government.

I can’t believe my tax dollars went to this book. Nunes warns about socialism but represents an area that exists on government subsidies. He also advocates a social media platform that is a haven for neo nazis and white supremacy in the same breath telling you he and his party isn’t racist. The fact that he tries to compare this trash to the literature of the founding fathers is shameful. Also, even though he says there was nothing with the Russian investigation why was there so many convictions? Nunes needs to stop trying to be an author and stick to frivolous lawsuits against imaginary cows.

I found this book at my local library on the "free to take" shelf. Tucked into it was a piece of mail relating to the previous owner's Medicare enrollment. I don't think it could get more ironic than that. Not surprising that someone reading this book would not know what a social system looks like, as Congressman Nunes conflates socialism, communism, and fascism, stating there's little difference between the three.
"If you tell a lie enough times with enough conviction and block out the truth, a lot of people will believe you because they just don't have any other information to challenge the propaganda."
This was meant to be a piece of political propaganda but it's not a good one. There's literally no meat on this bone. There's next to nothing against socialism here. The title is merely there for fearmongering. Instead Nunes rehashes Russian collusion and the Steele dossier (with nothing important to add) and bitches about being victimized by Washington Democrats, major news outlets, social media companies, and Delta smelt. Decent arguments could've been made about the censoring of conservative ideas or the increasing politicization of news media or the suggestion of a move towards leftist authoritarianism but Dumb-dumb Devin is too stupid and has his head too far up his asshole to be up to the task. Besides it isn't the principle of those things that he's against, it's just the liberal flavor.
I'll be awaiting my defamation suit.

This is a small, broadside format book(let) and is slightly dated as things are moving so rapidly these days. Nonetheless, it is a quick introduction to the infiltration of socialism / Marxism / etc. in today's American culture. Can be read in one sitting, making it a great book to share with others, as well. I think reading many points of view about how today's woke culture is affecting all of us is valuable.

The good thing about this book is that it's short. A fear mongering title by a conservative congressman from California who writes about all the Democrats are doing that will ultimately destroy our country, according to him, but like most books by conservatives, the most glaring thing with this book is the omissions. Nothing about global warming when he criticizes the lack of water for crops in the desert; nothing about Trump's multiple sexual assault, business failures, and his cuddling up to Putin when the author slams the impeachment effort; nothing about Covid 19 when he mocks Biden running his campaign from indoors; nothing about the socialist US military, or the socialist Medicare for all used by the congress, but not permitted to be extended to the working people of this country. So it goes. The so-called "right" can only make the points they want to make by omitting crucial amounts of relevant information. It's an old tired message, dead on arrival.

Simple and quick. Even post-election I would recommend giving this to those friends and family members who are open minded enough to read something outside their norm. Nunes created a quick and high level overview of the disinformation MSM cog we deal with now.
It “Countdown to Socialism” is the freshman introductory course your first semester in college, Nunes’ next book should be a 201 that is a call to action with more data.

This book is informative and generally positive. I'm familiar with much of the information presented via this pamphlet, so I am not shocked or distressed by the facts that are presented. NOTE: If you are a Californian, you need to read page 79 to the end, as it pays particular attention to California's "water crisis." An eye-opener, for sure. I suspect most of us (myself included) had no idea of the underpinnings of the "crisis." I am now better informed.

A Quick to the Point Broadside Explaining the Current Situation Faced by U.S. Patriots
First, why did I chose to read this book? I have been following Devin Nunes for the last year when I became aware of his efforts in the House Intelligence Committee to uncover the Russia Spygate fiasco. His team has connected a lot of dots in unmasking those who perpetrated the hoax. I am impressed with both his efforts and logic. The problem for so many Americans is that it takes quite a bit of effort to understand not only the Spygate but also all the other initiatives being driven by the liberal left. The most common complaint that I hear from fellow Americans is, "I don't understand their logic! How can they be pursuing the destruction of our country?"
Again, they don't understand for two reasons: 1) A lot of Americans ( Nunez estimates 55 million Americans) only watch the disinformation being provided by the mainstream media (MSM) even when the polls show that only 14% of Americans believe the MSM. 2) It takes a fair amount of time an effort to find the real news and then research and digest it. Many Americans don't have the time or inclination to do it. If I wasn't semi-retired I would be in the same boat!
So when I saw Devin Nunes interviewed on the Dan Bongino Show, promoting this book I paid attention. I'm glad I did! Congressman Nunes purposely kept his book short and to the point ( it's only about 90 pages long). He calls it a broadside, which back in the eighteenth century was a large single sheet used to distribute major news events throughout the colonies. In fact, he points out a broadsheet was used to announce The Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
Congressman Nunes picked the optimal format to explain what is going wrong with our nation and how it got there. I highly recommend this book to all patriotic Americans who have been saying, "I don't understand their logic! How can they be pursuing the destruction of our country?"
This book will connect a lot of dots for you and it will only take you a couple hours to read it. If you don't read anything else, read this book! Please read it before you vote.

Disappointed. Where's the countdown? When is Socialism coming? Nunes explicitly states that Fascism, Communism, and Totalitarianism are all the same as Socialism, so I'm not sure the author has a good grasp on what we were supposed to be melodramatically fearful of during this particular election cycle. And was Nunes oblivious to the COVID pandemic when he was writing this book? It was released a couple weeks before the president was hospitalized, so it feels like a strange thing to ignore.
Also, the first half of the book is the author reminiscing about the Russia Investigation yet again. Ugh. It's like that guy that wears his letter jacket after high school. Or if a band were to release a "new" album where every track on Side-A is just a remix of their lone Top 40 hit from three years ago.
At the end of the day, this book (pamphlet?) accomplishes very little beyond bluster and naked partisanship. So maybe it's a good match for a 17-year congressman whose greatest legislative accomplishment is renaming a 70-year-old, rural California irrigation pumping station. With that record, I can understand why he might abandon his constituents before the end of his term. I really hope he finds peace running a media company that is funded primarily by... a Chinese company. Hmm.
I cannot explain the high star rating, except that Nunes' mom (Twitter suspended due to litigation) has a VERY active book club. Or maybe Russian bots? I'd hate to insinuate collusion.

There are writers, and there are congressmen. Devin Nunes is exclusively the latter. This book is one of the most hysteric pieces of literature I’ve ever read. Nunes so enthusiastically wants you to be aware of his half-baked analyses of the structure of media corporations; like the “Disinformation Funnel” and the “Information Desert”, but doesn’t ever articulate what these things are beyond the illustrations that are at the beginning of each chapter.
Also, this book has some very funny examples of “Neo-McCarthyism” that neither Nunes or his publisher caught before publication. For example, on page 62/63, Nunes “estimate[s] that 55 percent of the U.S. public has no exposure whatsoever to conservatives’ ideas and proposals. In other words, tens of millions of everyday Americans and their family, friends, and neighbors are enveloped by a poisonous, impenetrable bubble of socialist noise”.
Unlike McCarthyism, Nunes seems to get the definitions for communism, socialism, and fascism confused with one another, so you never really know who or what ideology Nunes is writing about.

This short broadside is an excellent explanation of how the socialist agenda of a small group of progressives seems to be upending the traditional structure of American politics and the country itself.
Basically it comes down to the erosion of unbiased mainstream media. In the past we had diligent reporters searching out the truth. Now, socialist progressives have gained control of the media through shills that spread their message through the internet and social media. We now have a younger population that wants their news delivered in quick bursts of stories with sound bytes giving them false information from these leftist sources.
These wannabe socialists, communists, call them want you want, are unafraid to spread disinformation that benefits their progressive aims. It’s quite sad, really, that people today just want to hear only what feeds their nearsighted desires.
It’s very sad that if this is left unchecked, the country will end up being run by self serving despots that will take away the freedom so many have fought for. I am worried if this happens, we will never get our freedom back.

READ THIS BOOK ON HOOPLA IN ONE NIGHT. THE BEST PART ABOUT THE BOOK IS THAT IT POINTS YOU TO THE WEBSITE FOR "ENCOUNTER BOOKS.COM" AND GIVES YOU A LIST OF 67 TITLES BY CONSERVATIVE AUTHORS ABOUT RELEVANT AND TIMELY TOPICS. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF ENCOUNTER BOOKS SO I AM VERY EXCITED TO CHECK THAT WEBSITE OUT. HE OBVIOUSLY HAS LIVED THE LIFE THAT HAS SEEN FIRSTHAND THE DANGERS OF HAVING A POLITICAL PARTY, A COMPLETELY BIAS MEDIA AND BIG TECH GIANTS THAT HAVE NO INTENTION ON TELLING THE TRUTH BUT HAVE GIVEN THEMSELVES TOTALLY TO THE MESSAGE OF SOCIALISM AND FALSEHOODS. Clearly written and accurate
Sadly, I have read this book after the 2020 election. In spite of all the signs of overwhelming support for President Trump, the inept and feeble candidate Joe Biden won the presidency. I have a little reason to disbelieve that this happened in large part due to the ideas presented in this book. It is difficult to believe the person with such few ideas and even if you were accomplishments could have garnered 80 million votes against a president who accomplished an incredible amount in his four years of office. I pray for this country, and I pray for our children.

As a former Democrat turned Independent Constitutionalist since 2012 this books observation rings true to me. It maps out the obvious connections with the media and permanent political class on the left and the lengths they will go to control all of us regardless of party. (It is important to state for those still in the grips of any political party that those players are also on the right as well but are mostly just controlled opposition serving the same master.... Themselves.) 💯
We are just the peasants in their eyes regardless of how we view ourselves or what party we claim. Not gonna spoil it but I highly recommend this book. It will only take a day to read if you're a fast reader. This is definitely what I would call a (knowledge is power book) so it's worth a read!

A brief call and alarm for being aware of today's fake and corrupt news that lied, brainwashed, shaped and misled thoughts of people. I myself witness how lots of people I know was brainwashed so badly, no matter who they are, how high education they got. This is really horrible, that's exactly path of Communism

Everyone who is concerned about the direction of our country needs to read this book. I read it in a couple of hours. Everything Nunes writes about is coming true, from tech and media censorship. To shutting down free speech. If Biden manages to get into the WH we are in for scary days ahead. Read and then share with your friends.

Incredibly Informative
This book should be read by everyone from high school students to the elderly. It lays out in simple to understand language where our country is at and why is it so imperative to be cynical of what we as Americans are fed by social media and big tech. If we are to continue to live as a free country we should take Mr. Nunes words very seriously.

While millions are fleeing failed socialist states, many of the powers that be here in the U.S. are driving us to the brink of national suicide. Socialism has never worked, and it will never work. The only ones that it works for are the political elite. Nunes exposes the corruption present in D.C. that's striping us of our freedom and dragging us down the road to serfdom.
