I'm on pins and needles waiting for this book to get into readers' hands. Being able to spin-off my Dark Kings series was both exhilarating and, if I'm honest, a little nerve-wracking. The moment I sat down to write DRAGON REVEALED, the story unfolded in a magical (forgive the pun) way. And I never wanted to leave.

Now, in less than two weeks, you'll be able to read the story yourself. I can't wait for y'all to meet Varek and Jeyra—and the cast of new characters and mysteries. Never fear though, the characters from the Dark Kings series will show up frequently.

For now, how about an excerpt?

The ringing in her ears drowned out everything. Gradually, it faded, and her harsh breaths replaced it. Sweat dripped into her eyes, stinging them, but she didn’t take her gaze off him. Her nightmare, the monster who had haunted her for years, lay unmoving before her.

With legs still shaking from the monumental effort it had taken to capture him and pull him through the portal, Jeyra straightened to stand over him. For years, she had feared everything to do with dragons—and especially the Dragon Kings. She knew firsthand how formidable they were, how merciless and cruel.

How lethal.

Yet the Dragon King sprawled unconscious at her feet didn’t make her tremble with fear. He looked…harmless. But that was just one of the many ways they conquered.

Jeyra drew in a deep, satisfying breath. Everything she had trained for, worked for all these decades had led to this moment. There had been a point she hadn’t been sure she would succeed, but she had done it. Now that she had the Dragon King, the ordeal felt surreal. The exhaustion of her body, mind, and soul, however, told her it was all very real.

She bent at the waist and clasped the heavy manacles around his wrists, noting the fine fabric of his clothes. His attire was much different from hers, but she could still discern that they were of good quality. The white shirt had long sleeves that molded to his upper body as if a second skin. His pants were made of a thick, dark blue material. Both were in excellent condition, the fabrics soft. Even the leather boots, which appeared to be well-worn, were in amazing condition and quality.

Her eyes lifted to his face. He was stunning, with a visage that would cause anyone to stop and gape in awe at him. Handsome didn’t begin to describe the startling beauty mixed with the raw male ruggedness. It made her sick to her stomach that someone so gorgeous could have such a black soul.

A lock of his blond hair had fallen across his forehead and lifted in the soft breeze. She swallowed as she recalled the moment his brown eyes had met hers. She had seen a million different colors in his eyes. The word brown didn’t begin to define them. They were unique, sporting a mix of light and dark. Of leaves in autumn, and summer soil after a torrential rain.

Fathomless. Mysterious.

Beguiling.

I did enjoy this book it's a slow steady raid a few excitable moments but nothing intense it's just a nice casual laid-back raid a fairly short story all together but if I had to compare this to another book or TV show movie I would say how to train your Dragon.
if you love dragons you'll like it if you want a lot of excitement action well this may not be exactly what you're interested in if you want something that's just kind of cake laid back not super intense and can make you relax as you read it this book is for you I recommend it

I enjoy these 1011 Dark nights novellas to help try out different authors, esp when I'm not sure where to start in their backlists. Dragon Revealed starts a new series, but is connected to a whole lot of other happenings from prior books. I didn't feel lost though, since the focus of the book remained on what was happening in this new realm, just with small references to individuals from previous series.

Both the h and H were interesting characters, both passionate about their responsibilities. The h is very single-minded at first and the H challenges her to question the information that's been presented to her over the years, as well as if he should truly be considered her enemy. There's also a hefty dose of attraction/lust that occurs on both sides, even while the H is technically the h's prisoner still. Because she spends long periods of time questioning him and then bouncing info off of him in the dungeon, it did feel organic when they began to give in to that attraction in small doses, but the deeper feelings that are declared close to the end felt sudden, even with mates being in the equation.

Written in third person, dual POV. No ow/om drama and both were experienced (H seemed more experienced and had recently been with a woman, prior to being captured, though no explicit scenes of him with her or recollections given; both H and h have been alive for a long time, though H much longer).

When the action picked up in the book is kind of when I began to like it less. Maybe because the pacing was slower to start and then the climax felt rushed, like pieces that had been unknown suddenly had a place to go. Except we also don't get answers on some big questions. Magic also solves so much and was very conveniently timed here. The plot regarding what was actually happening in this realm started off strong and then left me feeling vaguely unsatisfied. However, this is meant to be a taste of what's to come in the series so I have to assume that other books more fully develop the mortal side vs. the dragon side of the realm, as well as showing consequences for the events that occur in this story and providing more depth and answers.

The ending is HFN for the couple with no real info given on what their life is going to look like, which was disappointing. They're already in love and will be together, but I wanted more closure, even knowing that they're very likely to be side characters in other books. Kind of a mixed bag, but I did like the writing style and the ideas were intriguing, including the world building. I might try more by this author.

ARC received from author

Another Dragon King finds his mate, and not here on Earth. Varek is king of the lichen, and he's kidnapped into another realm where he meets Jeyra. They start talking with bars between them, and she agrees to help him and other dragons that have been captured. In return he helps her find out come secrets of her society...but not all of them. Gotta have something for future books. It was great to see Erith and Cael again and a few other dragons.

Will she able to see past her revenge’s thirst to acknowledge not all is black or white ...

The author offers us an action packed romantic fantasy tale with lost dragons, betrayals, orphans, a warrior lady and a knight in shining armor.
A dramatic event changed the course of Jetta’s life, from there she made her life’s mission to avenge her family. And her revenge she will have, whatever the recourse. And now she believes she has reached her goal, nothing she thought seems right. The king dragon she captured is everything she never expected. How can she be drawn to him when he is sum of all she hates.
Varek like all dragon kings has lived a very long life, quite a lonely one too. And now he is trapped in a different world without his magic to help him. The only good thing is his jailer is quite dashing.

Their journey toward the other is one of healing, trust won and letting the past go.
A good fast paced entertaining read.

Dragon Revealed was thrilling, sensual, and filled with plot twists–something I’ve come to crave from Donna Grant’s novels–and immediately snared my attention.

What a fun time I had reading this 1001 Dark Nights novella. It was great to be back in the Dragon Kings (aka: Dark King) world in this spin-off that had lots of action and even intrigue in amongst the smoking hot attraction between Jeyra and Varek. Donna Grant knows just how to spin a tale that always keeps me engaged. And in this case, boy didn’t she stack the odds against our two main characters... Read More

For a novella, this story was jam packed.. dragons, fae, magic, other world etc. The beginning was a little drawn out, with lots of world building and character/relationship development, but this is the first in a series so it’s a nice short book to build on all of that for the next book. Even though this novella was less than 200pgs the story did not feel rushed. Onto the next book!

Dragon Revealed is the first novella in the spin-off series—Dragon Kings. In the Holiday Novella, we learned that Varek has vanished. He has been kidnapped by a woman that has a bone to pick with dragons on another realm. Jeyra, is a humanoid (sorry… only Donna knows if she human, Druid, halfling or Fae) that appeared in this realm as an infant and she is not the only one. So, we have a mystery, new dragons and another realm to explore, what’s not to love? She may have captured him, but he has captured her heart. Donna Grant has weaved a base that will launch this series into the universe.

This ARC was received through the Donna Grant’s ARC Angels for an honest review. Any and all opinions are my own and in no way reflect the opinions of the author, publisher or the greater DG groupie community.

DRAGON REVEALED is the first instalment in Donna Grant’s adult DRAGON KINGS erotic, paranormal, fantasy romance series-a spin off from the author’s DARK KINGS series. This is Lichen King Varek, and warrior Jeyra’s story line. DRAGON REVEALED links the Dark Kings with the Dragon Kings series, and can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading INFERNO (Dark Kings #18) for back story and cohesion.

Told from third person perspective DRAGON REVEALED follows Lichen King Varek, trapped in a world he knows nothing about. From a weekend in the Orkney Isles with fellow dragon Merrill, to waking a prisoner in an otherworldly cell, Varek struggles with his loss of magic, and a stranger who is determined to gather as much information about our hero as possible. Enter Jeyra, a woman of unknown origins but a woman determined to destroy any and all dragons who enter their realm. What ensues is the building relationship between Varek and Jeyra, and the potential fall out as Jeyra discovers that all is not as it seems in the city of Orgate.

Years earlier, Jeyra lost everything when a dragon destroyed her family and home. In an effort to take revenge, Jeyra goes in search of the elusive Dragon King, any Dragon King, and finds herself breaking the laws to secure a captive in her need for vengeance. What Jeyra never expected was the palpable sexual attraction to her sworn enemy, an enemy who knows nothing about what happened or why. Varek had no idea how he ended up in a world where his ability to shift is curtailed within the walls of the city of Orgate. Discovering his captor is his fated mate, forces Varek to straddle a line between need and revenge, and in doing so finds himself falling for a woman who has been duped into believing the dragons intend to destroy their world.

The relationship between Varek and Jeyra is one of immediate attraction but Jeyra struggles with her attraction to a creature she believes is her enemy. Only ever having seen one dragon up close, our heroine believes all dragons are evil, and deserve to die. Varek knows Jeyra is his intended mate but his first priority is to save his life, and the lives of the other dragons held captive in the dungeons underground. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Jeyra’s ‘mentor’ Rankin; the members of the Orgate Council; Reaper Cael and his mate Death aka Erith, as well as the introduction of dragon twins Brandr and Eurwen.

DRAGON REVEALED is a story of secrets and lies; betrayal and revenge; family and love. The premise is engaging, and revealing linking the author’s Dark Kings, Reapers and Dragon Kings series, introducing some of the characters who will play a significant role going forward. The characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is fated and captivating.

We’re finally visiting the realm the Dragons were sent to and finding out what became of them!

Jeyra has lived her entire life terrified of and hating dragons and finally has a chance at revenge when she captures Varek but when she begins to interrogate him she ends up with more questions then answers and begins to realize that everything she believed in might be a lie. I think she and Noreen will have a lot in common.

Varek is trapped in a world without magic. Unable to shift, heal or free himself he has no choice but to trust Jeyra and turn her to his side.

I really enjoyed Dragon Revealed though it left me with more questions. Varek and Jeyra’s chemistry was HOT and I loved the slow burn and then getting to know each other slowly. I hate Insta-romance so their relationship felt earned.

We finally meet Con and Rhi’s twins briefly, and a once thought extinct dragon is discovered alive!!!

I’m excited for what comes next.

I have to say I was skeptical that a spin-off of the Dark Kings would be up to par. But as soon as I started reading It I realized that Donna Grant would make this spin-off series Dragon Kings just as good. I couldn’t put the book down.

From the beginning of the book to the end, it was captivating and full of mysteries. Jeyra was proud of capturing a Dragon King but how she did it was against the law of her people. She wanted a Dragon King to pay for what a dragon had done to her family and it didn’t matter what dragon it was. Unfortunately for Varek he was the one she captured. When he wakes up he realizes for some reason he has no powers, unable to shift or heal himself. Now he needs answers.

Varek needs to find a way to break free and his only choice is to get answers from Jeyra. Jeyra must met with Varek to get answers that the council wants. Will they both get what they want? Or will the sparks that are flying between then bring them closer together to get the answers they both need?

This was a great way to start the new series. Well developed characters and a great story line. You also meet new characters. It is worth your time. Can’t wait for the next in the series.

I loved this first book in a new dragon series from author Donna Grant. Dragon Revealed brings us two warriors, one dragon and one mortal, that come together for the good of others, despite their less than favorable beginning. I was thrilled to see a few familiar faces, and the introduction to a new realm was entertaining. I was thrilled to see more action on the page, as well as more interaction between the couple in the story. Their time spent talking really cemented their connection for me. I don't want to give anything away, but if you're a fan of the previous books than you know there are a couple of characters that fans have been looking forward to meeting. Their time on page was short, but I still felt like we have a better sense of their hesitation to come forward to the Dragon Kings.

A short, but fun read and I am excited to see what will happen next!

Dragon Revealed is our jump off from Dark Kings into Donna Grant's new series Dragon Kings. I was so excited that we were taking a Dragon King and putting him out on a different realm. Having the whole world setup for us yet keeping that connection by bringing Varek, the Lichen Dragon King, into the story made for a great transition into the new series.

Jeyra is a great warrior who has been lied to all her life. She goes against the rules to catch herself a Dragon King who she believes killed her whole family. However, now that she has her Dragon King, the council decides to have her question the King. During the days that follow, Jeyra slowly comes to many revelations about herself, and her whole life while she comes to trust this person she feared and hated.

Dragon Revealed has many series starters. Little tidbits that give us a look into what the new series will be based on. I loved Dragon Revealed. The love story, the world and all that is to come. Bring on the Dragon Kings!

So when the Dark World series ended there were questions and the readers just knew it couldn't end there. Now we are beginning a new spin-off series that will eventually answer the questions left previously and WOW what a way to start. While this is a novella and not a full length story, it still packs a punch. You are rooting for Varek from the beginning, but also can see why Jeyra feels the way she does. Their journey to happiness was amazing to read and I will look forward to reading more about them as the series progresses. What a GREAT start!

The Dragon Kings story continues……
Varek, the King of Lichens, wakes up in a realm that is not his own. He can’t use magic, he can’t shift, and he is not healing – he can’t sense any magic in this realm from the dungeon he is in. Jeyra, a warrior who was orphaned very young when her family was killed by a dragon, is the only person he has any contact with and she is interrogating him for the council. She broke the rules to capture a Dragon King because she wants someone to pay for her family’s deaths. When she starts to trust the Dragon King she captured more than the society she was raised in, she realizes she has a problem.
Varek asks questions of Jeyra about her past and society that she never thought to ask herself. But digging into her past has those who don’t want the truth revealed watching her very closely. As Varek & Jeyra talk each day, their attraction to each other grows. Even though he needs Jeyra’s knowledge to escape, he wants her to stop investigating her past because he fears that is putting her in danger. They plan Varek’s escape, but when it comes time to go, Jeyra decides to go with him because she realizes her whole life has been a lie.
Varek & Jeyra had ally who helped them and while they were escaping, Varek begins to hear the dragons. He will not leave without helping the dragons who are the descendants of those the Kings sent away and calls in reinforcements. Once they are free, the two give into their feelings and they get their happy ending; they also meet Rhi and Con’s son. Varek lets him know that he, and his sister, do not have to do it all alone.
I am a longtime fan of Donna Grant and have been anticipating the next chapter in the Dark World she has so lovingly created. The Kings have suffered without their dragons for eons and I don’t think the reunion will be easy! I am excited to learn about Rhi & Con’s twins and what their lives have been like with all the rest of the dragons. I really enjoyed this first tale in this new arc and can’t wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds.

Jeyra never thought she could find a dragon king fascinating after one had destroyed her home. Varek is a dragon king with now memory of how he ended up in chains. He finds Jeyra beautiful and can't resist her. The two have an instant connection but their enemies may come between them. Awesome series and novella.

Jeyra managed to do the unthinkable. She captured a Dragon King and brought him through a portal to her world, very far removed from his home on Earth. Varek found himself imprisoned in a dungeon, where his magic had absolutely no effect. The ruling council ordered Jeyra to interrogate Varek, which she reluctantly agreed to.

The more she talked to Varek, the more Jeyra came to realize that much had been kept from her and the people of her world. The conflict between the people and the dragons there wasn’t as black-and-white as she believed it to be.

This book continues where the Dark Kings series ended, with the novella Whisky and Wishes forming the bridge between them. I liked both Varek and Jeyra. Jeyra was willing to listen to Varek’s perspective, even though she had plenty of reason to hate the dragons. Varek showed his strong character while he was in prison without his magic. The romance between them developed a bit too fast, but there wasn’t a lot of time to make it happen, since this isn’t a full-sized novel.

With plenty of suspense and help from unexpected corners, this book neatly introduces us to a whole new world. I’m excited to delve into this one.

I can highly recommend this if you like paranormal stories with dragons and plenty of steamy romance. I suppose you could start here, but I would suggest that you start with the Dark Kings series and read it all in order. Everything will make a lot more sense that way.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Amazing!

This was my introduction into the Dragon King world....AND I LOVED IT!!! Even though it is a novella, it is full of action, mystery and a wonderful cast of characters. I do wish it was just a tad bit longer though. I would love to know more of Varek and Jeyna. Some answers are still needed so I hope we learn more in the future. A++

As I started reading the newest novel in this series, Dragon Arisen I realized that it referenced events from Dragon Revealed. I felt the need to reread this to refresh my memory. It amazes me how Donna Grant's novels from her Dark Universe build one upon the next in such an innovative and creative way.

Dragon Revealed takes the Dark Kings series off in a new direction. Starting with her plan for revenge, Jeyra whisks Varek off to her realm in the hopes that he will be punished for the actions of others. Little does she realize that an unexpected attraction will develop between the two of them as she gradually begins to see Varek as more than just an evil Dragon King. There is much that is left unexplained, but I'm assuming the next book, Dragon Mine, will resolve those loose ends.

This novella follows up on one of the themes from the end of Inferno and from the middle of Whisky and Wishes yet promises much more to come in the continuing world of the Dragon Kings. Short and sweet; an intriguing start of a new series.

I enjoyed this story. It wasn't perfect. I definitely skimmed a lot of inner monologue and the author seemed to "tell" and not "show" us most of the time, but I still found enjoyment in reading it.

However, we still don't know how Jeyra captured the Dragon King and I was hoping that would come to a conclusion or at least brought up again towards the end of the book, but I am still waiting for that plot point to be reconciled.

It leaves you with more questions than answers, but those seeking a happily-ever-after will be satisfied.

Dragon Revealed is a wildly brilliant and non-stop passionate journey that will without a doubt satisfy and excite even the pickiest of readers!I found myself enticed to enter world where nothing was as it seemed, and to thrive meant to accept blindly every truth given to me. I simply love watching Fate's marvelous plan unravel before an unsuspecting audience all the while knowing that it can not be denied or stopped. Love will always find a way to to unite hearts and breath hope into a dark void. Nothing can stop the power and majesty of an emotion and mindset that can right any wrong. It can just about be viewed as perfect if only we could not allow the darkness to creep in and twist it.

One day Varek finds himself in a place he does not know, and he cannot easily escape. His magic has left him, and he is confused when he realizes that he is cut off from friends and family. The only answers he can find are ones from a beguiling beauty named Jeyra. She despises him deeply for a reason he cannot fathom, and yet he is drawn to her in a way that he cannot explain or fight. Jeyra has accomplished a feat worthy of her warrior status, but she is not allowed to revel in it for long. She finds herself put in an impossible situation where she is not sure that she can succeed much less tolerate. However, for the good of her people, she will press forward and prevail. Will Varek find a way to return home, or will Jeyra turn his world upside down and exact a price that he is unwilling to pay?

I was very intrigued to find myself in Varek's story, but I was willing and ready to walk his journey with him. Each Dragon King has proven again and again that they are each the best possible choice from their clan. They are loyal to friends, honest to a fault, and love with their entire being. Even knowing this each of their stories never fail to touch my heart in a very unique and lasting way. They deserve their standing, and they more then deserve the spectacular mates that they discover along the way. Jeyra had spent her entire life preparing for something that she had no clue about until she pulled him into her life. Nothing could stop their meeting, the decisions made, or the bond formed between them. This was all a very carefully laid out plan that neither could fight or walk away from. What happened as a result of all of this was much greater then either could have imagined. Sometimes, we just need to let go and let things fall into place. Guiding every piece of the puzzle is exhausting and unnecessary.

Donna Grant has lit my world on fire with her epic talent and spectacular heart. She never compromises, and only gives her readers the very best of herself. You will never pick up a half halfheartedly written story. Instead you will only find a highly polished and marvelously inspired story in your hands every time. Each series that intermingles or is a spin off of another only gets better and better. You will lose yourself to the beautiful depth and endless complexity that surrounds you and engulfs you with every step and breath. Be prepared because once you enter her world, you will never be the same again.

Mystery, intrigue and a dragon revealed

Hot on the heels of the conclusion of the DARK KINGS series, Donna Grant has continued her captivating stories of the Dragon Kings in her new series spin off, aptly titled DRAGON KINGS. Book #1 is the novella DRAGON REVEALED, and yet again, Ms. Grant has succeeded in bringing another sexy, alpha dragon to life. She also brings back everything her readers have come to love from her previous series ... a King who is humble, caring and protective, and a heroine who is feisty, independent and very strong willed.

Varek, King of the Lichens, has been kidnapped and taken to another realm. A realm where he has no magic, is unable to shift, unable to contact his fellow dragons ... a realm where he believes magic does not exist. How will he be able to return home? Jeyra is the warrior who was able to capture a Dragon King, having done so to seek revenge on the death of her family. Only know she finds herself commanded by the Council to interrogate Varek and find out his secrets. The more Jeyra questions Varek, the more she becomes intrigue by him, a connection begins to build between them - one that is undeniable. After hearing Varek's story will she continue to fulfil the duties that have been placed upon her, or will she question what the Council has led all citizens to believe?

Once again Ms. Grant has pulled me into her incredible world of the Dragon Kings, answering a few of my questions but raising so many more. Mystery, intrigue, a new realm, new dragons and an appearance by old friends - this novella has it all. A superb introduction to this new series and now I cannot wait to read more. Bring on book #2 Dragon Mine.

Varek, King of Lichens, finds himself captured and starts to panic when he realizes that he cannot use his magic and cannot contact any of the Dragon Kings for help. Jeyra, who is initially very proud of herself for capturing a Dragon King, starts to feel uneasy when she is told to interrogate him.

Maybe 4.5 stars? I guess I am feeling generous today.
It seems to me that this author's writing is most enjoyable when it's a novella or a shorter book. The "regular" size book is hit and miss, and so far I have not liked any of the short stories. The worst one to date is Whisky and Wishes, which somehow manages to be a drag for something that is only a few pages.

Going back to this novella.... Jeyra is just an OK character. She is blinded by her hatred of dragons, and she never questioned anything until Varek. But when she finally does, she at least is not doing anything terribly stupid, which is a huge plus. Despite his initial rage, Varek turns out to be a very, very good, honorable person (or dragon). I still cannot believe how easily he forgives and accepts Jeyra, and how quickly his goal changes from escape to rescuing those who need his help.

The story is quite interesting. It has a decent plot and actually has a resolution, at least for the one being presented as the main topic. There is no other Dragon King present, but we do get to see some familiar faces.

A little annoyance: Just by talking a short walk on the street, someone allegedly notices that everybody is treated equally, as in how much better these people are compared to us Earthlings. This is despite the fact that they have those who are rich & powerful vs. everybody else. Not to mention, these people don't even seem to like each other.

Another note: I don't get how the whole marriage brokerage thing is supposed to work in the story. Also, how does brokering a marriage mean that it's Varek that is the one to be married?

One last note: We still don't know who these people are or why they are they way they are.
