Rate this book
Seeking—one omega muse. Must be sensible and serious. Must not be looking for love.

William’s creativity has hit rock bottom, putting his career as an architect on the line. Unwilling to risk his heart ever again, he does the next best thing—he signs up to an agency to be matched with a muse. Only it’s not the stranger he’s expecting to be paired with—it’s Harper, an omega he met at his best friend’s wedding. They don’t just know each other, they hate each other. This is never going to work. But William has to face facts—he needs Harper.

“I’m not looking for a relationship. Been there, done that, have the collection of worn T-shirts.”

After yet another breakup, Harper’s future is going nowhere fast. It’s a tough truth to swallow, especially when his best friend’s life seems so perfect. When he’s headhunted by a muse agency, it looks like the perfect chance to add some excitement to his life. Until his least favorite alpha turns up on his doorstep. Harper can’t see how he’s going to inspire anything but hatred in the serious alpha. This might be more of a challenge than he bargained for.

2020 = 3 stars
2024 = + 1 star for good reread

✍ 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪

Like most books, this is a mixed-bag of likes & dislikes. Because the likes outweigh the dislikes and I never skimmed, I added a star to my original rating.

LIKES:
★ One of the better mpreg books.
★ An interesting story with a sweet romance.
★ Tender moments when the alpha cared for his smaller, needy omega.
★ The extended HEA.

DISLIKES:
🔻 Manufactured 'ex' drama that made little sense.
🔻 An alpha that acted like a beta.
🔻 No passion or heartfelt love.
🔻 No descriptions at all.

𝕊𝕌𝕄𝕄𝔸ℝ𝕐 & 𝕊ℙ𝕆𝕀𝕃𝔼ℝ𝕊

Book 1: Beckett (alpha) & Zac (omega)
Book 2: William (alpha) & Harper (omega)

Beckett and William are architects and friends, who've formed an architectural partnership.
Zac and Harper are BFFs.

The three books in this series are intertwined and aren't standalones.

William & Harper hate each other according to the book blurb. But this is never shown. At most, they dislike what little they know about each other.

William (late 20's) isn't doing well at work. His creativity and enthusiasm are gone. He's lonely, withdrawn, and touch-starved.
Harper (25) is failing at love & life. He struggles to make ends meet, is lonely and has self-esteem issues.

Harper is recruited by a firm that deals in muses. Muses (omegas) are matched with alphas, to give them the inspiration they need to succeed.

After Beckett encourages him, William hires a muse. He's only interested in one of his choices, which to no surprise, turns out to be Harper. To get their match approved, he has Harper pretend they're strangers.

So begins the MCs' muse relationship where they meet regularly and Harper proves to be an inspiration. An unlikely friendship forms. A month passes.

Things change when Harper asks William to help him through his heat. For a week, William takes great care of Harper as they have sex (low to mid-steam).

At a work-related event, William hears people discussing how muses are often taken advantage of. He feels guilty for helping Harper during his heat, and decides to keep things strictly business. He does this for 4 weeks. Harper thinks it's his fault.

Later, W tells H - I missed you like hell every minute of those four weeks. (This is SO unbelievable, bc he never showed it.)

Six weeks later, Harper discovers he's pregnant.

The Drama:
🎭 William reacts badly when he learns of Harper's pregnancy. He had one bad relationship, and bc of that he'll never love again. (I hate this trope!) Believing Harper is lying like his ex did, he pushes him away.

(I'm glad Harper made him work for their reconciliation.)

🎭 Dumb drama happens when William's omega father and his ex, Dante, team up to get William back with Dante. They cause a few problems as they try to accomplish this. William hires a private investigator to keep the meddling pair out of their lives.

What it takes for William to be with Harper.
(I doubt he would've done it on his own.)
▪️ Harper's pregnancy.
▪️ The muse firm telling him that a love match was inevitable, bc he and Harper are too compatible.
▪️ Beckett counselling him twice.

🍭 The ending is good, if a little too sweet. 🍰
🔹William helps Harper after he's kicked out of his apartment, and left out in the cold.
🔹William meet Harper's parents. (They're the reason why Harper lived in a dump.)
🔹William buys and remodels the house across from Beckett & Zac.
🔹The MCs get engaged.
🔹The baby is born.
🔹They get married.

🥱 The MCs will see therapists to deal with their issues.

💕 FINAL WORDS: 💕
He was no longer the omega left behind or the dreamer drifting too far from the ground. He had William and Lilah to love and care for, and to be loved and cared for by them too. What he hadn’t guessed, when William had first approached him about being his muse, was how inspired he’d be in turn. Now he had the life he hadn’t believed he could have. He’d never been so happy to be proved wrong.

✍ 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪

While books 1 & 2 in this series were both enjoyed, I liked this one a little more. There was enough drama to keep my attention, and to keep me from skimming. Both MCs had issues, but they worked through them together, sometimes with the help of their friends. Speaking of friends, it's great how close they all are.

I hope Brendan is getting his book next! (Glad there are authors who make mpreg the focal part of their stories).

Amusing You by Claire Cullen is the third book in the Omega's Luck series. This is a fun and sweet shifter more about fake dating turning surprisingly but wonderfully real. It also has that spicy enemies to lovers feel. I absolutely loved Harper and William together in their journey through angst. Friendship, heat and love.

Well this was interesting... and is it weird that I liked this one better than Expecting you when the plot is even flimsier?

However... this book is seriously amusing. While the two main characters have met before, their interactions were not positive making their relationship at best withering at worst growly... which makes the situation in which they find themselves cuter.

This novella also makes a lot more sense to me, at least for most of it. The decisions Harper and William make throughout are either smart and/or understandable and at least for me, relatable. Of course, "for most of it" clearly says there's something I didn't find believable which was the addition of 2 characters to the plot.

LIGHT SPOILER PEOPLE
.
.
.
I had issues with William's ex-boyfriend and father. Basically... what the heck was the author thinking? They make no sense, they're little more than plot devices to get a little drama and in this case the kid in book 1 and his Omron's disease had all the drama and all the reason to exist. The father supports the ex-boyfriend omega... why? Because he's rich? Apparently not if he needs Williams money or is it because they both need money? Like... how? This isn't mentioned. The ex-boyfriend wants William back but why does he think he has a chance? He's stupid? Self-centered and empty headed? Both characters motivations are sort of spelled out but it's as shallow as a pond and their confidence in their actions makes even less sense, there's nothing to assure them on their path, they just look ridiculous.
.
.
.
END OF SPOILER

I liked Harper since the previous entry, he's fun loving, honest, playful, such a loyal and kind friend and has a sarcastic sense of humor that touches my evil black heart with glee. He's way of thinking and decision making I agreed with 100%, he even surprised me at a point were other leads would've gone all "you lied to me" drama, he thinks and reacts in a way that showed the strength of his character and his own personal growth.

William... I was a little stump by? He also appears in Expecting you as a best friend but Becket's. He's the one pushing Becket into accepting his relationship with Zack. There's a bit about him losing inspiration and how he's been a loner for quite some time but nothing else. He's certainly not shown to be so reticent and cynical or uptight and obsessive. Theses parts of his personality are explain well with his past trauma but shocked me after the cool kind of laid back idea I had. But still, in the end it worked as a contrast to Harper and he's, I think, the character that grew more, evolved more within the story and the one I felt for the most. He's just so cute.

One minor thing that could easily not bother other readers is the lack of shifting in this book. While yes, there is some, I didn't feel it as present or as relevant to the story and/or relationship development as in the first one. And to me, reading about shifting is half the fun in shifter romances.

Regardless and because all of the above, I truly enjoyed this book. It was a blast of laughing, tender moments and... heat... because that was also nice. I definitely recommend this one, do read book 1 before, while it's not necessary it is a bit better knowing who these two lovebirds are. 100% buy, read, re-read from time to time to get your romantic fix and support the author, so we get more of this.

Oh, what a lovely surprise this book was! I really enjoyed book 1, but book 2 was incredible. Harper and William didn't like each other since they meet, but this is not an 'I hate you for some specific reason' kind of dislike, it was mostly because Harper is a happy soul and William a very gloomy one.

William was an amazing character, very insecure, and anxious on one side and supportive, attentive, and extremely confident when needed. With Harper, he's a mixture of both which Harper finds alluring. Harper is happy, loves his friends, and enjoys his life - even when its a bit crappy, all his friends are moving on and he's feeling left behind.

Together, William and Harper are strangers that are acquaintance through their respective best-friends, so they are aware of each other's existence but don't really interact. So, of course, they are clumsy, weird out, uncomfortable, and sometimes don't even know what to do in each other's presence.

Their relationship starts business-like, we see them going to the gym, cooking at home, watching movies together and soon it becomes a routine that is still kept very business-like [no touching of any short or mention of feelings]. Then, Harper goes into his heat and William feels weird to be asked to join Harper but still together during the heat William shows a side that Harper enjoys and loves, his attitude, how he takes care of Harper, is attentive and understands Haper without pushing.

What I loved about this book was that the love didn't come right away as it usually does in an omega/alpha universe. When Haper discovers his pregnancy, you would think this is the final ever after but William doesn't react accordingly. You would think, typically of alphas, but no, in this case, William has a short of PTSD if I can say so. He was betrayed by his last partner and doesn't believe Haper. Now, there is on extreme angst or heart-wrenching weeks of self-loathe, we move right ahead with Haper discovering about William's past, allowing William to help him and fight together against William's omega father and previous partner. From there we see a relationship bloom based on trust and love. The book progresses smoothly, and the ending is amazing. \

I truly loved this one! Would recommend with open arms.

Well this was certainly interesting... and is it weird that I liked this one better than Expecting you when the plot is even flimsier?

No really. This book is seriously amusing, lol. While the two main characters have met before, their interactions were not positive making their relationship at best withering at worst growly... which makes the situation in which they find themselves less believable but also cuter.

Despite how the main plot feels flimsy and really holding on by threads the relationship and the main characters make sense to me, a lot more than the main characters in book 1 did. Harper and William make decisions throughout the story that are either smart and understandable or not so smart but understandable and/or relatable. Then there's the plot getting away with it... cause there were 2 side characters I didn't believe at all. I don't really understand why they were there to begin with.

Harper I liked in Expecting you, he's fun, loving, honest, playful, such a loyal and kind friend... his sarcastic sense of humor so right up my alley. I was pleasantly surprised with how he acted differently in moments when I would've thought the classic misunderstanding drama would get in.

William also appeared in Expecting you but as Becket's friend, helping him accept his relationship with Zack and in that book there is some mention of him losing his creativity or been a loner but he definitely didn't appear cynical, uptight and obsessive as he shows in his own story. True, they make sense when you see his past but I felt they came out of left field in the beginning because it didn't make sense to the William I had met before. That said, I think he showed a lot of growth, was a great contrast to Harper's personality and as he evolved their relationship grew and they became quite the cute, sweet couple.

Something I found a bit annoying, side note, is the lack of shifting in this book. I thought, because of book 1 that they were shifters and it would somewhat a part of their story like before, an important part of how they would connect but no... ok... oh well...

So all in all I was entertained, I laughed, it was kinda hot, so sweet, not the deepest but totally worth the read. 3 stars!

DNF 50% through. This was extremely well-written. Shame.
I’m sure the author was like, this isn’t mindless porn-with-a-plot, I’ve risen above all that and written this—ridiculous fucking book.

What would you guys do if you were told the guy you’ve been all mushy and lovey-dovey with for months has a fiancé? By whom, though? By his dad that he never talks about. How does the dad contact you? Some acquaintance of his sees you with his son at a clinic and delivers the tea, dad goes to clinic and has them call you saying your blood sample that you took because you’re pregnant has something very wrong with it, you go there and dad pops out and is like OH YOU POOR DEAR I AM HERE TO WARN YOU MY SON IS A SICK FUCK AND HE IS USING YOU WHEN HE IS ALREADY ENGAGED TO BE MARRIED YOU SHOULD RUN. You fucking believe this shady guy over the person you supposedly love???????

What would you guys do if you were told by some agency YOU hired to find you a muse, that they made a TERRIBLE mistake and matched you with someone you were very compatible with, OH NO, and you should immediately terminate your contract and never see him again and they would be prepared to pay for your therapists. And not only that, you knocked him up and you really care about him. Why, of course, you can’t possibly say no to the agency! You gotta angst over it to death like a fuckwit because obviously you can’t tell them, oh sure, and fucking hang up and move on with your life because DUH you’re compatible, you’ve been all but dating for months????? Is being too compatible a reason to fucking angst these days? So much stupid drama.

Wish the author would have just stuck with your typical fluffy, sweet omegaverse with hot mpreg sex and knotting.

Sweet

I received an ARC of this book and have chosen to leave a review of my own accord.

Although this isn't my favourite of Claire Cullen's books, you will still find all the ingredients of her normal stellar work: complementary characters who encourage growth in each other, shifters, mpreg, subtle commentary on social norms (good and bad). I just haven't really connected with the Omega's Luck universe as much as I have with her previous series' and I'm not sure why; perhaps it's because it's set in a world much similar to the real one, and therefore it's harder to suspend belief than it normally is or perhaps I'm more used to her series' with an over-arching back story/mystery that is connected through all the books (which this series doesn't appear to have).
Things I loved: the Alpha does not impose his will in the Omega, their relationship occurs quite naturally without super dramatic intervention, and it's always nice to see characters from other books get their HFN/HEA.

So sweet!

I love this book. While I enjoyed Zak and Bennett's story, I believe I liked this one more. For one thing, Harper is my favorite character hands down! But truly getting to know him and how he deals with his insecurities made me love him more. Finally getting the whole story behind why William is so emotionally closed off was eye opening, darn families! Reading along to these two falling for each other but so afraid to trust was tough and had me begging both of them to listen to their best friends and their hearts. I knew it was an HEA book but it is hard to believe that at times when things keep happening to push them apart. I was just pleased to see William take such good care Harper even before admitting his feelings. I would recommend this series to anyone that loves sweet love stories.

This is a great addition to the Omega's Luck series and I really enjoyed it. Amusing You is well written, sweet, fun, has a few surprising twists, wonderful characters and an interesting storyline. William and Harper are exactly what the other needs even though it takes them awhile to figure it out. They don't realize how perfect they are for each other but as their relationship evolves and they spend more time together they begin to see what an amazing future they could have. They do have some issues to deal with as well as a few surprises. I love that we get to see how well Zac and Beckett are doing, the ending is great and I look forward to reading the next book in this exciting series.

Wonderful Omegaverse m/m romance

William is an alpha architect in a slump. He is uptight, uninspired and miserable. His business partner suggests he contact a muse agency to get inspired at work. Harper is a broke omega barista with a bad track record with dating alphas. He needs the money the agency's offering and after a lot of testing they sign contracts. Harper not only helps William's work but in other areas as well. Needless to say but all kinds of complications ensue trying to keep them from their HEA but it makes for a nail biting great story. Highly recommended.

A free spirit and a stick in the mud. Now that is a combo!

While attending his friend and partner's wedding, William meets Harper. It was dislike at first. As an architect, William's work is starting to fail. It lacks inspiration and life. Deciding to check out an agency that specializes in finding your Muse he gives it a try. When finds out his perfect Muse is none other that Harper, the fireworks explode. Great story with lots of humor and grumbling. Also some naughty bits too!

I’m loving this series!

This is a modern shifter romance with mpreg; the second book in the series that needs to be read in order. Though technically some of the characters can shift, it’s not really shifter focused. Harper and William are the best friends of each of the MC’s from book one and they hate each other or atleast they both thought that. The rest of the blurb you can read from the back of the book… it’s enough to say with a 5 star mark that I absolutely loved this story! Harper is bold, sassy and vibrant against Williams seriousness; wonderful pairing!

For Harper, William is a puzzle he's trying to figure it out, layer by layer. And for William, Harper is a piece of his missing puzzle to make his own puzzle complete and perfect.

Their life look good then hurricane is coming their way. When hurricane done its damage, it's time for them to rebuild what left broken to be whole again and it took time and patient from both William and Harper.

It's romantic and sweet but when the all the dramas is over..!

a good read

William and Harper's story kind of falls in the enemies to lovers trope, but the muse twist adds an interesting and unexpected aspect.

There was some angst when someone from William's past popped up, but other than that, the plot was fairly low angst with an awesome HEA. Hot sexy times and some shifting included.

The ending left me uncertain who might be featured in the next book. Brendan maybe?

Terrific Alpha/omega story

I like reading this kind of book and I am enjoying this series. The stories are different and unusual but still end with the couples together of course. This book has the couple brought together in a rather unusual manner as the first does, but they are written so that the stories are believable which is a delicate balance. I recommend this series to anyone who likes Alpha/omega mpreg

William goes through an agency to find a muse. He’s paired up with Harper. They didn’t believe it could possibly work since they weren’t fond of each other but, it works wonderfully. The professional line blurs when Harper asks William to help him through his heat.

-enemies to lovers
-accidental pregnancy
-family interference
-class difference

*****
POV… third person

Standalone or series… book 2 in series- best read in order

Hangover… no

Recommend… sure

A very good book

I really enjoyed this book. The main characters were engaging. The story was sweet and the intimate scenes hot. It was good to see characters from the first book in the series.

The story made me smile. I enjoyed the pacing and not too much angst. It was a very good book.

I love this series!

This book seemed to have less angst and more fluff and possibly my favorite right now. I appreciate Harper and William actually have tension from not knowing each other that well to set aside their differences for bettering themselves, family or work. I love how the ending explained Dante and Samuel trying to ruin things as well.

I was unfamiliar with the muse thing. This is actually the first time I read a book about muses. I never thought they exist 🤣

I love how since the first book, whenever Harper was sure of something and added "I can feel it in my bones", they always turn out to be the opposite HAHAHA.

The amount of angst is good. Not too much. It was a great read. 💚

The books I’m this series always fill me with such joy. They are about people who don’t think they deserve it, finding love and happiness and who can’t relate to that? I loved every second of Amusing You and the slow burn of the love between Harper and William.

Well worth reading!

If they had a half stars, I’d have rated this one 4.5, but that shouldn’t be read as a slur. Both books so far from this series have been very enjoyable. I was very intrigued by the notion of a “muse“ and enjoyed seeing how it worked out.
