She feels lost and for the first time wonders if coming to Wild Cove was a mistake. At this difficult time, Jane is pushed to the brink. The reason Jane moved to Wild Cove was to shake off a bad reputation as a whistle-blower in the police force. Now, some of the officers she took down have found her. As they pull Jane's life apart piece by piece, she is pushed to her limits as she uncovers the real reason they are in town, and why she must do everything she can to stop them.
The Hooded Figure (Book 5): “I think I saw one of them staring at me through the trees and then heading away.”
Pastor Callaghan grows restless. Something he has feared for several years has now come to fruition. When sheriff Jane Scott investigates sightings of strange hooded figures in the surrounding woods, Pastor Callaghan asks her not to get involved for her own good.
I like the idea of really good mysteries in a little tiny package. They knew that their pastor was one person they could trust because His trust is in the all-powerful, Almighty God. Very good!
A Wild Cove Mystery Series Vol 1-5 - a review by Rosemary Kenny
Murder at Wild Cove: Police Officer Jane Scott is literally on the scene, when Annabel rushes hysterically out of the bakery - she's just found her sister's murdered body inside! By chance Glenda (the victim) and Annabel are the sisters of Sheriff Williams - Jane's boss! What transpires in the rest of this brief novelette, seems rather predictable and a little disappointing. Why not get Laura Greene's Murder at Wild Cove and decide for yourself if you like it?
Susan Dern is Missing: The eponymous victim, 16 year old Susan Dern, is abducted just metres from her home, as she makes her accustomed short walk from her boyfriend's home one evening. The alarm is soon raised and her father Larry, concerned neighbors and local, newly-appointed Sheriff Jane Scott, are soon out looking for signs of the young woman in the post-Christmas snow. A cleverly disguised villain and an unexpected reason for more than one abduction, makes this a fascinating suspense-thriller you won't want to miss!
The Demise of Tom Hendry: The gruesome murder of Wild Cove author Tom Hendry, discovered by his daughter, Lila, is just the first issue for Sheriff Jane Scott. The second is, justifiably, more personally upsetting, as her boyfriend Jack's parents come to scrutinize Jane and end by making it clear they want her and Jack to split, so he can go back to his previous love, whom they love like a daughter! Does Jack side with Laura? How does she react? As Jane draws closer to solving the murder and learns something strange about the local Pastor, her private life is put on hold, until the killer is unmasked in a dramatic and violent manner. Will Jane and Jack reunite? Will she leave town?
The History of Jane Scott: Wild Cove Sheriff Jane Scott is suspended and accused of corruption, by a coerced local radio broadcaster, who then takes his own life in front of a shocked Jane. What caused the false accusations and who believes them? Who's Rob Roe? What changes in Jack and Jane's relationship? What does Jane stumble onto in a flower bed? With many twists and turns and the loss of a devoted colleague of Jane's after a shoot-out, she wishes she'd never come to Wild Cove - until things turn her leaving plans on their head!
The Hooded Figure: Two local men have disappeared and Sheriff Jane Scott of Wild Cove, has seen a mysterious hooded figure, not far from the tracks of one abduction, while a search of the other's home reveals records of strange goings-on in nearby woods. Next, Jane questions her knowledgeable friend Pastor Callaghan about the local legend, but he's unexpectedly dismissive and later also vanishes. When do Jane (and fiancé Jack), see him next? What clues did they find in the graveyard? How do they escape from the Elders' trap?

Great mystery series! Reviewed in the United States on August 17, 2020
I love this series! The characters are wonderful and each story just bursts with action and mystery. These are 5 quick stories that are perfect separately but build on each other to create a great world. Try it, I know you will not be disappointed!
This series by Laura Greene is very enjoyable. I was intrigued from the beginning and found each short story just what I needed in these times of covid brain. I found Officer Jane Scott a well developed character who ethics get her into hard dilemmas. Her belief that her new job in a sleepy small town turns out to be anything but. Unlike other short stories I didn't feel the ending was too abrupt. I look forward to reading more of her stories.
I loved all the books in the Wild Cove series. The stories were suspenseful and fast paced. Each story was unique. Laura Greene writes riveting stories. Will be reading more of her books.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this boxed set. The only problem was it was too short for me. I love to read!!!! The mysteries took some unexpected twists and turns.
