I really enjoyed reading about the life and legacy of the founder, A. B. Simpson, of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (my denomination). My church in Omaha, Christ Community, just celebrated its 100 year anniversary and it was just fascinating to learn the history of how the faithfulness of R. R. Brown started the Omaha Gospel Tabernacle (now Christ Community) in 1921. It was also so interesting to find out that R. R. Brown studied and traveled with our founder A. B. Simpson. Fascinating to read about a man who spent his life listening and following after God's leading to start a whole new movement of the four fold Gospel. The book was not afraid to show his faithfulness and his struggles/failures. After all, we are all human and fall short of the glory of God. Thankful for a God full of mercy and grace.
Simpson was the founder of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. The distinguishing mark is that this man was not setting out to create a new sect but merely sought and applied the will of Christ found in the Scriptures,
Enjoyed reading and being reminded of The C&MA founder—his desire to live in Christ’s presence at all cost. The honesty of his strengths and weaknesses reminded me of our humanness and Christ’s empowering until we stand whole before Him on that day.
