Send help… I’m going to need it.

I was normal… until I wasn’t. Dying does that to people, I guess.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. My name is Gabrielle, and I’m an omega. My life took an unexpected turn the moment I was dragged into an alley and murdered. When I woke up, I fully embodied lust and jumped three sexy-as-sin strangers—who just so happened to be Hell’s strongest demons.

Now the four of us are bonded for life. And as it turns out, this group of three is actually a group of six. Oh and there’s this huge plot to overthrow the current leader of Hell, and somehow I’ve found myself smack dab in the middle of it.

If I thought my life before was a challenge, it’s got nothing on this shit.

Dragged Under is a dark PNR omegaverse featuring one saucy omega and six demanding alphas.

This story surprised me in how it was so well written and the storyline was so interesting and enlightening.
D. E. Chapman has taken the tales of Adam and Even, the seven sins, and the archangels and given them a new perspective with her creative words and imagination.
This is a reverse harem story that involves demons and Angels, throw in some dangerous battles during the culling, and you have a fantasy book that will capture you from page one.

I...hmm. I really wanted..., look the tags and not the blurb caught my attention, okay? The blurb just heightened my need to read this.

And it promised to be awesome but this just wasn't hitting any high notes for me. The things that turned me off about this book wasn't what you'd expect; not the demons (kinda), its not the lord of hell being one of her lovers, and its not about her 'discovering' that she, too, is a demon. All of that is fine but it was just so fucking boring.

And the world building was just very confusing, i.e., how the author explains the creation of souls and demons. There was something about splitting one soul into multiple other souls and souls being reincarnated after a century in either hell or earth. I suppose the same happens for souls ascending into heaven, which kinda sucks but okay. Essentially what I got from this is that Lucifer was a (self-sacrificing) micro-managing dude who created 7 horcruxes to help him manage hell's paperwork. Those horcruxes became fully formed beings who embodied the seven deadly sins who help judge humans according to the sins they leaned into while on earth. He who shall go by another name (I'm not even joking here, the author refuses to let the female protagonist 'know' who she's fucking until 70% into the book. This female protagonist, Gabrielle, is very stupid in humble opinion.) makes sure that there is a balance of humans on earth and souls in hell.

If the vaguely harry potter plot point throws you off then buckle up, buckaroo because that's not the only popular YA novel finding itself in this book. Specifically the Quarter Quell of the hunger games. Yes, the Lord of Brimstone and Sulfur has found himself overthrown and his body hidden thus throwing the delicate balance into disarray, and it's up to her, her magic pussy and her 'mates' to restore order to the underworld. Because as below, so above or whatever.

Cons:
- The heroine is a wet noodle. She's boring, she's bland, she cant fight, she has absolutely no skills besides fucking her mates throughout this book. There was a scene where she's in a Japanese manga shop and she's describing her love of yaori and what it is and I'm left to wonder what the hell does this contribute to the story? I get that she's supposed to represent lust but my god, can you think with your head for once?
- The author constantly waffles on using their nomenclature and their sins. So say Brahn is wrath and Silas is Pride. At any point in time she uses either name which left me very confused. Sometimes in the same damn sentence.
- No, seriously how are souls created? I'm still confused.
- She's an omega. This contributes absolutely nothing to the story. Nothing. Its as good as saying her blood type.

Pros:
-Gabrielle, the female protagonist, finds out shes destined to be with and is also a demon? Okay, cool. What's for breakfast. Absolutely no moral equivocations, no emotional breakdowns, sis just rolled with it.

This book was a struggle to finish because anytime I put it down it would take days and a huge effort to get back into the story. It could have been so much better.

Started off ehhh and then all of a sudden they are "bonding" in a dirty alley after the h was murdered or nearly murdered and I just couldn't.

Initially, she's attracted to them. Then, they start their "bonding" and she is adverse, but they convince her its for the best. So, she acquiesces.........

She knows their names, that is all.

She's literally attacked, left for dead, wakes up, and has the sex. With strangers. In an alley.

Ya, nope.

When I picked up a copy of Dragged Under, a reverse harem in which a woman mates the Deadly Sins (one of which is Lucifer himself), I never would have imagined my primary descriptor on finishing it would be bland. I was simply bored the whole time.

Even the sex is mechanical and dull. I'm talking P enters V, equals O. Sometimes P doesn't even enter V more than once before O. No foreplay, no getting to know the men, no variation, no emotion, no passion. Mechanics, that's it, and not even many of those. It's about as erotic as sitting on a chair and then immediately standing up, done.

The villain is a caricature that drops in to monologue briefly on occasion and nothing more. The primary foil being ridiculous challenges that are overcome with comical ease.

Everyone had two names (both the 7 Sins and everyone else) that are used interchangeably throughout the book. So, I could never keep track of who was doing what. (Why would an author do this?) On top of not being able to keep names straight, none of characters are well developed or differ enough to tell them apart anyway, not even the heroine.

But then how could she be? She spends literally half the book asleep or unconscious and the other half being carried or used as a flesh-lite. (The men negotiate with each-other about who gets to stick it in next—and that's about all they ever do. She's never an active participant.) She might as well be an inanimate object. I'm not even exaggerating here.

And the whole thing ends with a deus ex machina that made no sense at all. I have no desire for more of this series.

🎶 They send me away to find them a fortune. A chest filled with diamonds and gold. The house was awake, the shadows and monsters. 🎶

After being murdered in a dark alley, Gabrielle (h) awakens transformed, embodying the very essence of lust. Her resurrection leads her straight into the arms (and chaos) of three dangerously powerful demons—Hell’s fiercest, most seductive warriors. Bound to them by a force neither she nor they can resist, Gabrielle soon learns that her new reality is far more complicated. The trio she met is only half the story; there are six in total, and together they’re entangled in a high-stakes plot to overthrow Hell’s ruler.

─── .¸✿¸.•❤•.❀• THOUGHTS¸•❀.•❤•.¸✿¸.⋆ ───

“Feel our connection. You know as well as I we would never harm you.”

″We need to cement our bond before it’s too late.”

The mating bonds felt entirely transactional, as if they existed solely to serve the purpose of advancing through the trials rather than stemming from any genuine interest in her as a person. The sins could claim all they wanted that they desired her, but their actions consistently suggested otherwise. They kept forming these bonds not out of love or connection but simply as a means to progress to the next stage of the trials. Everything happened so quickly . One bond would form, and almost immediately, she would move on to the next. Are we really supposed to believe that they are destined to be together in every lifetime ♾️ and that this rushed, emotionless process is how they reconnect each time? I could not believe for a second that they truly cared about her. It all felt so shallow and poorly developed.

Wrath was the one who showed the most passion for Gabrielle. There was genuine awe in the way he looked at her, and it felt like she actually had a meaningful connection with him, especially after the reveal that he was Lucifer. He was truly proud when she finally unleashed her true abilities. He had always known she was capable of such power, but she had never experienced anything intense enough to trigger it until then Unlike the others, Wrath was gentle with her and far less dismissive. Given that he is essentially the reason for her existence and that she possesses some of his angelic powers, it makes sense that their bond would be stronger.

″Gluttony, Envy, and Greed,” slips out like my mouth has a mind of its own.

“Three already, and it’s only our first dream? Impressive. And what are their names during this cycle, hmm?”

“Zander, Ryth, and Branh.”

I honestly can’t even distinguish most of the characters because they were all so forgettable, but Sloth was definitely my favorite. Even though he barely had the energy for anything and practically hated every activity because it felt like a waste of effort, that was exactly what made him stand out. It was so perfectly in character and completely on brand with his sin. And yet, in his own quiet way, he managed to subvert that stereotype. He said he would be willing to overcome his natural lethargy for her, and that was genuinely sweet 💌🤍(at least, as sweet as it could be coming from someone like him). This man was lazy to the core, even during the bond, putting in absolutely no work whatsoever. But somehow, that made him more authentic than the rest, and I appreciated that consistency. Then we have Pride, who willingly chose not to search for her—not because he couldn't, but because he genuinely didn’t want her with him. He couldn’t handle the thought of her being in danger again, so instead of facing that, he surrounded himself with other women as a way to replace what he had felt with her. Things got so bad that Wrath had to resort to mind-controlling Pride just to force him to form the bond. That alone says everything. It was messy, forced, and honestly just not good at all. SAD.

─── .¸✿¸.•❤•.❀• OVERALL¸•❀.•❤•.¸✿¸.⋆ ───

Would I reread it? Yeah… no. Once was more than enough. But hey, it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever read. There just wasn’t any real emotional build-up, and by the end, I was honestly bored and just waiting for it to be over. 🫩

Seven deadly sins

I can never turn down a seven sins novel, and this one was no different. I will admit that the Insta lust and Insta mate happened way too fast for me, but it works for lots of others. I did lose track of who was who with the initial three in the story since sometimes they are referred to by their names and by their sin at others and the reader isn't given enough time to see them individually. Overall, though, it was a decent read.

This book was not for me I guess. First of all, in the abstract it says that she was murdered but as far as I know that is not the case. The guys safe her and then before she's fully conscious of what is happening they mate with her, right there in the alleyway. So that is some dubcon. Also it's a very fast burn, maybe the first or second chapter.
And after that I feel kind of sorry for her. It's a bit of an omega verse and with the mating comes knotting. And the guys basically stand in line. And not just for the original mating, but every time they have time for a fuck they do it. They wait till the knot of the previous guy is done and the next one can start. I don't think that's healthy.

Storywise we have our FMC who is not strong at all. She is literally being carried throughout most of the action. She does get trained before the last trial, but you don't get to see it. Because she's half unconscious during that trial and has to be carried.
The timeframe is also not the best, they just get right into. I was really surprised with that, they were talking like the culling was still some time away and next thing you know they say that the calling is less than 30 minutes away.
There was no real time to get to know all the characters, except for Wrath. It kind off feels like the other guys aren't main characters.
Talking about Wrath his actual name is Lucifer, which he keeps a secret from her. I think it might have been nice if it was kept a secret from us as well?
The switching from calling them by their sin and calling them by their name was really confusing to me.

I love this author's work. She has such a way of bringing something you've heard a million times and making it into something completely her own.

In this book she introduces the Seven Deadly Sins, in a way, I personally have never seen. I like how she also made them portray their sin in some way. And she also made it Omegaverse! Which are all things that made me love this book even more! One of my favorite parts is even finding out who Gabrielle actually is! And her cat was also something a bit "extra". I don't want to give anything away, because I hate spoilers. But I totally recommend if you like this author you gotta try this one and if you're new to this author what are you waiting for? Go give her a try!

Chapman has created an interesting take on demons and the seven deadly sins. I really liked Gabrielle - while this is an omegaverse book and she has some sweet/submissive traits, she is also powerful when she needs to. I would say that there are a couple scenes that almost border on dub-con. This is a fast paced, fast burn, stand-alone RH.

In this story, we meet Gabrielle, a 24-year-old virgin human. She lives a sad, solitary life with no friends or family. Gabrielle is a poor college graduate on the verge of being homeless. Until the day she is dragged into an alleyway by a nasty demon, only to be rescued by her fated mates. These men are demon alphas representing the seven deadly sins, and Gabrielle is their omega and the demon of Lust.

This story was enjoyable to read, and I don't regret picking it up for the second time. The world-building in this book was excellent, and the plotline was engaging. However, the character development sucked. Most of these people didn't have defined personalities; they blended together. There were several annoying storytelling inconsistencies. The harem was imbalanced as well. Some of these men are hardly visible, not even spending time with FMC or building a relationship beyond the initial bonding.

The Guys

Xavier
😈 The Leader of the group.
😈 Deadly Sin: Wrath
😈 Has a crazy, homicidal, obsessive love for FMC.
😈 Devious
😈 Most time spent with FMC

Branh
😡 Deadly Sin: Gluttony
😡 Grumpy, jealous/possessive, serious, selfish, stern
😡 Fiercest Alpha
😡 Spends almost zero time with FMC in this book

Zander
🧁 Deadly Sin: Greed
🧁 Soft, sweet, and gentle with FMC
🧁 No defined personality

Ryth
🍭 Deadly Sin: Envy
🍭 Sweet/nice
🍭 No discernable personality and mostly overlooked

Silas
😢 Deadly Sin: Pride
😢 Broken from centuries of watching his family be abused and murdered repeatedly
😢 Not introduced until close to the end, and he has no personality.
😢 Only with FMC sexually once, and he wasn't even controlling his body then. No real relationship with Gabrielle.

Aiden
🥱 Deadly Sin: Sloth
🥱 Too lazy to move, too lazy to speak in complete sentences, too lazy for sex. Only wants to nap. He says maybe six words in this book.

The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript had quite a few typos. Hopefully that will be fixed in the retail version. The world building was vivid, with the culture, castes, and history of Hell coming to life. The characterization was good, with the heroine especially being a sympathetic character. The heroes were all deliciously alpha and sexy. The development of the romantic relationships was okay, though it was of the insta-love version of the Fated Mates trope, which is not my favorite. I tend to prefer an Enemies to Lovers version of that trope better, personally. This novel had a heat level of four to five chili peppers. The plot was exciting and action packed, which made the pacing fly by. There was low angst and very high stakes throughout this novel, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Fated Mates trope and the Polyandry trope. This novel ended on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I admit to not reading as many books by this author as I probably should because she tends to write a lot of trilogies and duologies. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy good world building and omegaverse elements in their paranormal romances. I will keep more of an eye out for future releases by this author from now on. I will probably buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

This was almost a 5 star but reflecting, the story could have been paced slower or it could have been spread out to be multiple books and add character development etc. I liked the take on the seven deadly sins and hell and heaven in this book. I liked that hell and heaven weren't against each other but rather partners. I liked that Lucifer was a part of the harem and was Wrath. The trials for the Culling were a little stupid because Gabrielle couldn't do shit but the switch in POV was nice. I liked that the author tied an omegaverse into a demon book. I liked that the curse was that Gabrielle kept coming back with no memories and Cain kills her every-time until this time. I think the best part was the epilogue. It was just so cute. I want more and the next book comes out in a few months.

Gabrielle: Lust
Branh: Glutony
Zander: Greed
Ryth: Envy
Xavier/Lucifer: Wrath
Aiden: Sloth
Silas: Pride

i got this arc from the author in promise for a review so here it goes.

from the blurb i was unsure if i would like the book very much but boy was i wrong,
it took me about give or take a half hour 5 hours to finish the book it was that good

thing i loved and liked
the story is unique ive not read a story with the 7 sins before,
its fast going, alot of action packed romance and the heroinne is kickass the boot.
the 7 sins and the authors take on it was amazing to read, it captivated me
and i was eager to keep turning the page to see what happend next.
i liked how the world build and was mainly in "hell"

ive found 3 words that i think were spelled wrong (or needed to said differently)
what i found a little fun was story for the heroinne, she got dropped
into the deep end and got bits and pieces, i think this might of been deliberate
as the story went on we got more and more of the what, why and how.

eventho i thought i might not like it all that much am glad i was proven wrong
this book had it all, and is a perfect standalone for when your waiting for a new book
in a series or if your in a reading block, pick up this book and be pleasently surprised.

Gabriella leads a boring life with little money and no job... Until the day she is attacked in an alleyway by something.
When she wakes up to three strange men who draw her in, she has no idea who they are.
After bonding with them, she is surprised to find out they are demons and she is not quite what she always thought either.
Finding out that there are actually six of them that are all meant for her...her life has changed completely since she died in that alley.

This was an interesting storyline with demons, fighting, hellcats and sexual bonding. I enjoyed this book with its scenes of passion and the utter adoration these men had for their female.
I've never read a reverse harem with six men before but it works with each offering something to the connection.
I am constantly surprised by the talent I find reading random paranormal romance and must say this author has buckets of talent when it comes to fleshing out a story.

When I started reading this story that starts with Gabriella going on a job hunt and gets two interviews so she decides to go to the library to compose her resume when passing a alley, she gets attacked. Three men appear and to save her they bond with her as a mate. As I continual reading this story it evolves that they are demons. Zander, Ryth, Branh, Xavier (Lucifer), Aiden, Silas, and Gabriella who discovers she's a omega she-demon and also the sin of Lust. Together they portray the Seven Sins. They enter the "culling" to regain their seats in the Council and to overthrow Cain who is running Hell. Gabrielle also discovers her cat Shadow is also a hellcat who she loves in this very tantalizing enjoyable well written reverse harem with steamy romance and combative action in this reverse harem that I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

** 4.5 stars **

I loved the darker premise of the demons being given designations of A/b/o in this story. I couldn't help but be a fan of the antiheros as Lust and the rest of her men fight to take back hell from the usurper and put all the realms back in balance.

It's a fast burn, hot, and often bloody story about discovering that you can be more than you thought - to yourself and others. Just take that first step in believing and trusting. This book is full of lovely dark and beautifully twisted themes, my friends so don't delude yourselves. If aggressive RH smex isn't your thing, don't bother reading. Overall besides a few typos, I felt it was another great book by the author

This was a fun quick read with a HEA. I liked the combination of the Omegaverse and demons. The description said dark RH, but I didn't think it was that dark... maybe I'm just desensitized.
This story is about a female who dies only to be brought back as a demon she has always been. She is one of the 7 deadly sins (lust) and she then finds her six mates (Pride, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, Greed, Envy) throughout the book while also competing in the culling. These sins are on a mission to free and place Lucifer back in the seat of power in hell. All and all it was a pretty good book, interesting story line and world building.

This was so much more than what I expected it to be. I love the vision the author had for this universe. It really gets you thinking of all the possibilities. I love all the testosterone of the Alphas but also their vulnerabilities, especially towards Gabrielle. She being their soul purpose for fighting so hard to survive. Although, I do have to say that I was confused with the terms "kagma, phizra, and sythica"; they threw me off since I am so used to alpha, beta and omega. It was hard trying to remember what each stood for. Otherwise, this is another great addition to the Omegaverse universe.

Dragged Under was nothing like my normal reads yet from the start my interest was piqued and this unique storyline kept me entertained until the last page. I liked how the author presented each of the Seven Deadly Sins and painted such a vivid image of their world. Though there were definitely some steamy moments that I enjoyed I would have loved a bit more of character depth. I mean I loved Wrath and rooted hard for the rest of the sins but I was left wanting to know more about all of them. This book was a interesting reverse harem peppered with angels, demons, sins, suspense, action and steam.

How many??

This is the best book I’ve read by D.E. Chapman. Do you ever wonder what happening in Hell? This book explains it all with a reverse harem of demons. The sins are all present, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Envy, Pride, Lust and Wrath fighting for all of Hell. Each character has their own story and past adventures. This is also a hot story sex wise, a really hot love story. Check it out! If you have triggers that involve the devil, and hot multi partner sex this is not the book for you! I need another one DE!!!!!

The Seven Deadly sins are sinfully good in this book! Any book that features the seven sins and a sexy Lucifer is usually one id pick up to read regardless but Dragged Under has a pretty good if fast read story to go with it. Quiet, loner Gabrielle has her world turned upside down when shes attacked and 3 hot men - Zander, Brant and Ryth come to her rescue. I loved the dynamic between Gabrielle and the guys even if the sexy times seemed to kick off pretty quickly. It was steamy as hell (pun intended!!). It was a really good read that i enjoyed reading

Amazing since there is Alpha and Omega Dynamics, Seven Deadly sins demons and the devil in this book. If you love DE Chapman or if you love romance with a darker shade sit back and enjoy.

Not as dark as I was expecting and I’m am 100% ok with that. There was some humor, some smexy men, a woman that finds herself and her own strength and some decent baddies. Thoroughly enjoyed this read during a long road trip, kept me entertained and engaged.
