extremely readable and potentially very useful. as someone who has absolutely no tech knowledge, i think i might have liked the sections on cameras and lenses to be a bit more fleshed out. but overall, this is a very enjoyable little primer for anyone who's considering dipping their toe into the independent low/no-budget film world. and even if you aren't it's still a extremely pacey, well written & fun look into how truly independent creators operate.

most of cody's films are currently available freely on his youtube channel. i think they're all interesting, enjoyable & worthy of your time, but i particularly enjoy ramekin, ramekin 2 and strummer & think those would be particularly good entry points.

Fantastic starter guide for anyone interested in making a movie and overcoming the pre-conceived ideas of who is allowed to make a movie. YOU are. Cody Clarke leads by example and provides tangible insight while leaving enough room for the reader to form their own ideas and methods; a crucial step for any budding artist aside from taking that first plunge into the staggering, and sometimes overwhelming, ocean of creativity.
