Jack and Red are having a hard time dealing with their new lives in Neverland. They've been taken in by the pirates, led by the eccentric and theatrical Captain Glass, which makes them number one enemies for the most powerful being on the island, Peter Pan, and his Lost Boys. However, facing down Peter Pan is the only option to leave, and Red is determined to escape and return to her family on Earth. Jack, on the other hand, is not so keen to leave Neverland. What did he have on Earth? When a familiar face from his past shows up in Neverland, he rethinks the danger that he is in and decides that perhaps staying here would not be so bad, even if every day is a struggle just to survive. Still, he made a promise to Red that he would get her back home, and he intends to keep that promise. Things are spiraling out of their control. Jack's fairy dust addiction is steadily growing worse. Red is haunted by nightmares and guilt about her grandmother's death. Their new friend Ben is just trying to get his tribe back and rescue them from the violent rule of his sister White Cloud. In order to solve their problems, they must all work together to try to defeat Peter Pan once and for all. However, things are not all that simple. One of Peter's Lost Boys has been ordered to kill Jack, but no matter how many perfect opportunities he gets, he won't do it, and Jack can't figure out why. Also, another adversary has joined the Lost Boys, a girl from Earth calling herself Jill the Ripper, who just might be a more violent and sadistic enemy than Peter Pan. Meanwhile, Jack and Red are trying to navigate this strange world and their feelings toward themselves, toward one another, and toward the others around them, all while trying to survive and understand the roles they're meant to play in Peter's war games.

This book was so great at delving more into the characters and what makes them tick. It did a great job of making you feel what the character was feeling while also moving the story forward. And, I don't want to give anything away, but the ending makes you so excited to see where this awesome author will take you from here!
