DELANEY
I’m a good girl who makes good decisions.
He’s my professor with eyes that see right through me.

I’ve spent my whole life working for what I have.
One captivating professor can’t change that now.

ASHER
I’m the English department head.
She’s my beautiful student in the mentor program.

The dean says she’s a perfect fit.
I say she’s too perfect.
Is she a strait-laced Bo Peep, or is there fun lurking behind those eyes?
I shouldn’t want to find out.

This book is so ADORABLE
Like yes please.
Professor and student who also were kind of working at the same place with a strict policy of no getting involved with students??
Y E S

The banter and THE TENSION is just *chef's kiss*
I'd say the intensity was medium-ish (like nothing too over the top sexy kinky stuff and not all of it vanilla either)

Pls they're so cute and damn people doing the dirty on the library floor?? Mmhhmm okkaayy I see👀
Such a lighthearted cute ass book ughhh love that.
The way the characters were written. So good. And love the way that the secondary characters had their own part in the book and did not feel like they were disappearing in the background.
As someone who reads the most of dark romance this book was a lovely small town romance palette cleanser

Delaney moves to Foxe Hill for the summer to work at the local community college, in the hopes of getting a reference from the Dean after working as her right hand woman, creating a budget for the next school year. That’s how she meets Asher, the head of the English department and her poetry professor. Asher is desperate for more funding for his department and it just so happens he needs to suck up to his student in order to (hopefully) ease his overworked short staff.

Asher also turns out to be Delaney’s roommate’s good friend and Delaney is instantly thrust into their friend group. It becomes clear pretty quickly that the boundaries that should exist between Asher & Delaney are basically nonexistent. And they’re realizing that their feelings for one another make them want to throw everything out the window in the name of love.

Present Perfect by Julie Olivia is book 2 in the Foxe Hill series. This is a cute, low angst small town romance. If you want forbidden but not too forbidden, this may be the romance for you. I enjoyed it, but felt bored at times. I wanted more tension between our hero & heroine. I didn’t find this inherently bad by any means, it just wasn’t it for me. 3/5 stars.

Today is officially the last student day of school! I’m still working for the rest of the week with professional development and curriculum writing. I’m hoping that this will help me finally get back into my reading and posting groove. The last few weeks have been hard an draining. Summer is finally in sight though!

Present Perfect by @julieoliviaauthor came out last Thursday! It’s the companion novel to Match Cut and I had been dying to get more of this small town! In this book we are following Violet’s brother Asher! He’s a professor at the local community college. This summer in walks in, Delaney, a dean’s intern/student! A slow burn romance starts to bloom between them.

❤️Review❤️

I love this small town so much! All of the characters or charisma of the town draw you in from the very first page. I liked that this one toyed with the line of taboo because she was a student, but also an employee. It made it feel like a risk, but appropriate at the same time. This is a true slow burn romance as it takes the couple a good chunk of the books before they truly acknowledge their feelings for each other. The way everything played out in the end was satisfying. I can tell by how she wrote some characters that this won’t be the last that we see of this wonderful small town and cast of characters!

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you @julieoliviaauthor for the e-arc for review!

Julie Olivia brings us another amazing love story from Foxe Hill, filled with all the small town drama. Asher, a professor at the local community college is the epitome of small town hero. He is known and loved by everyone, smart and sweet, and a true gentleman. His reputation as a great teacher is known throughout Foxe Hill. Delaney, the summer intern/student is very determined and focused. She is only in town for six weeks to gain some references for her resume and add some credits to help her graduate. She did not expect to form any friendships while accomplishing her goals. When the two cross paths their connection is instant. They have a definite push and pull relationship that makes working together awkward. Add her being in his summer class and things get even more tense. I loved reading this story and watching things develop between these characters. The tension within the situation was radiating from the pages! And those hidden moments were so steamy! The way the author pulled secondary characters into the main plot line was amazing! I was hooked from the first chapter!

**I received this book as an arc in exchange for an honest review.**

Rating 3/5⭐️

I really enjoyed this short, fluffy book. I do however think that the conflict at the end didn’t have high enough stakes for me to feel for the characters enough and I would have liked more scenes after Asher and Delaney decided to start their relationship. I’m really keen on reading the next book in this series when I need a pick me up on a bad day.

This was a fun first-read by this author, and I will certainly be reading other books she's written. When a student is also part of the summer staff, the lines get blurry, and there's a lot of grey area. The characters were very well developed, the plot was fun with a good amount of spice that keeps you interested in continuing to read, but not so much that you'd be embarrassed to read in public.

I did receive an ARC of this book, but this review is my own, and I am not getting endorsed for my positive review.

This book was SO cute and so fun.
It was like this amazing combination of enemies to lovers and student/professor.

Their banter produced THE most tension and I was legitimately SUPER stressed. But in such a good way.

The slow burn and the overwhelming tension in the first half of the book, make that first kiss that much better.

I LOVE confident female MCs who don't need to be rescued by the male and are driven and have goals and don't bend for the man.. and THAT is exactly what Delaney is. She is such a great character.

AND Asher - he's that perfect southern gentleman that makes you swoon. But THIS cowboy is also in to poetry. Excuse me while I melt over here.

Delaney & Asher. Professor & student. “Grey area.” Two souls just looking for someone to call them home.

Julie brings people to Foxe Hill and makes them fall in love (it’s me. I’m people). Straight laced Delaney and homebody Asher are enemies to lovers that are Velcro from the very beginning. I loved watching Delaney’s walls come down for him, and Asher’s fun-loving nature find peace in her. The Foxe Hill crew makes you feel like home, leaves you wanting to make your home in a small town, and has you craving a good ole cherry donut.

Julie continues to surprise me with the hidden depth in her stories that push the characters right off the page and into my world. The tension she builds between our love interests have me hanging on to each page, waiting to see who is going to break first. And let me tell you, it ALWAYS ends up satisfying. ⁣

Overall, this one is four full stars for me! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⁣

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.

This was a fun read about Asher (who we have met before when Saria visited Foxe Hill in the book In the Wild and in the first Foxe Hill book) a 30 something English department head at the community college and Delaney a student who is working at the college and taking a class for 6 weeks over the summer. This story avoided cookie cutter story telling and brought the characters to life by giving them more depth and surrounding them with other engaging characters. I felt like I was getting to know Asher and growing with Delaney throughout the book. I sometimes felt like the story was a mix of a good sitcom and a romantic comedy. The characters had great chemistry, and I loved seeing them interact with an array of characters in various settings.

I wish the story telling of after they became a couple had a little more time in the book. It felt like a lot happened quickly at the end and it was bookended by a quick wrap up of what it looked like once Asher and Delaney were together. In the Into You series I felt like I got more closure with the characters than I got in this book.

While the book is technically an enemies to lovers I never felt like they were really in the enemies role. They also technically fall into student/teacher relationship but as the book points out many times they’re existing in that as a gray area since they are also semi colleagues. Some may also consider this an age gap relationship, though that played very little into the story.

While we see Asher in previous books, there is no need to read those before reading this book. This is also the second book in this series, but you do not have to read the first book prior to reading this one.

Overall this was a great read. Took me about 3.5/4 hours to read and spice starts around 60/65% into the book. I’m looking forward to the rest of this series!

Such a cute small-town romance! This is my first visit to Foxe Hill, and I love this cozy little town. Present Perfect is a low-angst romance with a good balance of sweet, funny, and sexy.
•••
Delaney is in Foxe Hill for six weeks, taking a class and doing an internship at the local college. She's not there to make friends. She's focused on her future career, and she just wants to earn her credit, do her job, and get back to her life in Boston.

Asher is a Foxe Hill native and head of the English department at the college. He's charming and an all-around nice guy that's loved by pretty much everyone in town.

Asher and Delaney are immediately attracted to each other, but they also immediately start butting heads when they discover Asher is Delaney's professor (and she thinks his poetry course is a blow-off class), and Delaney's also been tasked with creating the budget for the upcoming year (and Asher has to prove his department needs more funds).
•••
This is a nice slow burn. There's a lot of sweet moments (but also some really hot, tension-filled moments) as Delaney & Asher slowly become friends, fight their attraction, and get over their initial (bad) impressions. I loved how feisty Delaney was, but she's also really closed off and determined to stay focused. That made Asher – as the charismatic, outgoing, boy next door – a great complement to her. And when they do get together - can you just say "library hook-up"? 🔥🥵

I also couldn't get enough of the Foxe Hill crowd, specifically Asher's sister and his group of friends. It was great to see them pull Delaney into their group without her fully realizing it until it was too late. Julie's created a friend group that everyone will want to be part of. And all the food! The whole time I was reading, I kept craving donuts and Mama Ellis' biscuits and cookies.

Delaney and Asher are a wonderful pair. Fiery, strong-willed, and hopelessly falling for one another. The colleague relationship they share offers a grey area to their student-teacher relationship which creates such divine tension and angst throughout.

The heat level wasn't as spicy as I'd have liked but the romantic sexy scenes were still well written and fitted perfectly into this story.

It was a wonderfully enjoyable read and for anyone looking for a quick romance with an enemies to lovers undertone to it, this is the books for you.

I'm really thankful for Julie Olivia for giving me this wonderfully this arc and can honestly say I loved reading it!

Julie Olivia gets better with each book.
I was almost Team Asher when he was very consoling and supportive of Saria. Well, we all know Harry turned out pretty perfect for Saria. Still. So, I was already rooting for Asher.
Taboo was not top on my list though.
But Asher and Delaney's story was pleasant and such a heady combination of forbidden romance and warm ever-lasting friendship-based love.
There were many traits that are rare in small town romance books like Delaney standing up for herself and Asher learning from her. I could go on and on and on. But I am not low enough to spoil the experience for you. To all the shy readers dreading taboo, don't. Trust Julie to make you not feel dirty enjoying it.
Can I also add how unique the names are? They are.
I'm already smirking knowingly at Max and Lily inwardly waiting impatiently for their story. I mean a hot hunky guy who reads books and bartends? Lily, Girl, you better whisk away the man before I catch a plane, come to Foxe Hill and do it myself.
Happy Reading Guys

There is a lot to like in this book. Sweet and slightly quirky characters. Timing and circumstances keeping love interests apart. Slow burn to a near explosion of feelings.
Strong female character with a take no crap type of attitude, knows what she wants and makes sure she is clearly understood. Quiet home town boy that seems stuck without fully knowing what is holding him back. Fun side characters to round out the full group of friends.

I really enjoyed the story as a whole but it just felt like something was missing. The story stems from a girl straddling the line of student and staff and finding a love interest in her professor. The way they met it seemed there would be more to discuss in the class he taught and her views of the subject but after that initial build up of animosity it simply seemed to disappear and the story focused on other parts of their growing feelings and why they can't really be together.

Stop what you are reading and read this book!!

This is enemies to lovers, forbidden romance at its finest. Holy cr*p the chemistry between Asher and Delaney were off the charts!! I loved every minute of this book! It was so nice to see Keaton and Violet and the rest of the crew again, it was like revisiting friends.

Can I just make note of their first kiss!!! Hold my kindle, I need to take a cold shower right now!! YES! Julie Olivia, you know how to write chemistry! Not only was this book full of passion and loving looks, but it was also so sweet and tender. Asher, had me swooning!

I can't get enough of this series! I need more.
This is the second book in the Foxe Hill series however it can be read as a standalone.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵 is a small town, enemies-to-lovers, student/professor romance set in the town of Foxe Hill. It was a lighthearted, fun read that was enjoyable to get through.

I loved our couple, Delaney and Asher, together. I think they were the perfect fit. Their bantering and the tension around these two! Oooof and that library scene!
I would have loved it even more if we could've seen actual professor/student interaction in class. Especially since it's the English department and I'm a sucker for poetry. That was also a bonus with Asher, him being a literature gentleman pulled at my heartstrings!

Even though book one didn't fully get my attention, i was still happy to see Violet and Keaton in this second book along with, hopefully, our next couple Lily and Max.

I really adore this author on Insta so I signed up as part of the ARC program. To be honest I was surprised by the writing skill (zero offense) and just kept thinking “man this author could really knock some fantasy world building out of the park”.

Pros-
This book is a perfect light beach read with a good slow burn and light heat, I would rate this a 🌶🌶 out of 5. Asher is a perfectly curated book boyfriend- I mean…the cowboy-poet always good for the swoon factor and the main character needed no saving and was perfectly imperfect.

Slightly spoilery
Cons- not into the V card forbidden love combo (especially with a strong female MC) but that’s just a personal preference… however of alllllll the V card romances I’ve accidentally read the “reveal” in this story was superbly done!

Present Perfect is a cute small town, age gap, student/professor book. I loved Delaney and so badly wanted her to find her place, her group, and could relate to her feelings of not belonging. Asher was perfection, trying so hard to do the right thing and keep boundaries. The secondary characters were great, the story was sweet, funny, and full of heart.

I don't want to give any spoilers, but I just have to say, there's a great sick scene where Asher's being friendly/helpful while Delaney's losing the contents of her stomach. The description of him wrapping her hair around his fist to keep it out of the way has me feeling confused. She's throwing up, in public, but it's somehow hot? Because he's got a fistful of her hair? What is going on?

4 Stars!

POV: Dual (1st Person)
Tropes: Student / Teacher, Forbidden Romance
Triggers: None

Likes: I love a forbidden teacher romance! This one is great because the age gap isn't too great, with Delaney being in her early 20's and Asher his mid 30's.

Dislikes: I wish Delaney wasn't a virgin, as I don't think the story needed that aspect.

Synopsis: Present Perfect follows Delaney, who temporarily joins Foxe Hill school to get the references for her resume, plus extra credits for her degree. And Asher, the head of the English department. Sparks soon start to fly, however even though she’s on the payroll, she’s also taking one of his classes and so nothing can happen between them…right?
Full of sweetness and steam, plus a dash of drama!

So cute! It’s a very sweet small-town romance. It has just a hint of taboo with the professor-student and age gap aspects, but even then it’s quite mild (avoiding spoilers, but this is not a standard professor-student power dynamic because she is his professional equal from a faculty standpoint). I thought it was well written and well edited.

I would classify this as a medium-burn: around halfway is when we get sex scenes (so not a fast burn where it’s hot and heavy from the start, but they do happen without too much delay, therefore not a slow burn either). The intensity is also medium (nothing truly kinky, but not totally vanilla either).

I’m a huge fan of dark romances, but I need a palate-cleanser, if you will, in between the intensity. And this was perfect!

This was an ARC but I’ve absolutely given my honest thoughts :)

“Present Perfect” by Julie Olivia.
This is the second book in the Foxe Hill series.
I have read most of Julie Oliva’s books and loved all of them. This one didn’t disappoint. “Present Perfect” is a small town romance that includes age gap and student/professor tropes. I LOVED this story. I loved the instant connection between Asher and Delaney and the flirting between the pair, but I also loved the tension between them and the fact that we got to see some enemies to lovers vibes in here too. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

i’m extremely happy with this book. i genuinely loved it. i can’t think of anything i didn’t like.

it was very sweet and adorable. nothing forced, nothing rushed, everything well balanced and linked together beautifully. it also had a twist i didn’t expect at all!

the main characters were pure and pleasant, and i found all the interactions between them lovely.

a very nice read that i highly recommend!

P.S.: i wish we could get more interactions of Keaton and Violet though, because, well, their book finished a bit too jerkily 🥲.

is a heartwarming romance set in a charming small town. The story follows Emily, a florist, and Jack, a newcomer with a mysterious past. Their connection blossoms as they navigate personal struggles and community events. Olivia's writing is engaging, with vivid descriptions and relatable characters. The themes of love, forgiveness, and new beginnings are beautifully explored. While the plot is somewhat predictable, the emotional depth and delightful setting make it a worthwhile read. This book is perfect for fans of cozy, feel-good romances.

This was such a fun enemies-to-lovers, “oops, I accidentally flirted with my professor,” small town romance! I mean, a cowboy adjacent poetry professor with a boyish smile? Sign me up!

I loved that we got to see characters from the first book (Violet & Keaton) back again, as well as a bit of setup for what I’m assuming the next book will be (Lily & Max). There was a twist at the end, too, that I definitely didn’t see coming, which was fun.

Thank you to Julie for the ARC!

I enjoyed this book so much! I read it from cover to cover in less than a day. There was plenty of spice, but emotions to go along with the spice (A necessity for me). I loved the forbidden love aspect, but I'm glad there was gray area to balance it out.
This was my first book by Julie Olivia (an ARC given in exchange for an honest review), but I will say I immediately bought the rest of the Foxe Hill saga. I've read one of them so far and it was just as good.

I'm a sucker for a love story that's meant to be. ❤
I read this Arc copy in less than two days and I was hooked within the first chapter! Delaney being a student / summer staff member and Asher being her professor, reading about their relationship as they danced in the grey zone of their relationship. 🔥🔥
