Jaymes Ford has never measured up to his brother. He was always second best as kids, he crashed and burned in SEAL training, and when Jaymes was kidnapped, the woman he loved fell for his brother.
Kelsea Arnold wants to believe she’s losing her mind, but she can’t shake the feeling of being watched. She’s never seen him, but she can feel him. Watching her. Following her. Wanting her.
Jaymes has nothing to offer the gorgeous, curvy woman who shows up on his mother’s doorstep trembling. He has no idea if she’s telling the truth or if it’s all in her head. But he knows how it feels to be in her shoes and chooses to protect her, even if it’s only from herself.
When it’s clear Kelsea is in grave danger, Jaymes vows to keep her safe. He’s finally found someone who makes him feel like he’s the better brother, and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
USA TODAY Bestselling Author Mary E Thompson spent most of her childhood wishing she had a few less curves. She hid in the pages of books because her favorite characters never cared what size her clothes were. Now, neither does Mary, and she writes stories that celebrate women like her. Real women who have curves, chase dreams, and find love, because we should all be happy, no matter our dress size. Mary spends her non-writing time with her husband and two kids, watching too much TV, cheering for her hometown football team (Go Bills!), and hiding chocolate from her family.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the author seems to have a real issue with fat people even though she writes "curvy" heroines.
One of the reason I wanted to read this series is because the heroines are supposed to be plus size but what's with the body negativity? And really...the heroines aren't really plus size at all. They're just not stick thin.
I liked this heroine much better than Lily in book 1. I also really loved the hero.
The book had more suspense and thrill.
I want to read book 3 but I'm worried about the offensive issues with fat bodies.
Jaymes Ford has never measured up to his brother, for example, he was always second best as a kid, crashed and burned in SEAL training and when Jaymes was kidnapped the woman he loved fell for his brother. Kelsea Arnold hopes she is losing her mind as she can't shake the feeling that someone is watching her. She never catches him, but she can feel him watching and following her. When Kelsea turns up at his mother's doorstep trembling in fear, Jaymes is prepared to investigate if she is telling the truth as he knows how it feels to be in her shoes. When it becomes clear that she is actually in grave danger he vows to keep her safe as he has finally found someone who makes him feel as if he is the better brother and he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe.
I loved this story and the mystery of who is after Kelsea which was actually quite complicated and not as simple as Jaymes and the team had hoped. It was so sweet to see them make a relationship together even though it started in such a strange way. There are a few surprises along the way but the main thing was that Jaymes came to his own and it was all to keep Kelsea safe and for her to be loved. An easy-to-read book that was clear and easy to understand. Contains mature content.
The second book in the series focuses on Jaymes and trying to find who is stalking Kelsea. The story features the F-bomb team which includes Archer and Lily. Jaymes is still recovering from being kidnapped and also losing his best friend Lily to Archer, so he still has a lot of issues to overcome. Kelsea who is a psychology professor at the university is dedicated to her work and cannot fathom who would stalk her. The team investigates and there follows the suspense and mystery of the investigation. Jaymes and Kelsea have a messy relationship marred by their own personal demons. A story well worth reading and although part of a series could still be read as a standalone.
One of those books you don't want to end. I loved Jaymes in the first book and was so excited he got his story. You can't help but fall in love with Kelsea. She is your average everyday person. One who doesn't think she is strong but when push comes to shove she steps up. I love Mary Thompson's characters. They are average real people. Not perfect with a little extra weight or a body not in shape. With the same insecurities we all feel.
I am loving this new series!! The romantic suspense storyline so well written. Kelsey is being stalked and no one believes her but Jaymes at first. Jaymes was kidnapped in the last book. He knows the feeling. He is still struggling with issues from the kidnapping. This is such a good book!! Can't wait for the next book!!
Great chemistry between the main characters. The story has some violence in this case. There's murders, stalkers, ex navy seals, the story has it all. It was fast pace. This book is part of a series of books that are a must read for action pack adventure.
