Deathlands #33

Eclipse at Noon

Rate this book
The nuclear exchange that ripped apart the world destroyed a way of life thousands of years in the making. Now, generations after the nuclear blight, Ryan Cawdor and his band of warrior survivalists try to reclaim the hostile land, led by an undimmed vision of a better future.

Hard on the heels of their escape from a powerful baroness, the wayfarers arrive at the shore of the might Mississippi. As if whisked back in time, they find themselves passengers on a riverboat plying the waters and offering every gambling pleasure. It's a high old time with the genial captain, until the stakes escalate to nightmare proportions, and Ryan is sold to the highest bidder.

It's winner take all in the Deathlands.

It has a lot of intense graphic sounds (explosions, gun fire, knife throwing sound effects…) to accompany the plentiful action scenes. It helped keep me alert as I listened to this audio book while driving home from Elko, NV to Carson City, NV. If this is your first DEATHLANDS story you will not understand the interactions of the characters and the back story given through out will not be complete enough to alleviate the confusion. Those who are familiar with the series will not be overly impressed by the tale. I am giving it 3 stars since it helped kept me out of the ditches on my drive. This audio book will be registered at BOOKCROSSING.COM then sent to Arizona to be enjoyed be my sister and brother in-law.

An average apocalyptic adventure story. This one takes a century after the last war and now there are mutants running around the earth. Recommended
