On Grassy Key, things aren’t as idyllic as they seem. The quiet, sleepy community has been awakened. A young woman with strong ties to the community is missing. A local craftsman, the last person to see the girl, is questioned and released. The girl’s friends are interviewed. Nobody knows what happened to Cobie, except that she left for work one day and didn’t arrive. The only lead is the girl’s car, parked where she worked. But it provides no clues and nobody saw anything. Days go by. Then weeks. The case grows cold. The employer of the girl’s mother knows Jesse McDermitt, a retired Marine and reputed government spook. Jesse leans on people the way only he can and soon finds there is a lot more to the abduction than anyone knew. Does he find the missing girl? Does he survive what he uncovers? Find out in this 19th novel in Wayne Stinnett’s wildly popular Jesse McDermitt Caribbean Adventure Series.
I'm a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps and now, a full time novelist. Between those careers, I've also worked as a deckhand, commercial fisherman, divemaster, taxi driver, construction manager, and truck driver. I live in the Sea Islands, near Beaufort, SC, with my wife and youngest daughter. We also have three grown children, five grand children, three dogs and a whole flock of parakeets. I grew up in Melbourne, FL and have also lived in the Florida Keys and Cozumel, MX.
Stinnett originally wrote the McDermitt thrillers focusing on The Keys, boats and diving with an adventure attached. Lately he's fallen into the trap of so many authors. Writing for the money. McDermmitt novels are no longer about The Keys. The boats are in it just to showcase the number Jesse has accumulated over the years.
Once again, Mr. Stinnett has written another book that restores my faith in the good versus evil among our fellow man & inspires the reader to set their eyes on the horizon in search of adventure. This series is a fine example of why Wayne Stinnett has earned his spot among great adventure writers such as Cussler. I prefer these books due to their more relatable locations. I spend a lot of time on the water off my home state of South Carolina but live further inland in the Appalachia Foothills. The past year of uncertainty, lockdowns & other insanity has made it difficult to even make the 3+ hour drive to the intracoastal, but reading Jesse McDermitt’s adventures have become a happy escape on their own. I recommend this book & I can not wait for more! Fair winds & following seas, T. Hayes
I love Wayne Stinnett’s books and “Rising Moon” is the last one I have read. I am going through his books one at a time. It took me only one day to read “Rising Moon” as I couldn’t put it down, although I had to stop and do my housework. It’s a good thing I’m retired. Good on Mr Stinnett to point out the horror of how some women are treated so badly by awful people and I’m glad, in this story, the villains got their comeuppance, and the victims were amply compensated. I loved the way he saluted the Marines by bringing Tank into the story and describing some of the horrific battles they completed. Sadly, Tank won’t be with this series for long. The ending was excellent because he and Samantha were finally married. I recommend this series to everyone who loves an adventure with lots of action. I am looking forward to the next in this series.
Rising Moon quenched my thirst for anything Jesse McDermitt-related...for a bit! This novel was exciting, endearing, and multi-faceted! Jesse's dry wit is met head on by Savannah's own brand of humor. I am very pleased that they finally got hitched! Florence seems to be coming into her own now, too. It is very sad to hear the ending because I know I can't just read the next one by the end of the year! I cannot thank the author enough for putting this novel, as well as all the ones he writes, through the vigorous editing, spell-checking, and grammatical scrutiny needed to make his books truly pleasurable to read! I wish all authors would take the time to take these steps. I absolutely love Rising Moon!
In the story Jesse refers to Savanna as a guardian Angel. I would like to think that there are people in this world who would rise to the occasion as Jesse does and right others wrongs. I would say that Jesse’s character is a guardian Angel. What a great story! The subject matter is deplorable. To know that there are people out there who have no regard for the lives of others and to treat them as their personal play things, knowing they will be discarded when they tire of them. Thank you Wayne for keeping these lost soles fore most in our minds. May the Jesse’s of the world hold fast to their convictions.
Love the series. They hit me on many levels during these divisive times. Jesse & I would surely disagree on many political fronts, but he does what he does out of empathy turned into action via his particular skill set. His violence trained in the defense of our Nation and our Constitution functions to help those in various forms of need, not to exploit them. He uses his wealth in the same way. The division in the US today is NOT about honest political differences and perspectives. It is about differences in empathy, compassion for others, respect for others, and....well, I guess I will get off my soap box.
We need more competent & diverse heroes in this world who can't be bought.
What a rollercoaster of a book, from the start to the finish. Jessie was his brilliant best doing what he has always done and killing off the bad guys into the bargain, then splitting up the gold. Very interesting to find out about Tank and the US Marine Corps. It was lovely to read about all his contemporaries too and at last he has found someone to hopefully live with for the rest of his life (Wayne) to take note!!
The books keep getting better and better. The stories are well crafted with many interesting and diverse people. I have read all of them and enjoyed every one. Wayne Stinnett has become over time an excellent writer and storyteller. He tells it like it is and has brought Jesse along an incredible journey. I hope the journey continues for a long time! I will be eagerly awaiting the next book.
Jesse is the embodiment of David conquering Goliath. The world needs many more Jesse/Davids. The skill exhibited by Wayne Stinnett in bringing Jesse and the rest of the support characters to life is truly remarkable, thank you Wayne. **Caveat to Wayne Stinnett: Please don’t kill off Tank, too soon, just look at how long we who have enjoyed and respected Alex Trebeck were able to travel the last miles with him enduring the very deadly pancreatic cancer.
This the 10th Volume of the series engaged me even more quickly than the previous one. It also held a great many surprises, along with some history references to military actions past.
It is a book filled with storms, though not all storms are meant to destroy, (you will understand once you read the book).
I most highly recommend this book. I also recommend that you begin with the first and work your way here, as that too is an adventure of storms.
This is just what I needed a great book to read I lost my best friend she has been with me for 13 years they thick and thin cancer surgeries and all she waited for me to heal and her memory will linger on this book kept my mind occupied her name was Marlee a Scottish terrier. God bless all out there from costa Rica with prayers for a better healthier world, thank you Wayne Stinnett.....
Love how Jesse does what is right, and is The guy used at the head of the spear. Loved Tank and hope to see more of him. Loved to see the other side of Savannah ! Always hard to read about people that are driven to do the unseemly and don't care about what harm they inflict on others. Always love it when their payday comes and the good guys deliver the just reward due the wicked. May Jesse and the team live many days to fight the good fight.
I could get give this less then 5 stars, didn't think after 18 books Mr.Stinnett could Drag me back into Jesse world again,I started and didn't put it down till the story was over. I laughed and cried a little, that is a sign of a great story from a great storyteller.it hurts to know I won't be in Jesse and his friends world again till April!!
Wonderful story and continuing development of the great characters in this series, especially the addition of "Tank"! Also very fulfilling unraveling and understanding of Jesse's past, and Savannah's! I loved it and would've given it 5 Stars but for the relatively simplistic climactic antagonist's demise!
After reading all of your books I find myself anxiously awaiting the next. You are, by far, the best "tropical author" out there. A lot of the books I skim a lot of the blah, blah to get to the end, but Jesse is so full of drama on every page I savor each word. Keep writing, Wayne.
This is a great book for suspense lovers. I wish I could say that I was able to tear myself away. As with everything that Wayne writes, I know to clear my calendar. Once I start, I can't stop. I truly appreciate Wayne Stinnett and his fantastic story telling ability.
Another Jesse story I couldn't put down. Always introducing new geography of The Keys & different story lines. Nice to read about the gathering of Jesse's band of friends to help in this book. Look forward to the next book & the adventures of The McDermott family.
I feel as though this book was a lot like the first couple of Jesse books. I cannot begin to express how much I have enjoyed finding my Jesse McDermitt books and getting to explore the Florida keys. Thank you so very much Mr. Stinnett for giving me these gifts.😘
The idea of becoming a married person, brings around the soul searching . Who am I and what is my life going to be?. Jesse is no different. He is very caring person and when someone, especially a young woman, is in trouble; Jesse is going to do all that he can to make things right. Loved this story from beginning to end.
I finished this tale on Memorial Day weekend. My thanks to Wayne and Jessie and Tank. And all the brave marines like Lee Marvin And Captain Kangaroo who was actually a hero at Iwo Jima. And to all our veterans like my older brother who served in Vietnam in the coastal waters . Semper Fidelis. Live long and prosper!
Another adventure in the continuing Jesse McDermitt saga...full of action, tension and unexpected twists and turns. The story was docompelling that I reeived the book this aternoon and read it in one sitting. Ready for Book 20!
This turned out to be one of my favorite Jesse books. Wayne really hit it on the head. A new character is introduced; more insights into Jesse, and of course taking out the bad guys all add up to a great read.
Once again Jesse saves the day with the help of his friends. I'm glad to re reintroduced to Master Gunny Tank. His character adds to Jesse's back story. I can see Tank and Jesse and Rusty having some excellent adventures.
Good story line and the fact that the characters evolve make the story line more believable and enjoyable. Unfortunately I finished the book in two and are now looking forward to the next chapter in Mr and Mrs McDermitt’s lives.
I got the first book as a freebie and before I was done i couldn't wait for the next one. The characters are awesome. I just started this yesterday and I'm already finished and again can't wait for the next one.
As always, a fast moving, riveting story. Savannah and Jessie planning their wedding. Women being abducted, drugs and the monsters who sell them made to pay for their wrong doing.
I always enjoy the characters and the storyline and the fact that sometimes justice is required by people with a strong moral compass and a sense of right and wrong . Thanks Wayne
As with all of his other books I love this one. I know this may not be real, but it is enjoyable to see the bad guys receive justice. The action is constant and can't wait for next book to publish.
