A Lesson in Blackmail: Black Mountain Academy / A Club Alias Novel

Rate this book
I’ve made it my life’s mission to make the school librarian squirm.
This school is mine—literally, my family built Black Mountain Academy generations ago—and I own everything in it. And I, Nathaniel Black IV, won’t stop until that includes her.

She just started this year, my senior year, her first job right out of college. She calls it her dream job, but I’ve had the sick pleasure of making my study period with her every day more a nightmare. I’m fixated on her, obsessed with her, and all I want is to feel the skittish little mouse beneath me.

I can’t get her out of my head, not even while partying at my friend’s house, every girl vying for my attention. But they don’t stand a chance, not when my focus is on Ms. Evelyn Richards. She makes me feel… things I don’t understand. Possessive yet… protective. I can f— with her, but no one else can.

Compulsion strikes, the other half of my disorder, and that night I set out to find where she lives. And what I discover changes both our lives.

The perfect information for blackmail. The perfect secret to hold over her head to get what I want.

Her.

A Lesson in Blackmail is a full-length novel in the Black Mountain Academy series. It is a crossover standalone with KD Robichaux's Club Alias series.

"You show up to school every day in your perfectly pressed blouse and pants, your pretty little shoes, your hair straight and neat, your nails never even chipped. For a guy like me, who needs order, who needs things straight, and clean, and aligned, and perfect… you were easy to become obsessed with. And then the first time you cowered from me, flinched away at a loud noise I made, blushed at the shit I say to you… it made me feel powerful. Powerful in a way I’ve always craved but never had an outlet for."

full disclosure :
the title is misleading and ‘a lesson in blackmail’ is the lightest, sweetest, utmost unconventional D/s romance i’ve ever read. blackmail? uh, plsss. there is no such thing here.

And with wet towels in her hamper and pillows strewn on the floor, with my shirt in another room instead of in line with everything else on her dresser and wet footprints along the bathroom floor, it’s then I realize… Evelyn is my dose, my drug, the perfect cocktail, and I’m exactly where I need to be.

this book doesn't even have blackmail?? also im starting to realize that my biggest issue is that none of these books connect like I understand they're set in the same school but if nate's parents started the school why isn't he mentioned in the other books? Cole from rowdy boy was the schools rockstar that the girls loved but isn't mentioned in the other books? I think the problem with these books is that each book is trying to have an alpha guy and on its own its good but in a series about a school it doesn't work. ive read 5 of these books in 24 hours and honesty doesn't even feel like they're in the same school unless they mention the schools name and that's it. I think the authors should've gotten together and planned this better instead of just being like "yeah lets just put them in the same school"

Hot!

This was a hot little read! The author did a great job of creating an 18 year old guy, that’s still in high school, and made him come off with this intensity that most older male characters can’t achieve. I enjoyed this.

SCHOOLED BY THE TEEN DOM & KINKY LIBRARIAN -- HOT LESSONS THAT LOST STEAM

“They say it’s the quiet ones who are the freaks.”

In bed, that is. Taboo romance -- especially age gap and “hot for teacher” trysts -- are the jelly to my jam. Can’t live without it. While gathering my thoughts for a delayed review, I realized the story had no sticking power without re-reading the blurb. Not a good sign. The author is new to me, but the steaming hot subject matter drew me right in. Technically though, it really isn’t taboo or student-teacher or even age gap. Just a high school student and sexy, young librarian that explore their kinky sides with each other and fall in love.

The 4 year age difference (18 and 22) is nothing and makes student Nate Black and newbie librarian Evelyn Richards more like peers. Not taboo either because Evelyn isn’t even Nate’s teacher, and he’s the age of consent anyway. They’re actually a perfect love match. Evelyn aka “Mouse” is the meek but unconsciously sexy librarian with a yen to be submissive, and Nate is a closet dominant about to burst. Some breathy chemistry, flirtatious bullying, a bit of stalking, and blackmail lead to the couple getting frisky under the covers while exploring their secret desires.

It all starts at a pricey sex club where Evelyn is a member and submissive-in-training, but abandons that when Nate blackmails her into practicing their kink on each other. I was really into the setup of domineering Nate’s predatory pursuit of the shy librarian, the sexual tension of their encounters, his bullying/taunting of her as foreplay, and his sexual excitement feeding off her flustered responses. He obsesses, stalks, and finally corners her in that blackmail moment when their chemistry finally explodes. They were more than typical caricatures. Each had their own personality quirks and idiosyncrasies -- Nate is pretty OCD and Evelyn has her own cute, mental health issues. They just fit together like missing puzzle pieces and perfect bed mates that were tolerant of each other’s quirks in a kismet way.

All that good stuff faltered when their trysts became ridiculously careless in public, and lost momentum from nonstop sex scenes that were like instructions on becoming a dom-sub couple. The repetition of it flattened the story and my interest in the latter half. They were young, reckless and horny with some personal catharses before a really long wait to the altar! Not sure why the wait. And generally I’m so tired of authors’ lazy overuse of the surrender phrase “I’m yours” before, during and after sex. So overdone that it’s become meaningless, trite, and annoying. Please come up with a different phrase. I will still read this author again. FYI: You don’t “consecrate” a marriage, you CONSUMMATE it!

TikTok made me do it...

Yeah, that's right. I found this gem when the author shared one of the steamy scenes on TikTok.

“Baby, if you come, I’ll just keep going. I’ll keep going, even if you beg me to stop. The only thing that’s going to make me end this is if you call your safe word. Your orgasms are my reward. They don’t tell me to stop. They tell me, ‘Good job, keep going.'”

Yes, please.

This follows a twenty-two year old mousy librarian, Evie, who recently started working at a prestigious school's library. She gets terrorized by a senior, Nate, every day during his study period. Evie can't help but to feel some kind of forbidden way about Nate. There is something about him that she is drawn too. Giving into that urge will cost Evie her job. It could even cost her all the hard work she has put into herself.

Nate isn't like others his age. He doesn't care about hookups or partying. He knows he is different because of his disorder, but there is something else. Is this reason the reason he is drawn to Evie? For one night, he gives in to the temptation and receives information that he can use for blackmail. Information he can use to make Evie his.

This book was the perfect amount of fantasy and realism. What I mean by that is - K.D. Robichaux was able to make me believe a seventeen year old was able to dominate an experienced twenty-two year old submissive. I was so invested in them as a couple. I was definitely cheering for them the entire book. Oh, and don't be fooled by this title! This is definitely not as dark as it sounds. It is very much a forbidden relationship with some super steamy D/s scenes.

I will definitely be picking up more by K.D. Robichaux!

A book in the Black Mountain Academy collection... Can't wait to read more from this series.

Nathaniel Black IV is the popular guy in class, rules the school and could have any girl he wants, but he is sick in lust for his little mouse of a librarian, Ms. Evie Richards. She is proper and straitlaced as they come. Well, he thinks that way until a friend of his mentions just how good the quiet ones are in bed.
That gets his already obsessive mind turning and he can't get her out off his mind. He knows there is something different about him and tries to keep it hidden from others. Tries to not let that beast out.

One day he decides to go to her house and ends up following her to a secret club she attends. He then "blackmails" her into a relationship to keep her kinks a secret.. which they both are a ok with!
What happens next is nothing short of scorching. He is a baby dom just learning the ropes and Evie is willing to submit to him freely.

Nate was caring and beyond complex. There was nothing cookie cutter about him. He just needed a little guidance to blossom... and that he did. He wasn't mean or demeaning to her. Evie was his equal through it all and she thrived on the submission. They fit together perfectly. He truly loved her. It was way more than just a d/s thing.

This was one hot, little read!

Another reread. Just skimming my favorite parts.
So happy I did a reread.
Alpha male student/ submissive librarian. Bdsm. Great communication. I ended up really enjoying it. I’ve never read about such a young dom, but the background and story line made sense.

THE COVER AND THE BOOK ITSELF SAID BLACKMAIL BUT FOR ME Not even close😂😂😂 because the blackmail only last for a few hours and then the hero said no its not blackmail. He truly wants her without any doubt omggggg😍😍🥺

‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS.
But both have been celibate for a while. I love that the hero even tho he have a past with girls but he immediately turns them off and declined them because he only wants the heroine.

“BUT I’VE SHOOED EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THEM AWAY, UNINTERESTED, MY MIND ON THE ONE WOMAN WHO WON’T LEAVE MY MIND AT PEACE WHEN I’M NOT AROUND HER.”

‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT.
But didn’t actually go for it, they have to wait for quite a while to figure things out.

OH BOY THE HERO JUST REALLY BECOME VERY OBSESSED WITH THE HEROINE!

‼️‼️‼️OLDER WOMAN AND YOUNGER MAN.

The heroine is 22 and the hero is 18.

‼️‼️‼️SAFE HOT ROMANTIC LOVE STORY...

‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING AND NO SEPARATION!

‼️‼️‼️NO DRAMA WITH OM. ONLY WITH OW BUT NOT TOO ANNOYING OR TOO MUCH. She was pretty much someone he used to sleep with but not anymore and she only said something to them.

‼️‼️‼️VERY VERY HOT SMUT SCENES.
At first both didn’t use a protection because both are clean and the hero didn’t have s*x with anyone for months when he first saw the heroine.

“AND SO I HAVEN’T BEEN WITH ANYONE ELSE SINCE THAT FIRST TIME I F*CKED YOU INSIDE MY MIND BECAUSE I KNEW IT WAS POINTLESS. NO ONE COULD MEASURE UP TO YOU, EVELYN.”
🥺🥺🥺🥺

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO IS OTT POSSESSIVE PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE! The heroine is a bit insecure and have little anxiety sometimes... both hero and heroine have their thoughts somewhere and was always feeling lost even in sexually. Thats why its so romantic when both are very into each other and feel the PULL because both know they are right and deserves each other. Even the heroine having something like anxiety ect and the hero also have something which im not going to give a spoiler here (nothing bad or too much) BOTH REALLY UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER AND JUST LOVING. Which i find to very romantic as hell 🥺🥺🥺

“I PLAND MYSELF DEEP AND GROWL FEROCIOUSLY, WHILE THE MOST POWERFUL, SOUL SHATTERING, MIND-ALTERING ORGASM TAKES OVER MY BODY. I’VE NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE, NOT WITH ANOTHER PERSON, NOT EVEN WITH MY HAND.”

“I GAVE YOU THE REAL ME. YOU’RE THE FIRST AND THE ONLY WOMAN TO ACCEPT THE PART OF ME I’VE ALWAYS KEPT HIDDEN.”

Even when things was caught between them, he always and always defends her and protects her...

“But I don’t give a sh*t. My woman comes above everything and everyone else. It’s my job to take care of her and I don’t give a f*ck who sees it.”

‼️‼️‼️THE HERO NEVER PUSH THE HEROINE AWAY. THE HEROINE DID ONCE AND NEVER AGAIN. The hero immediately knows her worries and her fears so he calms her very sweetly omg so sweet🥺

‼️‼️‼️IT HAS A LITTLE BDSM BUT NOT TOO MUCH. Eventually in the end the heroine invite the hero to join her to the bdsm club but not because they want to explore someone else or anything like that, BUT ITS ONLY FOR EACH OTHER.

“I PROMISE YOU, SWEET EVIE, YOU’RE MY ONE AND ONLY. NO PART OF ME OR OBJECT WIELDED BY ME WILL EVER TOUCH ANOTHER WOMAN BUT YOU, SUB OR OTHERWISE.”

‼️‼️‼️A FEW JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HERO AND LITTLE FROM THE HEROINE.

‼️‼️‼️HAPPY ENDING... got married and so happily in love its sooooo cute

While there have been exceptions I usually do not read BDSM romance books. I don't have a problem with them but rather they usually don't do anything for me. However I read this story because the summary stated that the hero, Nathaniel is jealous and possessive and totally obsessed with the heroine. Now heroes like Nathaniel are my jam.

I was glad that I read the story because not only was Nathaniel my type of hero but the sexy times were as well. The sex scenes were hot but not full of BDSM. No whips, chains and if there was spanking then I missed it. Rather Nathaniel is a baby DOM, just learning about who he is and so the story was more about finding out what worked for him, individually and with Evelyn "Mouse" as a couple.

I loved that he stopped having sex with OW after wanting Mouse. Nothing turns me off more than a manwhore who keeps up his manhoe behavior even after wanting a heroine. I also loved that Evelyn was not a repressed virgin. Rather she had good sexual experiences before being with Nathaniel, which is the way it should be as she was older than him and an adult.

This book was. SO. GOOD.
I've read D/s books before where the Dom was new and/or untrained, and reading about their journey intrigued me, and this book was more of the same. I love reading about a Dominant who doesn't yet know what He is, or that it's something more than just urges from within. That there are people just like Him, and others who crave to be on the receiving end of His need for control. Reading this book, of Nate's journey into becoming a Dominant, and also forming a relationship and falling in love with his heroine, Evie...it really lit me up. I enjoyed it very, very much. 5 stars

Wow! Wow! Wow!
This was certainly a scorching hot read that was full of steamy moments between these two characters. This is the third book in the interconnected series BLack Mountain Academy and features another side of this academy. This story really took me on one hot ride with the forbidden nature of the two characters' relationship and the way that they got together. But once i started this story, i could not put it down despite it being the early hours of the morning. I just wanted to find out what was going to happen to these characters.

Evie was a sweet character that has gone through a lot. Despite her being skittish and anxious a lot of the time, it is obvious the strength that she has and the courage she has by admitting what she wants in life.

Nate was the hot alpha male in the story that really grows throughout the story. He is a complex character that you really grow to love throughout the story. It is obvious in the story when he is with Evie how much he truly does care for her and how much he adores his time with her.

This story was told in dual points of views, which I really loved and really gave readers the chance to read what was going through both characters' heads. The story was flawlessly written by this author and really wrote a hot read.

'A lesson in blackmail' is a standalone Romance by the author K.D. Robichaux. Told in dual Perspectives , this book was an amazing Teacher Student romance!

Nate is pretty much the king of his school. He has everything and doesn't want anything more. But there has Always been an emptiness inside him. And emptiness that nothing could ever fulfill. That is until the new librarian at school arrives. The moment he sees the short but sweet woman who is a few years older than him , a missing price of souls gets put back together. Teasing her and making her squirm becomes one of his favourite pastimes and he just can't stay away from her. But Ms.Richards might not be as innocent as she seems. And her secrets are something that Nate is determined to uncover.

Evie has had a tough life. All she wants is to start new. Getting a job at the library was one of her best plans until the school's king sets his eyes on her. He spends his days tormenting her and making her uncomfortable. A part of him loves doing that and no matter what he does she can't stay away. But she has secrets . Secrets that he has now discovered. From their starts a journey of blackmail , hate and eventually love.

This story was good read but there were just too many sexual scenes and very less story itself. I loved the ending but it was a bit unrealistic to me. Things were too easy and couldn't wrap my head around it. Apart from that this book was. Good one . I wouldn't say an amazing, top read of mine , but a definite one time read for all the bully/blackmail Romance Lovers out there who are addicted to themes like older women and young men and a bit of a link in their books.

Just came from reading Pretty When She Cries so this is my second book in this series. It seems like it's in the same setting but different characters? All the H's of the series seem to be "kings" of the school and they all can't rule the school at once lol

While Pretty When She Cries was a bully enemies-to-lovers book that focused on drama this book focused more on the relationship aspect which I enjoyed. The BDSM was very lite and almost seemed like normal erotica to me.

I liked:
- H was all in with h from beginning. He was a manwhore but was celibate for a while thankfully.
- This h was a literal unicorn! She's shy and meek, yet goes to a sex club frequently and participated in all types of debauchery, which I loved! You RARELY get a manwhore hero with an experienced heroine so this was nice to read.
- While they were both experienced they did have some "firsts" with each other. Anal for her, and being dominant & eating out a woman for him.

Nothing too bad to say about this read. It wasn't dark at all and had low angst. No crazy OW drama. Safe book.

Great premise but not a good story. Everything resolves itself so neatly and there really wasn't much substance to make it memorable.

I was pleasantly surprised by this! I didn’t have super high expectations because the one other book I’ve read by this author I really didn’t like, but I’m always a sucker for student/teacher and was convinced to give this one a go and I really enjoyed it. I always am on the hunt for realistic and respectable OCD representation that isn’t characterized or used to describe a character who is a neat freak or like “omg I’m just so ocd about that” kind of thing. This was genuinely really good representation of it and anxiety and I really appreciated that. And the dynamic between Nate and Evie was hot so yeah overall a good time!

Started off pretty interesting considering the trope is student x school librarian in which I have never read before. BDSM and a sex club came into play which spiced things up… then everything just fell flat for me.

I feel like the book could have been way shorter considering there was more sex and BDSM than plot. I skimmed the last 10% of the story because I just got bored super quick. My reading slump is also not helping right now.

KD Robichaux has quickly turned into one of my favorite authors. I will literally drop any other book I'm reading if she puts out a new one. Priority y'all!

A Lesson in Blackmail is a wonderful and unexpected addition to her Club Alias series. Nathaniel and Evelyn's story will keep you on the edge of your seat. No spoilers but you're not going to be able to put this one down. Have some water nearby to cool you off because this book doesn't stop.

*KU Read

OMG, I loved this story. We have seen Nathaniel Black in another story so we knew he had some "issues" but we did not know what those issues were. Well, now we are getting his story and what a wonderful story it is.

Nathaniel has unexplained emotions for the librarian, when they get out of control Nate decides to follow her where he shouldn't. When he finds her at a BDSM club he has little idea why his little librarian would be at such a place. After getting her to come out and go home with him. These two have some much needed talking to do.

Evelyn “Evie” has a past that she has been dealing with since her parents passed away. So she has found being submissive has the answers she needs. But when she is caught at a BDSM club by Nathaniel things become different between the two of them.

Although this is a student and teacher story. Everyone is of age and consent. I absolutely fell in love with this story. What a great addition to this collection of stories!

Hot taboo read featuring student/teacher Dom/sub. I was enjoying this very much and then boom it was over. What? This is too interesting a story to be so incomplete. I would have loved to experience Nathaniel’s training and life after high school. I also would have loved some background on his parents. I suspect they have the same relationship as Nate and Evelyn but it wasn’t revealed. This could have been epic instead it is just very good. I do recommend this though for a quick scorching read. 4 could have been 5 stars.

Contrary to the questionable insinuation of the title, this was actually quite sweet? And although the story was mediocre at best, the fact that the hero not only practiced verbally praising other people so that he can do it perfectly for the heroine but also thoroughly researched how to become worthy of her was endearing to me. 😭
