Post-Apocalyptic Fiction by N.C. Reed Clay Sanders and company have not had the easiest time since the lights went out. Granted, much of their troubles are self-inflicted, but a lot of them were brought straight to their door by crooks and strongarm types in equal measure. Things are peaceful for a change around the Sanders’ Farms, however, and Clay barely knows what to do with himself. There are new trainees being brought up to standard, young women who have already been victimized once and have sworn to never have it happen again. There are gardens and greenhouses bearing fruit, which means as many hands as possible gathering that bounty and socking it away for winter. It will soon be harvest, which means gathering silage and hay from over two thousand acres of land. So while things may be peaceful at the moment, there is plenty to actually do. But nothing lasts forever. A National Guard unit, a real one this time, rolls up to the farm, having taken a wrong turn in their attempt to reach Jordan. By the end of his conversation with their Captain, Clay has invited the entire unit to dinner, eager for any information the Captain can provide and figuring the cost of a meal for a company of soldiers to be cheap enough payment in exchange. The news isn’t very good, though the group themselves are not only well mannered but also grateful. Clay hopes this will be the start of a good friendship with the people who look to be taking responsibility for their region but is cautious. Two things will happen to help cement that relationship. The first is when Clay and a select few others accompany the Captain to Lewiston, providing horses for a patrol of soldiers. The second is an intercepted radio transmission that bears a single Brimstone.

THIS HAS TO BE ONE, IF NOT THE BEST, POST-APOCALYPTIC BOOKS SERIES ABOUT PEOPLE COMING TOGETHER

Fire From the Sky: Brimstone book nine by N.C. Reed is most definitely well written, full of action, intriguing, mind-blowing at times, and full of well defined characters that have a very strong will to survive the aftereffects of a solar flare that has effected the whole Earth. The cast of characters are very family oriented with high morals who have taken upon themselves to help and protect their friends, community, and those that have suffered from those that are nothing but evil people who are set to take, imprison, enslave, and kill to take what they want. I have enjoyed this book and series and hope you will too.

I was very excited when I saw this was out. There were not many editing issues and the story flowed very well. This series has always had a lot of action, always to be expected in this genre, but I always felt its strength was in character development. We have a few new characters as well as a group of women who are training to be able to defend themselves and the community. The military is often the bad guy in the genre, but this series does not follow that trend and has a new group that are trying to do the right thing and is led by some very good people. Refreshing to say the least. I always like the details on how this group plans and executes what they need to do to survive. I like even more what they do to thrive, not just survive. They take care of the medical and emotional needs of each other and that is what builds this unique group. I look forward to the next book.

Saunders Saga continues (finally)

I found this author (N.C. Reed) while scanning the Kindle bookstore for a particular genre I really enjoy, end of the world, surviving the apocalypse books. I started reading this series 9 books ago, and have anxiously waited for the next installment each time. Waiting this time, a longer wait than previous times) was worth it. This episode, Brimstone, wasn't quite as action packed as the rest of the series. But I didnt miss it while reading. The way Mr Reed writes, you can definitely imagine yourself on the Saunders farm, or in a MRAP with them. He gives just enough detail that a movie is playing in your mind scene by scene, but doesn't drown you in minor details. I realize this review is more about the series and not dedicated to this last book. Final words...buy the series. Read the series, enjoy the series.

strengths outweigh weaknesses

Good storytelling. Gets some details wrong, especially medical, which is a bit distracting but most readers probably don’t know better either: There’s no difference between a “fracture” and a “break” of a bone, for example. You don’t get infections in closed fractures (or “chipped” bones) just because there’s a fracture. When it’s doctors talking to other medical professionals, they don’t “set” fractures, they “reduce” them. Yeah, details. But indicates a lack of medical knowledge to this orthopedic surgeon.
Some character’s are too inconsistent with themselves; such as Pickett and Dawson doing the same thing they kicked others out of town for (blaming the Sanders and making demands).
With all the talk of long-term planning, the important sociological issues are being mostly ignored. Someone needs to realize soon that formal marriages are necessary for long-term stability of a society, not just shacking up. That’s unstable. There needs to be a public formal commitment with acceptance of mutual responsibilities between members of couples and between them and the community. It needn’t be religious. Formal family units are the basis of all lasting societies.
Overall worth the read though. Strengths outweigh the weaknesses.

Excellent series

I started this series some time ago, dont remember why I stopped! I stumbled into the followon series about Parno. Fascinated by it. I wondered how it all came about, then remembered these books, and started all over again.

Mr Reed, no relation, has put together a shitpot of great books. While there are miniscule errors (just for grammer nazi's), he has written an awesome story covering hundreds of years. All after a massive solarstorm predicted by a witchman in deep Africa.

No one will ever call the Sanders family perfect, lawful or great public figures. They resemble a clan in deep rural Tennessee. Along with a group of former special forces type soldiers who spent years deeply embedded in shitspots all over the world. Why? Clay Saunders, former Lt who led these men all those years.

Buckle up, lots of action, intrique, strong language and massive heavy violence.
Thank you Mr Reed, great job.

PS same review for each book. I loved them all, but one finger typing gets old!🤯

Can't Wait for # 10; Best Series Ever

Read it within hours of being notified of the release.
My favorite apocalyptic author NC REED; favorite book ODD BILLY TODD; favorite series FIRE SERIES. I have read this series many times and this one feels like a soft bridge between books 8 & 10 and not a hard hitting stand alone like any of the others. Not complaining, just saying. However, loved the mention and updating of characters previously introduced. Best part of #9.
I understand you, Mr. Reed, have many projects, but, boy would I (and thousands of others) love a sequel to BILLY TODD.

Fire is memorizing

Having waited for books 8 & 9 I was all set to jump back in to the danger, blessings, butting of heads and the downright fierce love of family!
I am excited to see their world expanding beyond the ranch, even if it has come with some difficulties, the people who have survived must see their way to working together.
As for the Uttmost he needs to be taken down a few notches as no one person deserves to be king!!!

Mr. Reed has a way of writing his characters , giving them a depth of character that is often missing in this genre.
I genuinely look forward to the next book and read them as soon as I can.

Compared to the last eight books, boring.

Having said that, I have to be honest here I love the writing , I love the characters each and every one, the farm, but there was no excitement in this installment just life on the farm, training, and preparing for something coming. Then at the end (The cliff hanger) “Brimstone” the one word message and (title of this book) sent by the zealot Tenant. A concerning epilogue and “The End”
I would and do recommend this series. And this was indeed a pleasant read.
Personal note: I am so sorry about the tragedy you have been through.

One of the BEST series of the end of the world as we know it.

I have adored this series. I feel I’m in the Sanders farm and I know everyone personally. I smile at the remarks made to one another, I cringe when I know something someone is about to say and I just overall love the characters. The storyline has not faltered, it has not bored me one iota in the whole 9 books. That says a lot. I do not skip paragraphs or fast read as I immensely enjoy every word written. I can not wait until this next book and I can honestly say I could read another nine in this series and not get bored. What a brilliant writer.

fire from the sky brimstone, another great book in the series.

This is another outstanding book in the series. If you have not read the series, I believe you should, at least that’s my opinion. The characters are flushed out, especially the MC and everybody living on the farm. They all have their stories to tell and they are quite riveting. Basically this is a slice of life book with some action thrown in living after a CME. I like the way the author writes the books leaving them open ended with no cliffhangers. So if we decide we want to stop reading we can, or we can continue later on if we wish. Read the series, this book is a great addition to it. great edition.

Another great entry into the series.

I liked this book as it gave time to develop some of the characters and explore relationships that had been put on hold previously. Its nice to see Clay and crew get a bit more involved locally while still building up their strength and finally getting some trained help and marginal support from outside. All working towards a goal of stabilizing the area.

My only complaint is

that it went too fast. Gonna have to re-read it and see what I missed. Gotten so invested in the characters that I just want to know what's happening. I was a little worried at the beginning because it seemed like nothing was going on. Of course that was wrong. As usual great characters and situations. Can't wait to see where all these new developments lead to. Good job.

Well worth the wait

I love this series partly because it is post apocalypse but also because the good guys are ... Actually pretty good. I read some of these chapters with nostalgic tears in my eyes because the young people pretty much behaved the way we did when I was a teen. Self respect and respect for others. It is one star short of a full deck because of the annoying typos.

Please send us all back to Sanders Farm again NC.

Fire From the Sky series is exciting and thought provoking

I give not only this book but the whole series five stars. It is well written, exciting and makes one think about what you would do in a situation like this. Not sure if I could do the whole prepped thing, but it never hurts to be prepared. As they say, hope for the best but plan for the worst, or as I ask my children, What's your plan b?

Not the greatest/spoilers

I was really excited to see another book in this series available...I've devoured the rest..and highly recommend the Parno series as well. But this was filler. Doesn't move the story much at all. Doesn't even give a glimpse of the "bad guy"until the end. We got to know the North Alabama guy a bit while they handled other issues as I recall. Not bad.. And does recap relationships. But definitely taking off a star.

I love this series. I couldn't put this book down until I was done. I loved seeing more folks on the Sanders' Farm and loved reading about them and seeing them developing a future beyond just the war stuff. The hard times were very real but it seems that everyone is adjusting to the new world.
I really enjoyed this book as it gives you a view from each character and how they are coping.
It is a great series, Mr Reed, please keep writing as I am looking forward to the next book.

Good one to read !!!

Now that I have read the total series, I must say that this has been a very interesting and enjoyable experience for me. I truly feel that the story has been very well written and told. I feel at this ending that Clayton Sanders has just about had it with everyone outside the "Farm" and is ready to let the world outside simply do whatever they want to each other.

Another great book in the series

This is my Fire From The Sky review for the series. The biggest thing that the author brings to the table is that he knows how to write a story that the average person can love. Characters are not over the top. He balances the violence and does not revel in it. All the characters are complex but in a way that everyone can identify with. I look forward to next addition. My biggest gripe is that they don’t come fast enough.

Excellent adventure

I have waited a long time for the next book in this series and was not disappointed. I am a complete fan of the Sanders clan as well as Claytons troop of soldiers. I f you love post apocalypse fiction and like a hero you will enjoy this series.

Not just the usual struggles of living in this world, but men and women who are not afraid to rid their little slice of civilization from true evil. Recommend.

Outstanding

In a world gone crazy, this is another great addition to the series that has ideas about how to make yourself ready for almost any disaster heading our way. The author has a talent for bringing up ideas and subjects I hadn't thought about before in a TEOTWAWKI incident or just getting prepared for a rainy day. Since I started this series, I have not been able to put them down. Keep up the good work Mr. Reed!

A fun read

Brimstone the latest installment from NC Reed. I really enjoyed the latest installment of the Sanders saga. This installment had expanded character development and was a great change of pace from prior novels. Highly recommend reading it if you’ve read the rest of the story.

They place you’d want to be if the light went out.

Another great read in the 8th installment from the Fire From the Sky series. Reed writing makes you feel like you have skin in the game. If the lights went out the sanders farm would be the place to be. Can’t wait as always for the next book

Brimstone

Great installment in the series. Mr.Reed filled in and fleshed out many of the characters and the story arc. The story is very engaging, excellent dialog, and interesting people. This book provides a satisfying look into many of people in this world N.C. Is creating. It can be read enjoyable as a stand alone book but, it really shines if you read the series.

Back in the saddle again

My only complaint way too short. Excellent as always. I was hoping you would twist us all up by having the bad guy turn out to be Adcock. I hope this series never stops thank you for your efforts. May God bless you and your family strength to deal with the trials.
