Is it hot in here? I just finished reading “Total Surrender” by C. (Cheyenne) McCray and my temperature is still elevated. Talk about hot and erotic… This book is a collection of three of her short stories repackaged into one volume. The author notes that these novellas were originally e-published by Ellora’s Cave in a collection titled “Erotic Interludes” so that should give you an idea of where they fall on the heat meter.
“Sweet Surrender” is the tale of one lucky administrative assistant who learns why her ex-boss kept his distance while they worked together…and why he WON’T, now that they don’t!
“Wicked Surrender” tells of a strong woman who longs to give up control in the bedroom…and her surprise when she discovers who intends to ‘master’ her—and how.
“Forbidden Surrender” describes what happens when a fantasizing lonely woman and a perceptive dominant man cross paths and much more while on a business trip.
The first and last stories were fairly short at about sixty pages each while the middle one was longer at 102. Each of the men is very dominant and to me each story’s content became a bit more descriptive and stronger in regards to the themes of BDSM. If frank portrayals of sexual acts involving bondage, submission, dominance, spankings, lashings, more than two partners, female/female, etc offends you…DON’T read this book. I found myself brought up short a couple of times during “Wicked Surrender” which is the longest, and probably most explicit of the stories but I still wasn’t ‘offended’—just found myself surprised by the dialogue between the hero and heroine.
For those who enjoy their erotica with a bit of a bite…this is one collection you’ll be interested in reading. McCray did a fine job of delineating the fine line that exists for adults who practice BDSM. None of the participants is forced, tortured, raped, etc. Instead, the motto is “Safe, sane, and consensual”. It’s a motto that many an erotica writer seems to forget in their pursuit of the outré and sensational.
I’ll admit that “Total Surrender” won’t end up on my ‘keeper shelf’… but that’s only because of MY particular reading tastes. I’m glad I read C. McCray’s collection and I know many readers WILL have a special spot for this fine and enticing collection.

Sweet Surrender
Lovely little story. Complete fantasy, but still this was a sexy story. I liked imagining what Adamo Tassoni's voice might sound like. Yummy! He is definitely the Dominant while Ms. Lane is most definitely the submissive but they don't really delve into the whole Master/slave thing, and they don't really do anything kinkier than spanking, light flogging, a vibrating panty set and public bathroom sex. My favorite story in this anthology. It was romantic, lighthearted, and kinky.

Wow. Pretty advanced stuff for a novice. Suffice to say curious little Andi Kelly got a taste of the lifestyle with Derrick Macintyre working her over. This may squick out some readers. I had to quickly flip past a few pages because of the near vomiting urge I got when Andi and Derrick's happy twosome turned into a full blown orgy. f/f/f and f/m with a man named Josh and m/f/m. Plus I found it incestuous that Josh's pets are twins. As you can tell this short story packed a punch. Come was flying and tongues were lapping in this one. *hurl*

Teri Carter picked up one hell of a man at her hotel bar. Master Josh, from Wicked Surrender, and Teri indulge in some very erotic play. Not as outrageous as Wicked Surrender, but it was still pretty kinky. Especially when Josh pulled out his violet wand. Niiice.
These were very erotic stories as only Cheyenne McCray can write. The first story was pretty romantic, but the next two stories were almost straight erotica. At times Mis McCray was too much, even for me, and there were a few moments that didn't seem safe, or sane. But this is fiction, so it's okay, I guess.

This is a three story book from McCray centered about BDSM as if you couldn't tell from the picture. (Got a lot of interesting looks at the gym while reading this one, let me yell ya!)
Anyway, I loved the first story which centers around the hot, hunky boss who sells his company to the mousy assistant who has wanted him for the years she worked for him.
The second story (connected by light characters in the first story) delves us deeper into the BDSM world. Being a "take charge" person myself (orange for those that took that personality test) I had a tough time with some of the submissive stuff. I can see where that might be ok for those that can decide to give up control to that other person but I have never been sure I could do that so reading about it makes me squirm (in a good or bad way? who is to say).
The third story takes us even deeper into the control issue with giving it up to a complete stranger. The sex, like all of the stories, was hot but I thought this one ended a bit abruptly.
All in all though, hot sex and some interesting lessons learned about BDSM!

This book was just what I needed after reading a very dark book I didn't enjoy very much.

Each of the three novella's in this book deal with female characters who are competent, in control women in their daily lives, but who long to submit to a man in the bedroom.
In Sweet Surrender, Sheila has wanted her boss Adam for as long as she's been working for him, but he's never returned her interest. Until he leaves his CEO position. Then all bets are off and Adam finally shows how much he wants her.
In Wicked Surrender, Sheila's good friend Andi is a corporate Vice President by day, but at night, she longs to submit to a man. So she goes for a weekend to a BDSM resort where she finds one of her fellow VP's, Derrick, waiting to be her Master...and maybe more.
And in Forbidden Surrender, Teri is a no-nonsense corporate lawyer whose entire focus is on her job. But one night she decides to let loose and find a real man's man to satisfy her needs. She never counted on meeting Josh, a master Dom who will show her things about herself she never could have imagined.

I don't have a whole lot to say about this book either way. It was a hot, fun, sexy book to read. Which was just what I was looking for after finishing Beverly Barton's Dead By Nightfall, a super dark romantic suspense.
This book is kinda like a light version of the BDSM-themed books in Maya Banks's "Sweet" series. They are similar types of relationships but in this book everything is a bit lighter, a bit more superficial. Not that that's a bad thing. These are just novella's, after all.
And novella's are what they are. There's not a lot of time and space on character development and you don't really get to know the various characters all that well. But I wasn't bothered too much by that. You have to accept and expect certain things in novellas.
The stories are definitely hot. And definitely not something that will appeal to everyone. They are purely BDSM erotic romances. And the whole Master/slave thing will not appeal to everyone. I don't mind it. The stories are chock full of sex that leave you squirming in your seat. Lots and lots of sex. That's really the primary focus of the stories. I didn't mind ;)

very good...a lot of BDSM stuffs and descriptive sex scenes centered around BDSM. good stories though. if i had to pick one as my favorite it would have to be Derrick and Andi's story.

I enjoyed this 3 parter short stories. However, I looked at them like romance novels, entertaining, but not realistic. I enjoyed the BDSM parts, but in real life it shouldn't and doesn't work the way it did in the stories. However, I would read more and really enjoyed it.

I like some pretty extreme erotic romance ... anal does not bother me, nor does a bit of light spanking. The BDSM elements in these stories were over the top as far as my tastes go. How one character was shared without her lover discussing her preferences in advance disgusted me. When the whip appeared, that was the end of it for me. I had no respect for the women in these tales, if I had ever found myself pushed as far as they were I would have been screaming the safe word at the top of my lungs. Some sex in public places stories are fairly titillating and discreet, these are more exhibitionist and of the "let's risk arrest" type.
In the last tale, Forbidden Surrender, the heroine Teri (who is far from heroic) picks up a stranger in a bar and practically admits that few would miss her if she disappeared forever. This is the one for whom The Darwin Awards were created. When we say TSTL (too stupid to live), in this case we should take it literally. At least the women in the other two stories were acquainted with their lovers.
Andi in Wicked Surrender is fairly stupid, she goes alone to a BDSM club not knowing that she will meet anyone she knows there. When she does hook up, it's with a co-worker who is competing with her for advancement. Too stupid to respect.
Sheila in Sweet Surrender is such a wimp. Mooning over her boss and doing nothing about it ... and what's with the idiotic hero, Adam, who sells the company in order to boink his secretary without fear of harrassment? I'd love to have him as an opponent in a business situation, he thinks with his dick.
The men in these stories were fairly unmemorable. The writing was fairly good, though McCray called Adam "Nick" in one paragraph. The stories were lighthearted fun, the plots, such as they were, beautifully executed, which is how they earned three stars.

This was my first venture into the world that is Ellora’s Cave Publications. It’s a “quickie”, about 58 pages. The writing is rather clear, the plot very simple, though a little Harlequin-ish at times (ie: The “I’ll take one night with him if that’s all he’s offering and I’ll cherish it forever because I’m just going to assume that all he wants is sex and can’t possibly love me at all, ever!” theme.) The dialog gets a little cheesy, but, thankfully, the author doesn’t use silly euphemisms for body parts. The light BDSM scenes were hot, drawing out the tension in the story. The sex was pretty hot, too, but it didn’t quite live up to the tension built up by the earlier scenes; it was just too quick. There was a definite overuse of the word “aquamarine” to describe the hero’s eyes and the ending was a bit too pat. It came off as too much high-schooler fantasy. Even so, it was a fun and sexy read!

I got so hot reading about Derrick in his leather pants and shirt that I went on line to see what clothes the real BDSM'r wears ... and I couldn't find any! They were all latex! Wouldn't that be just WAY to hot - I mean, HEAT hot? I probably didn't know where to go to see the good stuff, I guess, but JUST ONCE I want to SEE some of these guys wearing leather pants that weren't rejects from 80's hair-band days. So while these stories were good (Ms. McCray is ALWAYS good), and while they sounded very realistic, now I am disapointed. This was definitely fantasy stuff. Sometimes the real world just sucks!

I never thought in my lifetime I would be interested in reading about bondage and submission but the way Cheyenne McCray writes makes it really interesting. Cheyenne has such a variety of writing styles, you can read almost any genre.
My absolute favorites of hers are the cowboys, then the erotic and now she has written a kick-ass herione in The First Sin. Lexi is definitely all woman and is a new favorite female.

Wow!!! Hot!!!! I want to be one of these women getting what they are getting. I don't like short stories but these are off the chart, maybe because they are by the same author, whatever the reason is. She did a great job of pulling you in and making you enjoy the content of her stories even if you are not into that particular type of sex play.
