A book that is angsty and kept me on the edge of my seat! Sierra and Roman are fire and ice and together their chemistry burns! I loved their push and pull but more importantly I loved how they brought out the best in the other without trying to change who they were!
Sierra is a fiery woman who doesn’t take things lying down! She had a good heart but won’t be pushed around! It’s that fight inside of her that Roman knows he needs in his life but what can he be feet her if he has no heart?
Another amazing book by Max Henry and I loved every word of it!

Well this was something completely different than I am used to from Max. Sierra and Roman's story is seriously hot like fan the flames hot the chemistry between them is insane. There is plenty of push and pull but they never compromise who they are and they support each other. I liked how Sierra was a complete foul for Max where she was fiery he was calmer and they brought the best out of each other. An enjoyable read.

I have mixed feelings about this story. I was really excited about it, but…
The blurb promised an asshole with a black hole heart, and that it delivers. But I’m disappointed that that was it.
The plot is an interesting idea. Fake marriage and enemies to lovers is my thing, but we don’t get much of the marriage and too much of the enemies. And we only get to experience a few weeks of the beginning of the story. I think the author focuses a lot in the fights and then she ends up rushing the ending.
I was drawn to the characters at first, but then I gradually lost interested because they didn’t really change.
I won’t denied that I was attracted to Roman, but sometimes it was really hard for me to like him. And I understand that this was the point of the story, but still I couldn’t help but continue waiting for the moment of change with the help of love and the woman by his side who tolerates EVERYTHING. But the story goes on and on and there are many things happening, but it doesn’t seem to move forward.
Sierra has a lot to tell with everything she went through, but I don’t think we can see much of that. And she seems like a strong, kind, resilient determined person, but at the end of the story I don’t think she made one decision on her own. Not even to make her dreams come true.
Despite all of this, I did enjoyed some moments: the ones where we can see Roman’s humanity, those little glimpses of the subtle changes that he was going through, and when they enjoyed themselves and got to connect and their chemistry came to light.
So this is an ansgty read with a lot of fights, really steamy and a few surprises along the way. And I’m sure it’s a perfect for many, but it wasn’t really for me.
Having said all this, I liked Max Henry’s writing style and I would read another story from her.

Explosive. That's the first word that comes to mind to describe this story.
The dictionary defines it as "likely to lead to violence or hostility" and yep! That is exactly what Max Henry brings to the page in this sensational enemies to lovers standalone.
This author always brings passion and heat to her stories, and never makes it an easy ride for her characters.
And this is no exception. But this time there is something more to this coupling than a difficult romance.
This is a story of appreciation and acceptance. Of who they each are, and of themselves.
And it is brilliantly portrayed.
Roman Steele is at war; with his vile poor excuse of a mother, who will have him stripped of his birthright, and seemingly unknowingly, with himself. And truthfully, apart from his handsome face, there's little to like about this self indulgent playboy upon first introduction.
So his first meeting with his feisty new housekeeper, who isn't afraid to put a verbal mirror in front of his entitled face, sparks a flame of challenge in this reluctant hero that sets alight the pages of this book and the flames only continue to build as the story does.
Under the premise of a fake marriage, these two must set aside their prejudices to show a love for the other that each thinks initially impossible. But their sizzling chemistry says otherwise!
I loved each of these characters for their individual balances of strength and vulnerability, and that they could find in each other a kindred soul worth defending against those that would bring them down.
This is definitely on my Must-Read list for 2020 and well worthy of 5 stars!!

Black Whole Heart is the latest release by Max Henry. It’s a enemies to Lovers, Fake Marriage, stand-alone.
Sierra is down on her luck with debts that need paying, she takes a job as a housecleaner. The benefits are the owner has been away. Thinking she is cleaning an apartment for an older rich guy, but when her boss comes home and rushes her out of the bathroom half naked she is completely shocked and stunned.
Roman Steele is at odds with his terrible, vile, nasty poor excuse of a mother. She is trying to have him stripped of his birthright, and unknowingly his whole persona. Apart from his handsome face and money, there's little to like about him. He is arrogant, self indulged and a playboy.
Both agreeing to the fake relationship in hopes of keeping what they own, these two must set aside their differences to show a love for each other that they think is impossible. But their chemistry is undeniable.
I loved both of these characters for their individual levels of strength and vulnerability that was shown. Coming from two different worlds, with similar goals to hold onto what they have was fantastic. Well done Max Henry for giving us another nail biting, emotional rollercoaster, edge of your seat read.

What a great book to start 2023 🤡
Let’s start with what I liked about this book:
Now what I didn’t like:
1) the whole having-to-be-married-to-inherit clause was just completely unbelievable. I’m by no means an expert in law and I know nothing about the US legal system, but that clause and his mother’s way of dealing with everything felt very ilegal. My guy didn’t need a fake wife, he needed a good lawyer.
2) having to pass a polygraph test is just ridiculous. Polygraphs are just SO unreliable he could have just picked up some random girl and trained to pass a polygraph. And in the end she didn’t even take the polygraph and he did it off page so there was no suspense over it, what a waste.
3) their relationship was just bad. There was no character growth, no development, nothing. At the end of the book they were the exact same and I hated it because they were very unlikable people to begin with.
4) the ending was just ridiculous and the whole conflict of the book was solved in three pages. What a waste of my time.
Unfortunately I deeply disliked this one and thank fuck this was just a unmemorable read because I will just be pissed remembering the time I lost on this.

This story has two messed up people bringing out the best and worst in each other at times. Roman is a spoiled playboy, but not in the usually way I’ve seen portrayed. He wanted to do and be better, but that was nipped in the bud. Sierra is broke and trying to make the best decisions she can to get herself ahead. Roman decides that can includeS marrying him so he can keep his father’s company. With rotten families and a ridiculous ex that won’t go away, they have their work cut out for them.

This is a standalone story.
And what a cracker of a standalone it is! A throwback to Max's Red Hot Reads this one has all the chemistry you could want and more.
A rich asshole playboy and a young woman trying to make her dreams come true.
The chemistry and connection between them is amazing and I loved their banter and the back and forth between them.
Both characters were strong in their own right, throw a couple of crazy side characters in the mix and you certainly have one hell of a show.

I don’t remember reading a book where I wanted to slap the hero more than in this one, but I think that’s intentional by the author. Roman Steele is a piece of work alright, a condescending asshole, rude, obnoxious and unfortunately about to be disinherited while happily flaunting these traits. Sierra is in dire straights and finds herself at the wrong place at the wrong time, but she’s strong and makes for a fitting adversary. My enjoyment was seeing the subtle changes in Roman however I felt like the ending was rushed and the crux of the story abruptly settled.

This story is a fast easy read perfect for the autumn nights and a story that you can easily lose yourself in. Set in world of the filthy rich with a kind of Cinderella story within with a twist this tale made me laugh and swoon.
A four star love to hate him type read.

Well I love me a good fake marriage romance and this one did not disappoint.
Was a great fast paced easy read and was invested in Roman and Sierras story right from the start.
Alpha male meets sassy female and the fireworks start. Throw in a healthy does of drama and we have the perfect enemies to lovers fake marriage love story.

OMG this book kept me glued to it all the way to the end. The arrogance of Roman and the sass of Sierra just keeps on coming. She is a little pit bull and I loved it. The banter between these two people are so opposite I can totally see why they love to challenge each other. Through thick and thin they persevere.

Loved this story! Roman and Sierra are great together. I love her sass and how she doesn't tolerate or give in to Roman's arrogance and their chemistry is off the charts. This is a page turner and I pretty much read it in one sitting!

I enjoyed this book. It’s pretty good but.......It had so many undeveloped characters and interesting story lines that went nowhere. There are too many unanswered questions and ended unsatisfactorily. Maybe the author is setting it up for “standalone” series.

I read the entirety of Black Whole Heart in one day, I couldn’t put it down.
I loved the sass of Sierra and mixed with the brutal honesty of Roman, this book was a fantastic read.
