It's all about the Relationships!

I have said this many time of Bette Lee Crosby’s books and it is true of this book. The relationships are what shine in this book (as well as the story). A Year of Extraordinary Moments is the second in the Magnolia Grove series and I highly recommend reading this first book (The Summer of New Beginnings) in the series first.

This book begins where the previous book leaves off. Tracy Briggs has finally gotten her act together. Her hearing-impaired son, Lucas, is enrolled at a wonderful school, and she is running her deceased father's business with the help of her sister, Meghan. Tracy is looking forward to a new romance and happier life. Her sister, Meghan is happily married and helping her husband run his Veterinary office/business. She helps Tracy out with the family business from time to time and struggles with separating her father from the business.

It was wonderful to see the characters from the previous book and even better getting to know Alice Deluca who is the great-grandmother of Tracy's son, Lucas. Lucas's father Dominic continues to not accept responsibility for his son, but Alice is determined to know Tracy and her great-grandson.

The Author continues to tackle serious subjects such as Cancer, hearing impairment, single mothers, absent fathers, and loss with grace. Her stories focus on family and the relationships between all the family members and their romantic partners/spouses. Most of the characters in this book are extremely likable and I enjoyed reading their thoughts and motivations in the italicized sections. I enjoyed this book more than the first book in the series mainly due to the character of Alice. I loved her strength and dedication to family.

This book is heartwarming and pulled on my heartstrings. Pull up a comfortable chair, grab a glass of sweet tea, have the tissues handy, and immerse yourself into the world of the Briggs and DeLucas.

Thank you to Bette Lee Crosby, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

When Alice DeLuca phoned her grandson Dominic to let him know the cancer was back, he was shocked. But it was her request that he return to Magnolia Grove to spend time with her before she passed that frustrated him. Tossing in his job at the bar and heading to the one place he had vowed never to return to, Dominic decided that once his grandma passed, he would be shot of Magnolia Grove. He guessed he could wait that long.

Tracy Briggs and her five-year-old son Lucas were finally happy in their lives. Tracy’s joy at Lucas’ advancement in his hearing-impaired life, now that he had the cochlear implant, was infectious. Her sister Meghan and husband Tom had been married for two years and settled into Tom’s veterinary practice, while Tracy and Lucas lived with her mother Lila. But when an elderly lady appeared at Lila’s door wanting to see Tracy, she had no idea how her life would change. There would be trouble on the horizon, but there would be extraordinary moments as well.

A Year of Extraordinary Moments by Bette Lee Crosby is the 2nd in the Magnolia Grove series, and a delightful addition to the first. Most of the characters were extremely likeable, but there was one who was not. Dominic was the worst kind of loser and the biggest kind of troublemaker and I really had to grit my teeth when I read his story. He certainly didn’t deserve the sweet old lady who was his grandma. A Year of Extraordinary Moments is a read I have no problem recommending.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Needing a book I knew I was going to enjoy after a couple of disappointing reads, I turned to Bette Lee Crosby one of my go to authors and my newest book of hers, which I received for Christmas. Alice DeLuca, knowing she has not long to live, send out a call to her grandson Dominic. Alice has raised Dominic since her daughter Dorothy, his mother, disappeared years ago leaving a heartbroken little boy. Now it is his turn to help his grandmother out. Reluctantly Dominic returns to Magnolia Grove. Tracy Briggs is helping her hearing impaired son Lucas learn to talk. She has not seen Dominic, his father, for years and has no wish to meet up with him again. Especially now her relationship with Gabriel Hawke who runs the Hawke School for hearing impaired, is turning from friendship into romance. At the same time Tracy and her sister Meghan are trying to continue the Snip ‘n Save magazine started by their father years before. Meghan would rather be working with her husband Tom at the veterinary clinic. Both Tracy and Meghan feel a duty to keep the magazine going yet they are being pulled in other directions. Something has to give. At the same time Alice wants to tie up all the loose ends of her life before she dies and finally meet her grandson Lucas. When Dominic appears back in Magnolia Grove it sets in motion a train of events that disrupts several lives.
This book is told from several points of view, that of sisters Tracy and Megan, Alice and of Dominic. In the process each one reveals a lot about themselves, their motivations and their issues. All three women are easy to relate to empathise with. Dominic is quite despicable and such a contrast to Tracy’s love interest Gabriel, who is lovely.
This is the second book in the Magnolia Grove series and I loved picking up the story of what had happened to Tracy, Meghan and their mother Lila as well as little Lucas. As usually happens with any book by this author, the story and the characters captured my interest from the start and did not let it go. It is a book filled with emotion and poignant moments, largely peopled with characters you enjoy getting to know. Another thought-provoking and entertaining read from an author who is an author who can be depended on deliver a heart-warming story and who never lets me down. Highly recommended but best if you read book 1 of the Magnolia Grove series first.

Tissues, tissues, and more tissues! You will need to have tissues by your side as you read A Year of Extraordinary Moments by Bette Lee Crosby.

What it's about: Book 2 of the Magnolia Grove series focuses more on the life of Dominic, Lucas' father and Tracy's baby daddy/ex. Tracy Briggs finally has her life together - Lucas is going to a good school that helps with his hearing, she is managing the Snip 'n Save and finding her life's passion helping out at Lucas' school, plus she has a love interest. When Dominic shows up trying to reenter their lives, Tracy must decide between her possible future, and the life she left behind.

It sounds like it's more about Tracy, but there are quite a few chapters that focus on Dominic which was really nice. He really is a terrible person, but it was interesting to see how things were going through his head and just how self-entitled he thought he was. The novel also has a large chunk about his grandmother Alice, and she is one of the characters that really made this book for me.

Tracy, Meghan, and Lila are all as sweet as ever, and I don't think I will ever tire of hearing their stories or about the small Southern town of Magnolia Grove. There was so much heart in this novel (maybe even more than the first book), and plenty of great missives and thoughts about life. A Year of Extraordinary Moments is packed with serious topics, and once again the author made me cry like a baby.

"... but life is so much more complicated than we realize. It's not one long stretch of time that starts on the day you're born and ends on the day you die; it's a collection of meaningful moments with spots of happiness and sorrow in between."

Final Thought: I really love Bette Lee Crosby as an author, and that is just after reading the 2 Magnolia Grove novels. There is just something about her writing that hits me right in the heart, and her characters (most of them anyway) are positively endearing. If you haven't checked this series out yet I highly recommend doing so. They should be read in order so as not to not spoil anything and get the full picture of what is going on. There are only the 2 right now and the writing flows so well that these books can be read in a day if you want to. I definitely can't wait to see more of these characters if she chooses to further the series!

"If she could bottle a single moment of her life and hold on to it forever, it would be this one."

Like Tracy herself, the author found the magical words for telling the story that makes the reader feel as inspired as the main character of this book was. A beautiful book that leaves an unforgettable impression and would be the first one I'd love to recommend to inspire children with hearing problems to help them to feel their inner selves and show the beauty and uniqueness that lives in any kid's heart, which would otherwise they have not been capable to see. Great lessons of love as it should be the heart of the author leads you to.

I made a poor decision earlier to finish my previous read I actually forgot I was reading (Summer at Rachel’s Pudding Pantry) and got stuck with it again, kept going and got stuck again. I missed the Briggs family, Gabriel and Lucas, and finished the book in a matter of hours. But a little bit of a wait was worth it, because I felt happy to be back and live their life again! So nothing wrong with this book like with the another title I've read a little from and now am moving on to (My Magnolia Summer). That's funny that these two stories have a magnolia connection. I love titles with Magnolia in their names and have noticed I actually enjoy them a lot :)

P.S. There was one particular scene with starting to rain and when a few minutes later I thought: yes, that's what I'd be doing today... then: Oh no, I forgot that it's raining outside... and this thought had occurred to me twice, that shows how vivid this author writing is. Love her imaginary, her way with words: beautiful, eloquent and inspiring.

"You chose wisely. A man like Gabriel will be the rock you and Lucas can build your lives on."

Love this picture by Marina Koloeridi . It could be Tracy and Gabriel or Meghan and Tom, or any true couple anywhere in the world. ♡

MY REVIEW OF “A YEAR OF EXTRAORDINARY MOMENTS” (MAGNOLIA GROVE #2) BY Bette Lee Crosby, Lake Union Press, October 2018

Kudos to Bette Lee Crosby, Author of “A Year of Extraordinary Moments” for pulling my heartstrings and writing such an emotional realistic, enjoyable, delightful, memorable, and captivating novel. I had the most enchanting visit this afternoon reading the sequel to “The Summer of New Beginnings”. I loved the first book, and I loved this as well. The Genres for ” A Year of Extraordinary Moments” are Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Romance with a dash of suspense and mystery.. The timeline of the story is in the present and goes back to the past when it pertains to the characters or events in the story.

I highly recommend this novel to readers that enjoy family drama, sister relationships, and mother and daughter, and mother and son relationships. Bette describes her colorful cast of characters, as people who could live in our neighborhood. Each of the characters have their own set of problems, and day-to-day problems. Some characters have shady motives and think of themselves. I appreciate that Bette Lee Crosby writes about the importance of family, emotional support, and somehow everything seems to work out. Bette adds the touch of a beloved pet, and also shows the needs for acceptance for children and adults with disabilities.

In this wonderful book, we learn and see how Tracy Briggs and her hearing-impaired young son are doing. Tracy is trying to step up to the plate and be the best and responsible Mom. Is there romance in Tracy’s future? What could prevent Tracy from the happiness she deserves? There are some intriguing new characters and some wonderful friends from the first book. Although this could be read as a stand-alone, I thing that reading the first book would enhance the experience. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

Tracy Briggs has finally gotten her act together. She’s focusing on her own life and helping her hearing-impaired son learn to talk. With her sister married and exploring a new career, Tracy has begun to run the family’s magazine business and feels her life is pretty much perfect. That is, until her son’s deadbeat dad shows up in Magnolia Grove asking for a second chance.

Now that her son is getting the help he needs and a promising new romance with his teacher is in bloom, Tracy wants to keep her life just as it is. But her ex isn’t taking no for an answer. And when a spirited elderly woman enters Tracy’s life in an unexpected way, she’ll have to work harder than ever to keep her new life on track.

Torn between the past she knows and the uncertain future, Tracy must decide what is best for both her and her son, learning along the way that ordinary choices can bring extraordinary possibilities.

My Thoughts: When I first started meeting the delightful characters of A Year of Extraordinary Moments, I was immediately caught up in their lives, with all their flaws, hopes, dreams, and losses.

Alice DeLuca is the first one we meet, and I could sense her longing to once again connect with her grandson Dominic. His mother had abandoned him, but Alice raised him. And now that she is terminally ill, time is running out.

In Philadelphia, Dominic is just barely making it, with nothing or nobody meaningful in his life. When his grandmother calls, requesting he visit her in Magnolia Grove, he sets off to make her wish come true.

But once there, Dominic falls back into his old ways, drinking and carousing.

Meanwhile, Tracy is raising Dominic’s son alone, but she has the help of her mother Lila and her sister Meghan.

What, if anything, will bring these disparate family members together? Will Alice’s final days bring some of the joy she has desired? Unexpected events change the course of all their lives, and we discover that sometimes life brings just what we need.

With a great setting and characters I could root for, this book earned 4.5 stars.

Welcome to a Magnolia Grove, Georgia. Tracy Briggs is a single mother raising a son that is hearing impaired (Lucas). Fortunately for her, she has her mother Lila and sister Meghan there to help, as well as a wonderful school especially for the deaf. Tracy runs the family paper, Briggs Snip N’ Save. Meghan used to run the paper but since getting married, she and her husband Tom have started a vet clinic. Life seems absolutely perfect in Magnolia Grove until one day when Dominic DeLuca, Lucas’ daddy comes back to town.

This story is full of wonderful characters, each one offering something different. From Alice DeLuca, grandmother to Dominic, to Charlie, Alice’s good friend, to Dominic, Alice’s grandson and Lucas’ father. From Tracy Briggs, Lucas’ mommy to her mother Lila Briggs, to her sister Meghan Whitley and Meghan’s husband Tom. From Gabriel, who runs the deaf school to Lucas Briggs, the child himself. You cannot help but care and truly like and dislike some of these people. A beautifully written story of unconditional love, relationships and family.

Bette Lee Crosby has written a truly enjoyable and heartwarming story. I absolutely loved this book and recommend it as highly as I possibly can. You can’t go wrong with this one! Well done Bette Lee Crosby and thank you for writing such a beautiful story.

I always enjoy books by this author and this was no exception. I was glad to dive back into the lives of Meghan and Tracey where they left off in The Summer of New Beginnings. Each of the sisters has moved on a bit in their lives but the past is still holding both of them back in different ways. For Tracey, it is Lucas' father. For Meghan, it is the memory of her father and the Snip and Save.

Even though we know some of the main characters, a few new ones are introduced - Lucas' Great Grandmother, Alice, and her friend Charlie. We also learn more about Dominic and his life growing up and why he perhaps turned out the way that he is portrayed.

This story deals with love, loss, new family, and hope for the future. Reading this book I grew to dislike Dominic quite intensely as he is very selfish. I felt for Alice and what she had hoped by asking Dominic to come home in her final time before cancer took her. But rejoiced as Alice was able to get to know her great-grandson, Lucas.

This story brought out all the emotions, from joy to sadness, laughter to anger. I highly recommend this book but make sure you read book #1 first for your introduction to the Brigg's family.

I received this book "A Year Of Extraordinary Moments" from NetGalley and all opinions expressed are my own. Wow! This is better than the first book (The Summer of New Beginnings) and I could not put this book down. The story is mostly following Tracy in this second book. I loved the new character "Alice" she was such a sweet lovable lady. Dominic is back and causing trouble as usual, but that is what he does. There is even a mention of Paterson (one T Bette) and Little Falls lol. Growing up in northern New Jersey I know these towns - kinda fun to see in a book. Everything seems to be worked out in the end but I know if there is a third book in the works that things will stir up again. Easy, fast paced read and I look forward to more books by Bette Lee Crosby as they are always enjoyable.

She did it again. Bette Lee Crosby took us back to Magnolia Grove and the Briggs family. Where Tracy is getting her life on track, taking care of her hearing impaired son and running the family business. But just when everything is going great, up pops her ex to wreck havoc on her life.

I have always enjoyed Ms. Crosby's books, having read so many of them, and this one is no exception. The loving family story behind it, the way she makes her characters fill your heart and soul, has only made me wanting to read more and more of her books.

Bravo...looking forward to a book #3, because I have a feeling it's not the last we see of Dominic!

After reading The Summer of New Beginnings, I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of this book. Bette Lee Crosby has brought to life the Briggs family and their story is both heartbreaking and heartwarming. Her storytelling is pure perfection, I was so caught up within the story that I had tears running down my cheeks at the end. I highly recommend this fast-paced, and heartwarming book. I thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

After enjoying The Summer of New Beginnings that introduced the Briggs ladies of Magnolia Grove, Georgia and their journey of love, grief, and hope as mother, daughters, and sisters, I was eager to press forward to see Tracy finish coming into her own, Meghan continue to realize her love for her dad didn't depend on his paper, and the comfort that family can bring to a dying woman.

A Year of Extraordinary Moments follows on the heels of the earlier book and doesn't work so well as a standalone.

It has been two years since Meghan married her sweetheart veterinarian, gave a permanent home to her dog Socks, and reluctantly turned over the daily operations of the Snip and Save, her dad's old paper. Tracy came back to Magnolia Grove to raise her son and reconnect with her mama and sister. Lucas now has his surgery that allows him to hear now and she is helping her son adjust with the help of a kind and generous man. But, just when she thinks she has seen the last of Lucas' dad, Dominic is back in Magnolia Grove and stirring up trouble once again. The Briggs ladies are not sure how a new person in the form of Dominic's grandmother will fit in to Lucas' and their lives. Will sweet Alice get to enjoy a surprising new gift of family in her last days? Will Tracy continue on the path she has set for herself or give in to nostalgia for the past?

The author spun out another heartwarming and complex tale about the lives of these women showcasing the many kinds of love and relationships they experienced. The conflicts were partially ongoing and also got a new twist. I remember when I finished up the last book that I was curious to follow a bit further with Tracy's story as she worked hard to grow and change for her own sake as well as her son's, but she still had that wistful feeling for Dominic back in Philadelphia. And, though Meghan came a long way in learning to live and find love outside her all work and attachment to that newspaper which she associated with her daddy, I wasn't sure she'd really moved on. These things along with the renewed issues with Dominic and enjoying the new character in the story who was his warm and loving grandmother Alice made this another fabulous part of the ongoing story.

I was really rooting for Tracy to hang in there. She was doing so well and on her way to lasting happiness with the perfect man, Gabriel, for her and Lucas, but she had a first love that she remembered as better than it really was and overbalanced making everything about Lucas the way Meghan used to make everything about the Snip and Save (and kinda still does).

I will confess that while I didn't want Dominic and Tracy together, I was certainly more conflicted about him than I was in the first book. The author gave him a backstory of a rough life of no dad in the picture and a wild mother who wasn't good for him before she abandoned him for good with his grandmother. He never really stood a chance in many ways so I did pity him, but Alice gave him every chance to embrace something different with the way she worked hard to show him that she loved and cared deeply for him in place of his mother.

Much of this book really tugs on the emotions. I cried a few times to be honest. Hard things had to happen before the healing and good could settle in. I was so vested in these characters and their lives.

Shannon McManus is a talented and well-matched narrator for this series. She nails voices, accents, pacing, and the connection to the story so well. She added that extra sparkle and enriched the words and heart of the story.

So, I'm emotionally exhausted, but oh so satisfied with this story. I heartily encourage those who enjoy stories with a strong family connection, a slow burn side romance, and deep emotional engagement to give this book/series a try.

My thanks to Brilliance Audio for the opportunity to listen to the book in exchange for an honest review.

If you've never read a book by Bette Lee Crosby and enjoy southern settings that focus on all sorts of different characters, most you love like family, then I don't have to convince you to pick up the second book in the Magnolia Grove series. In Bette's stories there's got to be an antagonist that is downright despicable. Keep an eye on Dominic Deluca. He's that guy you warn your daughters against. Unfortunately, some of us like a bad boy persona. Growth and maturity catch up and those guys are eventually seen for what they are.

I'm a longtime fan of Bette's stories. Filled with soul, Crosby is a beautiful storyteller. Her series tug at your heart, long for family connections, and at the end of each book, I can't help feeling like I'm hugging great friends goodbye. Until next time.

I read Book One in the Magnolia Grove series and loved it! I recommend reading THE SUMMER OF NEW BEGINNINGS, Book One in the Magnolia Grove series before A YEAR OF EXTRAORDINARY MOMENTS. You will understand the evolution of characters much better. I wouldn't call this a standalone. Besides, Book 1 was my fave of the two. I am happily awaiting the next Magnolia Grove book. I feel a lot of changes are ahead.

Bette Lee Crosby has such a way with pulling the heartstrings in her novels and this one is no different! A Year of Extraordinary Moments is an emotional, complex, enjoyable, memorable, and captivating read.

This is the second book in her Magnolia Grove series and I loved it just as much as the first one, The Summer of New Beginnings! The timeline of this story follows right in line with where the first one left off.

Bette has such a relatable cast of characters, some old, some new in this book. They all feel like they could live in your neighborhood. If you love books about family drama, mother and son relationships, sister relationships, and mother and daughter relationships then this series is right up your alley. Bette isn't afraid to show you the ugly of some people and she always brings in the best furry friends.

We learn about Tracy Briggs and her hearing impaired son in this story and how life is treating them since we last left off. Will she be a good and responsible mom or will she let people bring her down? Will she learn to love and have a good relationship or will something prevent the happiness she deserves? This one is a must read! You can read this as a stand alone, however, I do recommend reading the first one so you have a better grasp of who the characters are before starting to add new ones!

Ya know, some people are just hard to understand. You just really wonder what makes them tick. Others are so good that you just know there will be a special place for them. I didn’t like some of these characters, but they certainly help make the story what it is. We all have to deal with those who are unpleasant at times and if we’re lucky enough we also have some Alice’s and Charlie’s in our life. This is a story that could be happening in your town and you probably wouldn’t even be aware of it. Families dealing with family things. Some are so hard to deal with and others are a joy. I’ve loved every Betty Lee Crosby book I’ve read. I think you will too. I received this book from NetGalley. My opinion of it is my own.

This is such a good book. It will pull at your heartstrings and make you feel such strong emotions. I laughed in placed and did some hard crying in others. This book has all the emotions and you feel them all. It pulls you in and won’t let go until the very last sentence.

Wonderful characters. You will fall in love with most and dislike, very strongly, others. There are parts that just really made me do some very ugly crying but I understand they had to be included. It was spot on perfect in my opinion. Bette Lee Crosby always delivers the best stories. I expect no less from her and am never ever disappointed. I’ve read every book she ever wrote and loved them all. This one is my new favorite. It’s so good.

A must read after you read the first in the series,The Summer Of New Beginnings. I can’t wait for the next book by Ms Crosby. This is a big 5 star book.

This was such a satisfying sequel to The Summer of New Beginnings. It took a direction that I wouldn't have expected and it was better for it. It focused a lot on a new character, the sweet grandmother to tough-to-deal-with Dominic, as well as Dominic himself. I wasn't too sure if I would like having Dominic play such an important role, but it added a lot of depth and drama, which made it very interesting.

This is my first book Ive read by Betty Lee Crosby. What a great opportunity Netgalley introduced me to read and review this book. I loved reading about the town Magnolia Grove.
I trully enjoyed the empathy and battles behind each character, except the selfish egoistic ex boyfreind Dominic .
His past includes Tracy Briggs, who he got pg years ago and still to the end, he denies Lucas,a hearing impaired son is not his.. He is forced to return back to to his childhood peanut farm his grandparents have had for a long time, passed down generation to generation.. He lacks a sense of maturity and greed that only gets him into trouble ,again.

Alice his loving grandmother, is ill with a terminal illness and its bad enough of her physical struggle with this illness, but her anguish trying to keep the family, past and present together..
She comes out teaching others how love and pasts can be forgiven. She reminds me of my own grandmother, who always kept our family strings sewed together because of her forgiving tone and mending everyone's grudges. Alice wants her great grandson Lucas needs to be met ,when she is gone.
This women's fiction romance that includes drama and mystery , meaningful education about the hearing impaired and children's disabilities. Tracey's new love,Gabriel, is one of those men who works in the school Lucas attends. He runs the program there and the touching ending of his generous kind heart is a rewarding gift.
Thank you Netgalley for introducing me to a new author and I will go back and read her first story to this sequal.

This is the second book in the A Magnolia Grove Series. The story continues focusing on the Briggs family and the people they have in their lives. The youngest daughter, Tracy finds maturity due to being a mother and finds love also because of a situation with her son.

The story flowed smoothly. The characters are well developed and the story is believable, which is always a plus to me.

Bette Lee Crosby has written another heartwarming story that I enjoyed very much.

A Year of Extraordinary Moments is the second book in A Magnolia Grove series. This book focuses on Tracy, her son Lucas and Alice DeLuca. As a grandmother myself, Alice really captured my heart, as well as reminding me of my own grandmothers. This story pulled at my heartstrings as I was taken on an emotional ride. Have a tissue near by as you read.
Captivating, so enjoyable, wonderfully written and I felt as though I was right there in Magnolia Grove with my friends.
Family, friendship, support and love really come through in time of need.

Thank you NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the opportunity to read this book.
Thank you Bette Lee Crosby for a story that had me glued to my seat not wanting to put the book down.

This is the second book in the Magnolia Grove series and I recommend that you read the first book Summer of New Beginnings first to get the background on the Briggs family. (It's a fabulous read.)

The Briggs family had a difficult summer, but two years have passed, and their lives are settling in. Meghan is happily married to Tom, the veterinarian and is working as a veterinary technician in his office. Tracy is running their father’s coupon magazine and her son Lucas has been attending the school for hearing impaired. Lucas has recently had successful cochlear implant surgery and he can now hear the world around him. And Tracy has found love with the founder of the school.

It's good to see a book that treats hearing impairment as a fact of life but not a tragedy. Lucas acts as any child his age would and his family doesn’t pamper him or excuse his behavior.

Then Dominic DeLuca, Lucas’ biological father and all-around scumbag, returns to Magnolia Grove. He’s broke and angry (nothing new on either condition). His grandmother Anne has reached out to Tracy and become part of the Briggs family, getting to know her great-grandson. Dominic claims he wants to know his son, but, in typical fashion, he continues to manipulate, lie, steal and cheat.

Bette Lee Crosby leads the family on an emotional roller coaster but with an satisfying ending. I read the book in two days (I have a long commute by train, that helps, but I kept putting the book down, only to pick it up almost immediately.)

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Author Bette Lee Crosby writes stories that bring emotions of all kinds to the reader. I cried, I became angry, I laughed, I felt fear, I experienced hope and peace. In this very special story, lives twist and turn and something extraordinary happens with the characters that gives the possibility of hope and love. Excellent read. I received a copy of this book from the author and Net Galley. This is my own personal opinion. No review was required.

I had been eagerly awaiting the second book in the Magnolia Grove series and I was not disappointed! I liked that this book was told from a few different perspectives, but the primary focus was on Tracy and Alice (grandmother of Dominic, Tracy's ex). The characters are all delightful (with the exception of Dominic, of course!) In this book, Tracy is coming into her own and discovering what she loves to do - helping children. In addition, her relationship with Gabriel is blossoming. Her new interests are time consuming and this causes some conflict with her sister, Meghan, because she's somewhat neglecting her responsibilities at Snip 'N Save (the family business that she promised to run). Meanwhile, Alice is trying to sort out her grandson, Dominic's, lies to determine if Tracy's son is in fact her great-grandson. I love how the plot unfolded (including some sweet moments and some tense moments) as well as the addition of Alice (I kept wondering how such a sweet lady could have such a rotten grandson). I'm hoping there will be a third book in this series! I was provided with an ARC from the author via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving this review.
