Ick, he's *AT LEAST* Twice her age! That is so gross! I acutally spent the first third of the book thinking he would end up pursuing the mom and her subplot would resolve itself in a different way. In this book, the characters met something like 3 times, didn't like each other and then after one pleasant afternoon - both decided they were in love?

I read 3 Rachelle Edwards regency novels in a short period, so I'm also getting a little tired, they're very short so not so involved in character development. Armanita's was developed a little, but we knew almost nothing about the duke (IMO). I'm also getting a little tired that any character that says something smooth/witty is labelled a "tongue-pad" and anyone remotely interested/excited about something is described as being in a "fidge". Ok, we get that you're trying to use real slang from the time, that's great, but you don't need to repeat it all the time.

Maybe I'm judging too harshly since I've just read some early Regency by Mary Balogh who is one of my favorites and really builds her characters, even in a book about the same length. The other R. Edwards books were ok but this 17 yr old + at least 40 year old is too gross for me to forgive, even if it might've been realistic for the time period.
