Penniless and hungry, it seems that life could not be worse for Verena Barrington, until she discovers her father has, incredibly, secured a marriage for her to the new Marquis of Strafford. The Marquis is unable to find a way out of the marriage, despite the unwillingness also of his bride. This urchin fills him with disgust, and he leaves for France the day after the ceremony. But when he returns after two years, the situation is vastly different...
This Georgian has a great premise, right? But you know, they meet like probably 4 times in two and a half years - twice before and twice now in the present! And we are to believe this love and hea?
Actually, it's a short-ish quick read with lots of drama happening, so not all bad...
Not a drop of romance to be found and an H who remains a dbag almost throughout the novel, all of which is a major disappointment considering what an interesting premise and otherwise good writing. Wasted potential 🫠
