Rate this book
This is a story in which the big devil accidentally becomes a poor little loyal dog.

When Chu Qianxun was reborn and returned to the beginning of the apocalypse, she vowed to live a better life, live longer, and stay away from those dangerous people and things. One day, she accidentally rescued an immortal man. After washing his face clean, Chu Qianxun found out in horror that this man was a notorious, cold-blooded and ruthless great demon who made all mankind fearful in the late apocalypse. Whenever Chu Qianxun thought about getting rid of this big demon quietly, that person would always grab the corner of her clothes and say pitifully, "You, do you want to abandon me again?"

Same review as Let The Villain Go. A rare feminist author - her heroines are bold in pursuing their romantic partner and comfortable with their own desire and sexuality and taking the lead there (so rare!)

This is a companion book to Let the Villain Go. Both feature the same cast of characters, the same world, but the two books are like parallel worlds. In Apocalypse Arrival, the heroine was reborn 5 days before the apocalypse and thus smartly made prudent decisions from the beginning with her memory of future events. She gains power quickly, rescues many side characters and saves the male lead before he is tortured into insanity (or before he turns black bellied).

I enjoyed Apocalypse Arrival a lot in the beginning because it reminded me of one of my favorite apocalypse survival novels, The Earth is Online. But I lost steam halfway through because the stakes are quite low. It's very smooth sailing for the heroine all the way and she doesn't ever face much of a challenge (this is one of my issues with most Chinese webnovels). I enjoyed the romance a lot but it is such a side-plot that there wasn't much focus nor scenes of it!!! So sad. I felt the story really shone with the dynamic between the two - how she saves him, how he opens his heart and devotes himself to her.

In Let the Villain Go, the story starts 10 years iirc past the apocalypse, where many side characters are already cold or calculating and the poor male lead has been tortured multiple times until he is the lonely and half crazy but powerful. The details of the apocalypse and the monsters are sometimes skipped over, imo the plot is better explained in AA. There's an initial stronger focus on the touching and transformative relationship between the heroine and the male lead with more scenes from his perspective. It was very sweet reading about how he realizes that there is light in the endless dark tunnel that his life. After that the novel focuses more on the heroine's growth and the lessons she learns about life.

Overall, enjoyable, especially because of how the heroine is refreshingly comfortable with her feelings and desires and how she pursues the male lead. The dynamic between the two is just sooo cute. I could read a whole bunch of extras just about the two of them 🥺

This story can be read as the prequel to Let the Villain Go. The author has published this story with a new title 废土时代2.

I like the female lead Chu Qianxun because she is strong and slowly gathered companions, even though she does not mean to. She dreamed of her other life (in Let the Villain Go) and knew that Apocalypse was coming, so she tried her best to prepare for it since she was taken back 5 days before it happened.

The character development is quite good in this story, though I'd say what happened to Jiang boy was a plot uncalled for. I guess the author tried to be 'realistic' and put a pinch of worse tragedy into the plot.

The ending is kind of a cliffhanger because I am quite interested in what would happen next after she gathered that many companions in her base... I thought there would be an epic battle incoming... Unfortunately, we never reached that part. Not too sure why the author cut it at that point, I am hoping she would write another sequel for Qianxun and Peitian of this parallel world.

All in all, it was a fun short read of 100+ chapters. I finished reading the English translation in 2-3 days.

A very light rebirth story where the FL Chu Qianxun is reborn to just before the start of the Apocalypse. She uses her memories to rebuild the pertinent skills to survive and thrive in such a terrible world. Along the way, she begins to collect a team and interact with famous characters from her memories.

This really resembles the novelization of a game and I’d play it!

I love this author, I love this setting. I read Let the Villain Go! first so - but love the different version and I find myself hoping for third book with these characters
