4.5 stars! Imperative reading - it’s so important to know your rights I can’t stress this enough. This book covers most ground and is so digestible. I’ll certainly be returning to it. Would have liked a section on marriage within the relationships chapter!

What it says on the tin. I read it in one afternoon on the train. Covers most common topics of human rights, retail customer rights, relationships, rent, money lending/borrowing, employment, drugs, social media, activism, interactions with police and court. Not a comprehensive or deep into details, but good enough to give you a good starting point, and has a list of resources at the end on where to further help if needed.

This is an excellent book. Christian’s Weaver’s writing is clear and succinct. The chapters, which span a broad range of topics, are punchy and tight.

From the outset, Christian suggests that this book could be physically carried around by readers, and serve as a practical legal guide in day-to-day situations. I endorse that idea wholeheartedly.

Indeed, the idea feels particularly apt during protests. There, legal information may be needed speedily and in an easily-accessible format. I can honestly think of no better guide in those circumstances than Christian Weaver’s.

All congratulations to Christian for producing this fantastic work. I’ll be recommending it very widely.

A very concise and well-written little book that I'm sure I'll return to in the future if and when I need it.

The author has clearly spent time filtering aspects of the law in very accessible and easy format. Although, as with the law, there are some blurred lines. The part about renting was particularly interesting.

Definetly recommend as a good one to have on your bookshelf (or in your pocket) to know a bit more about the powers of the law.

Empowering, Accessible, and Timely: Know Your Rights in Minutes

The Law in 60 Seconds by Christian Weaver is an outstanding guide that demystifies legal rights in a clear, concise, and empowering manner. Designed to be quick yet deeply informative, this book offers a rare blend of legal insight, social awareness, and practicality; making it a must-read for anyone seeking to navigate real-life situations with confidence.

Weaver’s strength lies in his ability to explain complex legal concepts in simple language without watering down their importance. From what to do if you’re stopped by police, to how to handle employment disputes or housing issues, every section is crafted to deliver precise and usable knowledge; in just a minute. Whether you’re a student, professional, activist, or everyday citizen, this guide equips you to stand on your rights without panic or confusion.

The tone is refreshingly inclusive. Weaver not only focuses on general rights, but also offers insight into how legal issues disproportionately affect marginalized communities. His empathetic yet firm approach makes the content not just informative but also socially conscious; bridging a critical gap between the law and lived experience.

It’s a book you’ll return to often; not to read cover to cover, but to reference when life demands clarity.

Final Takeaway: A powerful legal toolkit for the modern world. Christian Weaver delivers not just information, but confidence. In 60 seconds or less, this book equips you to protect your rights, advocate for yourself, and move through the world informed and empowered.

My my my

This is an essential book for every UK household, especially for the ages of 17-35, containing legal information for renting, activism, employment and even relationships and money. So much useful legal information, a book I am certain everyone wish they had at 17. Well, better late than never, I loved it.

Easy to understand for everyone and I will be keeping this close. Undeniably read this, you simply must.

Thank you Christian.

This book has given me a clear and thorough understanding of the laws that may affect me and my loved ones.

What I love most is how concise the guide is. It makes difficult legal concepts both practical and easy to understand. My favourite chapters covered police powers and housing rights.

I've already lent it to a few friends and will definitely buy more copies as gifts.

Listened as an audiobook.
Great intro to the basic legal factors you may face during life in the U.K. - perfect as a refresher / for those moving to the country from abroad.
Easily laid out for referring back to at a later stage, should you need to.

The Law in 60 seconds represents a forray into the legal world which UK citizens would find indcredibly useful as a starting point. Whilst the book is not, and SHOULD not be used in lieu of legal advice, the information provides a background information that most under our legal system should be aware of.

In addition, the author's touch of adding their own comments and advice was quite welcome and never felt unwarranted. It is concise and to the point and as someone who had little more than a passing interest in the law it engrossed me.

I loved this book, I do wish there was a section on disability rights but I get it's less likely to be a daily law issue for a lot of people - but anyone can become disabled at any time and a huge majority of disabilities are gained between 18 and 65 (not from birth like a lot of people seem to think) Nobody is exempt from disability - you either are, or not yet.

So I think a little part of the equality act reasonable adjustments (like assistance dog law, law around reasonable adjustments in work, housing, education, leisure groups, healthcare, etc) Like sending forms in an accessible format (braille, large print, audio, email, etc), allowing a carer with you, additional visits, room changes, wheelchair access, interpreter, etc.

I think I actually just want multiple books on this, like why is nobody writing about it. But I also think it could've easily been added to this book to look to as needed. But as usual disability is overlooked. Apart from that a great book and does have a lot of great info.

It is really good book to understand personal law. The sections are well distributed throughout the book. If you are not aware of law at all it will be a lot to take in but everything is very helpful to live everyday life in UK.
