Traci Andrighetti is the USA Today bestselling author of the Franki Amato mysteries and the Danger Cove Hair Salon mysteries, and she is a co-author of the Killer Foursome mysteries. Her latest release is 4 SLEUTHS & A BACHELORETTE, Franki's first co-investigation with the sleuths of Leslie Langtry, Arlene McFarlane, and Diana Orgain. Right now Traci's plotting TUACA TAN, Franki Amato 8, about the members of an all-female Mardi Gras krewe who keep dropping dead. Next off the press is Franki’s second investigation with her new “krewe,” 4 SLEUTHS & A BURLESQUE DANCER, about a washed up dolphin dancer found dead in the water. LMAO (the initials of Langtry, Andrighetti, McFarlane, and Orgain)! :D

A collection of short, breezy mysteries. Some are murder mysteries and others are not. Each one takes the reader to a new locale.
My favorite of the collection is the first one Mirto Magenta. I loved the history and culture of Sardinia! I want to send my parents there on their next Italian vacation! I could relate a lot to Franki, being Italian-American. Madge and Midge Maven are funny old ladies but Glenda is too weird and embarrassing. The mystery was a little confusing, especially not knowing the characters and their regular story. The running goat gag was cute but too much of a good thing. What the heck is going on with the farm? Zena is a little creepy and Jaku is scary. I would read more about Franki if she traveled to Italy more often. I don't drink and I'm not interested in New Orleans so I will pass on her regular series.
Jewel of the Aisle was super boring. I didn't like the superficial, artificial characters or the over-the-top wedding. I didn't guess whodunit but I didn't care. Rich people problems.
Death In The Dormitory was my least favorite. It doesn't involve travel to an exotic locale or even local color. I lived in a dorm room and won't voluntarily ever go back. The archery theme was super boring. I don't know how the heroine randomly figured out whodunit but I had an inkling. I loved Moo, the big, crazy dog!
Goats in the Machine Also a lackluster story. The mystery was weird and the solution rather silly. The heroine's backstory is a little dark for me. I don't do tropical climates and this only features a mansion, a beach and some shops. I need more local color to be interested.
Darby O’Kill was kind of cute. The seniors are crazy and annoying but the trip around Ireland was fun. The mystery didn't make a lot of logical sense but it was fun. I may end up reading more about the Movie Club.
The Larceny in the Luau was another boring story involving a jewel theft. I guessed the same thing as the heroine and was surprised by the truth. The Hawaiian culture represented here is for tourists. I'd rather read about the real Hawaii instead of a tourist luau.
I was excited to read Death In Venice. Not only have I been there so I can picture it easily, I was thrilled to read more about Kate and Alex. I really liked the setting. Readers will feel like they're exploring Venice with Kate and Alex. Their fellow tourists aren't very appealing though. The mystery ended up being super obvious.
Full Metal Frangipane is the darkest of the bunch. It's set in a small town in Alberta, Canada across the border from the characters' hometown in Montana. I don't like how it's exactly like their town. How is that travel? The mystery is tragic. It's difficult to read this as a standalone not knowing who the characters were and what their backstories are. My heart broke for Emma but I don't like reading about domestic violence and spousal abuse in my stories. I can read the news for that. The solution to the mystery is complicated and comes out of nowhere.
As the book progresses, the number of typos increase and that takes away from my reading enjoyment.
Passport to Murder is 8 short stories by various authors. Each story is based on established characters in their own series. Each one was different and not always about murder. Two of the authors are well known to me and I loved the both series so I was eager to read these two new additions. All together they were an enjoyable afternoon read.
The title of the collection is a little misleading
DISCLAIMER: The 5-star rating is for "Jewel of the Aisle" by Laura Durham, the only short story in the collection representing a series I read. (I'll gladly pay again for a separate edition to go into my Laura Durham/Annabelle Archer Wedding Planner Mysteries collection in my Kindle library. FYI and all that.)
The other short stories are good, and there are a couple that interest me enough to try the series they represent. But I do have one complaint: PASSPORT TO MURDER is a deceptive title since most of the stories did not have a murder at all.
Fun assortment of short stories set around the globe. My favorite was definitely "Death In Venice" by Sara Rosett. Both "Darby O’Kill" by Zara Keane and "Vangie Vale and the Full Metal Frangipane" by R.L. Syme appealed to me enough that I want to try their series. (I've already read all of Sara Rosett's books.) I have nothing against the other authors or their series. I enjoyed all the stories, but some main characters just aren't the type of people I like to 'hangout with' regularly Since travel is limited right now, getting to read about faraway places was an added bonus.
Light reading that might be good for vacation or pool time. It isn’t exactly captivating and wouldn’t really compel me to try any of these authors in particular. All seem to be novellas based on recurring series and they try to cram an awful lot about the background of main characters into a very short story. Most seem rushed and no room for character development. As I said, okay for summer reading. The only series that I had actually read before was the one by Sara Rosett. That full series is worth reading. The others may be as well but it is hard to tell in this collection.
This was a delightful palate cleanser for me as I came up for air between some pretty dark dystopian reads. I read this collection while on vacation which was perfect as each story takes a mystery sleuth from a well known series and throws them in a new location needing their crime-solving skills. The stories are light-hearted and fun and a perfect afternoon's beach read. I'm giving the entire collection four stars because I liked it and it was the right book at the right time for me.
Each short story is differently presented and solved. I knew two of the authors, but found new ones to read. I think that everyone who likes cozy mysteries will like this book. It was like sampling ice cream flavors. Satisfying and helpful in finding a new favorite.
Cute short stories to give us a taste of what each author's writing style is like. I liked some of the stories more than others but gave it 4 stars because overall each story was fun in its own way, I liked spending time with different characters over a short amount of time and out of the bunch, I found a new author who I look forward to reading more of.
so fun, great book cover. great read. so fun. i love mysteries ... my go 2 reads ... and traveling is right on up there as well ... i have found many authors i was not familiar with ...love that!! i wanna read more ... a suggestion from KU.
Cute collection of cozy short stories! Great variety and all with a theme of having traveled somewhere away from home and amateur sleuths solving the mysteries. Would most definitely recommend this book!
Each short story has just the right amount of plot to keep you reading until the end. If you’re busy. You and read one for a break and go back to work. I on the other hand I had to read to all of them at once..
I loved this mystery! Two girl buddies trying to outfit a murderer and finding a new love after an abusive marriage was just wonderful! Lots of action and friendship and finding love that could heal! Terrie Stamey
