His client is the world’s most powerful spy. When Case’s investigation uncovers traitors, corrupt politicians, and a deadly conspiracy, she demands he withdraw. Case Lee doesn’t quit. He goes back in.
And kicks the hornet’s nest.
The CIA’s top spy offered him a contract. He didn’t relish working with her again, but the money was too good. The job started as a standard sleuthing gig. But when he discovers a major drug deal, disturbing questions are raised. Case calls on his best friend and heads for the border. Case Lee, meet the Cartel. It gets ugly.
The trail leads back to the Pacific Northwest, revealing a high-level conspiracy with spies, traitors, and corrupt politicians. Who is pulling the deadly strings? And why?
The heat cranks up and the CIA terminates the contract. But he doesn’t quit. While he’s no superhero, no caped crusader, Case Lee knows when it’s time to make a stand. They unleash powerful forces against him with no quarter asked. Or given.
It’s a simple and valid answer when the question pops up, “Why do you write?”
At the end of the day, it is to tell a good tale.
Vince Milam has lived all over the world, traipsing through the Amazon, Congo, and Papua New Guinea—all the while demonstrating bourbon has medicinal qualities. Raised in Texas, he lives in the mountainous West where he proves—annually—that God doesn’t want us driving on snow. He relishes great reads, fine trout streams, family, old friends, and—especially—writing fast-paced thrillers that keep you up at night.
I won’t attempt to find the appropriate words to describe the Case Lee books. They are astounding and the time spent reading them cherished. Thank you for bringing us to all the exotic places you’ve experienced first hand. You make us feel like we are a part of them. Case lee, and clearly you, are a rare find in this chaotic world. A huge thank you for all the characters you weave together. Please keep bringing us Case Lee, CC, Bo, Marcus, Catch, Ms. Townsend and, of course, Jules.
‘I’d say it pulls things from the paranoid and smack-dab into the real.’
Idaho author Vince Milam retains as much mystery about his background as he imbues in his supernatural mystery thrillers. From his resume, only the following offers a few facts: ` I live in the Intermountain West where soaring mountains and vast high deserts give a person plenty of room to think. I've lived and worked in over twenty-five countries around the globe, am a certified Wellness Coach, have a coterie of dear friends and family that provide succor and support, and have an old dog that is also a best buddy. I have an affinity for characters of all stripes, and strive to bring out the uniqueness of my literary protagonists.'
In Book 6 THE ORCAS ISLAND JOB Vince ‘s manner of conducting a suspense filled thriller is refreshing to say the least. His language grows more eloquent with each new book and his ability to retain memories of the early books of the series enhances this story – but this book is quite easily a stand alone novel, so well crafted has Vince made the plot.
Vince submits the following summary: ‘His client is the world’s most powerful spy. Or given.’
One of the many aspects that make Vince such a successful novelist is his spectrum of characters he deftly creates – not only his impressive Case Lee, but in this novel also Bo, Marcus, Jules, Marilyn Townsend, Jessica Rossi and more. His characters are so well crafted that they plead visualization in cinema! Vince Milam is now recognized as one of the major writers of suspense novels writing today. Polished to a fare-thee-well, this novel another superb action thriller.
It Seemed Like A Simple Job. He Should Have Known Better.
Case gets down and dirty, literally, when he accepts a job from Marilyn Townsend to investigate a US citizen. He’s not supposed to get involved, just observe and report. It doesn’t take long for Case to overstep his orders, though, and soon he is in the middle of everything. There are illegal drugs involved, but that’s just the beginning, and he never backs down from a fight. Never.
I’ve enjoyed all of the Case Lee novels, but this one is the absolute best of the series. The situations Case gets into are more harrowing than ever, I found myself hurriedly turning pages and wondering how he’ll ever get out of this mess. It’s the thoughts and calculations that author Vince Milam put into Case’s actions that make the story so exciting to read. A must read book for any fan of Case, and a first-time reader can enjoy this story as a stand-alone novel.
It is good and well that Case Lee is all about helping people, as he once told CC. However, when you get hired by the CIA for a job on American soilwhich we know is not in their supposed ambit of powers, then something assuredly is wrong Very wrong. As Case discovers soon enough. And for this reader having to start telling your knotted stomach muscles the contrary. Orcas Island is named after the family of dolphins known as orcas, a predator like species widely feared for good reason. For Case Lee, it is about to become true for himself as well as the mission turns up all kinds of human predators requiring curtailing in extreme ways. But then, this is the Case Lee we came to know well by now Enjoy.
I wanted to like this book, but holy verbosity, dude! Give it a rest. Okay, so your knuckle dragging Delta boy likes to wax poetic. We get it, you like word play and writing dialog as some kind of esoteric exercise in creativity but dude, every character? NO ONE talks like this, let alone everyone! Talking like what you THINK overly educated spies would talk like gets old, fast. Following the conversations in this book is like watching two dogs sniff butts. After two seconds it’s just boring. Don’t write like you need to get rove you are the smartest man in the room.
Keeping in mind that the story line and characters were good enough to suck me in for 6 books, I thought it was just strongly ok. Characters were interesting and believable - unless you'd worked in that community before. Then not so much. But thats usually the case. WAY toothpaste much angst and introspection in the lead character for my tastes. Tech talk was OK. Loved the trash talk though. That's pretty accurate as is the switch flip into mission mode. Overall a good, exciting read with a slow but interesting personal side. Its not all THAT accurate but fun to read and remember - I read 6 of them! Might do more...
This is a great read. There is a ton of violence and action. However, I find the scenes between Case Lee and his challenged sister, CC, to be moving and sweet. The best scene in when CC, Tinker (CC's beloved dog), and Lee are in a restaurant in South Carolina, and CC is offered some pie by the restaurant's owner. That one scene brought a tear or two, maybe three or four, to my eyes. The tenderness between Lee and his sister is powerful. CC and Tinker are in every book of the series. This novel and every book in the series are highly recommended.
I always get excited when a new Case Lee adventure is released into the world. This may be his best one yet. Mr. Milam has written an exciting adventure set mainly in the islands of the Pacific Northwest but with side trips to the Mexican border and British Columbia as well. Case is working a contract for the CIA and gets involved with drug runners, pimps, Chinese agents and treasonous American government operatives. Lots of action and suspense ensue. Highly recommended.
Vince Milam has hit another home run in the Case Lee series with this one. He consistently provides entertaining books. I love Case Lee and love that he’s moving toward a relationship. Please let it continue! All these are something between thrillers and something else. Bug when the action occurs it’s always well done. Don’t miss this one. Highly recommended.
Another well-written novel by Vince Milam. The characterization is always well done wherein the reader cares about what happens to them. The events portrayed seem plausible given the plot history and somewhat realistic within current world events. It is always a pleasure to find a talented author on Amazon, self-published books are hit and miss and Mr Milam is easily as talented as most mainstream authors.
I really enjoyed this book as I have all of the books in this series. The recurring characters in this series make the books. The characters are all really unique and not what I’m used to finding in this type of series which is very refreshing and enjoyable. I would like to see Case Lee eventually start to thinking bigger picture as he takes jobs instead of always being behind the curve at the start of the story.
For fans of Thor, Clancy, Flynn and Greany, These books are for you. I’ve read every work by the above mentioned offer and this Case Lee series is right up there with them. I actually enjoy the characters in these books more than in the aforementioned works. Such great dialogue, great scenes and great action. These are just plain good reads! Do yourself a favor and jump in to one of these books.
I love Orcas Island with its winding road, ocean wildlife and rain! This story is fast paced. You barely get your breath and then off Lee goes again. Mr. Milan writes in just enough detail on the planning that you truly do feel you are on site. The reasoning is clear and the plot twists makes you think "Dang, of course!!!". Loved this story and will look for other books by this same author.
Change of pace and location....once again a cracker book, plot and characters..
Everyone of Vince Milam’s books have taken me to different parts of the world and I can’t help myself but to google these locations and by doing that my mind conjures up pictures that just makes the whole plot so much more real physically and less of a work of fiction because the places are real..
Excellent series so glad I stumbled upon Vince Milam’s works👍🏻👍🏻
The latest installment in the Case Lee series, has everything, Power , Sex, Money, and Drugs. Case is hired by The Agency ( indirectly) to investigate a DIA agent suspected of selling out his country. This story is very timely, because it deals with the Modern Drug Crisis and the part that Mexico plays in it. Case travels to Seattle, than to Arizona and back to Seattle .
Case Lee's latest job from the Zurich Gnomes has him working on the Seattle area where he brings his own brand of justice to the bad guys. This is one of the best action series out there, bar none! The writing is spot on, the characters are grounded and have plenty of depth and the dialogue, while at times light hearted and humorous is full of profound moments.
I chose 5 stars out of 5 because it is that good! Once again, the reader is drawn into the story in just first few chapters. Case is an intriguing character, one with an old school sense of justice! A really great read!! We need another added to the series.
I enjoyed the end. Sitting in a hot tub with my best gal, enjoying a drink, soap bubbles and just being there. I never did that, a fact I now regret. Vince understands what it means to enjoy life. Orcas Island Job is another worthy read for our Case Lee. Much action, good bad people and located in a beautiful part of the world.
I have enjoyed all Case Lee books, but recommend that you read them in sequence, to better understand the various relationships. Although each story stands on its own and is quite different and unrelated to the others. Wonderful characters. Is this the end of Case Lee, or will there be another story??
This is a very good series which continues to get better. Good characters, not just Case but also Bo, J.J., and Marcus. Good realistic plots. Lots of action balanced with an important family life with CC and Mom. Now it appears that the Jess relationship is improving. All good. Recommended
This Book, the 6th from the Case Lee Series, left me disappointed, & scratching my Head. The way he exposed himself unnecessarily, putting himself, as well as his family in jeopardy again! I think it could have been told with another scenario to accomplish the same result.
The latest Case Lee novel builds on the complicated and interesting world created in the previous novels. Case pursues bad guys a gets the girl in this latest installment. But lest you think all is ‘tied off’ at the end, many, many questions are introduced. Must read for Case Lee fans. Highly recommend.
Well written, clever dialogue, memorable characters
Lots of action, guns, and shooting. The hero walks on water when he isn’t killing bad guys. I selected the book partly because I thought it might have something about Orcas Island. It did. A little. Moments. Old lady here. Why the constant gunfire?
As exciting as ever, this story longs to be a movie as part of a series. Are you listening Amazon? Casting ideas: mom: Melanie Griffith, Jules: Angelina Jolie, Case: Jason Strathem Bo: Daniel Henney, Catch: Mark Walberg. Marcus: Idris Elba, Director Townsend: Rosamund Pike.
I live on San Juan Island and loved this book. Now I get to start reading the all the rest of them. This one was well written and kept my interest until the end. I used to Officiate Weddings on all the Islands but I've had a stroke so can't do that anymore. Now I can close my eyes and picture what I remember of each Island while reading these books.
In this novel we find a side of Case I would call "Justified". Covering his tracks he closes this adventure with his own needs in violation of his contract with our CIA source. This tale is an illustration of crime by delete members of our society. Sadly, in this world filled with evil people, there is a need for Case's talents.
Just finished reading The Orcas Island Job. As always a very good read. I would recommend reading the whole series before reading orcas island job because some references to past books. Can't wait for the next one.
As always, story line, action and characters are all wonderful. One of those hard to put down books that leaves you wanting more. Can't wait for the next adventure. Highly recommend.
Well written, delightfully descriptive & page-turning story! Can’t wait for the next installment! Portrayed with first hand knowledge of locale, character & plot, these adventures take readers all ver the world—an added bonus to terrific reads!
Orcas may be the best in this series yet. The writing is snappy, with few wasted words or flowery descriptions. Not too many characters, plenty of action. Look forward to the next adventure.
