Gates of Eden: The Druid Legacy 1-3

Rate this book
Legacies are forged through sacrifice.

Book 1: Druid’s Dance (newly revised/edited edition)

Elijah Wadsworth lost his parents and twin sister in what he thought was little more than a tragic accident. But five years later, when Elijah begins manifesting strange abilities--which he neither understands nor can control--he discovers his family has been at the center of a cosmic battle for centuries... and his family's death was likely no accident at all. A mysterious "girl in black" with dark, magical abilities pursues him, hoping to lure him to her cause. After coming into possession of a mystical stone, which transports Elijah into his deceased father’s ancient memories, Elijah and his closest friends must discover the source of his power together lest his newfound abilities drain his very soul, and open up our world to the blight of Samhuinn. When a girl he loves, however, is threatened he must make a choice to either save her by joining the sorceress, the "girl in black," or save the world.

Book 2: Bard’s Tale

The Tree of Life—the source of Elijah’s power—is failing. Creatures from Samhuinn are breaking through the veil and terrorizing St. Louis. As the Tree weakens, Elijah’s abilities are failing. Will Elijah be able to stop the incursions before his powers fade completely?

Book 3: Ovate’s Call

Elijah’s Ovate—Tyler—is visited by a strange, but alluring, princess from Annwn. He's immediately captivated by her--but Elijah fears the princess has ulterior motives. Is the princess who she claims to be, or is she another pawn in the Morrigan's scheme? The cosmic struggle between Elijah, his Order, and the Morrigan and her legions comes to a head in the final installment of the Gates of Eden: the Druid Legacy Trilogy.

Readers of Theophilus Monroe’s Voodoo Academy from the Gates of Eden: The Voodoo Legacy series will naturally adore the Druid Legacy. Combined with Celtic mythology and Arthurian lore, this druid urban fantasy is a compelling installment in the Gates of Eden world. With magical fantasy adventure romance, a snarky male hero, and a plethora of characters taken straight from Arthurain lore and the Celtic world of myth, this time travel epic fantasy will keep readers enthralled from start to finish.

Theophilus Monroe is a fantasy author with a knack for real-life characters whose supernatural experiences speak to the pangs of ordinary life. After earning his Ph.D. in Theology, he decided that academic treatises that no one will read (beyond other academics) was a dull way to spend his life. So, he began using his background in religious studies to create new worlds and forms of magic-informed by religious myths, ancient and modern-that would intrigue readers, inspire imaginations, and speak to real-world problems in fantastical ways.

Very interesting spin on old fantasy characters

The book is a collection of three stories.
It mixed characters from Arthurian era and gave them a new spin. Morgana and especially Merlin were etched very well as the characters developed well over the three stories. Liked it.

“Gates of Eden: The Druid Legacy Trilogy” by Theophilus Monroe compiles all three books in the series into a single volume. Very fitting subtitled “An Arthurian Modern Fantasy” the story loosely borrows Arthurian tropes and transforms them organically into a modern urban fantasy that spans centuries, crossing realms and blurs the boundaries between reality and legend. A veritable smørrebrød of action, unexpected twists, wonderful characters and mind-blowing descriptions, garnished with a good dose of magic some sprinkles of mythical lore and some paranormal romance on the side, and served with very well-crafted, with an accurate world building, interesting characters, captivating writing style and carefully editing.

Druid’s Dance
Elijah is the sole survivor of the fire that killed his whole family when he was barely a child. Years later Elijah has become a capable young man about to graduate high school and become a legal adult, and with adulthood Elijah also receives his surprising inheritance. He is in fact the sole heir of some centuries-old-lineage of wizards that have been fighting the creatures of lore for ages. As his powers begin to wake, some hard facts come to light (his family death, was not accident), and a mysterious girl (Celtic fans would recognize her immediately 😊) follows him relentlessly trying to gain his support in the upcoming battle to save the world, until Elijah is forced to make a choice, with appalling consequences.

Bard’s Tale
Elijah’s life has turn on his axe, the Tree of Life (his power source) is dying, and his friends are moved on, Elijah is at his weakest as the Samhuinn creatures crossed the veil to St. Louis and begin to terrify its habitants. Elijah would have to dig deep in his own power source to be able to halt the invasion from the other realm before it is too late.

Ovate’s Call
The balance in Annwn has finally be restored as the Morrigan and Grainne were reborn in each other’s tree. Nevertheless, as a princess of Annwn suddenly appears Elijah cannot help but being reluctant, she seems benevolent enough, but is she really what she appears to be, or could be the Morrigan in disguise. The fact that Tyler seem fully enrapture by her, doesn’t actually help the situation. The final battle between the Morrigan, Elijah and his Order is about to begin, and it threaten to end it all.

Wow, this series flows with so much meaning. You will not want to put it down. Elija is going to go through so much suspense, action, the unbelievable, fighting within himself, and figuring out meanings of everything that happens, his friends, family and earth. So follow the journey and maybe you might find out what you think of life and what you might do with it to make everything better.

If you want my reviews on each story please go to that book. The last book lets just say it holds a lot of meaning for ourselves and planet.

I had the privilege to become an Arc for this three book series and I must say I really enjoyed it! The development of the characters as the story wove it's way through timelines! The legends, sacrifices and adventures were breathtaking and mindboggling! The way this author writes, it pulled me in and I couldn't let go until I read all three books. I would recommend these books to everyone who loves fantasy and humor cause the main characters made so much sense and I could just idenify myself in them. The selfdoubts at times, the what ifs and that that humor! The bantering amongst themselves and Oh my the references to my very First mmo game wow, which I played for years! The author managed to writes a series where our modern world meets Fantasy and Legends from books! I am so going to find out of he had a fanpage cause he made a fangirl out of me!

I love this series it is definitely one of my favourite stories and I love every bit of reading it. I have already read the first book and reviewed it before and it was an awesome book and I really had nothing bad to say about it and the next two books are no different. The second book has a great storyline which really captivates you and most of the time it makes so much sense which brings me to my next point. This story is amazing in the way that it has things like time travel and most stories that contain time travel are so confusing and you have absolutely know idea what's going on and where in time you actually are but in this book it is explained in a relatively scientific way but still easy to understand and because I knew what was happening it was so much more engaging and interesting to read. Though eberyone was easy to read there was a party that was a bit confusing for me, it was when Taliesman was telling his story and I just didn't know exactly what was going on it was very confusing for me and I had to re-read it to understand it. These books contain a lot of character development which I love but the characters don't change at the same time, what I mean by this is that Elijah changes so much in his confidence but he still keeps the exact same sense of humour and the same love for Emilie. The endings of these stories are so great because they don't leave you on any kind of cliffhanger yet still makes you wanting to read the next one instantly. Though I think that the third book was a bit short, I think it could have been made a bit longer by adding a bit more to the fight on the end and maybe made a bit more problems that they could have gone through before beating the army as I think that after they meat the Morrigan it was a bit too easy. Lastly I love that all the of these books tie in with eachother so well, you get so much backstory and information in the second and third book which made the first book so much clearer and everything just made sense.
Basically in the end there were some minor issues but these books are so amazing and I love reading it.

Excellent Spin on the Tales of King Arthur

I certainly enjoyed this trilogy that blends Arthurian mythology with modern-day characters and places. I thought the first book was a little uneven in its pacing but still enjoyable. The author upped the stakes in the second and third books, both of which I enjoyed. I like it when authors gather books of a trilogy into one convenient box set. That way, you don't even have to go to an online bookseller to pick up the next installment!

Here’s my review of the first book:

Druid’s Dance: Modern Arthurian Fantasy
While fantasy isn't my go-to read, I do enjoy a few authors, and I'm always on the lookout for new authors and series. This series certainly has promise. The author pulls you right into the story with a dramatic and tragic event in the young hero's life. I thought the pacing was a little off at times. Sometimes, a lot was happening, while at others, I felt like I was waiting for something interesting to happen. But, overall, I still enjoyed the story. I nearly always enjoy a spin on Arthurian tales and characters, especially if there are druids! I look forward to seeing what will happen in the next book.

I received a free copy of this box set, but that did not affect my review.

This collection of three novels and a bonus novella gives an in-depth look at Elijah, his friends, and their world(s).
We meet Elijah after a tragedy but before he knows about his gifts and heritage, and experience life with him through his child growing up. The stories cover a much vaster expanse of time that that, though, venturing via memories and time travel to thousands of years into the past, and multiple worlds, rounding out character histories and backstories nicely.
I liked the new take on Irish and Arthurian mythologies, and that the narrative kept me guessing as to who was really a "bad" guy.
The writing and plots flowed well from action, drama, some angst (I forgive the characters — they're teenagers and a lot happens to them!), humor, scary moments, romance, to tragedy, and sacrifice. The end tied up all the loose strings, but wasn't what I wanted for Elijah. Given everything he and Joni went through, I think it makes sense.
William Turbett narrated the entire collection and did a great job keeping the characters differentiated and breathing life into the narrative.

Arthurian legend with a twist… or twelve

Parents: not for under 18.
Language: R, heavy language, Fbombs
Violence: it’s a fantasy novel, there’s violence just not ultra descriptive gore
Sexual content: erotic thoughts of an 18yo boy, sex between teens, lots of innuendo, more sex, so much innuendo.

The story is decently fast paced, moderately humorous writing. This series is a unique take on many legends but primarily those surrounding druids and Arthurian lore. The magic is captivating though a little too saturated with teen angst to the point of it being a touch distracting for my taste. The action was fun, good amounts of twists and things you just don’t see coming. The bonus content I feel would have helped as a foreword rather than an afterword in terms of set up for the series as a whole. Still a cool experience heard towards a more mature audience.

Narrator: good differentiations

Gates of Eden: The Druid Legacy Boxed Set was an immersive and captivating journey into a world of ancient magic and hidden realms. The three books in the set weave together a complex tapestry of Celtic mythology, druid lore, and thrilling adventures. I was particularly drawn to the intricate world-building and the well-developed characters, each with their own unique motivations and struggles.

The plot twists were unexpected and kept me on the edge of my seat. The blending of historical elements with fantastical creatures and magical abilities created a unique and immersive reading experience. However, the pacing felt a bit uneven at times, with some sections dragging while others felt rushed. Additionally, the sheer amount of information presented in the world-building could be overwhelming at times.

Overall, this is a fantastic collection for fans of fantasy and mythology. Monroe's writing is engaging, and the characters are both relatable and compelling. While the pacing and world-building could be refined, the overall experience is a thrilling and satisfying one.

Gates of Eden: The Druid Legacy Boxed Set by Theophilus Monroe Narrated by William Turbett is an Epic Authurian Action, Adventure Fantasy is has an engaging Storyline, well-developed characters, Arthurian mythology, creative fantasy, amd good pacing throughout the storyline. I would rate this series as an 18+ audience due to some on the continent. William Turbett does an excellent job in his narration.

In Book 1 the newly revised/edited edition Druid's Dance my favorite character is Emille and her high school relationship with the boys.

In Book 2 a Bard's Tale, Merlin is easily my favorite character, especially his unique relationship with his aunt.

In Book 3 the Ovate's Call the Morrigan becomes my favorite character. Which was unexpected for me. I won't tell you why, but let you read it for yourself... it's truly a story that makes you change your view of the character and how she plays her role in the entire story.

I am very picky about this kind of book. Anyone looking for mythological accuracy should look elsewhere. Anyone looking for theological or philosophical accuracy, then likewise. But, if you are looking for well written, and involving storytelling then look no further.
The characters are well written, consistent and believable. The story is well written, very well developed and totally pulled me in. It read huge chunks at a time. I really rooted for Elijah, Joni and their friends, and really felt like I knew and understood them.
I look forward, eagerly, to the author's next works. If they are as good as this, then I am going to really enjoy the ride.

I started really liking this author thanks to a different series (The Voodoo Queen), but then I found out he has multiple series in the same universe and the characters cross paths a lot. So I decided to listen to all of this books, chronologically. Each series reminds me about his academic background, because there is a mixture of philosophy, mythology and history in each of his books. At the same time, he creates really believable characters - the main character here, Elijah, is proof of that: he is both a „hero” AND a teenage boy. I love how the author matures his characters with each step through the story. Overall, great series, if you are fascinated by druids or that part of history, this is definitely the series for you!

Reality of Magic.

My favorite genre is Science Fiction not Fantasy but I absolutely happy for excepting this one for a review, beside having to learn a whole new dictionary of words, it was pure joy.

What an amazing imagination the author Theophilus Monroe got and it’s totally beyond me how he is able to keep up with the story which got so many characters, time travel and realities.

Truly incredible with
endless spins.

William Turbett is one of the best narrator in existence, his narration is perfectly done for each of the characters of this creation and many others.

Elijah, Emilie and Tyler are just normal high schoolers, at least from the outside. On the inside, that could not be further from the truth. Druids, bards and other mystical beings are about to flood your imagination, leaving only enough space to keep moving forward with the adventure. Camelot even plays a huge part with Merlin, knights and dragons.

The are so many similarities and pop culture references hidden throughout that is fun to see if you can catch them all, like pokemon.

I like his style and will be back for more.

fantastic read combines myth and truth

So much information and back story can lead to an overwhelming amount of information and a very rushed story but not in this story everything was explained at one point or another the amazing characters of course ones loved and ones loved to hate came together in the author’s mind and story from King Arthur to his most famous wizard to formorian’s druids and faeries tied neatly together with the origin story (Ask and Embla) Adam and Eve, the weaving of this story along with others from this same “world” carry over from one to another highly recommended and entertaining

There are many good reasons to love a trilogy boxset. The best is, that I get to read the complete story without delay and that was absolutely great in this case.
Theophilus Monroe is a great writer, who can spin a web of myths and legends, put relevant and modern characters into that web and create action-filled, fun stories, that I have trouble putting down.
This time was no different and the entire 25 hours, the audiobook lasts, I was entertained.
I ask for nothing more from this author.
Thank you to StoryOrigin for the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Good series! I really enjoyed it. You get to see Elijah grow into his powers. You get to meet his well known child with Joni. He finds his family in the most unexpected ways. And he finds himself saving the world. Great story line.
It took me a little to figure out that Joni is the same character in The Wyrmrider series. I had read that series a while ago and loved it. It was nice to see the other side of her story. If you like this series I recommend reading The Wyrmrider series as well.

I enjoyed all the stories in this boxed set a lot. The stories were creative and fun. The characters were interesting, and I liked the changes and growth that the characters undergo during all three tales. I have been a fan of Arthurian lore for a long time, and the inclusion of some of the major characters from Arthurian myths was like icing on the cake and added to the story's entertainment. Willaim Turbett's narration was great and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

I love this book set. Theophilus Monroe is a fantastic writer who draws the reader into a fantasy world like no other. The stories follow two teenage boys and a girl as they find out they are a Druid, a Bard, and an Ovate just like in the time of Arthur and The Knights of the Round Table. I absolutely loved this series! The keepers stories are amazing and they gradually all tie in together in an unexpected conclusion. There is also a bonus book at the end about the creation of the Morrigan and her back story as a post series prequel. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much but it was still a good story and very informative about the Morrigan. I can’t wait to read the spin of series’!
