A great feel good Christmas story. Our characters have come a long way from being saddled with a seriously run-down beach house in a very small beach town to developing it into year-round destination haven where the guests are treated like family. Thoroughly enjoyable journey. ;)
Another charming book in the Summer Beach series. We see some of the regulars but also meet some new characters. I love how they have fun planning activities for the Inn at Christmas time. The descriptions are very realistic and fun. The characters are charming and fun to get to know again meeting the new ones. Small town charm that will make you want to have a visit and stay for awhile. Wonderful and enjoyable read.
Published November 17th 2020 I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you. All opinions expressed are my own.
I was so excited when Jan Moran released another installment in her heartwarming Summer Beach series. I had missed visiting with Ivy, Shelley, Bennett, Mitch, and the other characters that make Summer Beach feel like home.
In this installment, opens with the Bay family’s Thanksgiving gathering at Seabreeze Inn. With the Christmas holidays approaching, Ivy is worried because bookings at the inn are downed. She must find a way to draw in customers so she can pay the bills. The Bay sisters may be short on funds, but they are never short on creativity, especially when they include their niece Poppy in their planning.
Four new characters join the series this time. I love that Moran inserts new characters with each book, thus, bringing in “new life”. But she doesn’t overwhelm the reader with a massive number of new people to track of. Relationships are evolving, and a new romance blossoms. I have loved the evolution of the characters as the series has progressed. Even the historic, beautiful, mysterious Seabreeze Inn has evolved. It functions much like a community center, hosting a wide range of activities not just for its guests, but also for this entire small-town community. And the mysterious Amelia Erickson, former owner of the house, has yet another surprise for Ivy.
I highly recommend this fun, heartfelt series. I look forward to the next installment – “Seabreeze Wedding”. Hmmm, who do you think it will be? Might there be two weddings?
This is book four in The Summer Beach Series and it continues the story of Ivy, Shelly and the crew. It is thanksgiving and all the family and friends are there to celebrate the success of the Seabreeze Inn after everything that Ivy has gone through. This book is absolutely amazing and there are many surprises along the way with twists and turns that you don't see coming along with kindness, forgiveness, hope, friendship, togetherness, love and family and I can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series. Ian Moran is an amazing author and writer and her books take you right into the story from the first page and you have to keep reading to see what will happen next and the characters and storyline pulled you in and it is so addictive. I definitely recommend you read this book, series and others by Jan and you will definitely not be disappointed.

This is another wonderful book in the series! I truly enjoyed reading it. A heartwarming & moving story. The great characters & small town charm make it the perfect Christmas read. Ivy & Shelly, are celebrating their first Holiday season at the Seabreeze Inn, with their family & friends, new & old. 🎄 A DEFINITE MUST READ!! 🎄
"Ideas coursed through Ivy’s mind. 'I think we have a real opportunity—not only to fill the inn but also to provide a unique experience where we come together as a surrogate family.'"
It's the start of the holidays and bookings at the Inn are down which makes Ivy Bay a little worried. Finding yet another box from the Inn's past isn't surprising as the original homeowners continue to remind us of the history and care that they put into the old place. Now it's become a lot more than an eyesore. It's an Inn. It's a Community Center. It has yet to give up all it's secrets....[reminder, another book is coming], all wrapped in the shiny new life the Bay family has given it.
I love Jan Moran's work! From "Scent of Triumph" to "Seabreeze Christmas" and beyond, IMHO she's one of the best at what she does: touch your heart like a feather and invite you along for the ride. Highly Recommended 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book as a gift from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
Fun with the Summer Beach crew during the holidays. I have enjoyed the 3 previous books and loved this one also. Christmas at the Seabreeze Inn is one I would love to experience. I have already ordered the Chocolate to make the Mexican Hot Chocolate talked about in the book with the recipe at the end.I sure would like some of Mitch’s muffins. A mysterious guest shows up for this story but, mystery solved at the end. Just the way I like it. Shelly and Mitch and Ivy and Bennet are always fun to read about and more so during the holidays. How will they make ends meet during the Holiday downtime. They will figure it out and have fun doing it. Enjoy.
Another heartwarming story with the Seabreeze Inn. The author brings back some "old" characters and introduces some "new" ones as she weaves a wonderful , heartfelt Christmas story. She does a beautiful job describing her characters and paints her scenes vividly as she delivers another small town feel good romance at the Seabreeze Inn.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
What a fun book. Christmas in Southern California is different than the usual winter wonderland but nonetheless just as fun, especially with the folks at Seabreeze Inn. I enjoyed this warm-weather story and of course the welcoming atmosphere of the town of Summer Beach. People are afforded second chances and given the benefit of the doubt, and the Christmas spirit brings closure and togetherness.
This was my least favorite of Jan Moran’s books in the Seabreeze series. It was over the top touchy-feely, even for chick lit. Some examples of the text that eventually got tiresome: “Bennett smoothed his hand over Ivy’s”; “Ivy caught Bennett’s hand and turned her cheek into it”; “He lifted a golden-brown strand of hair from her forehead.” Gag. There were a few word usage and/or spelling errors that the editor or proofreader missed (such as “thought” instead of “ though”) that were kind of annoying, as well. Finding a cache of priceless vintage Christmas ornaments in a hidden storeroom in the garage held some promise, but this seemed like a “rush to meet the deadline” effort that was not very well executed, in my opinion.
Another delightful visit with Ivy and Shelly and all of the people of Summer Beach. What could be better than spending the holidays at a fabulous house with wonderful people and great food? Ivy and Shelly make new traditions for themselves and their families along with new friends that are alone for the holidays. They also discover more about their home that is fascinating! I love how the history is interwoven into this story. Great characters and wonderful story. A great feel good story that marries two of my favorites, Christmas and the beach! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Christmas on the beach. I've read books by Jan Moran before, but not in this series. And even though this is the 4th book in the series, it can be read as a standalone, as I found out. Although as a reader you will be bombarded with characters at the start of the book. The main characters have a lot of friends and family. And that is a bit confusing the first few pages. But after that, it just is a lot of fun. It takes place in California, but the warmth of the story comes from the characters and the Mexican Hot Chocolate! Wonderful book! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Unless it goes on sale on Chirp I won't be finishing the series. Too much of a romance story - not enough mystery. I do love the family feel of the Inn but it's hard to read through all the mushy love declarations.
I have loved every book in this series so far and they just keeping getting better with each one!!!!!!! I highly recommend this series to everyone who loves a great beach story
This is my first book by this author - and it might be jumping into the middle of a series - but it was a Christmas book I could get on ebook and audio at the same time so I gave it a try. Maybe I would’ve connected with it more if I had started with book 1.
It kind of gave me Elin Hilderbrand vibes - similar to her family B&B at the holidays. Also with lots of characters and too many details on decorations, etc. that I didn’t really care about. Ivy and her sister, Shelly, are trying to make a go of the Seabreeze Inn, coming up with new ideas to bring in more interest and income during Christmas. There are some details on family dynamics, a bit of second chance romance, and a little bit of mystery with hidden treasure and an unusual guest. It’s an ok story and a pretty quick read with a Christmas focus. Nothing fabulous for me. But it was an ok Hallmark style Christmas read.
Picking this one up as a Christmas in July read for a challenge. This is my first book in the series and by this author as well and it is as sweet as the cinnamon in your Mexican hot chocolate! There is so much holiday cheer in the events that the Inn is planning, sweet characters and relationship development, as well as a bit of a mysterious visitor and the history of the house.
cute story wedding planning at the inn jewels found in a doll finding the thief is the little dog interactions of surrogate family at the inn who are displaced from their homes after fires. remarkable strength of character of Ivy and others is portrayed well by the author . interactions angry neighbor

I honestly would give this 4 stars if it weren't for Sunny who is a spoiled brat who needs to grow up. Why would her family put up with that and not shake her silly. Enough whining
This is book four of the Summer Beach series and continues the story of the new owners of Seabreeze Inn, sisters Ivy and Shelly Bay. Ivy has just managed to pay the huge property tax bill her late husband left her with when he bought the property for him and his girlfriend. But the running costs of the place are huge, due to its size and the cost of the utilities and heating bills. They realise that Summer Beach pretty much closes down in the off season and they haven’t been getting any more bookings. They need to find some way of getting more guests into the inn, or they won’t make it until next spring. It is coming up to Thanksgiving and they have invited their extended family to come and stay and the inn and are looking forward to seeing their parents before they go off on an around the world sail in their boat, and will be travelling for almost four years! Ivy can’t afford to even decorate the inn for the holidays, money is so tight.
Ivy gets to introduce her boyfriend and mayor of the town, Bennett to her parents, but the presence of her youngest daughter Sunny, brings the mood down a lot. She still doesn’t seem to be over her father’s death and the change in her mother and therefore her own, personal circumstances. She is also having to pay of a large credit card bill she rang up last time she took off and expected her mum to pay for her extravagances. She is not a fan of her mother starting to move on and even though Ivy is taking it really slowly with her relationship with Bennett, she resents him taking over the role of her father, which he is not trying to do, but she is still suffering from her grief and not thinking of others. An unexpected and unusual guest with a backpack and wearing sandals, who says he is known as Nick Snow, has been referred on from Mitch, but doesn’t even have a credit card to make his payment. Ivy trusts him to pay his bill, never having anyone stiff her on their bill.
The spirit of the holiday season seems to come with Nick’s arrival and when he asks to see any pictures or history of the building, she shows him the photo album they have put together about the previous live of the inn. This makes the sisters look at it again as well, realising they never found any decorations in their previous explorations of the inn, but the album might show them how the building was decorated in its heyday. It does, which leads the sisters to anther image of the garage and a possible doorway, they have never seen. They manage to locate a hidden room full of old crates of decorations and get all the family and guests to help decorate a huge tree, their friends in town donate to them! One of the decorations is a fragile and fancy looking one and Nick places it on the mantelpiece out of danger. When one of the family tries to take a closer look at it, it drops to the floor and reveals quite a surprise. Whether it should belong to the current owners, or should be considered part of the previous owner’s estate, has to be looked into, when it turns out to be more expensive than first thought.
A full programme of events for the holidays includes wreath making, a gingerbread recipe cook-off, carol singing and musical evenings, as well as all the usual yoga and art sessions and more. The town also have a Santa run or stroll and even a boat parade, where all of the town take part in decorating the boats or watching from the beach. Mayor Bennett is hoping to advance his relationship with Ivy, especially when he can see the love between Shelly and Mitch, as well as Nick and a female guest, but he isn’t sure if Ivy is quite ready to take the relationship further, with her daughters to think about. A magical touch at the Seabreeze Inn as the holidays hit and the sisters have to come up with new and exciting ways to attract more guests and more income. A shocking surprise from their mystery guest, which I almost though could have been going in another direction, but loved the way it did go! Another lovely story in this series and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series as romance will be high on the agenda, as wedding bells ring. I would recommend this series to all who love a sweet romance, but also a story of life and its many challenges and showing you people who manage to overcome huge obstacles. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
If you’re looking for a cozy holiday read that will wrap you up in festive cheer, Seabreeze Christmas is a perfect choice. Set in the charming beachside town of Summer Beach, this novel has all the elements that make a Christmas story feel magical—family, love, community, and the discovery of unexpected treasures.
The story follows sisters Ivy and Shelly Bay, who decide to open the historic Seabreeze Inn for the holidays, filling it with festive events like a Gingerbread Bake-off and a Santa Sprint on the beach. Despite financial troubles at the inn, they’re determined to bring the holiday spirit to life for their guests. There’s a wonderful sense of community that shines through in the book, where the town’s residents, families, and even unexpected visitors all come together to celebrate.
Ivy’s relationship with the mayor, Bennett Dylan, adds a romantic touch to the story, though it’s not without its challenges. Ivy’s grown children have their opinions, and the season puts her relationship to the test, but through it all, love and support remain central themes. What I loved most is how the novel emphasizes that everyone is family at the Seabreeze Inn, making it a warm and heartwarming read.
Even though this is the fourth book in the series, I can confirm that it reads perfectly as a standalone. I hadn’t read the previous books, but I had no trouble diving into the lives of the characters, and I’m definitely adding the earlier novels to my TBR shelf.
A delightful side plot involves Ivy stumbling upon a hidden treasure that could change her life. It adds a touch of mystery and intrigue, which I enjoyed immensely, but I won’t spoil any details for future readers.
The Narration:
I listened to the audiobook version, narrated by the ever-talented Erin Bennett. Her narration brought the characters to life with distinct voices and her perfect pacing. If you’re an audiobook fan, I highly recommend this version—Bennett truly adds another layer of warmth and charm to an already heartwarming story.
Final Thoughts:
Seabreeze Christmas is a delightful holiday escape that leaves you feeling all the cozy, festive vibes. If you love beachside Christmas stories filled with romance, family bonds, and a touch of mystery, this one’s for you.
This is one of the best Christmas books that I’ve read. It isn’t preach or syrupy. It centers on the true meaning of the holiday: caring for others and doing the right things. I also liked that it included a Hanukkah celebration; that’s a rarity in a Christmas book and much appreciated. The book has the right mix of holiday, romance, family, friendship, business, and life living in a small beach community.
I completely love the people who populate this series, especially in this book. Yes, I mean the characters. They’re rich and three-dimensional. They are what keeps me reading and hoping for more books in this series. This volume offers some new and interesting characters, one who offers a bit of a mystery.
I loved how the author wove into this book characters from the Seabreeze/Summer Beach series with her Coral Cottage series. It was fun to see Ginger and hear more about her relationship with Julia Child. There’s also a small nod to the author’s new historical novel, The Perfumer.
This book captured me from page one and held me throughout. It left me feeling happy and satisfied. That’s what a holiday book should do. There were also some delightful surprises toward the end of the book.
If you’ve been following this series, this is definitely a book you don’t want to miss. So much happens within its pages. I won’t give anything away, but, truly, this is a must read for Summer Beach/Seabreeze Inn fans. I can’t wait for what comes next.
I received a copy of this book from the author through Booksprout. I thank her for her generosity in sharing her work with me, but it had no effect on this review. All opinions in this review reflect my true and honest reactions to reading this book.
Another book in the Seabreeze Inn series where Ivy Bay inherited a large home from her deceased husband which he purchased without her knowledge using all their savings....while he was having a secret affair. From past books, we know Ivy, along with her sister (Shelley) and niece (Poppy), managed to open an inn using the historic house. The author had a lot more to integrate into the story as she catches up readers with what has happened previously. This does allow someone to read this as a stand-alone book.
This book deals with the holiday season as Ivy is trying to figure out how to keep the inn alive through the winter months in Southern California. Brainstorming with Shelley and Poppy, they deicde to offer special deals for holiday packages along with yoga, art, concerts, decorating, wreath making, etc for those visiting. Even though they live in a coastal town, the small community does have a lot happening in the holiday season.
Throughout the book we see love threading its way through the lives of the characters in the book. There is love for Ivy from her family, community, and of course, Bennett (her teenage crush.) There is love for the inn and for the guests who come to stay. The desire to see Ivy succeed with the inn is strong throughout the community and her family and all seem to pull together to guarantee her success.
The fun parts of a coastal town at Christmas are so different than most places. The boat ragada with all boats decorated, the Santa Sprint along the beach, a warm weather holiday market....a new look at what most of us expect to see at Christmas.
Ivy and Shelly are running an inn in Summer Beach. Christmas is coming and they are struggling financially, so they are brainstorming ideas to entice people to visit the inn for the holidays. With the help of Poppy, their niece, they come up with some great ideas! A gingerbread bake-off, wreath making, and community potlucks are just a few. When Nick Snow ,a young man down on his luck asks for a room, the women embrace him and welcome him into the fold. There is something special about Nick Snow but they also suspect he is hiding something. When other guests start to arrive, this Christmas just might be the best one yet.
This novel by Jan Moran is the perfect Christmas gift to compliment the Seabreeze series. We get to visit with past characters and get to see how Mitch and Shelly’s relationship is progressing. The main character Ivy is still a little shy about her relationship with Bennett, but I will not spoil that story line with any teasers! This novel is just so sweet filled with not only holiday cheer, but family, friendship, community and most importantly, love. I am such a fan of this series and of Ms. Moran’s brilliant writing style and character development. This is one series you do not want to miss, even those Ms. Moran does an excellent job of filling in the backstory so you can read it as a stand a lone novel. I would like to thank Jan Moran for an advanced copy of the book to review. It was fabulous! All opinions expressed for this review are unbiased and entirely my own.
Probably Shouldn’t Be Your First Foray to the Seabreeze Inn
I had read this author's historical fiction and enjoyed it very much, so when I saw this Christmas book at one of my favorite book review sites (when I was on the hunt for holiday reads), I decided to give it a try. As this author is still relatively new to me, I had read no other books in the Seabreeze Inn series. I certainly felt like that put me at a distinct disadvantage for this book. The first scene is one of a giant family gathering for the holidays. The author introduced many characters at once, telling briefly of their relationships to each other, and the main characters. It was a bit too much at once to keep everything and everyone straight. I wonder if that would have been better had I read any of the previous books. It also feels like this book is not just a part of a series, but nearly episodic in nature. What do I mean by that? It doesn't feel like a self-contained story, more like a slice of life without a proper beginning, middle, and end that we so adore (and expect) in story structure. The author was somewhat overly repetitive at times, touching on the same thoughts of the characters repeatedly too close together. This book feels so different from her historical ones; I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that it's the same author. I have to say that I enjoy her historical books better than this contemporary one.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
