Nicholas and Perenelle Flamel have rescued the world from destruction countless times over—but can they save Christmas as well?
Now, that lost story is told. . . .
It is the first Christmas after the end of World War II, and something evil is moving through New York. The ancient immortal human Sinter Klaas, better known as Kris Kringle, is being hunted by a terrifying horned creature: the goat-demon called the Krampus. When the Flamels receive a desperate call from their old friend Kris, they must devise a plan to trap the monster—and get it all done before Christmas Eve.

Nicholas of Myra/Saint Nicholas/Kris Kringle/Santa Claus/Sinter Klass is self-promoting and allied with Frau Perchta. Nick is being hunted by the evil Krampus and needs the Flamels to save Christmas.
Nicholas and the Krampus is a likeable story. Amidst all the different mythologies that the Nicholas Flamel series have explored, it was fun that this one explored Christmas, albeit not in much depth. I didn't love the writing style, though. I don't seem to remember the series being written in first person before and it was quite jarring and unpleasant. Then again, maybe it's always been written this way and I just forgot.
This is a pretty quick read. It’s less than a hundred pages so you can finish it in one sitting. Given the setting of the story, it will really make for a good Christmas story. But then again, the element of magic and mystery is already gone. Because this is The Alchemyst we’re talking about. Magic and mystery abound in the series. But it was a really nice take on Father Christmas. It’s pretty nice to see a baytle for Christmas supremacy. It was pretty unique. 😁
Good story, same level of fun as the rest, but it was extremely quick. The action scene at the end was a minor let down as it concluded super quick despite the decent build of an "epic battle" between the two sides (Nicholas vs Krampus).
This one requires to read the other Nicholas story for a definite understanding, but can be read without it as enough context clues are given to understand on its own.
I always learn about something new in the Nicholas Flamel stories. This was an unexpected story and is a great Christmas story and I will bring it out again in December. My only wish was that it was longer.
A fun little adventure, filled with Christmas spirit and colourful characters. And i'm always learning new things from this series, so thanks again Michael Scott.
