Samantha Foster does not let life keep her down. While many look at her and pity her, she takes life by the horn and make it her b****. At nineteen after a skiing accident she was left a paraplegic and told that she will never walk again. Fast forward nineteen years later and she’s on the back of a horse on her family’s resort saving a poor innocent guy who’s horse got spooked and ran off. Little did she know that this man would change her life. Blake Wise does not shy away from those who are wheelchair bound and different. Having a brother who is a paraplegic, he vowed to make it possible for this brother to live the beat he can, hence 3D robotics was formed. What was supposed to be a smooth business transaction was anything but that. Sam’s stubbornness and Blake refusal to back down showed them what’s missing in their life. Love. But will they choose each other or will they continue to life their life they o KU way they know how.

I enjoyed this book. I saw Sam as a person and not just someone in a wheelchair. Sometimes we forget to see the person and just look at their situation. Blake did just that. He saw past the wheelchair. He saw someone who wanted to help others just like him. My heart did break a little when Blake made a choice between Sam and his brother. While I understood his reasoning it still hurt while reading it. I would definitely recommend this book to others.

What a great addition to the Silver Fox Resort Series.
I was intrigued by the blurb but Sam Foster and Blake Wise’s Story was so much more than I expected, it captivated from the first page and there was no putting down until the final line had been read.
Sam is back home at the Silver Fox Resort, she is there to help run the place and start looking at a training facility for Paralympian’s, she is paralysed and in a wheelchair but that doesn’t mean she is helpless and when Blake arrives at the resort with a request for her to try out his new exoskeleton device, she point blank refuses to have anything to do with him or the device. Blake has lots of experience with spinal injuries, his brother is a quadriplegic and the pair have worked together to get their exoskeleton devices in the market.
Will Sam let Blake get close to her or will she push him away......
I loved Sam and her story touched me on so many levels, she is a woman we would all love in our corner but what about Blake, well I fell hook, line and sinker for this man and I found myself hoping and wishing this couple would get their act together and get the HEA they both deserved. A beautifully written, heartfelt story that has characters you will love and a story that will captivate you. Yes you will shed some tears but every tear is worth it, so all that’s left for me to say is please one click this gem of a read, you won’t be disappointed.

5 Star Review Silver Dollar (Silver Fox Resort) by Lyz Kelley

From start to finish I was fully invested in the story that Lyz Kelley wove. This is Sam Foster and Blake Wise’s story and it had such an interesting blurb I couldn’t wait to read it. Although it can be read as a stand alone, it is part of a series. Initially when Sam and Blake meet there are fireworks but as they come to know one another a mutual respect and friendship was formed.

Sam has returned to help her family run the Silver Fox Resort, she is paralyzed, in a wheelchair, but this does not stop her from doing what needs to be done. Sam wants to build a training centre at the resort for Paralympians to come and train so Sam asks Blake for advice as he is familiar with spinal injuries as he has looked after his quadriplegic brother for some time and owns a company that makes exoskeleton devices.

I really liked Sam, she is feisty and I admired her strength and determination. There are some twists and turns woven into this story and that added an additional layer to my enjoyment. I was really cheering for these two, however they have a lot of hurdles to get through before they get the happily ever after that the both deserved.

This was a heart warming story that brought me to tears.

After a terrible accident nearly two decades ago Sam was not about to let the fact that she couldn’t walk define who she was instead it only made her that much more determined to live her life her way. She is on her way to achieving her dream of coaching Paralympian athletes, so she doesn’t need the distraction of Blake and his life changing product.

Blake is well aware of the adversities that people who can’t walk face as his brother and is business partner is one of them. He believes he has the perfect product to improve the quality of her life however she doesn’t agree and that’s when the fun really begins.

Blake and Sam couldn’t be more perfect for each other and although they had a few obstacles to overcome there was no denying that they belong together.

3.75 stars--SILVER DOLLAR is the second instalment in Lyz Kelley’s contemporary, adult SILVER FOX RESORT over 40 romance series focusing on the Foster siblings. This is forty-two year old, fitness instructor Samantha Foster, and fifty year old tech developer Blake Wise’s story line. SILVER DOLLAR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: Following the death of their father, the Foster siblings inherited the run down Silver Fox resort. Working together, Zoey, Cade, Samantha, and Steel endeavor to bring the family back together, and redesign a world class getaway vacation spa and fitness centre.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Blake and Samantha) SILVER DOLLAR follows the building relationship between forty-two year old, Samantha Foster, and fifty year old Blake Wise. Samantha Foster is a paraplegic having lost the use of her legs following a devastating accident nineteen years earlier. Always independent Samantha finds herself on the defensive when millionaire tech developer Blake Wise offers to test the company’s newest robotic, a robotic her late father paid for and contracted. Having been forced by his partner and brother to take some time off, Blake spends a romantic week with our story line heroine only to be called home for a family emergency. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Blake and Samantha, and the potential fall-out as Blake must come to terms balancing his business, his family and his personal life.

Blake Wise is a care-taker since his brother’s accident he blames on himself. As the CEO of 3D Robotics, Blake is hoping Samantha Foster is the best candidate for their new exoskeleton but our heroine’s immediate refusal finds Blake at an impasse including his future with the company his brother is hoping to sell. Samantha Foster is a fiercely independent, single woman who struggles to accept help from family and friends. Falling for Blake Wise spirals out of control when problems back home pull the man with whom she is falling in love, out of her life for the foreseeable future.

SILVER DOLLAR is a story of family and friendships, independence and disabilities, romance, love and happily ever after. The premise is sweet and engaging; the characters are energetic and colorful.

Loved this book! The strong vibrant characters garner our admiration and capture our attention. Their story is sweet, inspirational and captivating. This book beautifully illustrates the romantic journey of an interabled couple (one person disabled the other not), which very few other romances do. The topic of disabilities is handled with great care, perception and insight, and evokes only admiration, not pity.

Samantha (Sam) is stubborn, determined, and ambitious. Some people may see her as disabled because of her wheel chair, but being a paraplegic has not stopped her from tackling life head on, riding a horse, or being a fitness instructor. In the past, the men she has dated or been interested in have found it hard to see past her wheelchair and the extra health concerns that come with being a paraplegic, but Blake sees the woman not the chair. He sees the strength, the hard-won independence, the mile wide stubborn streak and the woman who is determined to reach her goal of being a Paralympic coach. His quadriplegic brother and his business have given him a chance to be comfortable around people of all abilities. He knows about the health issues that Sam could face, but it doesn’t deter his interest in her. She challenges him, understands his need to help, to invent and to be involved, and unexpectedly claims his heart. For the first time in years, Sam has let her guard down, and had begun to care for the man who really sees her and not her disability. Though his stay at her family’s resort is meant to be temporary, the sale of his business means Blake’s life and focus will need to change and perhaps Sam can play a role in his new future. Before they can even discuss what comes next, a sudden crisis sends Blake into panic mode and back to Denver, but not before Sam tells him to take the time to really think about what he wants in life, if he really wants her to be part of his future. Is it just infatuation or is it love between them? Is their future together or apart?

I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

A Sweet Mature Romance by a Talented Author!

I loved this second book in the Silver Fox Resort series! Set in one of my favorite spots on the planet, the Central California coast, Ms. Kelley's colorful descriptions of the area took me right back there.

This is the story of Sam(antha) Foster, a stubborn but driven paraplegic athlete who, at 40-ish, has found her calling as a trainer for paralimpic athletes. As she works to build the perfect layout on her family-owned resort, she meets a man who makes her feel like a whole and able woman again. Brother to a quadriplegic, Blake Wise has come to the resort to fit Sam for a exoskeleton purchased by her late estranged father, a fact that surprises and angers Sam. Following an awkward initial meeting, Sam slowly learns to trust this man who sees her for her real self and not just as a woman in a chair. As an engineer who works with his brother to build robotics to improve the lives of every para- and quadriplegic, Blake is familiar with the issues that can arise from being wheelchair bound. As their relationship grows, personal issues throw up roadblocks along the way, but their families encourage each of them let go of past guilt and assumptions on their way to their HEA.

Lyz Kelley's well-researched and straightforward writing style had me really believing these characters and understanding their emotion-driven decisions. I loved Sam's strength and resolve to make every day count as well as her relationships with her family. I fell in love with Blake for his kindness, patience, and surprise at falling in love.

Most of all, I was surprised to realize how much I enjoyed this story without the graphic sex scenes I usually expect in most romance novels (and also usually enjoy). Ms. Kelley was able to convey these emotions while leaving the action to our imagination, which can often be pretty steamy! To me, that is the mark of a talented author.

I look forward to reading all her other books soon!

This incredibly well written and researched romance between mature adults had me engrossed from the opening chapter to the last. Samantha's stubbornness is both her best and her worst quality. Never having learned to ask for help, she is determined to reach her almost impossible goals on her own. When Blake Wise arrives at the ranch with the good news that he plans to evaluate her for the exoskeleton device his company has been developing, he does not get the response he expected. Not knowing the family's history, he does not know about her father's controlling ways or the deep-seated resentment she bears him. Blake quickly comes to the conclusion that whilst Samantha would be a perfect candidate for the device, she is in fact coping quite well without it. Just when he starts putting a plan together to reach Samantha on another level, his brother and business partner calls him to speak of changes he wants to implement in the company, thereby making all that Blake has worked for redundant. This novel may well be fiction, but the determination shown by Samantha is evident in the many lives of athletes who make it to the Olympics, the North Pole, and other feats of endurance. I loved all the characters in this novel and found them to be very believable, especially as I personally know people who are both overcomers and those who make it possible for them to realise their dreams. I was deeply touched by the reevaluation of their lives that both main characters underwent and their ability to bring about the changes that made them more balanced people. Although part of a series, this novel is a standalone and comes to a celebratory conclusion. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

This book can be read as a stand alone, but it goes well as part of the series, too. This book is about Sam Foster who is paralyzed from the waist down and is in a wheelchair. Her first meeting with Blake Wise is full of fireworks, first she rescues him from his run away horse then she tells him off after finding out that he is there because her father petitioned Blake's company to build an exoskeleton for her. Blake is intrigued from the get go by the spitfire known as Sam and if there is one thing that Blake has learned from working with and taking care of his quadriplegic brother it is how to best go about getting someone in their condition to accept help without making them feel helpless. While staying at the Silver Fox resort, Blake gets word from his brother that they have had a buyout offer that is too good to pass up, so now Blake has to figure out what he is going to do once he loses his company. Sam is trying to build a training center at the resort for Paralympians to come and train at and asks Blake for his input. The more time they spend together the closer they grow, but neither one believes that they deserve to be together forever. Read the book to see if Sam and Blake can find their HEA and see how they handle what other challenges life has in store for them. You won't be disappointed that you did. Their strength and determination uplifted me and I was almost in tears by the end of the book (good tears).
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My new favorite couple!

Samantha, a fitness coach who has a spinal cord injury and confined to a wheelchair, most certainly exemplifies one of Lyz Kelley's "everyday heroes.". She's been dealt some pretty tough times in her past, but this woman is so independent, stubborn, hard working, loving and resilient, and she takes full responsibility for the reason for her chair. As Lyz pens in her book, Sam has a "new sense of ordinary after a tragedy." And her family will meddle , I mean support her all the way!

Enter Blake, the CEO of a robotics company, who feels totally responsible for his younger brother's life in a chair. He checks into the Silver Fox Resort to have Sam try out his company's exoskeleton suit that may help her walk. But Sam doesn't want any part of it because one, it's tied to her dad, and two, she may have some limitations, but she's not handicapped! Yet Blake is not deterred.

These two have met their match! Their loving story brings out the best in the human spirit, whether they are giving or receiving. Ms. Kelley tackled a very serious subject matter, yet treated her characters with such honesty, sincerity, dignity and respect - a profound gift to her readers.

I seriously hope to see a wedding and Sam's dreams fulfilled before this series ends. I love this book and have to say that Sam and Blake are my new favorite characters. I've truly enjoyed both books about the sisters, Zoey and Sam, and look forward to brothers Cade and Steel's books to come. Start writing, Lyz, your readers are waiting! 😊

Heart Warming & Touching Story!

This is what we need in this world - more Blake's & more inspirational true stories shaped like this fictional one. Blake has his own 3-D Robotics business to better assist spinal injury candidates so they are more mobile. Blake's brother, Wes has been paralyzed for a few years & between them both, they are creative in helping those candidates who want to be independent & making their lives easier outside of the wheelchair. Samantha & Wes are both headstrong & will not let anything or anyone crush their spirit or stop them from living life to its fullest. There is no time in feeling sorry for yourself. Blake is older than Sam but he does show his sensitive side & treats her like the queen that she is. He doesn't treat her as a handicapped person & he's in awe of her passion, her inspiration & drive to do everything herself.

This story may be fictional but one can see there has been a lot of research invested into completing this novel, making it as true to realistic as possible. You feel the emotions both Blake & Sam feel about themselves, as well as to each other. He needs to convince her that he loves her personality, her beauty, her independence & drive, not the woman who's in a wheelchair & watching life pass her by. She is to be admired. A very touching story & I highly recommend this novel in your next story to read!

I volunteered to read this ARC & leave an honest review.

I have been looking forward to reading 'Silver Dollar' since the sneak peak we were given at the end of 'Silver Spoon' when we were introduced to Sam and Blake.

Sam is such a fiercely independent woman, who goes after what she wants with courage and conviction. Sam was paralysed from the waist down after a skiing accident. But she doesn't let this stop her from living her life. When Blake shows at the Silver Fox Resort with an exoskeleton to help her have more independence, she rejects his product, not wanting anything from her father.

They both have a lot to learn from each other and with sparks flying between them, it isn't long before they give into their attraction.

Blake has spent his life creating products and technology to help his brother gain his independence. As his brother is now married and the company they built being sold, Blake has to work out what direction he wants to take his life to him in.

Whilst Sam is independent, there is a vulnerability to her and she always wonders if people are around her out of sympathy and has to deal with being treated differently. Blake sees the woman behind the wheelchair and treats her with respect, kindness and allows her to be independent but be there if she needs him.

I really enjoyed this book, the setting and the story. I loved revisiting Silver Fox Resort and these well suited characters.

Silver Dollar: An Over 40 Romance Novel by Lyz Kelley is Sam's story.  When Sam helps a guest on a run away horse she never expected Blake Wise. He is there because her father bought her an exoskeleton suit. The fact that Sam's father bought that suit leaves a bad taste in her mouth and her irritation rubs off on Blake. Eventhough she is irritated about the entire situation, there is something about Mr. Wise that has her wanting to spend time with him. Blake Wise knows all about being around someone who is paralyzed.  His brother and business partner  has been in a chair for over 30 years. Blake blames himself for his brother's condition. Blake doesn't a woman in a wheelchair.  He sees Sam as a energetic vibrant woman who has gotten his attention. This was a cute story of two people who had no plans of having a relationship. I was looking forward to their story and I was not disappointed. Getting to know more about Sam and how she became paralyzed was interesting. Blake had his own issues. Seeing him work through them and finding his happy ending with Sam left a smile on my face. A 4 star read.

Wow. This book is such an amazing story of hope and overcoming what appear to be insurmountable odds. I also found it to be about stubbornness, and growth, and forgiveness of ourselves and others. Sam is a proud, fiercely determined woman who has decided that being in a wheelchair wasn’t going to stop her from doing anything she wanted. I am in awe of her courage and drive. Blake is just as proud and just as driven. And even though they started out on opposite sides of the situation, I loved seeing how the pair were able to compromise, find common ground, and grow from there. One of the things I like best about a family-based series is getting to know the entire clan. We get to check back in with the previous successful couples and connect with the family members that will star in future books. I’m not exactly sure who the author is going to highlight next, but I’m looking forward to it no matter who it is.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

Sam moved to help her siblings run their family resort. Being a paraplegic since she was young has been hard but she's determined to help other spinal cord injury people train and achieve their goals. Blake owns a company that makes exoskeleton devices. He comes to Silver Fox to see if Sam is a candidate. But he finds out Sam is a strong independent woman and she wants nothing to do with him or the device. When Blake realizes he's not going to get Sam to except the device he decides to stay and enjoy a vacation. But the more time he spends relaxing he finds he enjoys spending time with Sam and finds reasons to keep seeing her. Sam has given up on men after all the stares and comments she's put up with for her life, but Blake keeps trying and she finally gives in to spending time with him.

Silver Dollar is Samantha Foster's story, and it's definitely emotional. She was in a terrible accident 19 years ago & it left her a paraplegic (that's the real original part) and she really doesn't take help from anyone since she wants to be seen as strong & independent. Blake Wise is a 50 year old who is forced to take some time off which landed him some time with Samantha. Oh, and her father had paid Blake's company for a robotic to help his daughter, but Samantha isn't having it. It leads to all kinds of drama, some unnecessary in my opinion. I really liked these two together despite all the questionable decisions that caused more issues rather than helped. I really LOVE the Silver Fox Resort series, and definitely cannot wait for more so hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I am surprisingly loving this series. Surprisingly because I tend to shy away from the romance genre. This is the second book in this series and focuses on the younger sister who is paralyzed after an accident. The story is well written and very engaging.

When the CEO of a robotics company books a week at the resort he has an ulterior motive. He wants to evaluate and fit Sam for an exoskeleton that her father paid for. She is Adams t that it’s not going to happen. With the remainder of Blake’s week of vacation looming in front of him he decides to spend as much time as possible with Sam. They never expected to fall in love.

I received an arc of this book and voluntarily provided a review.

It was instinctive the way I fell for you. Like an effortless intake of breath...

This small community of Silver Fox Resort has one again captured my heart. This story is about younger sister Sam. She is independent and feisty. After her tragic accident, she is confined to a wheelchair. That definitely does not stop her from reaching for her goals and dreams.

When Blake Wise shows up at the Resort, he does not hit it off with Sam at first. He is the CEO of 3D Robotics and wants Sam to see if his new product will be a helpful addition to her quality of life. Sam shoots him down at the get go. Blake and Sam are made for each other but they don't know it yet. I loved watching this mature couple's love bloom. I am looking forward to reading about Sam's brother in the next book.

Silver Dollar is a wonderful addition to the Silver Fox Resort series. This book and these characters will warm your heart, give you hope that all things can be possible and will keep you engaged from beginning to the end.
I loved Sam’s independent spirit but I also enjoyed Blake’s determination. They may have gotten off to a rocky start but they once they got to know each other they realized they had a lot in common. They both understand that life can change in an instant and this is what drives them both to help others deal with the obstacles that they may face in life.
Blake and Sam quickly fell into a comfortable conversation and the chemistry they both felt drove them together, but it was their hearts that gave them the final push towards a happily ever after!

Silver Dollar is a heartbreakingly beautiful love story between two great characters over 40. Almost twenty years ago Sam was in an accident that left her a paraplegic and made her determined to be independent. Blake is the CEO of 3D Robotics and was hired to help Sam with robotics but she is determined that she doesn't need help. I loved these two for each other even though they had a few obstacles get in their way they are perfect for each other. I loved that Lyz Kelley does a lot of research for each book she writes because it makes the stories that much more believable. I can't wait to read the next book by this amazing author. Refreshing Story

Sam and Blake meeting started off a bit strained. They met unexpectedly at the resort when his horse was spooked & she took off trying to slow his horse down while putting herself in danger. He was there to see if she was a candidate for product his company designed to help people walk that her father had purchased. Sam was very stubborn and wanted nothing to do with this purchase or help from anyone. Sam soon realized Blake really saw her not the disability. They were both lost and needed each other to move forward in there lives. Will they find love, friendships or both.

I am totally in love with this series. Sam and Blake's story presses all the emotional buttons from making me laugh to crying with joy as it deals with the very real problems faced by disabled people and the people who love and care for them. It also delves into feelings of guilt from past actions and forgiveness. Lyz Kelly deals with these issues in a respectful and knowledgeable way giving the reader a personal insight into living with disabilities and the endless options for people to explore. Highly recommended.

A different love story

This story was an eye opener. It will make you think about how you perceive and react to persons with any disability. Samantha’s life changed dramatically in seconds, as did Blake’s. Them finding each other and becoming a purpose in each other’s future, is what makes this love story one I recommend.
The story built up slowly, but the ending almost seemed to abrupt.
I will definitely look for more works from this Author.

Another great addition to the Silver Fox Resort series. Samantha (Sam) and Blake have a great connection and I enjoyed going through the process of their relationship as a reader. They both had some issues to work through and I appreciated how the author used those issues to grow each character and yet, it didn't come across as overly dramatic or unrealistic. Loved It and I'm looking forward to the next book!

Silver Dollar by Lyz Kelley is part of the Silver Fox Resort series.  This is a contemporary, interabled romance with main characters who are over the age of 40.  The lovestory is sweet with just enough drama to overcome.  Sam and Blake are fun characters and fantastic together.  I really enjoyed their journey.

Some parts of this were really good. The parts about Sam's disability were handled sensitively and sensibly. They had some good conversations in the middle of the book. But the other parts of the book were odd. I have no idea why Sam and Blake make certain choices. I would have liked some more maturity around the 75 percent mark. Just not my cup of tea.

I enjoyed reading this book. It deals with persons with disabilities and gets the message across that a person is just who they are regardless of physical ability. Blake and Sam are great characters. She is a bit sassy but very independent. He is a great hero fighting his own feelings of guilt. Together they persevere and lead to a happy ending.
