Abigail George resolved long ago to never marry, but at twenty-two, the stakes are high and her parents simmer for a marriage. As their hunt for an appropriate suitor begins, Abigail starts one of her own: to find a man of ill reputation in order to darken society’s opinion of her long enough to escape marital bliss. The dashing man she chooses couldn’t be worse in society’s eyes, but he has several secrets up his sleeves, ones Abigail cannot possibly prepare herself for. But as the two grow closer, and her father has found an otherwise delightful, intelligent suitor, time is of the essence. Will Abigail ruin her reputation and abandon the idea of marriage forever? Or will she find a way to unite with her true love, despite her volatility toward the entire sanctity of marriage and his terrible reputation?
Even though Seth Nicholson is a Duke, society has long-since turned its back on him. Gossip, rumors and scandals swirl around his name, and his father has demanded he take a step back from his raucous party days in order to clean up his image. It is within this timeframe that he encounters the gorgeous, red-haired spitfire, Abigail George, whilst on a ride across the moors. Abigail is the most bull-headed, beautiful creature Seth has ever met, but it’s only when their conversation goes deeper that he recognizes she’s trying to set him up…When their arrangement becomes so deep and passionate that threatens to make him lose his mind, will he decide to dance on the wild side and let his fate in her hands?
Slowly, over the span of sizzling summer weeks, they find common ground with one another and begin an impossible but yet so passionate affair within the empty walls of his estate. Will they lose their hearts in the most reckless caprice of their life, or will they discover the most scandalous pleasure they’ve ever known?
Henrietta Harding was born in Atlanta, but she moved to Europe with her parents at the age of 7. She fell in love with France, and especially Paris, a city that inspired and continues to inspire her a lot.
No one is born a romance writer, but she got a good start. She has been writing since she was 4 years old; while other children had just started talking more fluently she had already written her first poem! She studied French literature at the University of Strasbourg where she met her husband during her second year in college.
Henrietta makes her home in Boston where she spends her time writing her own enchanting historical romances, and chasing around her dog for long hours, without even noticing. She truly believes the most perfect heroes and heroines are imperfect, and she rather enjoys torturing them before giving them a well deserved happily ever after!
Anyone who know the true English hierarchy knows that 99% of this story is unreal. The story itself would be alright if Seth had been cast as a regular, although rich, businessman. The town frowns down on the working class. A duke is never treated commonly, he or her are always addressed as your grace. Seth would not be a duke if his father were alive. He would be a marques. Abigail George is a little spoiled for my taste. She just turned 22 and her parents, like most ton parents in this time, want her to get married. Abigail doesn't want that but she needs to find a solution before her parents get her betrothed to someone of THEIR choice. So Abigail decides to find a gentleman that has his own reputation problems to help destroy her reputation, just a little, to give her some breathing room till she's ready to become betrothed on her own terms.
After discussing her scheme with her cousin and closest friend, Tabitha, they create a list, a really short list, if suitable males. Tabitha mention one of her neighbors has a son that just might fit that requirement. So Abigail and Tabitha decide to set up an "accidental" meeting. I know, what could go wrong?
The gentleman in question, Seth Nicholson, is a Duke that is having problems with his parents because he likes to party too much, like most guys in their mid twenties do. They leave him alone one of their estate but make it clear that he needs stop partying and clean up his act so that he can find a suitable woman to marry. What is it with all the parents wanting their kids to get married and have kids of their own so that the entire process could be repeated generation after generation.
So Abigail and Seth meet and now the fun really starts for the two misfits. There are many roadblocks, and plotlines, that our potential lovebirds have to go through. Not to mention the fact that they both need to grow up. I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
I received an ARC of this book to read and give an honest review. In addition, I purchased a digital copy of the published book when it became available.
🌟🌟ONE THRILLING ADVENTURE🌟🌟 Brilliant! Henrietta has thrown out yet another masterpiece, with this thrilling little jewel, keep the smelling sauce handy, cause a bad case of vapors will rock your world as you devour this heart pounding, pulse racing, block busting wonder, unfolding contents blasts this baby to life spectacularly. Annoying mishaps and dubious events, swirl with the formidable trials and heartfelt triumphs, spinning alongside the daunting twists and intricate turns, wrapping this gem up sleek shiny and tight. Kinked, tangled and tightly banded, baring the crazy quirks and defying bents, putting our characters through their paces, testing them in ways they could have never envisioned. Restrictions are heightened and amplified, unmasking the frivolous facts, fiery feels and freeing fiascos, kicking this gem into the eye of the storm, kicking it into a frenzy with a life changing culmination. The attraction and chemistry collides with such intensity, exposing profound emotions, drawing our characters closer, binding them to one another beautifully. The characters, interactions and charged atmosphere along with relatable qualities and individual traits, adding depth and diversity, transforming into outstanding personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions, as to give you a full understanding and realism that flows smoothly. Amazing job Henrietta, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Abigail is a spoiled, immature, very unladylike 22-year-old. Unusual for these times, she is still being allowed to act like a child and refuse all suitors. Seth has a terrible reputation, but cares little for it. There are a few things that ruin this story. The first is that, had Seth been a Duke, his father would not still be alive, and everyone would have bowed and scraped to 'His Grace', no matter what he did. He is referred to by Christian name or surname, never by his title, which would have been a social faux par. There is a lot of modern language throughout that is distracting, such as 'meeting at yours/ours'. This phrase is modern millennium and inappropriate for any other era. There are others I won't mention. The behaviour of this couple is not only scandalous, but highly unlikely. No reasonably well-bred young lady would dare step so far out of proper expectations. The story could have had the general core without overstepping the bounds of the time. It's a good read if you ignore the historical discrepancies and take it at face value. I gave it 4 stars for the basic storyline and entertainment factor.
Abigail was a "Diva" and a spoiled brat. Being the youngest child of three her parents gave her freedom. Unfortunately when she was old enough to marry she decides that she wants to keep her freedom. Seth is the typical "bad boy" with a bad reputation. Her plan to use him to ruin her reputation backfires because she fell in love with him. Her relationship with Tabitha was borderline lesbian because they were all over one another. The book was kind of slow sometimes because it took to long for Seth and Abigail to confess their love. What happened to Walter? The theme was common, but Abigail was too immature.
This is another brilliantly written story, that has a plot full of emotional moments. The characters are portrayed wonderfully, and the heroin as a very strong character. The extended epilogue as usual completes the characters story's beautifully. This book would suit anyone who loves steamy historical romances that have plenty of twists and turns. I read an ARC copy.
Private Affairs of a Wicked Duke A Historical Regency Romance Book
This is another very good story by this author about a young woman that thinks she is adverse to marriage Abigail George develops a scheme with Seth Nicholson a Duke but it backfires and they fall in love There are many twists and turns but love wins The plot is a very good one and the characters are realistic and charming and the extended epilogue completed the story A enjoyable read
Entertaining and well written story. Her parents want her married and his wants him to stop his wild ways. She thinks getting with him will get her out of marriage and he thinks she is beautiful and feisty and wants her in his bed. What a pair of people they are. Exciting, emotional, suspenseful, fun and recommended. Very well written read. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
Love in a sizzling summer! Abigail does not want to marry of course her parent do and so they set out to find a suitable match. Abigail is doing the same expect she is looking for a truly unsuitable gentleman with the hopes to ruin her reputation. Oh, but fate has some unexpected goodies up its sleeve. The plot in this book is good and the characters are realistic I was completely charmed by them. I hope you check it out.
I liked this book a lot. But Abigail made it hard for me to like her fully. For me she's a bully to her friend & family. Getting closer to the end it seems she matured a lot. Seth he's smooth, that's all I can really say about him. They chemistry between them is wonderful! Wasn't rushed and you see how the start to develop feelings. I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I found Abigail's pontificating to be a little vexing. Even though Henrietta did a good job varying how it was said I found it trying my patience a little along with the bad grammar. I Loved the plot of the story and how everything finally worked for a wonderful love story!
I enjoyed this book and I felt the characters were well developed. It appeared that Abigail was a bit of a brat in the beginning, she didn’t seem to think twice about hurting someone’s feelings. That was part of her charm also. Seth and Abigail had a relationship that was riddled with many emotions and lots of ups and downs.
This particular novel should have been at least 100 pages shorter. The characters were certainly unique but very sarcastic and not very nice to other people. I never understood their attraction to each other.
Henrietta Harding as wrote another great story, lots of adventures ,and forbidden love in this heart warming story between a young lady who doesn't want to marry and a young man with not do good reputation. Thank you ❤
Does this take place in the Regency era? It feels more like the early 1900’s. The foxtrot was not known in the regency era and some of the language was more in keeping with the Victorian era. The story was well set out and had a great message about independence of women in this era.

I loved the plot the characters and the inevitable attraction between the two hero & heroine that paved the way for hot steamy explicit romantic sex and the deep love that conquered both.
Great read of a young Lady that her parents were forcing into a arranged marriage.Stubborn and courage’s and determined not to go through with it by disgracing herself to the Ton.throughly enjoyed this story.
For the heroine Abigail to protest so much she was very wicked in her dealing with Seth. I enjoyed reading this book. It did not run a topic to death as some books do.
Wow! They are more alike than I initially thought. Initial intentions might have been way different but did they prove to be such a perfect match for the other.
Loved the story with a strong female main character. Didn’t think Seth acted very dukely. Abigail was much stronger and finally knew what she wanted and went after it.
I finished this book a little while ago and I was disappointed as it was too much like "A Wicked Duke's Prize", even with that fact it was not that bad.
