Rate this book
It’s only when attorney Frank Connor is falsely accused of murder that he realizes everything he’s believed in is a lie. Twenty years ago, as a young lawyer, Frank unsuccessfully defended Tyrell Sikes on rape and murder charges. Sikes spent nineteen years on Death Row before being freed because his DNA didn’t match the semen and tissue samples. Armed with the proceeds of a $10 million settlement for wrongful conviction, Sikes is now bent on exacting revenge against the people he holds responsible for his imprisonment, including his former lawyer. So when Sikes is found floating in Turtle Bayou with a two bullet holes in the back of his head, Frank’s the natural suspect.

A well-crafted mystery suspense...

Author CD Wilsher weaves a first-class murder mystery with intriguing twists and turns that will easily captivate the reader’s attention from the beginning. The author paints a compelling and fast-paced whodunit in a very vivid and convincing way. In addition, the characters are drawn with great credibility and conviction. It’s a mystery that will keep you engaged from the first page to the last.

I enjoyed the story, character development, and dialogue. There were plenty of plot twists that I didn’t see coming and that added to the book’s mystique. When I stopped reading to work, I found myself wondering what happened in the book, and replaying parts of the novel in my head to see if I could figure more out. It has been a while since I enjoyed a book this much. It’s a first-class whodunit with perfect pacing. Not much is as it appears here, which is just the way fans of mystery, thriller and suspense will want it.

I’ll be looking forward to reading more from CD Wilsher in the future. I would highly recommend this book to all fans of mystery, thriller and suspense. A well-deserved five stars from me.

Author CD Wilsher tells the story of Frank Connor, an attorney who is suddenly accused of murder. Confused at first, Connor discovers that this false accusation is based on a former client of his. Over two decades ago, Connor tried to defend Tyrell Sikes who was sent to Death Row on murder and rape charges. Despite his efforts, Sikes was not acquitted until many years later when it was discovered his DNA didn’t match the current evidence. When Sikes is released, he is angry, especially at Connor, and looks to get revenge. However, Sikes is later found dead floating in nearby Turtle Bayou and Connor becomes the prime suspect. He must work quickly to clear his name before it’s too late.

If you enjoy mysteries and suspense novels, definitely check this one out. Not only is it filled with well-developed characters, but plenty of plot twists that will shock you.

A truly thrilling political thriller that is also a mystery. The author’s legal background lends a credibility to the work that keeps the story grounded. There are twists, turns, and surprises right up to the last page.
The idea of a burnt out country lawyer with money problems seems a bit cliché, however author Wilsher gives it a new twist as we see the fall from grace our protagonists faces. A single bounced check knocks him off course and a tapestry of self deceit crumbles. He soon discovers that neither he, nor most of the people he knew, were what he thought they were. He is forced on this painful journey of self discovery as he desperately tries to stay out of jail while righting an old wrong.
This an interesting, if cynical, look at the forces behind power and what some will do to maintain that power. A good read that I recommend.

I was gifted a copy of this novel in return for an honest review.

I enjoyed this novel very much. A few of the characters, like Tyrel Sikes, Frank Connor, and the sheriff, were particularly memorable and well described. Even the name Tyrel Sikes evokes an image that, while possibly racist, is a powerful picture of an African-American with beefed up biceps, tattoos and possibly piercings. Frank is a country defense attorney in Texas without a lot of friends or clients. In fact, his business is in financial jeopardy. Some of the minor characters played, in the end, key elements in the story, which is full of twists and turns.

In summary, Frank Conner was appointed 20 years earlier to defend Tyrel Sikes against the murder of a young, attractive white woman. Forensic evidence was recovered from the crime scene, which appeared to implicate Tyrel. Twenty years later, DNA testing absolved him of the crime and he was released. Now, he has come to Baugh county to seek revenge on the defense attorney who represented him in the original trial, Frank Conner. Thus, the story begins.

Sikes is killed and Conner becomes the major suspect. Most of the remainder of the novel details the efforts of Conner to uncover the mystery and find the "real" killers of the girl, Sikes, and someone else. Eventually he succeeds, and the conspiracy is deeper than anyone could imagine. Plenty of twists and turns.

The setting in the rural South is reminiscent of John Grisham novels. I think that this author has a lot of potential, and I look forward to reading his next novel.

A book doesn’t often demand attention with such authority as C.D. Wilsher’s “A Tissue of Lies” does. This masterpiece has all the elements one would expect from a mystery/thriller novel. It revolves around Frank Connor, a man that is accused of a crime he didn’t commit. The story takes a dramatic turn when Tyrell Sikes gets out of prison after nineteen years and he wants to wreak revenge against the people responsible of his imprisonment; Frank is one of them as he was Tyrell’s lawyer.
For those who are on the search of a thrilling and suspenseful novel, this is definitely one to check out. Wilsher includes incredible plot twists that will surely shock you. In addition to this, you’ll find many well-developed characters that help to make this story even more enjoyable to read.
This book contains 50 chapters. Each one is more exciting than the last one and all of them will make you bite your nails.
If you are ready for the travel that will take you on an exciting adventure, be sure not to miss out on this one! I am certainly looking forward to more from this very talented author.

An intriguing novel with an absorbing plot.

I was kept at the edge on my seat when I started reading: “A Tissue of Lies”. This book tells us a good story, actually a good case to solve. The author of this intriguing book is CD Wilsher.
Frank Connor, an important attorney, is immersed in a lie and because of that he must proof that people around him are mistaken. Apart from that, his past condemns him, so he must fight with her present and his past.
To be perfectly honest, it was a novel that I read with all my attention since there were a lot of details that I needed to remember so as to understand the plot. But, it was very captivating and I liked the way everything was described in the book. Unanswered questions, betrayals, and lies are part of the characters´ lives who are well-developed and complex. In a nutshell, I thoroughly recommend it to avid readers of suspense.

The first thing that caught my attention of this book was its cover. Then I read the blurb and I knew that this was the book I was looking for. “A Tissue of Lies” is a thought-provoking book written by CD Wilsher.

This novel tells the story of Frank Connor, who is falsely accused of committed murder. He realizes that everything he knows is a lie. Twenty years ago, he unsuccessfully defended Tyrell Sikes from committed homicide, and now Sikes is preparing his revenge.

This book contains fifty chapters full of intrigue and mystery. All of them leave you breathless and you don’t know what to expect. The dialogues are very realistic and this makes it easy to be inside the story.

All in all, I would definitely recommend reading it. It’s an easy read and I would say it’s perfect for taking on holidays. It would make a really good film, because it is such an exciting story that I would be really glad to watch.

I thought this was a very entertaining book with an enjoyable amount of twists and turns from beginning to end. I liked that the author put in multiple mysteries in this story for the reader to attempt to figure out as not only was I trying to solve each one but I was also trying to figure out how each mystery was connected to the other. I also liked the main character, Frank, because he was a great underdog to cheer for throughout the story as he fought to clear his name as he was being accused of several horrible crimes. It was fun to follow along with Frank while he was attempting to complete his investigation of who actually committed these crimes especially with all of the obstacles he ran into along the way. I really enjoyed reading this book as it kept my interest from the very beginning and I never wanted to put it down after that. I hope to read more books by this author.

One thing is for sure, questions are going to get piled up throughout this crime novel. And that was all I needed to immerse myself in this captivating story. Frank is a criminal lawyer who defended Sikes in a murder case in which his client was found guilty. From that on, things will get messy and turbulent around here. Sikes was in his 19 years imprisoning when evidence showed his innocent because of some DNA samples that didn’t match him. Once he is out, he will seek revenge.

I like the style CD Wilsher has in this book. I very much enjoyed the growth of the characters' personalities and their role in the novel. The mystery builds up from the beginning making this crime-story very appealing to all fans of this genre. And if you are not into this type of readings, give Tissues of Lies a chance. I assure you; you won’t regret it.

What would you do if you are accused of a murder that you did not commit? How far would you go to prove your innocence?

This is the story of Frank Connor, a lawyer who is accused of a murder. Years ago Frank was the lawyer of Tyrell Sikes, who was in jail for nineteen years, accused of rape and murder. Frank's efforts to keep Tyrell out of prison were unsuccessful. When Tyrell appears dead with two bullets in his body, the prime suspect is Frank.

Influenced by great writers like Hemingway, Elmore Leonard, Donald Westlake, and Stephen King, Christopher D Wilsher is the author of “A Tissue of Lies”.

What struck me the most was the way Christopher described the plot. The descriptions of the places, the streets, make you navigate the story, as if you were part of it. In my view, these are details that make one want to continue reading and enjoying a good book.

What first caught my attention of this novel was its cover and once I started reading it I could not stop. “A Tissue of Lies” is a book written by CD Wilsher. It is a middle length book that has less than three hundred pages; it is a perfect weekend read.
It is the story of an attorney falsely accused of a crime. At that moment is when Frank realizes that he has believed in a lie all this time. The writer did a great job portraying characters and developing the plot in a smooth way that attracted me from the first until the last page. There are some twists that got me reading at the edge of my seat. I would surely recommend reading this novel. It is a must! I would like to keep on reading more works of this author.

A Real Puzzler

This book started a little slow but just kept getting better. The characters were very realistic and the interactions intense. The suspense grew right up to the end. I found the style of writing easy to read, yet a wealth of information was passed. The main character was a true everyman, not a superhero. I found it easy to identify with him and understand his actions.

Okay.

Probably a pretty good book. Just too many people and too many options and too many twists and turns. I just didn’t care about anybody or who did what to who.
