Prisoners of Nightstone #2

Incantations and Inmates

Rate this book
A girl on the run should never fall in love with her bounty hunter. A witch should never fall in love, period.

But I did, and now I’m paying for my sins in Nightstone. I’m also committing all-new sins with a sexy alpha wolf and one delectable alpha vampire.

It’s unheard of: two alphas from two different factions, falling in love with one woman. Our relationship has brought new peace when everyone expected a turf war.

Except...someone needs that war between my two alpha males. Bodies are turning up in Nightstone. The vamps and the shifters crave vengeance from each other, and if their alphas won’t give it to them, they’ll wash Nightstone with blood anyway.

On top of that, that sexy jerk of a bounty hunter just swaggered into Nightstone, and everyone wants to kill him. Including me. Most of the time. His gaze still sets my blood on fire, and sometimes, I want the man to live long enough to grovel.

Can I find a way to keep peace between the factions--and between these two alpha males in my bed--and to save my bounty hunter’s life?

Like the first book in this series, I enjoyed this DESPITE the reverse harem. I'm not a big RH reader, but I do enjoy some erotica and so if the rest of the plot and characters are good enough a RH works for me. So far, this series is living up to those requirements.

I think it's the paranormal world that's really working for me. This book answered some lingering questions I had about the world and filled in more of the picture. Personally, I'd love to see some stories set in this world without the RH taking up so much space, because it's fascinating! I really like Nas - she's coming into her abilities more and that's making her into an actual threat to be reckoned with. Before she was clever and crafty, now she's a bit of a bad ass.

As for the guys... meh. They're your standard alphas... A shifter Alpha, A vampire alpha (that's a new one for me), and then you're standard Alpha human male. They're protective and controlling, but also sensitive and gentle. Ya know, imaginary lol! I like them much more when thinking about their roles in the plot than in their relationship with Nas. That said, some of the sexy times got fairly steamy and if you're a RH fan, you will probably really enjoy them!

I like the narrators for this series. They complement each other well. My one complaint would be that the male narrator doesn't do much (if anything) to differentiate the voices of the men and since the story is told from each of their perspectives at different times, that could get confusing. If I paused mid-chapter I had to to think to know who's POV I was listening to when I would resume. Otherwise, though, they have appropriately deep and sexy voices :)

This is a fantastic second book! The writing between these two authors is seamless and the storyline so so addictive and full of action, danger, excitement, betrayal, death and let’s not leave out the why choose romance! I absolutely love Nas who is not only caring but totally kicks ass as a well and as for her guys well, a Wolf, a vampire and a bounty hunter, talk about hot! Tons of intense feelings going around as well as danger, more threats and turmoil, I cannot wait to see how it all wraps up in the next book! Just awesome!

These two authors Helen Scott and May Dawson are such a dynamic writing team. This series is full of action with intense twists and an unusual storyline. It has definitely kept me interested and needing more.

Nas, who is a seer, is becoming strong and capable. She is really coming into her own. The alphas Christian, Ambrose and Bane are just so intense and Alpha! I love it!! I really enjoy how they are really becoming a unit. It is nice to see their progression. I am really looking forward to see how Nas grows more.

Entertaining

There are some inconsistencies in book 2. One that I can recall right away is that some of the names from book 1 were completely different in book 2 and left me in a weird place trying to make connections.

There is also the huge moment where the alpha shifter is challenged for his position, poisoned and dragged away while his mate stepped and defeated the challenger only to never have a discussion between them (or anyone else) about it at all like it was a completely insignificant event. If it was meant to be that way, then okay, but it really felt more like a disconnect in the book rather than purposefully written to mean nothing.

The story continues to be entertaining enough that I'm reading on to book 3 to find out their fates but at this point I think it'll be a skim rather than a deep concentration read if it continues on as rushed and disconnected pieces like book 2.

I love the combination of May Dawson and Helen Scott! This second book is even better than book one! I love how strong and fearless Nas becomes in this book and wow what an ending...it left me yelling for book three. Christian, Ambrose and Bane are so intense and alpha in this book but I love how they declare and project their feeling for Nas...they really demonstrate a vulnerability with her bit with her bringing them together it makes them all stronger in the long run. I can see Nad us going to be even stronger and become empowered in book three and I cannot wait. This is a book that I had to read in on sitting, the pages were flicking so quickly I was shocked when I was finished. It is intense, unique, full of action and twists and turns, lots of steamy scenes. Highly recommended series by two very talented authors...bring on book three!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "INCANTATIONS & INMATES" Helen Scott & May Dawson did a excellent job writing this book full of intense drama, action, intrigue, secrets, twists that have turning page after page.
Nas is a Seer she's coming into her powers she can see the future her three gorgeous Alpha males Christian, Ambrose, & Bane a Vampire, Shifter & Bounty Hunter their so intense I love how they demonstrate their feelings to Nas their much stronger together.
I definitely recommend to get this book what goes on at Nighstone Prison secrets revealed Nas ends up having to save one of the three men she loves.
I so can't wait for the next book to finally see what's going to happen to them all it can't come soon enough so we'll worth the read with great interesting characters that pull you right in.

This is a very dark, violent book, full of pain and suffering, snark, and put-downs from and to most of the characters. Only the hot, explicit sex is pleasurable, and that intensely so. Watch the changes in the point of view.
Book 2 picks up shortly after Book 1. It's best to read it first so you know what's been happening, who the main players are, and how they got into this situation. We find out why Ambrose and Christian are in Nightstone, then why Bane is. Constant threats, danger, and brutal fights are interspersed among hot scenes of sex as Bane, Christian, and Ambrose must cooperate to protect Nasima and enjoy her female charms. There is a big change coming. The book speeds to another cliffhanger as all inmates are threatened with extinction if Nas can't figure out how to prevent it after she figures out how to prevent her and Bane's execution.

Can’t a witch get a good night’s rest?

Well my goodness!!

Bane’s arrival in Nightstone has definitely riled things up. His treatment of Nas is making it hard for her and got Christian and Ambrose itching to help Bane remember his humanity. Toss in dissection among the shifters and vampires and Nas’ visions kicking it up? Things are about to get hinky!

Helen Scott and Mae Dawson have given readers a second installment of Prisoners of Nightstone that ramps up the action, answers some questions and leaves readers aching after the ending. The wrap-up to the series should prove to be the best book of a great series.

This book involves mystery, drama and magic work. This book is about Nas growing as a witch and learning not to run from the power that she has been suppressing most of her life. She tries to grow as a person trying to make sure that the relationship, she has with them doesn’t make them appear weaker in front of their people. She knows that she must prove herself in order to help them avoid fighting to keep their spot as Alpha. Risking her life to help them enforces the feelings that she has for them all. She also tries her hardest to prevent the two factions from going to war after someone tries to pin crimes on other individuals.

4 stars for Nasima and her guys

After Nasima bonded to Christian and Ambrose in Nightstone, Bane also arrives there.

While the first book was fairly structured and there were some villains to fight against, in the second book, the danger grew, the number of villains grew and the whole prison hirarchy starts to fall apart.

I tried to stay excited all rough the second part of the story. But here and there my mind drifted with all the action squeezed into the story. There are quite a few hotty times. Some totally had me invested and I enjoyed them, others were over the top in my opinion. I take a small break but want to know the rest of the story.

Put everyone on notice

Nasima, a seer, finds herself in another predicament; one that involves saving the life of one of the three men she loves. As the story progresses secrets of the prison are revealed, her strength is finally shown, and her visions show she may not be enough to save them. Helen Scott and May Dawson have put everyone on notice in this prison themed why choose romance read. I look forward to seeing how they conclude the story in the next book.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Seer/Witch Nasima (FMC) starts showing her true colours in this book by growing in confidence and becoming more kick***. She takes on a backstabbing wolf instead of Ambrose (wolf) in a challenge for Alpha amongst other things. There is unrest in Nightstone and at the heart of it are the Vampires and the Wolves. With Nas, Ambrose and Christian stuck in the middle of it all. As well as Bounty Hunter - Bane who seems to be attracting trouble himself. This book is so fast paced its hard to keep up with it but its so worth it because its a brilliant read

One Amazing Story!!!!!!

What a story this has become. It packed full of action, drama, suspense and you even get love thrown in. It is extremely well written and the flow between these two amazing authors is fantastic. You can barely tell when one other takes over. I love Nas and her caring heart. But, she is tough and kicks butt too. Then you have her guys that are protective and strong. This series just keeps getting better and better. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next. This honestly would make a fantastic movie that I would love to watch. It is most definitely worth reading and doesn’t disappoint. It is a must read.

This book is fantastic From the very first page to the last i was Hooked.

Incantations has it all Romance fueds love Hate and murder which Helen and May deliver flawlessly , although there is so much going on in this book it flows really well right up to the cliff hanger ending.

Nas really grows in this book much to the delight of Ambrose Christian and Bane she proves to herself and every one else that she would do anything for the men she loves and that she is worthy of all 3 Alphas.

I can not wait for the final book in this fantastic series

Errors

Well this book was even more rushed than the first one. The number of typos was astounding, especially considering that there are two authors. How did they both miss all the typos? Though the two authors might explain the inconsistencies in the details. Two characters names changed completely from book one. Doc changed form having studied at Yale to Harvard in this book. No power in the prison meant no water for showers, until they were all taking showers. There's probably an interesting plot in there somewhere but it's hard to find it under all the errors.

I stand by my opinion that these books could have been condensed down to a single book. This one is a lot more action packed than the last book, but there's still a bit of fluff that could have cut it down. I would have liked Nasima to bit a little bit tougher. She was constantly on the run from law enforcement, and was sneaky. I feel like that aspect of her character has completely gone since going to prison, she's a bit too submissive to the men for me and is just constantly nearly dying. The men do feel a bit generic now.

This second book was even better than the first book and I highly recommend it! Nasima is still locked up with her two guys when an ex, the bounty hunter that actually put her in prison, is sent there...even though he's human. Nasima knows that something is up, especially when she keeps having visions of him dying. This is a great book with some surprises, especially as secrets are revealed. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

Ohmygosh that was fantastic!

I feel like I just went on a crazy ride reading that book, and I’m not really sure what to do with myself now that it is over. Fast paced, intense, action packed, and amazing. This is not just another paranormal prison book! I CANNOT WAIT for book 3 to come out! I need more Bane, Ambrose, and Christian in my life ASAP. These alpha men are the perfect mixture of tough and sweet, and are great for Nasima.

This book kept me reading from the moment that I started on the first page all the way till the end. It moves along at a great pace, making for an easy read. The characters are so real that you feel like you know them and no matter what happens you want to be there for them. The story will grab you and keep you reading till the end and then you want more. This is a book that must be read, you will not be sorry that you did.

And the excitement continues...
Nasima sits in prison, but whoever said that was boring? One electric event leads to the next. High paced and exciting, this follows the next step in her adventure, where Bane is now an inmate and under constant threat. The alpha vampire and the alpha wolf are hard-pressed to keep Nasima safe.
Once again, leading towards the 3rd and last book in this trilogy, we are left panting for more on a cliffhanger, which I did not see coming.

It's getting better and better

The storyline is getting more intriguing.

We have our little seer being a bad@ss and killing guards, Bane has stopped being an arrogant @ss, well as much as Bane can and Ambrose and Christian are their usual delectable selves.

I still want to know why the black guard that sent Bane to Nightstone and why he wants him to kill the Warden... for what purpose?

I am straight onto book three as that ending... I need answers.

The second book of this series is absolutely fantastic! It picks up where the last left off seamlessly and I love when series do that. There are so many twists and turns that develop that it keeps you engrossed in what you are reading until the last words. When it ends, you don't want it to. This series is phenomenal and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Incantations and Inmates - Wowsa

Book 2 is amazing. Being stuck in prison and making a life sure is hard when it is full of supernaturals and everyone suspects you of nefarious plans. Nas is always stuck in the middle of something and trying to survive and wow every event is captivating. Well written and highly enjoyable. Definitely a must read.

The second book ramped it up for me. I loved watch nas grow so much in this book. She really grew a backbone and became such a kick butt lead female for me. I fell for the guys even more and how they really loved their mate. The book ended on a cliffhanger but such a delicious one I can’t wait for book 3. Oh it’s going to be good!!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

These two authors really know how to write a fantastic book! Nas is really coming into her own by this point though there are still a few bumps in the road. This is especially obvious as she realizes that her men come with a whole different set of things that she needs to be able to do in order to keep the factions happy. It just gets harder when insiders decide to stir things up in unexpected ways leading to one mind blowing fight. I cannot wait to see what happens next with this group as they try to stay alive inside the prison walls. A total must read that I totally loved so I give it 5/5 stars.
