Trevor Arcwin, now known as Des Boxster, takes his little group of Soldiers of Fortune across the border into Viksar. After taking a job finding a stolen statue, Des finds completing the task is more difficult than he expects as he must expand his group to find the perpetrators. In the process, Des gets involved in graft, kidnapping, and murder as his investigation takes him all the way to the summit of the city’s power structure.
I write action/adventure fiction with a definite proclivity towards Sword & Sorcery. I like magicians, but I'm less partial to unicorns, dragons, elves and dwarves. But give me a hero with a magic sword and I'll make him sing... Wait, I already have!
I've published a number of works under the CasiePress imprint and there are more to come.
I'm an older guy (Guy!), married and all my kids have grown up and given me grandkids to dote over. I've read thousands of books and found that in most cases, I'd rather write than read.
A life of adventure does not mean you get to choose what kind
A prince of a stolen kingdom flees his home country trying to avoid his Sister's assassins, straight from one where magic is banned to one where only strong magicians rule.
Here the main character tries to take a breath and find his feet as a sword for hire, life is not so nice as to let him stand easy.
This is no high adventure, jumping from rooftops escape, instead its dirty infighting with murky political undertows in a town and local assassins.
Another enjoyable read with characters that think, need to recover, have cross purposes and wants.
Prince Treavor (Des) has been tasked with recovering a stolen statue of a dog, which weighs several hundred pounds. To solve the mystery, Des and his team must determine how the thieves managed to remove the heavy statue from the soft ground, as well as identify the culprits and their motives. The investigation involves elements of betrayal, politics, sword fighting, magic, jousting, and suspense. Readers can expect an engaging narrative filled with action, humor, intrigue, and romance, leaving them eager for the next installment in the series.
One dimensional and no character depth. Story was terrible and the constant mishaps make it a completely unreal story. Author has not made any effort apart from Banal meandering through a series of silly mishaps. Zero emotion in the whole story. Terrible
I love Guy’s books but this book was humdrum. I think the problem was the flow between the characters it didn’t seem natural. Otherwise the story is kind of interesting but the plot feels too contrived
Marvelous characters, good action. An awful lot of running around, sound and fury. Question? What about the books in the basement? Did she sell them or take them with her? I must have missed that part. Good story, though.
This is a good story. That drags. Not enough description for the fight scenes. Plenty of extraneous dialogue. And I hate that the main character is now called Des Boxter
