Sentenced to servitude.

Ella

This isn’t how I expected my life to turn out. All I’ve ever wanted was to do the right thing but now I’ve been shipped off-world to an alien planet and sold. Stuck doing the dirtiest jobs of my master’s house.

Hope is the farthest thing from my mind, but still it glimmers. The faint light of that timeless idea that maybe, one day, my prince will come.

Caius

If I don’t marry soon my kingdom will be thrust into war. Simple enough, marry someone, produce an heir. Problem solved.

But I don’t want just someone. I want the one. The one who makes my heart soar. The one who lights the fires of passion. If only I can find her before my father forces me into a loveless arrangement for the good of our people.

And in one magical moment, I find her. Ella.

Except I can’t possibly have her. She’s a servant, a slave. To marry her would throw everything into chaos but her grip on my heart won’t let go. Somehow, I have to make this work.

She will be my princess.

This is a cute alien romance, with an interesting update on the Cinderella fairy tale. I found it entertaining, but as is typical with most novellas, thought that it was just too short to have enough character development. I wanted more backstory on both Ella and Caius. It gets 3 stars from me.

There were some minor editing errors, and parts of the story were a bit confusing. I think the confusion was probably caused by the short length of the story, since it seemed like important information got left out a few times.

My rating system is below.
1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it.
2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws.
3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating.
4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one.
5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.

Taken from her home and sold into slavery to save her father, Ella maintains a positive outlook in spite of cruel treatment at the hands of her mistress. She is in turns feisty, outspoken, kind and caring.

Caius is being pressured to marry so that he can carry on his family's royal line. None of the options he has been presented with can capture his attention or his heart. When he randomly meets Ella in the market place, he is immediately attracted to the witty little human. Knowing that her mistress will punish her rather than allow Caius to court her, she flees. He will not so easily let her go. She is the first woman to so completely entrance him.

This story is a modern, intergalactic retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale, filled with aliens and advanced technology rather than pumpkins and magic. The plotline closes resembles the fairy tale with a dash of mystery thrown into the mix. This is a fast-paced story with a strong female lead. I would have liked to see more of Ella and Caius' developing relationship, however. There seems to be a lot of focus on Caius's investigation, with little explanation of the driving reason for that effort. While it does eventually become clear, the subplot development seems just a bit slow and labored.

Three and half stars for this interstellar fairy tale.

This is another wonderful take on an old classic and it kept you wanting more until the very end. It had kidnappings, slavery, a touch of abuse, and some cruelty thrown in but in the end it’s a love story. Ella Eir is in trouble for trying to save her father from a beating that wasn’t justified but by law you cannot interfer and so she was sold into slavery/Servitude on another planet and it’s Elysian and now that she is brought and paid for her life is one big giant nightmare from her cruel Mistress and her two horrible daughters Pru and Pri. But while in town getting supplies she meets a very gorgeous alien man his name is Caius and they build a friendship but he wants more but doesn’t know how to make her his. Prince Caius has been investigating children going missing and has now been ordered to take a wife by his father and a ball will held and all he asked of his father was that he could choose anyone and he agreed, now he must save the children and get Ella to the ball, so the invitations where sent out to all women and that they must attend. How Caius has the chance to have Ella as his wife but life is never that simple and after the ball she races home but gets caught out by her evil mistress and Ella is sold off to an evil lord. Can the Prince save Ella and the children and have the HEA they all want.

All the best aspects of Cinderella without being a retelling...

This story beautifully walks the fine line that allows it to be its own story, pulling all the best, and most meaningful threads from Cinderella, but instead of being a retelling this weaves its on story, with unique subplots, unexpected twists, and turns that delight in the best possible way.

Ella is a human dealing not with evil step-family members (my least favorite part of the original), but facing indentured servitude among aliens in a Les Miserables worthy twist.

Caius is an Alien Prince along the lines of the Prince in the movie Ever After... one who learns lessons, faces frustrations that equate to White Privilege but are presented as Royal Privilege, and as we get to know him, we discover he is looking for a woman with depth, who will challenge him in all the right ways.

This done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read is incredible... it took out my pet peeves with Cinderella's story, added layers and nuances, and delivered more than I dated hope for.

This was a delightful sci-fi take on the Cinderella story. Ella is a wonderful, always hopeful, strong young lady who is sold into slavery. She never seems to lose her positive attitude, even when things look bleak and she is being treated badly by those who own her.

With Caius, we have a caring, kind man who needs to find his Queen or he will be forced into an arranged married. It is his duty to carry on the royal line, but he wants love in his life, not simply duty. In the market place, he meets Ella and wants her to be his. She absolutely wins his heart. Will he be able to woo her? Will he be able to free her from her cruel owner? Or is there no hope for a HEA in their story?

I thoroughly enjoyed this clever twist. The main characters will win your heart and the story line is perfectly-paced for your enjoyment. Grab your copy and see whether there is hope for Ella and Caius to find their happiness.

Sci-Fi Cinderella and Her Alien Prince

I enjoy retellings and reimaginings of classic fairy tales, and this one with its sci-fi elements certainly intrigued me when I saw it at one of my favorite book review sites. I thought the beginning was a bit more telling than showing, piling on the backstory for both main characters instead of just rolling it out naturally as the story progressed. I did like the spins that the author put on the story, like making Ella an indentured servant on an alien planet and having the prince be an alien one who is being hounded by his family to marry and secure the line by siring an heir. I wanted to see a little bit more of the couple's romantic arc, as it felt a little light. The couple didn't have as much screen time together as I would have liked. But, all in all, I thought it was a fun twist on a classic tale.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Ella was sentenced to indentured servitude on a distant planet after fighting with law enforcement to protect her father. Bought by a cruel mistress, Ella manages to keep her kind and caring personality intact despite the abuse she suffered. Caius, the crown prince, is under pressure to marry although no one interests him. Then he spies Ella in the market and is immediately smitten. They begin a relationship made complicated by the fact that Ella did not know he was the prince and Caius didn’t know she was indentured. Both main characters were very likable and the mistress and her daughters made excellent evil stepmother and stepsister stand ins. I liked that this wasn't just another retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale. Obviously, it's different because of the science fiction aspects of it, but what I really mean is the mystery that the prince is working on and Ella's endeavors in trying to find her little friend Evie, who she said she'd look out for. These intrigues serve to add dimension and richness to Ella and Caius' characters. Great word building and a good story line that flowed well. All in all, I enjoyed it an found it to be a good read.

So a Cinderella retelling in space wow I was not expecting to like this but I very much did

So much so that I hope other fairytales are done by this author

It follows the same line of the original but has added depth with indentured servitude and space travel

The only gripe I have is that some complications in the story have no explanation beyond being there to make the story longer and make sense because without it the story would have been far shorter and not covered all the items the original does

This wonderfully written, SciFi Alien Romance was intriguing as it had some very well-thought out scenes and story plots. These characters have very strong wills and personalities and their interactions are believable. This wonderful story has the following: intrigue, twists and turns, adventure, action, danger, love, steam and a HEA. It is a fast-paced, good Alien Romance book that will keep you engaged from start to finish. I will be looking for more books by this author.

Story of Ella and Caius on another planet. The characters are fantastic and the backstories hold the story together with hope. Nothing gets Ella down as she is positive and out to do good and dream of her prince rescuing her. The prince needs someone special and not someone picked for him. Chance meetings, surprises and decisions made keep this story on edge so you can not put the book down. Always root for the underdog as they have the true strength.

This story is a fun play on the Cinderella tale. Ella is captured and sold into slavery trying to save her father. She's bought by a haughty, evil alien female to serve her and her equally horrible daughters. Caius, the handsome, kind, and caring prince is looking for a wife to be a helpmate and a love match. Yes there is a ball, yes there ia a lost slipper, but there is a whole lot more. The books is a well paced, page turner, full of action, and a few twists.
3 1/2 Stars from me.

Ella finds that her life is not going as planned. Shipped to an alien planet to be a servant/slave. She's bought by a miserly ugly alien woman and her two ugly as sin daughters. The prince, Clius, is looking for his soulmate and a love match. Like the fairy tale, there's a ball and a lost slipper but you[ll have to read to find out what else is lost. Well paced entertaining story with action and some twists and turns. Cinderella as a Sci-Fi story. Loved it. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a futuristic story of Cinderella. There was several major differences, one being Ella was indentured because she broke the law in defense of her father. The woman who bought her, along with her two daughters, was evil and cruel. The Prince, Caius, sees Ella in the market. A lot happens in this book. This is a fast read and if you like fairy tales and aliens, you will love this book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It was a fun read. Thank you. An enjoyable tale!

I enjoyed this paranormal version of the classic Cinderella with interesting characters and some twist that will have you on the edge of your seat. Ella finds herself in a particular situation but with her strength she gets through it and along the way finds the attention of Prince Caius. What happens next will have you remembering a romance read that can only have a HEA.

So what's a girl to do when forced into indentured servitude? Make the best of things, of course, and hope for prince charming to come to the rescue. This story is an interesting spin on the traditional Cinderella tale, with the setting taking place far into the future and on a planet other than Earth. A great example of how timeless traditional tales can be.

Think Cinderella is space, with a lot more action, adventure, danger, and excitement. Ella is principled, feisty, determined, and in trouble. Caius is determined, sincere, and a romantic at heart. Nothing about this couple seems destined to be, but Caius and Ella are fated. Delightful and entertaining, any fan of SciFi romance or fairy tales is sure to like this story! Happy Reading!!

I love reading all kinds of fairy tale retellings and I have to say this is the first one I have read that takes place in outer space, and the author did not disappoint. This is a retelling of one of the most famous fairy tales, Cinderella, but instead of magic, there are aliens and very advanced technology. It works. I loved it and it was definitely an original spin on an old classic.

Ugh, so juvenile

This dialogue is atrocious! Every time the prince opens his mouth, it's like a child playing an adult. His thoughts are nearly as bad.

Is this just his immature, capricious personality or the author's attempt to tap into the whimsy and youth of fairytale?!

Eventually it improves, or all the sneaking around distracts enough... The ending is satisfying.

This Cinderella retelling takes on a sci-fi and somewhat darker twist. Ella is human but soon finds herself a slave to an evil mistress and her two daughters on an alien planet. The prince isn’t just charming but also heroic, romantic and believes in helping others. The story has a few dark moments in how the slaves are treated. But this a fairytale so you can expect a happily ever after.

A typical Cinderella story but entertaining non the less. I would've liked to have seen the Mistress get a taste of her own medicine. My heart stared racing when I thought that Elle was going to be violated. The Prince came through in the of !.

I liked this story set in a fictional world. The paranormal aspects were intriguing but the main draw for me was the twisted tale of cinderella in space. I thought the author crafted a very interesting story and I enjoyed reading it.
