A Fairy Awesome Story #1

A Fairy Awesome Story

Rate this book
I thought I had years before I'd have to ascend to the Seelie throne, but all that went out the window when my Uncle Rowan decided to abdicate early. Ugh, I don't wanna! I mean I know I have no choice, but can't a girl have a little fun before she has to spend the rest of her life with a stick up her ass? Not to mention I'm a nymph and I haven't even lost my v-card yet. Yeah, a trip to Earth is a must. I'll have a little loose fun if ya know what I mean, and then I'll come back. I swear.

When Ell finds out she has one year before she'll have no choice but to ascend, she decides a little trip to Earth is in order. She finds herself working in a bar in a tiny little town in Texas where she meets Mr. Hottie McHotterson himself. Unfortunately, her sexcapade vaca goes sideways when she gets a new boss, and finds out the UnSeelie are plotting to kill her uncle.

A Fairy Awesome Story is a medium-burn RH. Ell collects men as she goes!

My husband and I live in Texas where we raise our three amazing, yet crazy boys.

Writing has been my passion since I was in my teens, but I was never able to commit to it full time until 2020.

In the past I had the opportunity to work as a newspaper columnist for two different newspapers, but my heart was always in fiction.

I have a fun, 6 book, complete series out now on Amazon, and also available at Walmart. Check out A Fairy Awesome Series.

Amazing from cover to cover...

I don't read a lot of reverse-harems, so when I received this book, I wasn't sure if I would like it or not. That worry ended on page 3. I was hooked. Actually, it might have started with the cover, and yes, I know I'm not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but look at it. It's awesome.

Ell is a Seelie Princess, and what I really loved about that, is the story surrounding fairies, how they came into existance, the difference between Seelie and UnSeelie, it was different than anything I'd read before. I didn't feel like I was reading the same old, YA Fairy Fantasy.

"Hearts flashed in my eyes" as her relationship develops with Blake (a human) and to say the sex scenes are steamy would be an understatement. And then the ending, well, I won't ruin it for you, but it's the perfect ending that left me begging for book #2.

Once again Ellie Aiden created an MC that is fun, funny, and loveable. And while I loved her other series, The Way, I have to admit, I think she found her niche with Fantasy Reverse-Harems.

I more than recommend this book. 5 stars, hands down!

DNF very early on...I guess I'm an outlier but I found this to be a Fairy Awful Story. Foul mouthed teenager with attitude is just not for me...maybe it got better but I just didn't have the time or inclination to invest. I would not recommend to my grandkids, or to anyone's kids for that matter.

I need to start off by stating that this is the first book of this genre that I have ever read. What genre is this? Well – fantasy, comedy, adult steamy romance with some fairy political intrigues – okay I’ll go with that.

The nearest thing I can place this for me is True Blood – the TV series. I didn’t read the highly popular southern vampire mysteries by Charlaine Harris (but my wife loved them). I really enjoyed the TV show – fantasy / horror, comedy, adult steamy romance with some mysteries and political intrigues. The difference with A Fairy Awesome Story is that I found the characters, especially the main protagonist Ell, a little annoying. Whereas Sookie was a kick-ass character.

Another aspect that I didn’t like was the writing style used – don’t get me wrong Ellie Adien is a good writer, just not the style for me. There were certain words that annoyed me in the book – like Meemaw and Peepaw just grated on me…and the whole Hottie McHotterson-ness – but I get it, it’s supposed to be funny, adorable, appealing to much younger people than me.

The story was okay and not too complex. The ‘steamy’ parts were well written and from other comments ‘hot’ seems to be the most descriptive word used. It was a quick read and if this genre is something you enjoy, I’m sure this will be a fun romp for you. Just not my type of beer and skittles.

Disclaimer: I have only read a little of this book so far but ...
I am honestly getting a fishy vibe from this book because this book has miraculously jumped to nearly all the top charts within quite a few major RH lists seemingly overnight. There seems to be the same nineteen to twenty-two people voting on this book and its sequels to bring them to the top of most of these lists who only seemed to have voted on this author's book and no other authors. Though this could be completely legitimate, the dramatic rise in popularity feels very off-putting and disingenuous.

I have not read quite enough of the book to establish a true opinion based on the book but from what I have read it could be a decent start. However, the main heroine currently seems entitled and childish. Honestly, please take this review with a pinch of salt but the tactics of bringing the popularity of this book were just off-putting, or else I would have waited longer to post.

3.6? First, I just wanna say that I’m extremely drawn to this cover!! It reminds me of undertale or mondealy. I’ve had my eye on this book for months because of it.

The tone just wasn’t right for me — I think if there had been like ~30 addtl pages that were more dark/deep where she grows her relationship with Blake and establishes an emotional connection with him before everything goes down, it would have been 4 stars. There needed to be a balance to the lighthearted humorous tone for the jokes to hit harder

Grab your wine, it's about to get HOT!

As we all know, I'm obsessed with helping self-published authors get the visibility they deserve. So, I had already stumbled across this author a few months ago. Her first series was great, and 5 stars for me, so when I saw she was releasing a Fantasy Reverse Harem, which is the polar opposite from her first series, I was a little nervous. That's a big jump for an author to make. Just a few pages in though, and I realized Ellie Aiden has found her calling.

Ell is a Seelie princess, who recently found out her uncle has decided to abdicate early, and since her mother was killed in a Seelie raid, Ell is next in line for the throne, and while she knows she'll eventually give in and ascend, right now she just wants to have fun. Insert "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"

Ell decides the best place to have said fun is none other than the Earth Realm. Her time on Earth is spent working a mundane job, which she loves, lusting after a human named Blake, and trying to thwart the UnSeelie plans of assassinating her uncle.

This novel is on the shorter side, but it's a fun, easy read. This is book one in a long running series, with several side stories in the works, and I couldn't be more excited. Ell is funny as hell, and her relationship with Blake is HOT HOT HOT What I love about this author, is all her novels always have a funny MC, and she's able to balance the comedy and drama seamlessly. Ellie also has a very unique writing style, in which the MC sometimes tears down the 4th wall, so to speak, and talks directly to the reader. Some may find that weird at first, but I loved it. It really made me feel like I was part of the story, and Ell and I were friends, as she told me all about the crazy shenanigans going on.

This is a reverse harem, with maximum steam, although be warned, this is a progressive RH. Ell picks up a new man/fairy in each book, so in book one it's just her developing a relationship with Blake. But don't let that deter you, because it's clear Ellie Aiden has a knack for writing some of the hottest adult content I've read in quite some time.

This was hands down an easy 5 star review for me. And I hope this book/series gets the exposure it deserves.

I didn't like it. I wanted to DNF from the first page. Fairy princess that wants to have fun before becoming queen. I know she was nineteen, but her lack of common sense baffled me, she was spoilt and had a me me me attitude. I felt sorry for Blake not knowing the truth. He'll be in for a shock when he finds out he's not her one and only.

FMC - Ell
Guys so far - Blake, book 2 Arion
Bad guys - Leprechaun Jim

This is such a great reverse harem book! I absolutely loved this story! This is such a fun romance story. Ell is a Seelie princess and just found out the king, her uncle, will be retiring and she has a year before she has to becomes queen. She decides to head to Earth for a vacation before she has to become all stuffy and queen-like. It was a cute story.

Ellie Aiden did it again! A Fairy Awesome Story is a read that I did not want to put down!

The MC, El, is hilarious, and I took an instant liking to her. I have not read a reverse-harem series before this book, but I am so excited to see where this series goes next! Can’t wait for book 2!

O.M.Gee, I loved this book! I was a little bit concered to read a book about fairies because there are so many books out with this topic but boy what was it good! I was hooked after the second chapter and couldn't stop reading.

Ell is Nymph that is destined to sit on the throne because of the Seelie mark that she has. Not wanting to lose some of the time she has left before she has to sit on the throne, she flees to Earth.

The perfect foundation to write an awesome story:
- Mythical creatures? Check.
- Some hot guy? Check.
- A lot of sass from our MC? Double check. Really, I loved Ell and her thoughts and sass a lot!

Ellie Aiden's take on fairies was different than I have ever seen before but I loved it. Especially the ending was so good! It make me want to read further. I can't wait for the second book in this awesome series!

DNF. 54% and no, this isn't something I would like to use my time. I didn't like characters (FMC was selfish, spoiled, annoying brat with wery stupid inner monology, other characters were just dull), I didn't like writing style, story was quite stupid and also very boring.

As the name suggests, this story is just awesome! I loved it and I am desperate to read the sequel as there are many things to be explained (to Blake and the readers too). If you are looking forward to have a walk to a new different world, this book is a must read. Thank you very much Ellie Aiden for creating an another fictional world, where I would travel every now and then (the fay) ;-P

This book is a bit outside my typical genre choice but I was pleasantly surprised. The fairy world and royal politics that the author created are interesting, and have me wanting to know what’s next for Ell. I’m a romance junkie, and the interactions between Ell and Blake had me smiling and wanting more. I like the mix of modern and magic, and Ell’s character is a blend of sarcasm and determination. My kind of girl.

*ARC copy in exchange for an honest review*

I was already intrigued by the title, and the book certainly didn't let me down! However, I'll try to incorporate some incoherent thoughts into a review.

Let's start with the few things I liked less. YES, less! I have absolutely no dislikes about this book!
1. Ell is sooo dramatic! At first, her thoughts felt a bit over the top. But, as you got to know her better, and got the feeling of how Southern America (I guess??) works, it clicks into place and you get to love her dramatic side!
2. How can you write THAT epilogue without giving us the second book immediately?

No seriously, I loved the book and I'm so curious to read the next adventure of Ell!

The book was fastpaced, especially in the second half when there was more action and you already knew all the characters. In addition, the characters are amazing! For example, Hottie McHotterson is also a kind and loving person. And Ell makes other friends as well during her time on earth! Little spoiler alert: I loved Meemaw and Peepaw!

So this is what happens when a fairy princess takes a gap year …

I obtained an ARC, of A Fairy Awesome Story, in return for an honest review. While I hardly considered that naughty fairy stories were my type of genre, Ellie Aiden has helped to make me a convert. The title is corny, as is some of the humour … and I love it. The plot is the equivalent of a fairy princess trying to escape for a gap year before she is forced to take on serious adult duties as queen. She wants to explore and enjoy herself first. The story itself is beautifully written, fun and steamy, and leaves you wanting more. Top marks!

Cue Nellys “it’s getting hot in herrrrrre.”
I was sent an ARC of this book - and I must say.. I need more!
It’s usually not anything I would read- and I absolutely love going out and trying a different genre of book.

You’ll follow the quirky life of Ell as she journeys to Earth to enjoy her last year of freedom before she takes over her reign as Queen when her Uncle retires.
But with being a nymph and a virgin at the same time - the struggle is real.

Follow Ell’s journey as she drinks too much beer and whiskey (is that even a thing ?) and has the time of her life before she has to return home.
One of my favorite aspects of this book is the word choices, because I relate to each and every thought in her head. *like for real.
And I CANNOT wait til book #2 !!!

Characters

This novella’s # one A++ score is its characters. From Ell to Blake to Liz. All such wonderfully drawn characters. They can be ridiculous and over the top at times but instead of coming off as annoying or two dimensional it makes them fun and colorful. Ell is all sass and sarcasm, but she has this heart of gold that’s hidden behind all her outspokenness. Blake is a romantic teddy bear with a knight in shining armor complex that makes you just love him. Liz and Tab are both a little crazy but totally hilarious and you’ll fall in love with each as you laugh at their shenanigans! Don’t even get me started on Midge/MeeMaw and John/PeePaw. Really an amazing cast of characters.

Plot

The flow felt jagged at times. It gave the appearance of being unpredictable without completely accomplishing it but it was very much enjoyable. It was an enjoyable read but I never really felt immersed. Perhaps it was because there was such a sudden jump into the plot and barely have you started to understand Fay before you’re on Earth. The one thing I can say, is you’ll never be bored!

Overall

Totally worth the read for the characters alone. I cannot praise them enough! I would pick up the next book in the series just to see what trouble Ell and gang gets into next. Its rainbow characters with a cotton candy plot. Fluffy and fun but not a lot of depth despite the author’s efforts. The writing is consistent and the settings interesting. It was a quick read that didn’t have a cliff hanger, just the feeling of ‘there is much more to come’ at the end of book 1.

Rating

4.5 (rounded down)

If you want rainbow characters with a cotton candy plot, this is a fun read. It’s a quick read but I cannot praise the characters enough.

What a fun and spicy book!! I’m not one to read fairy romance books but once I started it, I couldn’t put it down! Ell is the heir the faerie throne and has 10 months to basically sew her wild oats before she becomes Queen. She decides to take a portal to Electra, Texas and see what kind of trouble she can get to on Earth. She gets a job, meets friends and gets a hunky guy. But not so fast Ell. there are some elves and leprechauns in Electra and that’s not where they belong at all!! Ell has to protect herself and her kingdom without giving away that she is a faerie to the good folks of Electra, Texas! I loved the details about her world and how all these faeries and other magical beings interact!! I enjoyed the characters and especially loved John and Midge, two kind Texans, that take Ell in when she comes straight out a Fay to Earth. The ending definitely leads us to believe there will be many other stories of Ell and her people and that’s a good thing for me.

This medium burn reverse harem series adds a man to the harem each book. The first book was barely able to hold my attention. The characters inner monologue is annoying if not dull and I could barely make it through the first book. Before I even finished chapter 1 of the second book I decided this series is just a no-go. I couldn't get into it with the way it was written.

Okay. What a hidden gem of a book.

A Fairy Awesome Story is book one in A Fairy Awesome series (a reverse harem series), which is completed at 6 books and it really didn't disappoint.

This is my first book by Ellie Aiden and I'm so glad that I picked it up. Aiden's writing in book one is spunky and different. Some of the humor was a little on the cheesy side but over all, I enjoyed it.

The relationship between the Ell and Blake can be categorized as a little on the "insta lovey" side but the way Aiden went about it was superb. It is also to be expected for such a short book (less than 160 page count). Ell's relationships with the supporting characters were also very fun to read.

I was a little concerned that book one followed a single love interest until I got to that epilogue 👀.

The smut in book one was decent, not hard-core but also not fade to black. I would rate the smut/spice at a 2.5 🌶 (for me) and I hope it ramps up in future books.

There is a very sleezey character in the book and this is where the TW comes into play. Be mindful around 75% there are non consensual sexual themes (palming/undressing) all this unwanted by the MC. Though I didn't have any issues, I can understand that these themes may be disturbing for someone to read.

Overall book one was a quick and fun read, it had me laughing out loud at some parts, had me shocked with certain twists, had me aw'ing and all soft and fuzzy at the good bits and lastly it had me fuming with hatred towards a certain baddie.
