Spring has come to Blue Valley, and that means the arrival of the Nottingham Medieval Faire—owned and operated by the Webb brothers, Rich and Logan. The faire features King Richard the Lionheart, Prince John, Robin Hood and his merry men, Maid Marian, the Sheriff of Nottingham, and the whole gang. This year, Owen gets to play Robin Hood, and Alice has reluctantly agreed to be his Maid Marian.
Daytime events are held in Town Park and on Main Street, but in the evenings, the clearing in the woods near the lake lights up for jousts and balls, costumes, and all manner of revelry.
Things go terribly awry, however when one of the events has a rather dark outcome, and mayhem breaks loose.
Murder is afoot, and Owen is the number one suspect. Alice and Franny—along with Ben and Luke—won't rest until they find out who really ruined the Faire.
Can they clear Owen’s name and catch a killer in time to save the Faire?
The third book in the Rooftop Garden cozy series by Thea Cambert was another winner for me. A clean cozy mystery with a well crafted plot and likable characters. Alice, Franny, Owen, Ben and Luke have a murder to solve and the primary suspect is Owen. All of the books in this series are little more than 100 pages but don't lack for anything in keeping me turning the pages.
There is honestly nothing more comforting then coming back to a series that you have enjoyed from the very beginning. The Rooftop Garden series is definitely that for me. This series always brings me the feeling of meeting up with friends and going over their latest adventure in life. And I absolutely love it.
Murder Just Isn't Faire was such a fun jaunt into a little cosplay of the Old English Times involving Robin Hood of Locksley. All I could think of during this book was the Disney animated version, and the satirical version. Two of my absolute favorite movies, and this was just a sweet stroll down memory lane.
I adore the couples that we have within this book, they are always super sweet and have a clean romance. I just want Oliver to find someone now.
With the Faire there is mayhem and of course a murder. But it comes for a person least expected, from the last person I expected. With more new characters added for the faire you get some great characters that would make a great addition, but also those unsavory characters that ruin it for everyone.
I was completely surprised by the outcome but it was definitely one of the best that I've read!! I can't wait to continue the series!
Alice and her friends in Blue Valley, Tennessee are getting ready for the annual Medieval Faire to arrive. They've all got their costumes, and this year baker Owen is going to be Robin Hood -- even though he's never shot an arrow. Still, everyone is excited, especially at the hint of a celebrity guest.
The guest turns out to be a movie star who is also friends with Rich Webb, the elder of the two brothers who run the faire. But not everyone in town is happy with the faire, and when someone is shot through the heart with an arrow, it's suspected that Owen did the deed.
But his friends don't believe it, and they determine to find the truth -- even if it means putting their own lives in danger to do so...
This is the third book in the series and I quite enjoyed it as much as the first two. It's written well, and the plot line is interesting, surrounding the events taking place at an annual faire. With suspects abounding, and motives in the air, Alice and Franny, along with Ben and Luke, have their tasks cut out for them. Who had the best motive? Or the opportunity?
I'm getting to enjoy the characters more and more, and while we only get a glimpse or two of each of them in different books, we learn more about their pasts -- and this time about the future of some of them. It's fun reading, doesn't take a lot of time to do so, and makes you want to read the next in the series. That's a good thing, and I enjoyed this look into their lives.
The Nottingham Medieval Faire has come to Blue Valley and the whole town is in high gear. Owen is cast in the role of Robin Hood and Alice is cast in the role of Maid Marian. It was fun to “watch” and make believe I was there for all the action. When a contestant is killed, was it by accident? I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
It was spring in Blue Valley, TN and time for the annual Nottingham Faire where none other than our buddy Owen was playing Robin Hood, and Alice was reluctantly being Maid Marian. She was just wasn't thrilled with having to do the maypole dance that had made her extra dizzy when she was a kid, but this year the foursome of friends had more to worry about than motion sickness, because there was a murder to solve.
While the police (Ben and Luke) only had one logical suspect to work with, Owen, Alice and Franny weren't going to let their friend go to jail for skewering someone with an arrow. Owen couldn't hit the side of a barn if he was standing a foot away, but evidence to prove that someone else did it was the only thing that would save his hide. I started suspecting the right person as the clues added up to an exciting showdown where all the friends got to play some part in taking down the culprit. The sweetest thing happened toward the end of the book during the grand ball to close the Faire, and I'm really looking forward to the next book now!
10 stars!!!! I love this series!!!! Alice, Franny, Owen, Ben and Luke all have a big huge mess when the yearly Nottingham Faire a Medieval Faire comes to Blue Valley. The Webb brothers: Rich and Logan Webb the owners. There is heavy tension between the brothers and it is affecting everyone's around them. Rich is not a well liked person, a lot of people have reasons to harm him, and that's when Owen is a suspect along with alot of the players in the faire. Alice, Franny, Ben and Luke had to figure out who and they had many reasons why. And clear Owen. I didn't sleep much until i finished this book. You will love it, and you have to read for details.
It's springtime in Blue Valley. The Nottingham Medieval Faire is in town and naturally Alice is in charge of yet another town festival and has drawn in Franny and Owen. Owen is playing the part of Robin Hood in this one and at one point he has to shoot an arrow and King Richard during the joust He is probably the worst shot in the whole world however King Richard, played by one of the Webb brothers, is killed by an arrow. Or so it appears. Owen is the prime suspect so Alice, with Franny's help, has to prove how he died and who killed him in order to get Owen off the hook.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Another wonderful addition to this newish series. The characters are fun and typical of small town living. The book had an interesting storyline and a well plotted mystery.
It’s time for the annual renaissance fair and the entire town is gearing up for some fun. What they don’t expect is murder. Since Owen becomes a suspect he, Alice, and Franny start investigating. Can they find enough evidence to keep him out of jail?
A medieval faire turns to murder and Robin Hood is accused of murder. He is known as a robber who steals to give to the poor not a murder. Can he save himself and his reputation or will he end up in the slammer?
The gang will try to clear their friend’s name before more mayhem ensues. It was a nice quaint medieval theme cozy.
...which I hope will continue for long time. Love the friendship of Alice, Franny & Owen and the romanceof Ben & Franny, and budding romance of Alice & Luke. It’s refreshing that Ben & Luke never pooh pooh any information gathered by the three friends. Looking forward to book 4.
Couldn’t put this one down till the end. Very exciting story from the beginning of this book. I loved the costumes and all the descriptions of the festivities. I always get more involved in the action when I can imagine what’s happening with the characters. I hope that this series continues for a very long time.
Each book is better than the last one. Every time I pick up a new one, it's like catching up with old friends. I love the characters and the town that this series is set in, it's a place I would love to visit. I look forward to reading many more in this series.
Once more Alice, Franny, and Owen are looking for clues to solve a murder. There are multiple suspects and motives but once again I had it figured out. That didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book. I like the fact that the police are competent and don't constantly tell Alice and friends to butt out. Looking forward to the next book.
Alice, Franny, and Owen are taking part in a play about King Richard and Little John from Robin Hood legend when King Richard is killed with a poisoned arrow. Who shot the arrow, Owen is a suspect, Alice and Franny and their friends need to fight against the clock to find the real killer.
I must say I think this is my new favorite cozy mystery series. The mystery was full of red herrings just the way I like them. The romance is the perfect touch. Read it for your self. You will love it too.
Good story, good friends, and a joust. What’s not to love?! Not as much time spent on the roof top in this book....but I bet the rooftop garden and seating area is magical. Thank you for writing a great cozy mystery.
I love every character in this series. I like where things are headed for Ben and Franny. I picked the wrong person as the killer. It was interesting finding out the motive for this one. Looking forward to the next book.
The Nottingham Medieval Faire has come to blue valley, however all is not merry as an act supposedly went wrong, but did it? As Owen got the honor of playing Robin Hood he is the number one suspect. I enjoyed this alot. I received this as an ARC and voluntarily choose to reveiw.
Alice and the gang are all ready for the renaissance faire that has taken over their small town. Murder happens and the gang are once again trying to solve it. The writing is good and the mystery great!
