Getting invited to appear before the High Regency is an honor... unless you’re Lennox Kova, a rare supernatural hybrid who’s gained a healthy distrust of those in power. Lennie and her team have learned the hard way that great power and great responsibility also come with a great chance of being dangerously corrupt.
With only themselves and Dawes to count on, Lennie and her guys have a lot to handle: training Lennie to be part of Team Kova, digging deeper into the secrets of Doc’s sinister supe experiments, prepping to face the High Regency’s ominously mysterious summons, and trying to keep their psychic sane.
Tristan’s powers are spinning out of control, and with each new vision, their future and their relationships are looking even more uncertain.
Can they find the key to unlocking his psychic powers and defeating the odds against them, or will the weight of their present doom their future?
Mark of the Psychic is an mmfmmm romance, intended for readers 18 and up! There’s some violence that readers may find triggering.
Jarica is an American author. She prefers writing paranormal and fantasy books. When she isn't writing she is playing her xbox with her husband and fellow nerd. She has two crazy boys who make writing a challenge, but one she gladly accepts.
3.5 This one most certainly ends on a cliffhanger but at least the characters are making progress. Being called in by the most powerful supes shouldn't be something they fear but alas without knowing who all their enemies are, the gang has to always be on alert. Of course Lennox's powers make life much easier for them all but it would be better if she can get a handle on them all and remember them in the moment. When one enemy falls another always takes their place but at least they are aware at this point and with Tristan having visions it makes the future seem a little more tenable. Getting a little bored though so I hope things pick up for me!
This 4th book in the Obsidian Cove Supernatural Academy focuses on Tristan, the psychic. The overarching storyline is still front and center along with the rest of the cast of characters. Tristan has been keeping secrets from the team; his nightmares, visions and feelings of jealousy and inadequacy. He knows this could be bad for the team, but he can’t seem to make himself vulnerable enough to confide in them. He is finally able to make a psychic connection with a druid who can help him not only understand what is happening to him, but also help him to ground his powers so they don’t overwhelm him. Of course all of this is juxtaposed among the High Regency’s summons of the team to headquarters.
I know there are 2 more books in this series to come, but I’m not sure I’m going to continue. My biggest problem is with the MFC, Lennox. She started off as a sympathetic character in the first book but by book 4, I borderline cannot stand her. Personally, I find her to be a bit cocky, manipulative and self centered. Call it what you like, but her treatment of Tristan after the nightmare attack was nothing short of gaslighting. After that incident, she shut them all out since she claimed she needed to “tend to her own mental needs,” yet she tells them she just needs time and will talk to them the next day. Then we find a week goes by and she has still been uncommunicative with Tristan. Aeson is worried and talks to her and THEN, all of a sudden she wants to play savior and find out what is wrong with Tristan because he has SHUT HER OUT!?!? Oh please bitch. Lennox:I generally wasn’t the damsel in distress type, but today I was physically tired, mentally exhausted, and more than ready to lean on my guys in hopes they’d find a solution. Really? Because I just read 4 books where your guys have had to rescue you time and time again. She’s been nothing but a damsel in distress. She’s a black hole of distress.
Lennox:Communication was so important, and Tristan was panicking alone, which made no sense with the support he had. But I wasn’t going to give up that easily. see? Gaslighting. She’s the one who told him that she needed time! Honestly, I spent most of this book wanting to throat punch her.
There’s also more MM erotic scenes than in any of the other books. In addition to the relationship between Tristan and Aeson, there’s been an attraction - through the growing blood bond - between Lachlin and Evander. So we’re getting to the point where we have a female involved with 1 single male (Calev), and 2 MM couples. So if that’s not your thing (and it isn’t mine) you’ll want to either skip this book or the series entirely or just skim through those scenes.
Given that there’s so many books on KU, my recommendation is to find another academy series. There are better ones out there.
SYNOPSIS (of 5 Books Series): This series is set in the modern world where the supernaturals try to live separate to the humans. The FC (Lennox) does not know she is a supernatural but finds out when the MCs (Bear, Psychic, Mage, Vampire & Gargoyle) are sent to find her because she is an undocumented shifter. The story arcs over the FC finding out who and what she is and where she came from, her relationship with each MC and trying to evade and bring down the people who are stealing people and experimenting on making powerful hybrid shifters. There is a HEA
This is an enjoyable enough series and decently written and edited with a few typing and spelling issues but not enough to really impact the reader. The world, relationship and character building is good and gives depth to the story and the individual characters. There’s a decent enough amount of action to keep the books moving and the sex scenes are not over the top or too plentiful but are relatively hot 🌶️🌶️. There’s MM action as well as FM action. The MCs themselves are pretty vanilla in their behaviour and interactions. None of them came across as particularly strong, possessive or alpha.
This story is not remotely original with the FC not knowing she is a supernatural, experiments being done on supernaturals and a corrupt governing body. If you can accept that it is an OK read with some action and HEA. It is also another one of those books where the villains are depicted as evil and do terrible things but the “Good Guys” refuse to kill or really punish them because that would be wrong 🙄
One of my biggest issues with stories like this is where the author makes the FC really powerful and yet they always get their asses kicked by the villains. This series is a classic for that and it is nonsensical and frustrating. Despite the fact that the FC has been training and can use multiple powers she is always taken down by lesser supernaturals and doesn’t seem able or willing to fight back. There are also several situations where the villains could be killed or taken down but aren’t which just seems a ridiculous plot method to keep the story dragging out. Much of the story doesn’t really make sense either with the villain seeming to evolve and there are gaps left in the story - such as what happened to the various regional councils after they were investigated? Were the academies improved and the corruption stamped out? Why did the FC not really acknowledge her Siren side?
In conclusion I found this readable but not a keeper or a series that really grabbed my attention. I skimmed quite a bit as the books progressed.
"Mark of the Psychic" is the fourth book in the "Obsidian Cove Supernatural Academy" series, where Tristan's growing powers lead the pack to unchartered territory. I always love characters with psychic powers. Whenever I have to ask the question what kind of superpower I would want to have, I'm dreaming of all the psychic possibilities. As a result, I love watching Tristan's powers grow and explore all the new and improved possibilities.
But growing powers aren't the only challenge Lennox and her men have to counter. No matter where they go, no place ever seems safe, and the threat to get captured again (or unalived) remains constantly present.
This series seems to get better with every single book, so I'm excited to find out what will happen next.
Yet again, Jarica does not disappoint! Lennox and her guys have already been faced so many difficult challenges. Time and time again, they prove to everyone around them that Team Nova is not only above average in abilities, but also that they are strongest when facing impossible situations together. The past is coming back to haunt the group, but the only way forward leaves them with more questions than answers. I could not put this down! Eagerly waiting to see what's next for Lennie's future with her guys.
I have binged this series and now what? I just found this series after reading a Christmas theme book done exclusively by reverse harem/ why chose authors called "Let's Scrooge" . I instantly fell for all these characters and their stories. Their weaknesses become their strengths as well as a family. I initially thought that it was a completed series but alas there are six books in the series and no idea when the next will arrive. May the Gods and muses of beloved authors read out and inspire the completion of the last two stories soon.
This one continues to add more and more little twists to what we know. Sometimes I was stunned by the action as Lennie and her mates went down paths I didn't see coming. They are lucky to have each other, relying on the strength and support of one another when necessary. The conflicts they experience leading up to the end are signs that things will be heating up even more ahead, making me eager for book five.
The whole series is great!! I really like how the characters all have their own vulnerabilities they have to work through. Could have probably done with less m/m but it didn't take away from the storyline. I can't believe the ending of this one!! I need the next one by midnight!! (Which is in 10 minutes)
The hits just keep on coming! The story continues to ramp up along with the magic associated with Lennox and her group. The story is keeping me completely entranced so much so it's hard to put it down! We get steam, a bit of action, and a whole lot of questions. I'm excited to see where this storyline is going!
I love the previous three books in this series, and this one is no different, I love it! The characters and storyline are fantastic! If you haven’t started this series yet, what are you waiting on? This is a definite must read!
Another great book in the series. This one finds Tristan as the one needing more from his team. More secrets are unraveled but this also brings more questions. Love how all of their relationships are developing and look forward to the next one.
This book was a great addition to the series. A fast paced page turner. I love these characters. I kind of feel like Calev was pushed to the side in this one though. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Wow I loved this book!! Love the dynamic with Lennox and her men, secrets are unraveled but it leaves you with more questions I need answers to! Tristan is the on needing more from his team in this book and I love how strong they've become! Need the next book now lol!
I absolutely love Lennox. She is so strong and bad ass. The guys are amazing. I love learning new bits about their pasts and seeing them all work together and become a stronger unit. Cant wait for the next book.
It feels like things are finally starting to happen in this book. I did feel that the trip to the jungle was anticlimactic as it seemed that was supposed to be the main part of this book and it was very rushed so the rest could happen.
The weaving of this story is just so awesome! I’m not sure what to expect next! As before, well written and solid world building continues on as well as further character growth. Cannot wait for the next installment!!!
Each story amazes me with its twists and turns. The amazing way the pace is set, the plot, the characters that develop more and more. Told in multiple pov, this is an exciting adventure in reading.
Loved this book. The story continues with Lennie and her 5 men, facing more struggles to uncover what they need to know and do to help their future. Hot and steamy scenes that make your mouth water and you squirm for more and to that I say YES PLEASE!!!!
I think this will become one of my favorite rereads. It's face paced, the story is wonderful, the emotions you phase through so quickly at times from happiness to deviation and back. I can't wait to see where this group of characters goes next.
This is by far the best book in the series so far. I did not have nice things to say about the first 3 books! The characters are showing growth and their relationship is improving. The plot is moving along, though not quickly enough. We'll see what happens next...
Omg it’s certainly getting exciting now! It all ramps up with more drama a new enemy and some twists i did not see coming! Loving it looking forward to the the next in series
This series has gotten so exciting. It’s also intriguing. I’m laughing and crying. I’m looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens next.
Thoroughly recommend this author. All her series have strong characters & detailed plots. Genuinely cant put them down until I finish all the available books.
OMG , I need the next book now. This book was once again action-packed and kept me hooked all the way through. Amazing five star read that I would definitely recommend.
