Hot guys, big hearts, Sue's world. Sue Brown is a Londoner with a dream to live on a small island. Coffee fuels her addiction to writing romance with hot guys loving each other, and her Adorkadog snores in harmony as she creates.
The first one in this series was kinda just middlin'.
But this one is listed as "reverse age play" - so, older Boy with younger Daddy? If so, Yes please! Sign me up to read that story!
I mean, what...older littles/boys/girl are just shit out of luck if their "age appropriate" Daddy dies or moves on? F@ck that. Think about it: 40 yr old Daddy to 22 yr old Boy...in 30 years that means what if the Daddy dies? 50 year old people don't (usually) stop liking what they like, don't stop being sexual beings because they get old. JFC.
(Yes, this is in response to a review/comment I read earlier on a different book with a similar Older Boy/Younger Daddy theme - and what bothered me was the comment didn't delve into whether that dynamic was done well or badly, just that it exists - and rather than say something in their space, I'm saying "check your ageism or whatever Judgy McJudgerson" in my own.)
2.5* maybe. I was so frustrated with these two not talking and it was all very vague about why/how they split and the sheer jealousy rage was such a red flag. You have been separated for 3+ years and you want to rip off the head of anyone who dares be in the same room as him. Um. Dude, that's not romantic.
The mystery part was okay I guess, although I thought the why was a bit lame. But people do/think stupid shit. I also kept trying to dig around to see if this was a spin-off. There was talk of a couple who run a security firm in London and I thought maybe I missed their story somewhere, or other couples that it seemed you were supposed to know. I did read book 1 (don't remember much) but there were way more established couples that it seems this was connected but I couldn't figure it out.
On the whole I thought their communication sucked and I wasn't really invested in them getting back together. Granted the older boy/younger daddy was a nice change.
Hold Close is the second book in the Biker Daddy Bodyguards serie by Sue Brown. I loved the story of Louis and his Daddy Craig. Their story was sweet, sexy, hot and very well written.
Hold Close is a MM second chance story with an age gap, Daddy kink and older Boy/ younger Daddy. I really recommend this story.
This was a fantastic book. Though I've never been disappointed by a book written by Sue Brown. I loved the action, angst, and love. Definitely a reread.
This was a nice story. Louis needs someone to protect him and he trusts no one more than Craig. Though they both have to work through what caused them to separate before but I think it makes them stronger. I liked both characters though was a little miffed that everyone was so worried about Craig hurting Louis again but no one cared that Louis had hurt Craig too, I just felt they cared more for one than the other and it made me hurt for Craig because it didn't feel like anyone was in his corner. I am enjoying these stories and look forward to more.
I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review
Hold Close, the second book in the Biker Daddy Bodyguards series, is an entertaining bodyguard romance.
Craig's a bodyguard charged with protecting his former boy. Louis has to beg him to help, as he's scared of the danger that faces him.
From the start, I love the dynamics between these two. They know one another so damn well, and obviously still care for each other. But they are definitely in a forbidden relationship situation, as Craig has been warned that he is there JUST to be Louis' bodyguard.
One has to love a great second chance romance with the boy being older than the Daddy!
And I love that the reason they broke up is realistic in both ending them and allowing them to restart things. They have some work to do to overcome their initial problems, but it's all well done.
Overall, this is a story of two men who complete one another. But neither man can be what the other needs. It's a tale of living with one's old memories of fear and pain, or moving onto making new memories.
Hold Close is a great tale with hesitation and desire leading the way for this second chance romance. Sue Brown definitely will leave you delighted with this Daddy romance.
When Louis is brutally attacked outside the club he owns, he knows he needs a bodyguard, and he knows he needs Craig, his former boyfriend and Daddy. Their split wasn’t amicable, and they both have regrets, but Craig can’t resist the fact that Louis needs him, and it’s clear from their first interaction that they both still love each other. Against the backdrop of Louis’s PTSD from the attack and the mystery of who might be after him, they begin to patch up their relationship. From the beginning, I liked Louis a lot. He’s a confident, capable businessman, but he’s also a kind one, and he balances an intense work ethic with a dedication to his staff’s success and well-being. His interactions with Jamie, his assistant and best friend, embody this perfectly. I wasn’t as big of a fan of Craig, to be honest. His desire to possess and manage Louis (no one else can guard ‘his’ boy) is intense, but he’s not willing to offer Louis the reassurance of a commitment or even, at first, much of an emotional connection. While eventually enough people yell at him so that he starts to figure things out, I can’t shake the feeling that left to his own devices his pride and stubbornness would have kept him from ever getting there on his own. Overall, however, this is a hot and sweet second-chance romance that ends with both characters finding a way to get exactly what they need together.
*An ARC was provided by the author and I have chosen to publish a fair and honest review*
3/5. This book was much better written than the first in my opinion, although there were some parts that made me laugh because it was a little ridiculous.
I’m not really a fan of bigger boy/smaller Daddy, or second chance romance so… this really wasn’t the book for me which is why for *me* it is only three stars. I recognize outside of this that the book was enjoyable, and some people would LOVE the tropes mentioned.
The writing was notably improved! We didn’t have the weird mixture of FTB and detailed sexy scenes, sticking instead to less sex scenes in the book which I think is for the best. Overall, I found that the writing was just better arranged and not as many typos or errors. However, the hurt/comfort in this book just felt like it was missing something. I’m not sure, but I didn’t really get into that angsty feeling.
This book also answers why Erik Strada wasn’t dealt with on the first book. I get the feeling and understanding now he’s meant to be the Big Villain and he probably won’t be dealt with until the last book. There’s also more building out the Daddy/boy community there in Seattle where this is being set in.
Hold Close is book 2 in the Biker Daddy Bodyguard series, although it can be read as a standalone, which is what I did.
Louis is a successful businessman and an older boy, who needs a Daddy bodyguard after being attacked out of his club. He asks his old Daddy, Craig, to come back to Seattle and be in charge of his security. They parted ways years before when neither of them wanted to compromise, but they haven't gotten over each other. Can they find a way back to what they were before?
This was certainly a different take on the boy/Daddy dynamics, seeing that Louis is older than Craig. I really liked Louis, but Craig was a bit of a harder sell for me. I wanted to shake him a few times with how possessive he was of Louis and yet he was the more stubborn of the two when it was time to find some middle ground so they could be together. Still, they seemed to work well together and had chemistry, so there's that.
Overall, the story was an interesting, engaging take on the Daddy/boy trope and a lovely second chance romance that I have no trouble recommending.
*** Copy provided for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. ***
When other bodyguards are supposed to touch their clients only to protect them, Sue Brown's are encouraged to cuddle with their charges because they're Daddies as well as protectors...isn't it an awesome thing?
In Hold Close, after being attacked outside his club, Louis wanted only one man to protect him: his ex boyfriend/ Daddy Craig. These two had a lot of history together and they were still very much in love. I could feel their longing, but they were both stubborn, unable to communicate and afraid to open themselves up to more hurt. They were so sweet together and incredibly connected, so I cheered at watching them slowly rebuilding the lost trust and having the heart to heart conversations they needed to.
I was glued to the pages of the book, curious to find out who was behind the attack against Louis and excited to see him and Craig finally work out their differences. Hold Close is an amazing second chances romance and a great addition to the series. I can't wait to see which Daddy/boy will find each other next.
Hold Close has a nice mix of mystery, angst, romance, and heat that I really enjoyed, and I was very excited to be chosen to receive an ARC for an honest review. While the main characters had a reverse daddy-boy theme, with the older Louis being the boy to the younger Craig, there wasn’t really actual age play which I usually enjoy, but that didn’t detract from the story. Louis went through a traumatic experience within the first few pages of the story and needs someone to care for and protect him. Who better than Craig, a bodyguard who loves Louis still? Sue does a great job of telling the story of Louis and Craig, why they broke up before, and how they get a second chance to find their happy ending. In between a sexy love story is real character and story development that ends in a very satisfying way. Hold Close is book 2 in the Biker Daddy Bodyguard series. I read it first and definitely recommend it. I am now going back to read book 1 – Hold Firm – which tells the story between Quinn and Cade, and I look forward to reading book 3 in January.
This is a brilliant second installment to this series from Sue Brown. The golden thread of Biker Daddies follows through the series with the boys of Seattle being unsettled and in need of comfort.
This time it's older boy Louis who has been traumatised and the only person who can help left him four years ago under a cloud. But neither Louis nor Daddy Craig recovered properly from their relationship and Craig is the only one Louis will trust with his life now. Luckily Daddy Craig is also a biker bodyguard and everything falls into place, but what will happen next....
As with the first book in this series this is one of my favourite Sue Brown books; it's descriptive, sexy, funny, emotional, it covers issues such as bankruptcy, mental health and ptsd which are not talked about enough. It also deals with a reverse age gap romance which is not often seen in romance books.
This was a great book to read and I can't wait to pick up the next one xx
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher and provide my honest review voluntarily
Craig was a take charge dominant, and his career as a bodyguard meant a lot to him Louis was Craig's former boy, and he was a successful club owner whose business ruled his life. Their relationship ended because neither was willing to compromise when it came to their professional lives, and they were unwilling to try to work things out. When Louis was attacked outside his club, Craig was called in to protect him during the investigation. It was obvious right away that the men were still in love but hurt. I enjoyed seeing their resentments begin to ease as they realized how much they still cared. I liked that Louis was the bigger man but also the submissive. I enjoyed their power dynamic. I felt like both men grew over the time of the story. The secondary characters were there to support the men and encourage the rekindling of their relationship, and the danger kept them from pulling apart before they could work things out. I really enjoyed this romance!
4.5 stars. A good/bad start to the book with an assault poor Louis he didn't have a chance to defend himself. But a good out come of sorts as he gets a second chance with his past Daddy. Craig is a protective Daddy who gets jealous of anyone touching "his boy" even after 3 years. A bratty boy totally needs a punishment but he needs to heal first. A great ending for the book with a HEA and not with out a bit of dramas at the finish. This is the second book in the series and can be read as a standalone. Although I'd recommend these to be read in order to know the events of the past book. I cant wait for the next book. I loved the closeness that Craig felt and fought for his boy in protecting him..
Louis 42 owned his club but he didn't count on being attacked in his own back alley, putting him to hospital. He needed protection, Liam knew the perfect Daddy Bodyguard. Craig 29 yrs was Louis boy 3 years ago and still had a soft spot for him.
When Daddy Craig hears his former Little Louis begging him for help he knew he would protect him. Louis's life was in danger and he had no idea who or even why but there was only one person he could trust - Craig. Craig might keep telling himself that Louis was just a client but in his heart is was still his boy as he was his world. But could he trust him not to break his heart again?
I enjoyed this second chance story with the danger facing Louis, the unknown source, the difficulty finding anyone he could trust and their romance which was easy to fix if they could only learn how to compromise. Together they made a great couple and it was lovely to see how protective they were of each other. It was great to read it and try to work out at the same time the who and why of the threat. Easy to read and understand this was an MM book where there was a reasonable amount of mature content of the BDSM DDLB variety.
When Louis is faced with life threatening danger, he seeks out the one man who makes him feel safe, the Daddy who walked away from him. Craig, ran and ran as far as he could, to not be in the same space as the boy he still loved. But when danger threatens he will be there to protect the man who still holds his heart.
This second book in the series follows a bit of the arc of the first book. Although Louis has his own problems we see familiar characters make appearances in this story as well. The story has some light hearted moments, some action packed ones and some passionate ones as well. I would have loved to see the main characters have more open, heart to heart conversations as they learnt to compromise and move forward. Overall this is an engaging read. I’m looking forward to more of this series.
Thank you for the ARC read, I voluntarily give this book an honest review. After the attack and Louis was hurt. all he wanted was his daddy but he didn't have his anymore. Battered and bruised Lou could only hope the one person he trusted above all others was willing to help him now. One person was all it took for Craig to drop everything to return to his boy, but he wasn't his anymore. With an unknown danger out there he could at least protect Louis. Only who would protect his heart from another heartbreak? Would one of them ruin the rekindled flaming heat before it lit? Another great a Daddy/Boy of an action packed steamy read. Ironically everything that hindered the romance at the beginning was what draws them closer this go round, only if Daddy could get the boy or would that be vice versa? The supision of just who was really behind the threat was nail bitter.
A Daddy and his boy get a second chance at their HEA
The second book in the Biker Daddy Bodyguards, this book revolves around Louis and Craig and their fight to reach their HEA. I am growing to really enjoy the Daddy/boy books and find that Sue is one who really knows how to develop a strong storyline and characters that hold your interest and keep you turning the pages. While there is no set “norm” on Daddy/boy books, its been my experience that the Daddy is the older of the pair and the boy is the younger one who needs guidance and a firm hand. Much to my surprise, Craig is the younger of pair but he is also the Daddy. I really enjoyed that piece of their dynamic. Overall it was a very enjoyable book to read and I look forward to the next in the series. This review is an honest and unbiased reflection of my thoughts after reading an advanced readers copy of the book.
I'm giving this 3 stars because of the MC's history. That's the only thing that stopped this from being instalove.
I read this book in preparation for book three which didn’t look like I could read as a standalone. I’m not sure if this is a spinoff series but there are a lot of characters, clearly with a history, and it’s confusing. I skipped book one because I could tell from the synopsis, I wouldn’t like it but maybe that’s where all the characters are introduced and explained?
This is a second chance romance born out of forced proximity. It makes me wonder if these two would have ever gotten back together otherwise.
This story seemed VERY rushed which influenced the dialog. It was predictable and a little OTT at times. I was intrigued by the synopsis but wasn’t overly impressed.
I saw this series when the first book came out. That synopsis didn’t grab me. But this morning when I saw the 4th book I liked the sound of it and decided to revisit the series. I liked the sound of this book. The story line was good, and although I’ve not read the first book I don’t think I missed out much. There are characters and subplots from the first so you may want to start at the beginning. I enjoyed this. I liked the reverse in an older boy. I liked the career dynamics and enjoyed reading how Louis and Craig came back together. I Did find a fair few typos that pulled me out of the book more. But would recommend and plan to read the 4th book.
Hold Close is book 2 in the Biker Daddy Bodyguards series. I really enjoyed this age gap, older boy younger Daddy story of second chances. Craig is asked to be a bodyguard for Louis as they figure out why anyone would want to hurt him. While Louis is recovering and having Craig care for him they get an opportunity to work on their relationship. Sometimes terrible things happen so something even better can come out of it. I enjoyed watching Louis and Daddy Craig find their way back to each other. I'm enjoying this world and look forward to more. I recommend this book and series.
Sign me up for more! This was my first time reading a Sue Brown book and I did devour it in a ridiculously short time! It had everything I love all in one book: Daddy kink, second chances and a man in danger and in need of a bodyguard. I loved how Luis and Craig, despite having been broken up for three years, are still so not over each other that, for Luis, Craig is the only man he trusts enough to protect him, and Craig, doesn't even have to think about it twice, when he hears his boy needs him. The book is sweet, sexy and very well written, it captured my interest immediately, and also the mystery part is very well done, I did not expect who the culprit was at all!
Sue cannot write a bad book. Second chance ✔, reverse age play ✔, Daddy biker bodyguard ✔, hurt/comfort ✔. All my boxes have been checked. Louis was attacked and almost killed before his Daddy Craig realized how much he missed his boy and comes back to mend his relationship and help Louis to recover. Can be read as a standalone book but is better if you've read first book. A list of suspects but I never guessed who it was. I highly recommend this series and can't wait for book 3.
This is a second chance, age gap, Daddy/boy story. Wow. She packs quite a punch in these books. Loved it. I love a mystery that leaves you guessing. Him?? Never expected that. Craig and Louis' story has just the right amount of angst. Louis nearly dies after a beating outside the club he owns. And the only thing he wants is for his Daddy to come take care of him. Craig is half a world away, but comes when his boy is in danger. Sue Brown really grabs your attention and heart with this one. Not light hearted, but an interesting and quick read.
This is a GREAT Book regarding Louis and Craig. Torn apart by misunderstanding and insecurity Louis needs a personal bodyguard. Almost being killed has him longing for Craig. Craig seeing Louis again almost stops his heart. He didn't know who had done this to Louis but he was going to make them pay. These two men were knot heads. Pride pulled them apart. Communication will give them a life. Their struggle is at the heart of most broken relationships. I really ENJOYED this book. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!!
Louis was all kinds of messed up after the attack and needs a bodyguard, trouble is the perfect candidate was his old daddy Craig. Both men regret what happened between them but can't seem to find a way to make it work. An enjoyable plot with a villain i didn't see coming, this was more about the second chance that Louis and Craig have and how they desperately were the perfect match but rebelled against compromise.
A second chance romance between Louis and Craig. Louis is attacked outside his club and he only wanted his daddy, Craig. Craig and Louis split up because of his job and Louis wanted more than he was willing to give. Their romance has May/December, bodyguard, daddy kink, bikers, a lot of angst, second chance, sweet moments, romantic, and sexy times are hot. I enjoyed this book as much as I did the first one and I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
