Heather has been helping people around the world start living the life of their dreams. Her passion is helping people find freedom from trauma, pain, illness and addiction. After finding herself near death and diagnosed with multiple rare, genetic diseases in 2012, Heather realized that she needed to deal with the “real” cause of all of her chronic illness. She discovered that all of her past traumas, things she thought she had dealt with, were subconsciously supporting her illnesses.
Through the same techniques that she now uses to help her clients, Heather not only healed from a myriad of chronic “incurable” diseases, but she began living the life of her dreams! Now she has dedicated her life to helping others do the same thing. Heather has been married for 16 years and currently has two beautiful daughters on Maui.
This book is life-changing. Heather McKean effortlessly teaches some of the most complex neuroscience as she shares the tools to harness the power of the mind. It honestly feels like you’re just talking to a friend—who happens to be boiling down essential science about how your mind is literally shaping your reality. I’ll probably read this book once a year. (Highly recommend listening on Audible! She has a very soothing voice.)
It was good. Mostly information I already knew but thought the pattern interruption thing was cool, that is an entirely new idea to me that I will definitely be using. What I don't like is the Law of Attraction/ Secret stuff. That is demonic and I know because I was heavily into it for years and wound up under demonic oppression. I also wish the author would talk about God more than just mentioning Him like two times. Yes, we indeed have power to create our lives but we need to yield under the power and authority of Jesus Christ and ask for Gods will in our life above all else otherwise we are susceptible to the "I'm the God of my own universe" lie that is propagated by many self help gurus. We create, yes. But THROUGH God almighty and His Holy Spirit. Period. Without Him we can do diddly squat. All glory goes to Him at the end of the day, because, again, if we leave Him out and don't frame our wants with an "in Jesus' name, if it's HIS will, let this be done" it could just be Satan serving up these things to us. I wish she would have also touched on prayer and how important that is, as well as reading the Bible. Also I would have added that material possession and success is not what will make life ultimately meaningful, but God and His love will. These are just all lessons I've learned after encountering Jesus during my years long search through things like Law of Attraction, Transcendental meditation, occult involvement, Astrology, etc. that eventually led me to explore the Bible and find Christ...He is the only who casts demons out rather than attracts them, and hey, I know that can sound crazy, but I lived it and that is the truth of my experience. LOA is demonic because it focuses on only the self and forcing things into our own manipulated reality. We can have a plan, sure, but that should be prefaced with the desire for God's will trumping anything we think we need or want because He knows us best at the end of the day. That's just my two cents. Like I said there was still a lot of accurate and good information in the book; I'm just disappointed she left out the ONLY PERSON who will ultimately make us happy despite any traumas or trials we face, which is Jesus Christ.
This book is a reminder that there is hope! We can renew our minds and change how we live our lives. Mind Change is easy to read and the concepts are simple to grasp. Real life examples are embedded throughout the book which I loved. Those examples really connected with me and I have re-read many portions of the book as a result. I feel more empowered to take control of my thoughts (which will in turn change my life) and have had a more positive mindset since reading the book. Thank you Heather for this valuable resource!
Great book! Well written. Easy to follow through and understand. Even the neuroscience was easy to understand and digest! Thank you Heather McKean for the deep research and study that went into creating this Mind Change masterpiece!
The power of our minds have been underestimated and this book explains the science and wonder of it all. This is a great resource for working on yourself to become your best version of you available.
This book is helpful as a starter for personal change, both in the mind and in the body. She also recommends a lot of other good books to read for the mind/body connection. I think that several of her ideas, particularly for dealing with trauma, are very helpful. I would recommend this book to people who are tired of traditional medicine and need help getting started recognizing thought patterns and tracks that are affecting their health. This was my first time through the book, and I plan on doing a second reading to go over several of her ideas and to do the journaling exercises that she recommends.
I learned so much that I’d never heard of before about the subconscious and the way we store and replay negative experiences. I’m excited to practice rewriting my own patterns and learning more through the YouTube channel, etc. I love the scientific background and the way the author explains everything. I also appreciate how kind and gentle her approach is, very honoring of the reader’s perspective and pace. It’s a soothing book to read, nonjudgmental and not pushy at all.
Nothing earth shattering. Everything I’ve heard before in other books. Some good reminders. I preferred the coach I used to implement the methods, but still haven’t seen majors changes. I probably need to revisit.
