I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis. If you've read any of my books you'll see there is often a reference to said movies as a small homage to my upbringing. May the force be with you and all that jazz.
I started writing when I realized I didn't want to grow up not believing in magic, or not believing in creatures everyone else said didn't exist. That being said, I have never seen a fairy, unicorn or dragon. I had a neighbour who swore they fed the leprechauns in their garden, but I never caught the little buggers no matter how long I lay in wait. (And consequently had to help the neighbours plant new flowers to replace those I killed waiting for the leprechauns to show their faces.)
Along the way, I found my husband who is the rock that keeps me from floating away into my dreams, and we have a little boy who is the centre of our world. Living on a farm keeps us busy (as if the writing wasn't enough) and I have more than my share of stories about wrestling with cows, helping birth calves and ending up in the creek during the process, falling in the mud (we'll call it mud but we all know that on a farm, mud is rarely mud) and chasing escaped livestock in the hopes the four legged convicts don't make it to the highway.
I've taken up archery, and the goal is to move into horseback archery in time (you know, when I can hit the target on a consistent basis) and when no one is looking, I love to bake (this doesn't happen often as it's hard to keep the sweet treats in stock with two boys in the house.)
As to what's coming next for me? More stories (since those never stop inside my head, I might as well share them with all of you!) and more adventures. Pretty much, when the fancy strikes, I'll jump on it. Leap before you look I'm sure that motto was created for me.
Or was that . . . think big and dream bigger, ready, set, pull the trigger . . . yeah. That one is a good one too. But only if you have a gun. And are hunting elephants. Which is not cool because of so many reasons. Let's stick with the first one with an addendum.
Leap before you look and let your dreams carry you on their wings. And that, my friends, is me in a nutshell.

Things are getting tense in this series!! Although this book kind of felt a bit rushed at the end, it is still a favourite and it has still left me 'needing' the next installment!!!

This book opened with Giselle “reading” the members of Rylee’s team which was such a tease because Shannon Mayer gave fans a quick taste of what’s to come, snatched it away, and then proceeded to distract us with yet another super-charged story. Way to hook me with short-term action while also guaranteeing that the RYLEE ADAMSON series stays at the very top of my to-be-read pile. TRACKER was a smidgen less airtight than the previous installment, so I deducted half a star. It was Milly’s fault.
I enjoyed the spread of this novel’s plot; it was beautifully executed, and also managed to weave in a bit of foreshadowing along the way. The heroine’s dilemma was one that I could relate to in that sometimes you have no choice except to pick the best of the worst, and in Adamson’s case that came down to Faris or Berget. A vampire Emperor/ess must be chosen, and unfortunately its slim pickings as far as the candidates are concerned, that is until Rylee creatively drafts a plan C.
Frank and Tara are the two newest black sheep to join the protagonist’s save-the-world squad which I wasn’t thrilled about because BLIND SALVAGE was the first installment that didn’t add any characters, and I’d dared to hope for a moment that the author’s long list of secondaries was finally complete. Guess not. Mayer does however dispose of an existing ally, so technically the tally only goes up by one. And, yeah, that means another dude(tte) bites the dust—rest easy, it’s not a big loss.
Milly continues to be the main thorn in my side in this series. She went from questionable, to downright loathsome, so I was happy to see her at long last get her just desserts. Her fall from grace lasted five books, thus in my opinion her punishment should have gone on for a minimum of two volumes which made the flimsy twelve chapters a huge outrage. I understand the need for it, but I will never be able to believe in her comeback because of its brevity which may cause problems for me later on.

Another fast paced action packed adventure. I think I’ve cried in each book so far. So much heartache and emotional terminal happening. It’s all leading up to something big. Great secondary characters.

Yup, I'm surprised that this series is still interesting!
The plot thickens! And not in a bad was, as I half expected.
Normally, around the 4th book, series start to get "fillers", books whose only purpose is to make the series longer, nothing important happens with the actual plot and stuff get boring.
Well, it's not the case here! Maybe because the books are pretty short, maybe because the characters are so fun that it's hard to get bored of them. Or maybe because the author is just that good! I don't know and I don't really care, as long as Mayer keeps it up.

This one was better over all. There was a lot of personal growth across many characters and it felt like the long arc made good headway. There also wasn't quite so many tropes that usually irritate me.
I did think we'd end up losing one of the characters before the book was over, but it was not to be, yet.

Ancient Vampires
There's only one vampire who can rule. Rylee wants to save her sister and comes up with a plan. Faris is all about himself but is he strong enough? Or will another rise?
I couldn't believe what happened to Dox he was so sweet. I just know there will be a lot of loss when the time comes against Orion.

As always, Mayer and the Rylee series deliver. The characters keep growing and learning. This book is not the end of the series, and it's unclear to me how many more will come, but all the characters are in place for the finale. Mayer has set that up to be bittersweet. This book, like the others, is nonstop action. The writing continues to be crisp and effective. Easily a favorite series! If you like Singh, Neill, Frost, or Pryce, you will like Mayer.

This is book six in the Rylee Adamson series and another fantastic entry. Each book in this series continues to amp up the suspense, the foreboding and sets me on edge on what will be happening to our heroes next. There are so many twists and turns and I so desperately want a happy ending for Rylee, Liam and the rest of the gang. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

another action packed installment
In Tracker Rylee must use her wits and her swords to prevent the coming disasters. After the loss of Dox in the last book she is devastated but swears vengeance. Faris is holding her to her oath to him to kill the Child Empress and someone has invented a weapon that works around supernaturals. It's a wild ride as she and Alex and Doran scheme to stop both the Child Empress and Faris while Liam and Pamela and Milly try to find out about the new weapons. Throw in some Trolls, a woman evil to the core, a prophecy from Giselle from beyond the veil and it's another thrilling read

I knew from the first page I was going to love this series and it has become one of my favourites. I read it years ago and now I am leaving a review.
Rylee has the best and the worst job, to find those who are lost, the ones no one can find but it is not all sunshine and roses. Sometimes it will break your heart.
It is an intriguing, suspenseful, and mysterious thriller filled with tension. The story includes alliances, threats, betrayal, riddles, and plots, all infused with a touch of humour to keep the pages turning.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I think one of the things I love about this series is that in each book the characters keep growing. The character development is superb and I am still immersed in Rylee's world. Usually I need to take a break when reading a serial that has 5 or more books, but not this time. Now I simply want to keep going, and I can only hope that the end is not really the end.

When I first started this series I always felt that the books were longer. Or they felt longer.
This book seemed to fly by and just seemed super short but with a lot packed into it.
I like Rylee as much as I did when I first started the series. Shes kick ass and bad ass and actually doesn't seem to be one of those female leads that says I can kick butt but doesn't show she can. She actually backs up the description pretty effectively.

There is a Graphic Audio production of the whole Rylee Adamson Series, which includes 10 books of the series and five short stories. All this was included in my audible subscription. That's how I decided to listen to all the books and short stories. Otherwise it would have been pretty costly to listen to this production.
The first two short stories and book 1 and two were 3.5 and 4 stars. The rest of the series was a solid three stars rating.
At some point the story felt to drawn out but since I had passed the point of no return, where I just wanted to know who the stories ends I finished 15 Graphicaudio books. I think the story could have been shortened without loosing anything. From the beginning two things were predictable: One (and even more) person was Demon possessed and this person will die. And also there will be an Elemental involved, whom we meet again in book 9.
I liked Rylee and Mayer killed off some of the good guys. Two deaths were not really necessary and didn't feel right.
I would say this is a drawn out series, but okay, to listen for free in the graphic audio version. Stay away from the series if you tend to dnf series and hate it if the author kills beloved important side charcters.

First off, Graphic Audio went all out with the sound effects, especially in the background with vampires feeding and such. A+++++!
This one I wasn't too happy about everyone separating from each other again, but it was nice how everything came together and all the pieces started connecting. I'm so intrigued to see how things are going to go as we reach the big ending and what other people/creatures we pick up in the fight against Orion!

What a great series of audiobooks! I just have 2 small complaints. 1) whoever is voicing the ‘crying’ scenes- it sounds SO fake. 2) please, there is no need to have background music and moaning during the sex scenes. It makes it sound like a porn movie. Lol.

More Character Connections

This book is a non stop action packed thrill ride. Spoilers, allies die. My lord Mayer is heading toward GRR Martin in the body count arena. Liam, is going to die, not in this book, but first Doran says Rylee will have another love, but non as great as Liam. Then Giselle (spirit) in the start of this book tells Liam in private his time is coming to a close. I already want to get teary eyed, but it's Mayer's world and I only read it.
I do believe that Rylee needs a little more empathy along with the hacking and as a reader I am finally seeing that. Just because a creature is ugly and pissed doesn't make them evil.
Also enough with the new characters, while shuttling Eve, and killing off others.

Another excellent and exciting installment in the Rylee Adamson series. This book finds Rylee finally completing one of her many "missions". There was a lot going on in this book, setting up much for what is to come, I think. I expect even more heartbreak in future books and am not looking forward to it. This is the sixth book in the series and I do not recommend reading it without first having read the others, as it is truly in the middle of some events set into motion from previous books. This one ends on a relatively calm note (the calm before the storm, likely), which is nice. (I'm not one for a cliffhanger ending.)

It is a fun series. It look me a while to pick it up again. I really enjoy my romance in books if just one or two times in a urban fantasy. But if it lacks all romance it is hard for me to stick with a series.
I think I am just a Romance sucker.... I keep hoping that dorian will make a move of that we get to read a hot scene with Liam...
But alas nothing! It almost starts to read as a new YA, where are all the gory stuff that keeps the adults satisfied?
Am I the only one that skipped the Liam threads? :(

Interesting twists in this installment- the prophecy becomes clearer and closer and Rylee realizes her place and responsibility. She becomes stronger as a leader and begins to trust her instincts more, while keeping her 'no planning' motto. Her 'family' is growing and new bonds are made, very surprising allies as well.

Rylee as a character drew me in; I'm a sucker for a warrior with swords. The first couple of books were fun jaunts & while I had issues with some decisions the characters made, I wasn't going to let it get in the way of a good time.
Book 6 is where I am out. Rylee should not be this dumb. I'm also angry that there hasn't been more back story for her and her mate, Liam. He was an FBI agent assigned to her when she was 16 and then spent the next 10 years trying to nail her for the murder of her kid sister. I have so many questions about this time, but the books start with this history in place, and now they're lovers and he's a werewolf.
Speaking of, if you're looking for spice, these books ain't it. there are a lot of things I'm willing to forgive if the spice hits but you're not even giving me that, so...
I am curious to see how she saves Berget from becoming a vampire empress. I'm curious if she finally kills Faris. I'm curious of Liam dies but then comes back as the Great Wolf and that's how their love story ends? If she's supposed to 'love another' does that mean that they'll have a kid, not that she'll be in a different relationship?
These are questions that I'm willing to leave unanswered because these characters are just obnoxious / annoying to spend more time with, and life is too short for that shit.

This series made me want to torture the author. I am so mad at who died. I don't think I have cried like this over a book in a long long time. I avoid any book that says emotional etc. This series has so much action and many MANY Awesome side characters who I loved. I hope the ones lost pop up in her other series With Lark which I'll be starting next. But then again If it makes me cry maybe I shouldn't. Great author even though I am mad at her for the ultimate sacrifice which I kinda thought would happen but was hoping I was wrong. I had the pleasure of listening to this on GraphicAudio and I think that made me cry even more. great experience. I rarely dislike anything GA has done. 97% of all I have listened to I enjoyed. so much action in this series NEVER ever a dull moment. as you read you almost want the lull. like dang is there ever a break lol. I am happy I have ventured into this authors work. And also extremely glad it was not all based on MMC and FMC. and to much open door stuff. It was a great ride. great fill of time waiting for my other favorite author Amelia Hutchins to come out with another

this is a phenomenal series! and heart-wrenching! seriously, this is one of the best book series I laid my hands on! and I'm still surprised at how Shannon managed to make me absolutely fall in love with Alex without me even noticing. and I hate and love so many characters. and so many feels in between. I was absolutely horrified and started crying when I read about( spoiler alert!!!!)
Liam being skinned alive!! and when he said he was dying!!!! I was so horrified! but once again,just like Mayer did with Eve, she really worked with my emotions ruthlessly , and seemingly brought him back to life. I don't want to go on details,as I loved everything! but here is another of my fav scenes. when doran was-for lack of a better term-crowned. it was shocking at how strong and compassionate we found him to be when he sucked rylee's blood. and for once I respected and loved him. even with his cheesy horny pick up lines. he is after all a vampire. not quite and ogre or a troll, but still a vampire.
After all, I loved every part of it! another bull's eye for Shannon! keep it up!

All Rylee wants to do is track missing children, treat and be treated fairly but she keeps getting involved in supernatural goings on. The equinox is near, Rylee’s enemies are candidates and she’s blackmailed into helping one. Along the way, ogre friend, Dox, and a helpful coven of shamans are lost as raw emotion hampers intrepid tracker Rylee’s re-revised crew.
Giselle makes an appearance giving sage advice to the crew and giving Millie a way back into the fold but making Liam back up. Without sage words from Giselle, Rylee takes Alex on her visit Duran before she has to help Faris’ rid the universe of the child empress. Liam’s looking after witches, Millie and Pam since the dragon and harpy are on special assignment.
Rylee’s sad about what’s been lost but she also has an overfull cup of good things including help from an unexpected ally, favors being repaid when no repayment was required wrapping this outing on a higher note than usual but it’s the calm before the storm as everyone gets a good night’s sleep.

Faris is blackmailing Rylee to help him become the vampire leader by killing her sister. She agrees that Berget must be stopped but killing her is something she’s having a hard time accepting. Accompanied by Doran and Alex they set out to find the Lost Blood and set up the new leader.
Meanwhile Liam is struggling with the read he got from Giselle’s ghost as well as having to deal with Milly as they try and stop the new guns that work on supernaturals.
This book is basically non stop – there is the struggles Rylee is going through, he growth of Doran and Alex. And Liam has his own fights. It all fits together perfectly.
There is action, a lot of suspense, surprises, and humour.
These books have a multitude of supernaturals – witches, shifters, vampires -both regular and day walkers, shamans, ogres, trolls, brownies, dragons and more. Not to mention Rylee who is the lone tracker and seemingly more from different comments made.

I enjoyed this series, especially seeing how it intertwined with the Elemental Series. However, I'm not so sure my teenagers would enjoy it. There is a fair amount of language and gore that even I skipped through. In addition to that there are some sex scenes to skip over, and a few crude/lewd moments that I could have done without. I understood the language was a way of distinction with the Trackers in that world, and if it hadn't been for how well done the story was I don't think I would have finished the series.
I did appreciate the moral to the series, that love for family and friends really can help us conquer the darkness in our lives. I also liked how the chain of events that was her life was realized at the end in a way that led her to where she was, and how necessary those events were to building who Riley was and developing why she was loved so much by her"family ".
