Czy przebudzone w nich moce i siła przyjaźni wystarczą, by uratować wyspę?

Ocena totalnie subiektywna.
The first book impressed me, mostly because I didn't expect anything. Now I knew that the language was good and the story engaging, so I was in for the ride (pun intended), when we continued on in the second book.
And it continues on where the second one stopped. Now the fantasy-elements becomes more and more obvious, and there's more magic. More evil backstabbing bad guys. The scary stuff becomes scarier, so to speak.
At times I thought this would be a bit to scary for kiddo who is just 8½ years old. But she was on the edge of her seat, urging me on to continue reading since IT WAS SO EXCITING and she wanted to know how the girls would make it from the tight spot they were in.
Interestingly enough at one fo the hero girls moves I face palmed quite a bit since ever since they ended up friends they kept saying they were strongest together... and in this book they split up?!? Dumb. But the saving grace here is that the girls themselves come to the conclusion that yes, that was really dumb to split up like that. So they agreed with me. Ha ha ha! Even kiddo said that that was stupid of them to do, even if she being closer to the reading group this is written for, said she could see why they'd do it. Fair, fair...
This book was surprisingly good to. And I've come to care for the four girls, the more I read about them. Also, bonus! It's not just blonde little girls here, but one of them is a coloured girl dark of skin and dark of hair. Well done there, writer!
I guess we'll continue on with the next one tomorrow if kiddo gets her wish...
Okay. So, I thought my bit of disconnect with Jorvik Calling was due to not having the time/energy/what have you to really get into it, but now I’ve realized it’s not that but rather just the regular vague disconnect I typically have with MG books these days.
There are four girls we’re following, but because the story uses head hopping a lot of the time and we don’t focus enough on the characters themselves I didn’t find myself connecting with any of them at all. Also, a good 60% of the book was them scattered doing the things we left off with at the end of book one—which isn’t a bad thing but could have been cut down a bit to make the pacing flow more as most of the mission part of this book felt rushed and sloppy because of that long lag time in the beginning. And this could be from the translation process, but I also was confused more than once on descriptions of certain places (the DC oil platform was the main one I had trouble picturing) and the passing of time during travel—it felt clunky and not at all urgent when it needed to be.
Also, would it really have been that far out of the way to go pick an apple to safeguard against the possibility of evil stuff happening? Because that was a dumb move and didn’t do much except tell me the good guys are kinda stupid. 😂
The fall tone and atmosphere was done really well and the bad guys are especially creepy and dark—not to mention the whole swamp scene was properly terrifying. And the cover is gorgeous, not gonna lie they got a great cover designer for these.
The ending doesn’t have me wanting to immediately jump into book three, but I will still probably finish the series.
Content: 3 misuses of God’s name; injuries and blood; magic, magical powers, magical creatures and places; light versus darkness; a horse drowns; talk of sacrificing horses in an evil ritual (it doesn’t happen)
This still was a fun book to read when you're in a reading slump. It's kind of dark for a kids' book, but it stays good. All the Soul Riders say that they have to stay together at all costs, but then they split up to save their horses. I understand that the author wrote it like that to make the plot more interesting, but I am happy that they realised that after that, that was kind of dumb.

This book has a lot of cool action! The beginning part sees the girls all on their own missions. I like that they have to first individually learn through this experience that they are much stronger together and not powerful enough on their own, they all just make it.
You could feel the desperation Alex felt when Linda was slowly dying and Alex couldn’t go faster with Tin-Can because they had already exhausted themselves riding to get to Lindain time. What I also enjoyed was learning about what it feels like to be in Pandoria, I think the author described it really well, as the unreality that Pandoria is supposed to be. I imagine it like extreme Brain Fog with Forgetfulness.
Lisa scene with Katya was also cool, it made Katya seem very dangerous en non-human. What I didn’t expect was that Meteor got rescued so quickly after being kidnapped. I thought that would be a separate storyline like with Starshine in the first book, but I see it as a positive that the story didn’t repeat itself with that. John Sands diary was necessary to read to get a better understanding why he joined Garnok. Although I’m not clear on the fact that Mr. Sands either just wants revenge or if he thinks he can revive his dead fiancé with Garnok’s powers plus the revenge for what they did to his fiancé. I like the last option better, sounds like a better reason to me.
After those missions, there is a small resting period. You could feel the girls being glad that they were back together and we learned about Fripp, Elizabeth and the druids some more. We learn about the Light Ceremony Book and that they are the last Soul Riders. It felt nice to get a short ‘resting period’ after the action that came before, although it was quite short.
I definitely enjoyed the Cauldron Swamp quest after that and never would have expected Calliope to actually die! I was pleasantly surprised because I thought they would never do that in a book where the target audience are children and the game that it’s based on is also pretty peaceful in general. So I loved that they actually had consequences and there were actual stakes to the quests not just danger that feels fake. Also surprised what happend to Elizabeth. Didn’t see those things coming, which is a plus for me!
It was nice to read about the race to the golden apple because that was also mentioned in the game. It felt nice and victorious reading that the enemy girls fell into the ravine. I wonder when we will come across them again.
I’m very excited for the next book and what will happen. There is only one book left but it feels like I’m just in the middle of the story, so I wonder how they will bridge that. I hope the end isn’t suddenly sped up just to fit an ending. Can’t wait to read it.
The only critique for me is that I wished the ‘rest period’ in the middle was a little longer. It felt like Action-Tiny Rest- Action. I would’ve also liked to see the girls hone their skills a bit with training. Still not enough to be very skilled, just like two days before the flood began. Other than that I really liked the book.

Step into the second installment of the massively popular adventure game Star Stable, and follow four friends who discover their magic powers and learn that every girl can be a hero in this fantasy trilogy.
The Soul Riders series tells the heroic tale of four young girls who have been chosen by destiny to save the world from the ancient demon: Garnok and his band of dangerous Dark Riders.
Having split up on their own individual missions at the end of book 1, the Soul Riders are now in increasing danger. In a desperate act, Anne manages to save her friends by using her newfound magical abilities. Together again, the Soul Riders feel their powers intensify as they work in unison for the first time. The legend awakens as they start their training with the druids and learn who they are and what it means to be a Soul Rider.
To truly master their powers they must obtain a book that is kept by the witch Pi who was once an ally to the druids, but now has turned on them. When they return to the druids, they learn that a magical rift has been opened up threatening to destroy Winter Valley and the thousands who live there. Linda has visions of the dark and terrible fate that awaits if the Dark Riders succeed. But worst of all, they realize that they are the ones who caused the rift and have no choice but to ride out together to try and neutralize the threat . . .
The Legend Awakens is the second installment in the epic, fantasy trilogy, Soul Riders, about magic, friendship, and horses bound to thrill all young equestrian fans.

MY THOUGHTS:
I received this book in exchange for my honest review.
Another perfect fit for those who are into the game “Star Stable.” As with all sagas, you’ll find adventures galore, missions to be fulfilled and great dangers to overcome. There will be suspense and thrills along the way as each character grows and develops, discovering things about their own abilities as the story progresses. Tension builds constantly and one threat after another challenges the characters’ strengths and weaknesses.
Characters are strong and well-developed, each moving closer to their own personal goals. Many things going on in this book. I would greatly suggest that the reader starts with the first book before tackling this one to understand the theme and story-line. I enjoyed the writing and can see this saga becoming popular with middle graders.

This book contains quite a few curse words which I don't think is appropriate for the target audience of 8-12 year olds!!!
The last part of the book was ok and had a nice flow, but other than that this wasn't a favorite. The first part of the book was incredibly slow paced and could have been much shorter. Helena Dahlsgrens writing style is very descriptive and sometimes her descriptions become quite vague. There is a lot of text without much actually happening. This kind of writing style absolutely works in a lot of books but perhaps not a book written for middleschoolers. She writes her main characters very well and gives a lot of backstory and depth, but with four main characters this makes for a lot of text and not so much action, which might work better in a longer book for an older audience.
Not really a big spoiler, it’s mostly for the Online game that takes place at least one or two years after the event of the Trilogy. Depending on how much they are planning on changing the Main Story like they said they would years ago.
………………………………
The second book felt a bit too slow in the beginning. I prefer “Spirit Animal #1” when it comes to pacing, and how it actually felt like you had more time to learn about an organization, and actually do training. Probably not a fair thing to compare The Greencloaks from both Spirit Animals & Online to the Druids from both Star Stable Online & books. But couldn’t help it while reading. You’ll probably understand what i mean once your on or pass Chapter 27, since that is when things finally starts to picks up. And yes it is an actual thing in both “Star Stable Online” and “Starshine Legacy”. That the four main horses can actually talk, but mostly to their Soul Riders (even your Starter Horse can talk but only certain points in the Main Quest). Which is why i’m kinda waiting for them to talk but they haven’t yet. Hopefully they will in book three, but if not then they better have an explanation for it.
Nic interesujacego. No i byl krotszy. Byl takim wprowadzeniem do tego swiata. A 2 tom to juz jazda bez trzymanki.
In diesem läuft irgendwie alles schief.

2,5/5 English: Let's be honest, the ending saves us. Throughout almost the entire book, it dragged on like no matter what. It's only with the appearance of Pi that things start to get interesting. However, this does not change the fact that I still haven't seen what I wanted from the first volume. P.S. At least my druid sunshine appeared <3 Polski: Powiedzmy szczerze końcówka ratuje. P.S.
I see that I rated this book higher than most people did. I don't know if it's because my great granddaughter plays SSO, or because I had an Icy (Icelandic) horse that picked me as his rider every bit as much as the Soul Riders' horses picked their riders.
I love the fantasy of these books. There is enough drama and peril in these books as anyone could want unless you like totally dystopian fiction. My opinion is that the real world is sufficiently dystopian so why make Young Adult fiction so. Anyone who loves horses and fantasy should love these books, no matter the person's age.
I won this book in a Goodreads Giveaway. I kept trying, but couldn’t get into this book - likely because I had not read the first of the trilogy and am not familiar with the game that spawned these books. Strong female leads - good for younger girls and those familiar with the game. Definitely read the first book first!
After I read the first book, I was sitting at the edge of my seat waiting to know what would happen to the four girls. This book held all my attention. I can't wait for part three! It is well written and fun to read for every age. I already love the game and its storyline and it is fun to read what happened before the storyline of the game begins.
It creeps me out when Linda was attacked by one of the dark riders, I wasn't shocked that Elizabeth was turned into a will-o'-the-wisp by pi, I want to learn about the older soul riders that Elizabeth was in.
also am curious of what happened of the older soul riders, is it possible that they died, or something bad happened to them?
I play star stable (on level 22), so I know the stories, the characters, the quests. The game has a scattered tendency in the stories, the book…no coherency whatsoever. Words put in just to fill the pages. I was confused AND I play the game! I forced myself to finish and the only happiness and fulfilment I got from this book…was when I closed it.
I would say this is either for my gamers of Star Stable Online, because they understand more the places and magics, or for newbies who absolutely love fantasies paired with horses and other magics. You choose! This is by the way the best book i’ve ever read, as it’s my favorite game in a book and it helped to understand Star Stable even more!
Thank you for the opportunity you gave me for being able to have a copy and read this book but unfortunately, I was unable to finish it for personal reasons. I tried reading it but maybe, it just doesn't fit my current preferences.
This review has nothing to do with the video game, just the author and her abilities to build a world that holds imagination and is believable enough to sustain characters lives. Wonderful tasks, problems to solve in a fable style tale I would read to my grandkids as a bedtime story.
Just as good, if not better, than the first one. The Legend Awakens was darker and more intense, but oh so amazing! I was on the edge of my seat with every chapter, anxious to read more. I cannot wait to see where the story goes next!
