This book is filled with recipes I grew up eating or I grew up hearing about. My great grandparents came to America from the Azores, so I always heard stories about the great Portuguese food my grandmother and mother grew up eating. I've been lucky enough to obtain a few of the recipes from my grandmother and my aunt, so I'll keep using those. But I was happy to see some recipes for dishes I didn't know how to make. The author included a lot of recipes with easy to follow instructions, making this cookbook great for anyone wanting to try Portuguese food.
I have to admit, reading this made me hungry! I actually baked some Massa Sovada (sweet bread) today, using the recipe from my great aunt. The author's recipe sounds great, but nothing beats what you grew up with.
