A beautifully designed introduction to the Japanese concept of 'Kaizen' - the art of self-improvement.
Kaizen is a term that has long been used in the business world to emphasise constant development and transformation. But Kaizen has the power to transform all areas of life. Learn how even the smallest steps can help us to form new habits, build confidence and break down our in-built resistance to life's challenges.
Rooted in 2,000 year old wisdom, Kaizen reinforces the benefits positive change, one step at a time. With over 70 simple prompts and exercises to help you improve your health, relationships and wellbeing or save money and excel at work, everything you need to know to utilise Kaizen every day is here.
I was intrigued to find it in the self-help section of the bookstore and picked it because I know what Kaizen is as I practice it at work. Ironically, I never connected the dots to use it for my life. Happy it helped me do the connection. The concepts might sound trivial, but that’s the whole point: keep it simple and do it!
It’s a good reminder of things you might already know. I would definitely give it as a gift to a friend.
The Little Book of Kaizen is a short self-help Book, with the intent to improve the life of the reader through tasks allocated throughout.
I believe this Book has it's merits - sometimes in life we overcomplicate and overthink the things which we perhaps should not. Like reading, we ground ourselves in the moment to process the situation surrounding us.
Suzannah Lee teaches us that those moments of grounding are a necessity. The constant requirement to check in with yourself should not be viewed as a chore, but a self-care task facilitating your further improvement.
Although on the face of it, what is taught is rather simple; as a whole, I believe this book is to be treated as a push - a starting point towards something greater. We as readers may already have those ideas in our mind - but seeing the required steps to take in order to facilitate improvement of our lives in written form places emphasis on thoughts which are now turned into reality.
It is up to us to act and apply, and this book is a great starting point to do so.
