A well-known actor meets an everyday cop. What could go wrong? Everything. When Valor met his celebrity crush, Reid King, he never expected Reid would show any interest in him. While Valor isn’t lacking in confidence, Reid is considerably younger than him and could have anyone. It makes no sense for a man like Reid to want a middle-aged cop. Unless he needs someone to save him.
In reality, Reid is everything one would expect a star to be. He’s arrogant, self-absorbed, and used to having his way. When he met Valor, Reid knew he could have the man with little to no effort. He wasn’t wrong. Reid just didn’t expect he would need Valor as much as he does.
With Reid’s past exposed for public fodder, Reid is struggling with a new sense of self. As much as he wants to be with Valor, he questions his every life decision now and can’t stop ruining everything. He worries he won’t ever be whole again. All he needs is a man in blue to rescue him. If Reid will let him, that is. It’s also possible he’s not the only one who needs saving.
Charity Parkerson is an award winning and multi-published author with several companies. Born with no filter from her brain to her mouth, she decided to take this odd quirk and insert it in her characters.

I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. Perhaps because they're quick and easy reads? Hm. Every time I've finished another one, I'm left a little more depressed over what Parkerson's work has become. I remember when she used to put a little effort into her stories. Now they're just tired recycling jobs, the same story with different names, a rushed, empty, soulless offering.
Valor, a cop and Reid, an actor, both have something in common... Trigger: past child sex abuse, not detailed, only mentioned. Valor had met Reid at Milo's art gallery, and then watched Reid act in theatre in plays. Dawson and Milo were married now, plus Reid, 26, blue eyes and dark hair, a wealthy actor is younger and feisty, and Valor are interested in each other. They have talked and told some stories, and enjoyed their time together. Finally they kissed on the fourth date, and had long conversations through the night. Valor, 40, is a cop, big, strong Hawaiian, loyal and helpful to many, was then disappointed when Reid ghosted him. Yet, Valor persisted in watching Reid's acting, he was captivating. Valor and Reid's eyes met across the theatre. Reid loved acting and loved seeing Valor in the audience. Reid was rebuilding his career after the "scandal/blackmailing," but, Valor already knew about that reality. Reid was ashamed that he'd been used as a child star, and didn't want Valor to reject him as a dirty person, tainted, of for him to feel sorry for him. Reid's therapist told him it wasn't his fault, because adults he should have been safe with were to blame. Then, we have a huge revelation about Valor that Reid discovers, because Valor's spiteful Mom leaks Valor's secret. It's a rocky time, because Valor never told Reid his secret.
We have a solid pair of characters, that know they have something they share, that only the two men can relate to. They understand each other, and want forever in each others hearts and arms. Enjoy !
This is another story that deals with the complications created when one of the main characters gives into his inner survival mode telling White lies to save his own secrets thus ruining the relationship. A cute story with a wholesome found family.
Charity Parkerson can write stories that deal with dark subjects in a way that makes them not triggering. I love it because it means I never have to worry about what hard issues are in her books, I can enjoy them without problems.

I enjoyed this story. The comparison of the cop and the actor was great and their shared history of problems helped them to relate to each other. The secrets that they held from each other were a turning point and I was glad that they were finally able to discuss them. This was easy to read and the emotions in this story felt real. This was an MM story with mature content. There are mentions of historical childhood abuse in this story.
This is a story of two people that had their lives shattered at an early age. Neither one knows how to overcome the past without the other. Valor is the sexy cop who has eyes for Reid. Reid is a movie star. He could have anyone. But broken pieces of them both could crush them. Its like a forbidden topic. No one wants to address the elephant in the room until its too late. Can they both see past their pasts or be forever alone? This is one hot story that beats all the odds. I was so happy when Valor got his story. Like he is one of my favorites in this series.
This was more emotional than what I was expecting. Reid wanted to be recognized by his talent but after his past is revealed, he can't know for sure if everything after is genuine. He was so talented but didn't think he was. Valor was there for him in a way no one else could. They connected and loved each other. It's at the ending that we discover that Valor is so understanding because he went through in his past too. Those poor men. But they had each other and with the future ahead of them, anything was possible
Besides the fact that these stories seem to be nearly the same plot with different character names, I can't get past how Valor treated Reid when mom was visiting. The fact that he lied, avoided and generally treated Reid like shit were then glossed over in a matter of minutes. Yes, Valor had a trauma but of all people Reid would understand. It infuriated me, as Reid didn't deserve it. I have to remember to stop reading this series.
Oh I love Valor and Reid. Sometimes they had to hurt and find comfort in each other. Another great read from Ms. Parkerson. Can't wait for the next book and another addition to their self made family.
This was another great addition to the series. I've read seven books in this series, and enjoyed every one of them. Now, I'm about to read the next book, concerning Tobin and Sergio. Another very interesting read.
I absolutely loved the continuity of Valor and Reid from the book before their own story. I did tear up for a bit with the story but in the end they got their happy ending.
