How did I miss a three book release in December?? Going in the end game where Tia thinks it's all over, Cecil wants to put a ring on it and the 'heroine' still isn't giving up. Less Tia and more the original plot for the otome game. Boo. Pesky light spirit. Cliffhanger ending. Onwards.

Holy emotional damage rollercoaster! This volume made me cry SO MUCH. Because of the plan, of what Cecil decided to do and which just made me swoon and cry GO GO CECIL, then Heronia and her fucked up delusions and how far she was going, then that part where Cecil is stuck in the light bird's illusions which just broke my heart bit by bit and I was just shouting and screaming for him to wake UP to go back to the normal to go back to his lover Bertia who loves him. Who needs him. Who wants him. That one part where she put her hands over his ears so he couldn't hear Heronia, OMG. Girl. *cries* I am happy we got that bonus chapter because it brought some light, it was before the graduation party and featured a date and lots of cuteness, just what I needed after the darkness that was this volume.
Although I enjoy the story and I will finish the series, I must say that I truly hate the way that this and many other light novels/mangas/webtoons try to connote by a character’s “fatness” that they are supposed to be villainous or useless because this is supposed to show that they possess an indulgent nature and very self centered behavior that is “unbecoming” of someone who wants to be accepted by polite society.
Being a “fat person” isn’t and should never be linked to such negative traits simply for the sake of a plot point on how “they aren’t that kind of person anymore because they now know self restraint, and it clearly shows due to their more “socially acceptable” appearance that’s a direct result of their discipline”.
I’m tired of the “I indulged on sweets with my tea as an 8-year-old to I pushed someone down a flight of stairs and am involved in serious crimes as a teen” pipeline. How does eating things you like or having a slower metabolism/big appetite suddenly make you want to cause harm to everyone around you?
Plots like this have made me and many other people who can be considered on the “fat” spectrum feel like being nothing short of the most self restrained, meek, and unflashy child to compensate for your physical appearance will just lead you to look like an absolute villain. I’ve lived for 24 years and I have yet to be able to fully rid myself off of the horrible inner fatphobia that such toxic links in fiction have harvested in my head.
I hope one day people will stop making such cheap shots at others for their physical appearances like that’s supposed to be a fatal character flaw.
Well just finished the 3rd volume and I can say that I am reading it without a hitch. Not a literary piece nor a plot that is different and exciting the reason why I am rating this 4 star is because the plot is now interesting.
i’m torn on the ending conclusion that the reason cecil loves tia rather than heronia is because of differently they added, which sounds weird. i don’t like the idea that in a lot of villainess stories like these, the villainess basically becomes another heroine but from the modern world and not at all like how she was (evil-like). it’s why i started disliking katarina in the reincarnation manga really early on.
like their relationship progression is exactly the same for the og story but with heronia. she’s “interesting” enough to make him become a real boy, which is just so fucking stupid. like??? being nice doesn’t make u that interesting and it really doesn’t make any sense.
on one hand, i like the fact that tia did become a proper lady while heronia went through -100 character development, which cecil cites as a reason for the change. BUT usually i prefer if the villainess was still herself from the original but with more perspective, and getting turned into the heroine-2.O wasn’t the thing that caused the ml to fall in love. so i’m torn.
