This was the best book! I read it in one day, it was that good! Loved the story line between Luca and Evelyn. Definitely recommend!

Luca is ordered by his mafia boss to fly to America and find Eve, make her his and take her husband’s money. He is ordered back to Italy, leaving Eve pregnant, now six years later he wants out of the mob and Eve back. What will happen when he discovers he has a son? Fast-paced read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. A hot mafia read. I liked it.

The overall story line, plot and idea is confusing and the story does not always flow to the point that it contributes to the readers confusion and the situations and scenes could have done with more descriptions. While the story is action packed with kidnapping, hate, betrayals, greed, twists and turns and many secrets the execution was lacking and needs to have some better world building, explanations and background.
I was very confused, Luca kidnaps Eve and trains her to be his perfect wife, he mentions that he has trained many women this way and he himself was originally trained the same way, he just made some adjustments. The way Luca “trains” Eve borders on abuse by keeping her chained to the bed naked and only once he spanks and punishes her, she is allowed some water, and for more than a week she only gets fed scraps of food only enough to keep her alive. She is clearly scared of him when he takes a comb out to comb her hair, she thinks he is going to punish her. It’s typical Stockholm with her feeling grateful and love for her captor in exchange for water, food, clothing, hygiene and a kind word from her captor. I find it very sad that 6 years later she still believes she loves him especially since she has a son to care for.
The senator shows up to get his money, from my understanding he knows that Luca and Santino have done this many times. I don’t know where Eve’s husband and his money comes into play, I also don’t understand why the ex-husband is searching for her and why Luca and Santiago let her go by just leaving her there for the police to find only to return years later and endanger and leave her again.Both characters are weak and lack the ability to convince the reader of their love and likability.
Really this book is way to confusing with no clear path and too many lose ends. If the author rewrites it, this book does have the protentional to be a 5-star book.

Et la lecture/leur relation ne me captive pas assez.
euhhh finalement je me suis spoiler la fin qui m'a donné envie de lire le reste, donc j'ai fini par tout lire (en diagonal) et c'est toujours pas un chef d'oeuvre.
J'ai lu, c'etait ... boff.

C'était censé être facile. Prendre l'avion pour l'Amérique, prendre la fille et voler la pension alimentaire de son ex-mari.
Et puis je la vois.

Magnifique.
J'ai reçu l'ordre strict de ne pas la toucher. Les règles sont les règles. Mais je suis un baron, et personne ne me regarde.
Alors j'accepte ce qu'on m'a refusé. Et puis je jure de la protéger de nos ennemis.
Même si cela signifie la laisser avec un bébé pendant six ans…

Il m'embrasse cette fois avec plus de passion et de férocité qu'un lion ne dévorerait sa proie. Et c'est là que je réalise l'enjeu. Cela n'a rien à voir avec ma situation à la maison.
Je vais être la femme du Don et la mère de son enfant.

Evelyn is in a bad marriage her husband keeps cheating on her and now she's had enough. Once the divorce is done Evelyn think she is finally free but she is wrong. Luca works for the Italian mafia and they have been watching her husband and Luca has decided that he wants Evelyn for himself. Once he knows her divorce is done he moves in for Evelyn. Luca takes Evelyn to a remote place to train her to be the perfect wife for him. However just as things are starting to go smoothly his boss shows up and makes him return Evelyn and go back to Italy for business. Evelyn is stunned that he has left her but she longs for him to come back for her. Now years later Luca finds a way back to her but its not completely secure as he thinks. What will he do when he learns that he left her carrying his baby all those years before? Can they finally get their happy ending?
This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

This was a quick read and fast paced, it had drama, suspense, action, kidnapping, torture and in the end love. Evelyn Brewer is in a bad marriage to Darrin wolsky who is a cheater and abusive to her and it’s time to get out and move on, all the while the Italian mafia has been watching what’s been going on with her husband and plans there revenge and unbeknown to her she has been chosen by Luca Roccamena a hitman for the mafia to be trained as his wife. The twists and turns throughout this book leaves you a bit confused about what’s going on and then it’s 6 yrs later Luca is back wanting to win her back but he doesn’t know about his son Adian. Now with the mafia breathing down his neck and threatening his family he must return to Italy to save them both.

I really enjoyed this story, and its even better with Penelopes signature dark and many twists.
One mans overpowering love for a women. He will leave her just to protect her. But that day he had to leave left a mark on her when nine months later she gives birth to a baby. Six years later luca is given the chance to go back but will Evelyn take him back and who is that young man she is with?
If you love books by Penelope wood then you really are going to enjoy this one as well as been dark and having a few twists theirs betrayal. Just one more comment is that i really felt for Lucas character and im glad he got a real lovely HEA

This started off really well and showed so much potential. I found the MMC came across simple minded, the way he spoke and his thought process just didn't show much depth. I liked the MFC but felt she fell in love with her kidnapper far to easily for my liking. The overall story though was good, I liked the plot a lot hence three stars. It's the characters that let this down for me.

I like this author, have read other books by Penelope Woods. This was a great story, I am partial to la familia stories. This had twists and turns, love and hate, many emotions though out. Even with all Evelyn had endured she and Luca come out together in the end. Great book. Any story that I can get lost in is good with me.

At the beginning I couldn't cope
When I started this book seems so incredibly dark I didn't think I could read further but I'm glad I did. At the beginning I thought of Evelyn as being weak but by the end she proved me wrong. I even grew to love Luka. This was a hard book to read and may trigger some but I'm glad I took a chance and read it to completion.

I thought the storyline was good. The main characters could’ve used more substance but overall not bad. I enjoyed reading it. And boy did she have courage to do what she did, that was smart. When your family is being attacked what will you do ? At what lengths are you willing to go to protect them ?

Fantastic read!!
Evelyn is just trying to get free from her farce of a marriage. She has plans to start over and maker her life better. Too bad Luca has other plans for her and they include training her to be the perfect obedient wife and mother. This story is intriguing and full of twists and turns. This is a great read and I highly recommend it!

This book was so freaking good I'm speechless
I absolutely loved this book! I couldn't put it down once i started. It was everything you want in a dark romance. And oh boy the sexy scenes were hot as hell!

This was a great story. This is a standalone with a HEA. I love this author and her way with forging a true romance these two had stellar chemistry. This is a mafia romance with lots of action also
