If there existed a person more infuriatingly arrogant, entitled, or capable of raising Leonie Morrison's hackles than Jonas Bauer, she'd be hard-pressed to find him. He stands for everything she hates and has everything her heart wants... even if she'd die before admitting that might include the man himself.
Jonas Bauer's plan was to acquire and sell off the family-run Silver Ridge Resort...until he arrived in Silverton and it felt like something he hadn't realized his frozen heart yearned for. Or perhaps, it isn't the place, but a person-the youngest Morrison.
When the two of them are forced to work together, they find congeniality where they least expected it. All Jonas can see now is a future with Leo, despite her apparent loathing of him. Leo wants to succumb to the sparks she never saw coming and let go of the hatred. But when the truth comes out, will Leo be able to look past the betrayal and see Jonas not for the monster she always thought he was, but a man who accepts her for all she is?
4.5 stars The most anticipated, Leo & Jonas's story has been teasing since the last 3 books.
Leo, the youngest Morrison, loathes the infuriating, arrogant & entitled Jonas Bauer. Jonas is the new mountain manager & investor at Leo's family resort, who did his best to save the legacy but was never seen as a good guy in Leo's eyes.
Leo is such a fire character. She's a hot head, loyal friend, amazing sister. But lately all her friends & brothers are either happily married or are on the way, she feels lonely & alone.
Jonas, the half German ski-loving, stern, stone faced, introvert, is a perfect gentleman. He's kind & awkward but gorgeously handsome.
They both had exact same banter as Mr Darcy & Elizabeth Bennet, constantly pushing each other's buttons, fighting (in case of Leo) & disagree (in case of Jonas). These two keep stealing glances & fighting with each other but no matter how much they tried they couldn't ignore the attraction & spark. I loved how everything was going on normal ( according to their standards which is clashing, burning, frowning) but a simple migraine and a bag of soup & bread changed their whole rapport. How they couldn't stay away from each other & decided to give the relationship a go, while still fighting & disagreeing.
With 4 happy couples, 3 weddings & 1 proposal later, it's time to say goodbye to the Morrisons & the beautiful town of Silverton.
Being book #4 in the series we have already seen glimpses of Leo and Jones. They are both very strong characters, which interested me when I found out they were the focus of this book. But I loved it! I loved their dynamic and the fact that Jonas can go toe to toe with Leo.
This is such a *sweet* and strong book. Showing Leo in a whole new light that I’m so glad I got to see!
Just book candy:} Hallmark movie esque without the woman in makeup 24-7 and the guy in a scarf with helmet hair:} I love a good hallmark as long as it's original and lately none of them have been. So I must return to my books to get good love stories. I enjoyed this one. I just like the way Cain writes. She just does it for me:} These two are not your typical characters. She is fiery with a hot temper and he is blunt and rude. Both have their reasons but overall the personality of these two just was fun to read. These are clean but there is closed door sex before marriage.
Jonas is the character I liked most in this book. His drive to succeed make him a wealthy man. Someone who knows what he wants and makes it happen. When he arranged investing for the family ski lodge that Leoni had been working all her life to manage she was crushed. But not defeated. She was just as driven to go after what she wanted. Jonas is very attracted to her but is unsure how to approach her in a non business related way. He was the most respectful hero in any book I have read. It wouldn't fit his character but I think he is also sweet. With all the roadblocks thrown in their way they still managed a happy ending.
I think this is a series that I have read out of sequence because it seemed like all Leoni's brothers had a back story. I would have enjoyed it more if I knew what went on before Jonas came to town to change all their lives.
While I liked the book and the story, it is impressive that Ms. Cain wrote what I consider some of the most sensual kissing without going any further. Well done. You can feel the connection between these two and the sparks are flying. I had been waiting to see what would happen with Leo and Jonas, but was a bit disappointed in Leo. Her ongoing refusal to look inside herself and realize just what was in front of her and not communicating well was disappointing. This is not a bad observation, just my personal perspective. I think I wanted a different sequence to this, that’s most likely my disappointment.

I don’t generally go for enemies to lovers, but I love Claire Cain’s books and have enjoyed this series, so gave it a go. Overall, I liked it. Leonie and Jonas were interesting, unique characters and had strong, distinct voices. The early tension wasn’t drawn out as much as some enemies to lovers because Jonas is so direct, but his directness is so refreshing and compelling that it made up for it. The overall plot was predictable, but interesting characters were able to carry the book. Maybe not a reread, but some great lines to look back at!
Leo and Jonas are indeed fire and ice until the fire starts to thaw that ice and fireworks continue. Once again, the family and friends dynamics are so fun and brutally honest. Everyone's relationships are sizzling, and Leo feels left out and left behind. Enter the intense Jonas who only has eyes for Leo, and the roller coaster romance is on. It's such a great story with a sweet ending.
Leo is the youngest of the Morrison family. She teaches ski lessons to the young kids, and she wants to run the entire resort. Jonas comes into town to help the family with the resort. Leo pretty much despises him because he wants to take over the resort. Tropes: small town romance, strong female heroine, enemies to lovers, grumpy and sunshine
l loved watching these two butt heads throughout the series. To see them get their own HEA, with the same bickering passion...I loved it. Wouldn't change a thing. This is my favorite book in this series, from an auto-buy author.
All tension and anger flies away eventually. I love the slow affection that builds on her side, plus the fact that he had fallen for her way before she realized she liked him. So romantic.
I’ve waited for their story and it did not disappoint. These two have been favorites of mine with the push/pull, love/hate. This whole small town of characters I fell in love with and it made for the perfect binge read. If you haven’t picked this up you are missing out.
Really enjoyed this but it didn't fully stick the landing for me hence the 4 stars.
Hahahaaa, I said RTC, then I forgot about it, so mooonnnnths later I can't remember half of what I wanted to say.
With Cain, I realise I struggle a little with her "quieter" stories as they hit a patch where they swing into boring territory for me. Her stories that have more fractious pairings seem to be where we jive together, like this one (and 'Almost Sure' for reference).
In this, Leonie has been suspicious of Jonas since date dot. She thinks he's trying to silently take over her family's business so she treats him as an outsider and an interloper. Jonas, is kinda just trying to do his job, or so it seems. So the first little bit of this read was me trying to be patient with Leonie as a character, because by intention, she's argumentative, impulsive, and impatient. All beautiful growth arc factors.
What helped all this was at the start the pacing on point (which is the standard for Cain), so it doesn't take an age for the dynamics of Leonie and Jonas' relationship to start shifting. And through these shifts the chemistry was popping off the walls and I was super on board and seated for what was to come.
It was great to see that Leonie was actually valid in her suspicions of Jonas, as we come to find out her fears were actually true, or at least at the outset. We then enter the communication peace of Jonas figuring out does he choose love or business, and Leonie processing her hurt at the betrayal she feels.
This book had all the ingredients but as I said it didn't quite stick the landing. While I loved the pairing, and mostly enjoyed Leonie as a character, I felt that some of her "failings" weren't addressed enough by the final resolution to feel completely satisfied with the read. Super subjective, and that's why it's a 4 instead of a 5 stars.
I'll continue reading about Cain's body of work, but will probably pick and choose based on plot, rather than taking a completionism approach.

This book has quickly claimed a spot on my list of all-time favorite romances. This sweet, enemies to lovers finale in the Silver Ridge Resort series grabbed my heart and held on tight.
I adore Leo, whose tough, “too-much” personality has scared off men too intimidated to stick around to discover her soft heart. I’m stupidly in love with Jonas, whose stoic workaholic tenacity makes him exactly the right man to meet that challenge. If I could move to Silverton and stare up at the mountain all day, I would.
It wasn’t a book I devoured in a day. I savored it bite by bite, reveling in the tension, the sparks, & the fire between these two. You don’t have to read the whole series to appreciate this one, but you’ll catch glimpses of their interactions, and get to know Leo more, through the other books. If you like an emotional, low-steam, high-swoon romance, absolutely add this one to your list!
