Long ago, a prophecy revealed that only a mysterious Sinister Artisan who mastered the three magical Arts would bring peace to the land of Arcashala. Born and raised in Paris, Esraa is a fifteen-year-old Artisan who can't be bothered with the plight of her people back in Arcashala. She cares only about herself — and her younger brother. Watching over Alex, is work enough. Especially given his passion for flying his pet dragon off the Eiffel Tower! Esraa would much rather learn magic. Unfortunately, her magic always backfires. If only she wasn’t left-handed . The only person who could help, the left-handed Master Gesar, is in Arcashala, hiding from Montesang, the evil ruler of the land . But after Montesang issues a new order to wipe out every last left-handed Artisan in Paris, Esraa can no longer afford to remain uninvolved. Forced to leave her home to find Master Gesar, she will embark on an incredible journey with Alex to a magical world that will change their lives, and the meaning of sinister , forever. Anna Adams was in the US Navy, also working on a business degree full-time, when her first child was born. That little guy changed her life--created priorities. She wanted her children to grow up, believing they could do the most unlikely things.
Like writing--which she'd done since she was old enough to force someone to listen to stories and then old enough to pick up a pencil and a piece of paper.
She switched to an English degree--and ignored her husband when he asked if she planned to "open an English store," and eventually found jobs doing any kind of writing. And she learned to write books.
Twenty-something books later, she's a USA Today Bestseller, and she's still believes in unlikely things. Like true love that everyone can believe in.
I’m a lot older than the target audience, but I have enjoyed the other books Adams has put out so I was excited to get my hands on this book.
If you have siblings this story will resonate with you between Esraa’s fierce protection of Alex and their never ending teasing of each other. She paints a throughly realistic bond between them.
Even though I loved the story I still give it a 4 because the pacing of the story was a little odd, it was too fast and too easy. Also because she kept calling Esraa’s character selfish and I never saw that to be true. Esraa is a scared child and by all rights should be.
I am looking forward though to the next installments and to see where the siblings take us.
Finally some more by Anna Adams Love this novel really. Although I am not much into fantasies but this, damn its amazing!. The sweet somewhat cute bond between brother and sister is beautifully portrayed. The whole transformation process was literal fun .The awesome fantastical names that just doesn't leave the lips and I personaly liked Esraa's personality. The second half of the story gets way more interesting Overall nicely plotted , and I would say that this part shouldn't be missed. Even those who aren't into fantasies would like it cause it isn't the same typical fantasy stuff but is postively unique.
