Shadows opens up with Jon Eisenhart, aka, Eyes, and Carl Schwartz, aka, Sleep on a mission that goes all wrong and will forever change their lives. When they make it out, they’re eventually invited into a new team, where they come together with Tyrell Rice, aka, Smoke, Steve Bregon, aka, Brackish, and Hendrick Meeks, aka, Green. All five men are former Special Forces who know how to work hard and play harder. Unbeknownst to all of them is it might not be just their lives on the line — it might be their hearts, and these fierce warriors might just feel their feet knocked out from beneath them without ever seeing it coming.
Carl Schwartz meets Avery Klum, a defense attorney getting the wrong men released back on the streets. He thinks he’s going to bring justice to those without a voice, but maybe she’ll be the one bringing something to his life he didn’t need or even know he wanted. Can he walk away from the woman when his new mission starts? Or will he fall in the line of duty? It’s not going to be an easy decision, and it might be taken out of his hands.
If you love romance, passion, action and men you’ll want to come and rescue you, then dive on in for this brand new series people haven’t been able to put down.
Nobody likes sexy men, sassy heroines, and emotionally charged books, right? WRONG! We all want to feel extraordinary when we read, and that's exactly what you'll get when you pick up a Melody Anne book. She has the feel-good stories of a damsel in distress with prince charming riding in to save the day . . . and she also has emotionally charged books that take you through a journey of emotion as you try to figure out if you love or hate the characters as they find themselves. What you get at the end of every Melody Anne book is a resolution that has you begging for more.
Melody Anne is a NYT best selling author of more than 70 books about strong women, strong families, and sexy strong men. Each series has its own theme, and each is different. This book is action packed from page 1! We're back with the Anderson family and one of the worst things has happened, Katherine Anderson, matriarch of the huge family has been attacked and is fighting for her life. Joseph Anderson can't believe this could or would happen to his loving wife and plans to correct this horrible wrong!
I normally don't care too much for books that go back and forth between time and between characters. This book is so well written that even though there are several story lines woven into the story is smoothly transitions throughout the book. Really great read!
Book one in the new romantic suspense series Anderson Special Ops and what a great way to start the series with Carl Schwartz and Avery Klum’s story. Melody Anne is an author I follow and I was intrigued with how she would weave her words in this new direction of romantic suspense. Avery is a defence attorney and Carl a member of an elite specials forces team, so on the face of it two people from very different walks of life but you know what the say about opposites attract.... They meet while Carl is spending time at home and from the moment they meet sparks fly, they share some intense sizzling chemistry and it looks like love is in the air but what happens when Carl gets his next mission, how will Avery cope with her man gone with no contact on a mission that could have dangerous consequences........ A story that will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat as you join the Anderson Special Ops team, this book has plenty going on, it’s about suspense, mystery, love and family because this story wouldn’t be be complete without our old favourite Joseph Anderson making some appearances.
I loved this book and especially getting to visit with Joseph and family again. I shed some major tears with this one. Love the Special Ops and all the guys that Chad gathered for the team. Looks like Melody Anne and John Henley are going to have a fantastic series on their hands and I want to make sure I get to read them all.
Intriguing!! This was a great beginning to the new series. All the action from the start was heartbreaking. I loved getting to know the guys in the new team. They’re all very interesting characters and I look forward to learning more about them. I also really enjoyed watching the blooming romance between Avery and Carl. I hope we get to see a little more about them in the remaining stories.
Great story line and wonderful way of getting to know all the characters. I feel I need to read the books that came before this one so I can learn more about the Anderson family!
After reading Jasmine Anderson's story, I needed to go back and get the backstory. Now her story makes perfect sense. I have a slight issue with one of the character's story, but overall, it's all good.
You can't judge a book by it's cover or after reading half. I was about to make that mistake of leaving this book as dnf because after finishing half the book which was about Carl and Avery and Joseph waiting at the hospital for Katherine, made me think that the next half of the book will be rushed towards forming the team and finding the full drug ring and eliminating them. If that would have been the case I would have given this book 3 stars and will not be bothered to read the next one in this series. But this book was like a pilot episode for an exciting series and I am so thankful that the story didn't go as I predicted because I definitely started to love the characters in it.
*This is a review of the all the five books in this series * Great stories about love and the challenges all the couples has to go through to find their happy ending. Many familiar characters makes their appearance. The author’s writing style is easygoing and makes these books a joy to read. No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings Good dialogues Lots of emotions All this makes good books.
Talk about a huge emotional roller coast... I have to admit I wasn’t sure about the two clearly different storylines at first, even though they linked together in parts it felt a bit disjointed normally Melody Anne’s stories are smooth and seamless so I’m putting this down to her working with a new writer, in the end it didn’t distract me to much and I still loved the story but I’ll be honest it wasn’t as good as all of Melody Anne’s previous books which all exceeded 5 stars for me this one is just a five star because it still blew my heart strings away especially with Katherine! The Anderson’s are the reason I initially fell in love with this author oh so many, many years ago, I have never missed a book and never will and a I’m excited for more in this wonderful new series.
I typically really enjoy Melody Anne books but this one was a bummer for me.
I get that 'The Anderson's' are her bread and butter but their side of the story line in this seemed super unnecessary. The synopsis made no mention that half the book would be spent on another Anderson side story that wasn't romance at all.
I liked Avery and Carl, I think more time should have been spent on their story and bulking up their romance, it was all that was needed.
The book starts with two parallel stories that get together at the end. It's kind of interesting at first, because we soon see where it is headed, but it's also strange because for most of the time it feels a little disconnected and the jumps from one to the other. On one side we have the story of character we arleady know and love if we like to read Melody's books, it's about the Andersons. It starts with Katherine being attacked, and Joseph losing it. While we are going through everything that happens to Katherine and later discoveries about her health, we also go over the last mission that SEALs Eyes and Sleep go together, and then to Sleep's life out of the military. As I said, it's easy to see where this is headed, as soon Joseph is looking for a way to make the ones that hurt his wife pay, and assembles a team of expert to find the one responsible, and that's where the two stories merge, as the team gets together and Sleep is one of them. Only we have been following Sleep falling in love with a woman that is in another city, and then that story is left to the side. It feels like Sleep's love story was rushed at the end, as we have a very unsatisfactory, for me, ending to that love story, as everything falls together in just a few pages, we no real build up. It's like they started to focus on what was going on with the team, and then remembered that they were also writing about Sleep and had to close that side of the story, and they did, but it felt almost like an afterthought.
I read a few books out if order and had missed this set of books in the series so it was so good to finally start to fill in the missing pieces. I am excited to see where this set takes us.
I really enjoyed the 1st book of this new series. I look forward to reading the other books. I love the love between Katherine, and Joseph. Joseph would do anything for his wife. When his wife was attacked, he came up with a plan to find out who hurt her. The team that will be working together, is all former Military. I loved the bond that building between the team members. When the action starts, I know they’ll have each other’s backs. They are serious when they need to be, but they have one team member that kept us laughing. I really did enjoy this book.
The storylines in this book kept me so intrigued from how Carl aka Sleep and Jon aka Eyes were brothers in battle to the making of the Special Ops Team created by Joseph Anderson. Focusing on Carl and Avery's blooming relationship and weather or not it can survive Carl leaving. The pull between these two is strong is this something that Joseph and his meddling friends put into motion. Meanwhile Joseph and his family learn of Katherines tumor and rally around her. Several tissue moments for me and some laugh out loud ones as well.
The book starts out a lot military. The back and forth from current to back to years was a little confusing at 1st, But then once I understood what the author was doing I was okay with it. The 1st story is a good introduction telling who everybody is I wish I could have seen the ending of the romance part But I understand all in good time. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
I’ve been a fan of Melody Anne for some time now and always enjoyed her books, but WOW, what a fantastic collaboration with John Henley. The result, a great read that I couldn’t put down. A wonderful start for this new series and I can’t wait to read book 2.
This book is slightly different since she wrote about two different things at the same time until everyone was intertwined together.
I cried and smiled at so many times. You will feel all the emotions these characters have during this story. That's what I love about Melody Anne's books.
What a book. Could not put it down. Had tears in my eyes at some parts then burst out laughing at others. It was good reading about the Anderson’s again and loving the new team. I loved Clay and Avery. I was stunned when I found out who got Avery her job in Seattle but I was then I was mad at myself as I should have realised who was behind that. The meddler as usual as he cannot help himself.
I love the Anderson family!! They are so strong and determined. Joseph and Katherine's love is so timeless! I love this group if men that Joseph assembled. I think they will do a lot of good. I can't wait to read the rest of the series, what a great start to the series!
I used to read this author’s book all the time I felt like they because a little repetitive so I switched to another author. I saw this book and thought let’s give them another try. I truly enjoyed this book. It was well written. I will Definitely go to the next book in the series of books.
After getting thru this first book I understand that it was laying the foundation for the series. It’ll be interesting to see how the stories unfold, interconnect and resolve.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Melody. I love the Andersons. At first , I felt like I was reading two different books but quickly figured out where it was going. The characters are engaging and interesting. I look forward to the rest of the series.
I’ve been follow the Anderson family for several years…have never been disappointed with character development or the plots. I lived in the areas she bases her books. Love them.
Love these series of books makes me smile all the way through. Who wouldn’t want to fall for the tough macho soft hearted guys. Author is pretty damn good too.
