Rock Bottom #1

Trouble with the Guy Next Door

Rate this book
From the author of Where Good Girls Go to Die, comes a fun, passionate friends-to-lovers romance that readers say "took all of my insecurities, wants, thoughts, fantasies, and needs and brought them to life." -Beauty and the Books

Guys like Tucker Moore don't date girls like me.

His boring ol' washboard abs look like they were sculpted by the gods, and I have more curves than a backroad in a country song.

He can charm the panties off anyone, but I am better off hiding behind my camera lens.

He's my next-door neighbor and the definition of a bad idea.

I have no business thinking about him, and I should have pushed him out of my dreams the moment he showed up.

I'd have been better off not tempting him into anything more when I should have been walking straight into the friend-zone.

Which I do, faster than he can say "Just friends."

It doesn't matter that he spends more time in my apartment than his or that he smiles at me in a way that makes my stomach flip.

That's just Tucker.

Before I know it, he's my best friend.

And completely off-limits.

A weekend away is our downfall, and I pack my bag so full, I can't fit my logic.

Because Tucker would be fine.

But I'd end up in Trouble with the Guy Next Door.

5 Stars!

I am a sucker for curvy girls getting some love kind of books. I find them relatable and, most of the time, pretty hilarious. Bottoms Up was exactly the kind of read I was looking for and excelled my expectations. It was funny, sweet, sexy, and a lot of fun to read. It had an amazing pair of besties and some hot, but noisy, neighbors.
This book was un-put-downable. I gobbled it up in one setting. Kennedy was my kind of gal. I loved her. Tucker... Ugh! I want one of him! He was drool worthy. He was just the great mix of funny, sweet, sexy, and alpha male. I loved how supportive he was of Kennedy. I loved how protective he was of her. Especially when it came to her family. Speaking of her family; they were awful. I'm glad she had Brooke. That girl was a great bestie for Kennedy. I really want a book with her and Liam. Something juicy is going on there and I need to know what that is!

If you love a curvy girl read then give this one a read. I loved it!

Happy reading dolls! xx

Aw wow let me just start by saying what a little beauty this piece of writing was. I enjoyed every second of it. I found myself smiling like an idiot at times and I just loved it.

Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review

Tucker is a strong and handsome man, he has his mind set and when he wants something done he does it, especially when it involves his little firecracker and watching his reactions and love for her is absolutely beautiful. He’s so protective and loving he made my heart melt, what a stunner.

Kennedy has grown up feeling like she’s worth nothing to no one. Her family are terrible and bring her down. Being a bigger woman and being told she’s too fat has her feeling insecure, she doesn’t trust many but when she does, it’s completely. Seeing her bring herself out of her shell with her best friends and Tuck is mesmerising. She’s a bigger woman but absolutely beautiful inside and out, her fucked up family are idiots. She’s loving and kind and an absolutely amazing woman who deserves all the best things in life and it’s Tucker who’s about to show her that.

Watching their relationship progress is fun, there’s so much fun times and let’s not forget the sexy times because hot damn, I need me a Tucker in my life lol. There’s also some sadness mixed into this and my heart nearly burst out of my chest, I was rooting for them from the beginning, ever since the Spanx incident ;)

The storyline and characters were on point, have if a plus sized heroine just made me love it that much more. Holly did an awesome job with this one. It’s my first read by this lovely author and definitely won’t be my last.

Holly Renee is a brand new author to me and my first impression was blown away! I absolutely ADORED Bottoms Up! The characters were amazing - with the female lead being my FAVORITE and the storyline flowed just effortlessly! Sexy, sassy, sweet, and smart, BOTTOMS UP was an instant WINNER for me!

"No one had ever had the power to hurt me like he did. He had the power to change everything.”

I think what made this book so REAL to me was our heroine, Kennedy. I LOVED HER instantly because she was so relatable with her bookworm mentality and her love for all things Harry Potter. She had some insecurities about her weight thanks to her douchebag ex-boyfriends and her horrible, HORRIBLE family, but she still carried confidence when it mattered. I strive to be like that daily and reading how Kennedy had good days and bad, made me feel better about myself, and it reminded me how that was OK.

The male lead in BOTTOMS UP is Tucker. Oh sweet, sexy, gorgeous, cocky Tucker. He put a smile on my face with each turn of the page. His genuine adoration for Kennedy made my heart melt. The way he treated her as a friend and as a lover was absolutely beautiful. Together, these two set the pages on fire! Their chemistry was insane once they got past the ‘friend-zone’. They didn’t have the best first meeting - pure annoyance turned into witty and flirtatious banter. Which then turned into a beautiful friendship with an underlying sexual attraction. Then the gloves were off folks! When they both discovered they wanted each other on a deeper level, they couldn’t grab onto one another fast enough. The rest is history...so they say.

”I didn’t want a perfect fairy tale with anyone else. I didn’t need a happily ever after. All I needed was whatever he was willing to give. I needed it like my last breath.”

Before I sign off, I wanted to give a shout-out to the secondary characters in this story. Liam, Brooke, Sophie, Chloe, and Jase. I LOVED THEM ALL and I can only hope that Holly Renee has big plans for this group. Lord knows there is already some ammunition to work with that came out of BOTTOMS UP! Kennedy and Tucker’s beautiful love story has gotten me pumped up for this series! This was a FANTASTIC START and I can’t wait to see what the author brings us next!

I’m going to start off by saying I’ve been experiencing the mother of all book slumps. Like, kindle unlimited is going to revoke my membership for the amount of books I return after just a half hour, kind of book slump.

Needless to say, I went into The Trouble with the Guy Next Door with the bar set pretty low. Color me surprised when I ended up loving this. It’s funny, sweet, sexy and adorable in a way that didn’t piss me off. It ended up being just what I needed.

Fun, hot read!

This book is full of laughter, passion and lots of feels! Tucker and Kennedys book is the first in this series and had me glued to the screen the entire time. I really loved these two a lot. Kennedy had a lot of insecurities due to her family but Tucker was there for her and was so protective of her! This story covers so many feelings between families, friends and and the person you think you are. I look forward to more from Holly.

I love how Tucker was trying to be around her more and sneak his way in her life more. He's too cute! And I wasn't expecting him to be so dominant either the scenes..omg!! Kennedy was a breath of fresh air, she was just wonderful. She has her own issues and foibles but she was so utterly relatable to me, and Tucker...OMG Tucker, I adored him. I loved the story and it made me cry!! Very few books bring tears to my eyes and now I can add this one!!

I related to Kennedy and her insecurities. I felt her feelings as I read. This is a great book! I highly recommend it!!

✨Review Bottoms Up (The Rock Bottom Series, #1) by Holly Renee✨

“𝙏𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙮 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙢𝙪𝙘𝙝 𝙤𝙛 𝙖𝙣 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙢𝙚. 𝙄𝙛 𝙄 𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙙 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙤𝙤 𝙘𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚, 𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙮 𝙢𝙚. 𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙩𝙩𝙤𝙢𝙨 𝙪𝙥 𝙗𝙚𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙄 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙥𝙪𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙 𝙖𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙙”

I cannot express how much I absolutely adore Holly Renee. Her words, her characters, her storylines everything. Not only is she an amazing human being, but she is beyond talented and makes me want to write my own novel. After winning a giveaway from Holly back in April which was her entire collection of novels I couldn’t wait to dig into the ones I hadn’t read yet and that would be The Rock Bottom Series. Which definitely did not disappoint!

This book was a beautiful friends to lovers, curvy heroine, and cocky sexy neighbour all wrapped in one delicious package. Kennedy was REAL. I absolutely adored her character, the fact she was curvy and embraced it was everything to me and something you don’t see in a lot of romance novels. Although Kennedy may have confidence in her body everything outside of that is a struggle for her she is trying her best to also become confident in the career she has chosen that her parents definitely do not approve of she is trying to live out her dreams but is constantly doubting herself because of how her mother and father treat her.

Tucker is a sexy, goofy, cocky, sweetheart with a sexy as sin country accent and abs for days. When he first meets Kennedy his new neighbour something about her draws him in. He wants to see what’s underneath her hardened exterior. He totally dotes on her and wants her to see how amazing she is. Everyone needs a Tucker in their life. I highly recommend this beautiful, swoon worthy book.

WOAH BABY! Holly Renee your mind is a wonderful place and it dreams up the BEST BOOK BOYFRIENDS! Holy hot mama. Can I get some praise hands for TUCKER? Goodness that man!

Know what you get from this book? Let me tell you…

Explosive chemistry.. check!

A strong, emotional connection.. check!

Real, RELATABLE storyline.. check!

A hottttt, ALPHA male… check!

A CURVY, sexy heroine.. check!

Yep, all that and SO MUCH MORE is wrapped up in a delectable package called Bottoms Up. Holly Renee can do no wrong in my eyes. Her books pack so much heat and emotion and leave you addicted to her writing wizardry. Holly took on a real life issue for so many women in Bottoms Up. Kennedy is “plus size”, lacks confidence (don't take that to mean she's weak though), and doesn't think there is a guy that can LOVE HER. SO MANY women, I'm sure are in this exact situation and Holly NAILED the feelings we all get. After this it's fair to say, we'd all want our very own Tucker!

Bottoms Up is a delicious friends to lovers romance done in the most beautiful way!

MY RATING: 4/5 STARS

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Bottoms Up by Holly Renee is probably exactly what you imagined it would be when you see the cover and probably not. I really appreciated Holly for introducing a lot of the issues curvier girls tend to have when it comes to relationships and general self-esteem. She didn't focus too much on weight issues but rather listing the insecurities our heroine experienced and also going, okay, that's not that important when you actually see the stuff she goes through in her life. This was a refreshing way to read a romance featuring bigger women because it was empowering in a way when you see fully developed characters.

It tells the story of Kennedy, a curvy photographer, who has a toxic unsupportive family, low self-esteem, and an annoyingly hot neighbor living right beside her who seems to always be catching her during her most embarrassing moments. Kennedy for me was a decent character for me. She was strong when she had to be. She was smart, unwavering, and someone that made the other person work for her heart. However, because of her insecurities, she's also seen as terribly stubborn and she kind of has that mentality that no way a hot guy would ever be interested in her and the hot guy MUST be a player and there's just no way it'll work out. While I related so much to this, reading it can be frustrating at times because you just want to grab Kennedy and cheer her on!

Tucker, our storybook hero, is fun. I saw him as the guy that Kennedy saw. He loved loud music, fooling around in the middle of the night, making sassy remarks to which Kennedy replies back with, and he was a total sweet boy next door vibe. Literally. He knew that Kennedy wasn't going to let him into her heart with open doors. Tucker played by the rules by being a friend first and building that trust so Kennedy could see that he was very serious about them actually getting it on with each other. I loved this aspect of Tucker.

And the angst....Man oh man. Tucker could be a cold son of a person when you make him mad. It broke my heart but it also taught Kennedy that she can't jump to conclusions about everything.

The writing in Bottoms Up is glorious by the way. Holly writes with fluidity that I haven't seen in such a long time. She describes actions, scenery, and emotions so well. And her conversations are real. They make you feel like you're part of the conversation as well and it would be something you would say if you were in that position.

MY RECOMMENDATION:

READ IT! Holly is definitely an author I'm going to keep tabs on and read her new releases.

From the moment I met him, I knew he was trouble.

He was reckless, cocky, and everything I shouldn't want.

I had life all figured out, and Tucker Moore was not a part of the plan.

But somehow I slipped.

One moment I had it all under control.

The next I was spiraling around him, begging him for whatever he would give me.

But as quickly as I fell for him, it all crumbled around us.

Because everything I thought I knew was far from the truth.

There was only one way to fix what we had done.

So I turned my world Bottoms Up

Review : I loved this book it was cute and sexy
This is about Kennedy she is a plus size girl and she meets tucker her new neighbor and she thinks hes cocky and annoying. Kennedy is a photographer and loves taking photos of old buildings her family is full of complete assholes who dont care for kennedy and treat her like garbage. When tucker and kennedy start getting close she knows she has a thing for him but she knows he would never go for her when he invites Kennedy and her roommate on a trip with him and his friends they get really close and tucker gets jealous and they end up having sex but things when they get home become complicated her brother is engaged to a girl who treats her like crap. Kennedy also got this amazing job to shoot a new restaurant and it turns out liam and tucker own the place I saw that coming though . When Kennedy thinks that tucker is cheating on her she finds the first guy and brings him home so bad so bad and tucker kicks the guy out . But after the misunderstanding she knows she was wrong and has to talk to him . Her photos end up in an
architecture magazine and in there is an interview of him saying hes opening a bar called firework i was sobbing cause thats his nickname for her so Kennedy goes to the Halloween party and they makeuo and have sex on his desk . Then a year later her proposes it was adorable.

Quotes :

“So how much money did you win anyway?” “Oh, I didn’t win any money.” Chloe grinned wickedly. “But Liam and Jase now have to clean my apartment this weekend in their underwear.”

My camera was my safety net.

Those men in our books will never hold a candle to the Moore men. Remember that.” I giggled, but I knew exactly what she meant. Tucker was surpassing them all.

“You’re so beautiful for a bigger girl.” I couldn’t tell you how many times I had heard that non-compliment. It baffled me how anyone ever thought they were giving me kudos for managing to be pretty and thick. My second favorite was, “If you lost a few pounds, you’d be so much prettier.” I always wanted to respond with a, “Yeah? You’d be so much hotter with a few extras inches on your dick,” but I never did. I just smiled and pretended like calling me pretty with a disclaimer should make me happy.

What you reading?” “A book.” I didn’t mean to be a smart ass. I really didn’t, but I hated when someone talked to me when I clearly had my nose buried in my book

You were practically moaning over there. I think I know what you sound like when you’re about to come.” He chuckled at his own joke. “If that is what it sounds like when you’re about to make a woman come then you seriously need some practice.”

⭐️ 5 "Firecracker" Stars ⭐️
I made the “mistake” of starting the Rock Bottom Series with book two, then book three. I know they’re standalones, but I usually like to read series in order. After these sensational reads, I was really intrigued by Kennedy and Tucker and needed to read the beginning of their love story too! As much as I adored the other two novels, I think Trouble with the Guy Next Door was my favorite! Everything about this romance was so entertaining, light and sexy!

I just couldn’t get enough of Kennedy! That woman is amazing! She’s a dork and really cute with brazen repartees that had me laughing a lot! She always has the right sassy one-liners! Tucker also has a fantastic personality which make this pair so captivating. He’s confident, charming and teasing! The banter between this couple is playful and charged with an intense attraction. As much as Kennedy wants to deny her growing feelings for her new neighbor, their pull is tangible and undeniable! Their shared moments are so romantic and when their passion unleashes, it’s explosive and exquisite!

Holly Renee signed with the Trouble with the Guy Next Door another fast paced, magical romance that left me delighted!

My first ever Holly Renee book! I was super excited to read this since before it came out and I finally got around to reading it. And what can I say? I fell a little in love with the book since the first chapter.

As I kept reading the feeling just solidified. I loved both Renee's writing and the book as a whole. I enjoyed reading about these characters so much, and of course I absolutely fell in love with Tucker. He was completely swoon worthy! And I just adored him to pieces, I want my own Tucker. He's definitely one of my new book boyfriends. Yes, it's a fact by now, I'm a book boyfriend whore. Sue me. For real though, can you really blame me?!

“What look?” “The look where you wanted to do this.” He leaned his body down over mine and his hand went to my jaw. His face came down over me and his lips touched mine. The kiss was soft. Just barely there, but I felt it. I felt it so deep that I knew it was something that I would never forget. A soft, breathy moan slipped from my lips, and Tucker kissed me again. This kiss was very different from the last. His hand thrust into my hair and gripped it at the root to perfectly position me where he wanted me.

I enjoyed this book so much, I couldn't put it down. I finished it in one sitting, it was amazing, loads of fun, it was flirty and sweet, even a little angst-y, just perfect.

I absolutely loved this. Tucker was incredible and I really liked Kennedy too! Her self esteem was lacking due to years of putdowns by her snooty family. I’m so glad that Tucker helped her see herself the way he did. Such a quick read from page 1!

Lettura leggera e scorrevole.

Stiamo diventando buoni amici.»
«Mmm,» sorrise. Ma quel sorriso non mi piaceva proprio.
«Mmm, che?»
«Sicura che state diventando solo amici?

5 "Baby, you're a firework" Stars!!!

First and foremost, I NEED a Tucker Moore in my life!!! 😍😍😍 I mean that part where he...(toes curling) and when he said...(swoon-f***ing-tastic) oh, and that part where he did that thing and then, you know...(oomph, more, GIVE! ME! MORE! 😩) Seriously, Tucker Moore can get it again and again and again!!! I fell and fell and fell head-over-everything for him!!!

Kennedy, go on with your bad self!!! I so adored Kennedy so freaking much!!! She was a total spitfire. She was such a relatable character!!! She tried her best to not let her parents expectations of her to dictate her life. All she wanted was her family's approval. Despite everything, she just wanted them to care and love her. Or, at least someone to be in her corner.

Tucker crashed (literally) into Kennedy's life. Their encounter had me LOLing. It was the perfect beginning to how their relationship would go. Kennedy deserved everything Tucker wanted to give her. Sometimes she'd let her insecurities get the best of her, and she'd listen to those negative thoughts that told her she wasn't good enough. But Tucker was there to show her how wrong she was. 😩😩😩 Tucker was the ultimate, I just can't! The way he cared for Kennedy just made my heart melt. I adored him so much! Tucker and Kennedy completed each other. I couldn't get enough of these two.

Once I started 'Bottoms Up' I couldn't put it down and read it in one sitting. And when that happens, you know the book is goooood! I loved how relatable it was. I loved the relationship between Kennedy and her best friend Brooke. I obviously loved the chemistry between Tucker and Kennedy! And I absolutely couldn't get enough of the secondary characters!!! I hope in the future we see them again or a few get their own book! I wonder what else Holly has up her sleeves. And I can't wait to read whatever it may be.

Tucker and Kennedy's story is friends to lovers, couples goals, everything you could ever want in a book, magic. From the second they first laid eyes on each other in the most awkwardly hilarious meet cute, I was hooked. I was sold on Tucker and his sweet southern accent and Kennedy definitely won me over with her unique blend of sweet and spunk but at the same time insecure and dealing with family issues.

Kennedy and her BFF and roommate, Brooke are both living their best life trying to be successful at their dream jobs when two super hot guys, Tucker and Liam from Tennessee move in right next door. Kennedy quickly thinks Tucker is super hot but she knows his type all too well, and there is no way he would ever go for a curvy girl like her... Or so she thinks. They quickly become really great friends and have fantastic banter. All of their interactions are so amazing to read. Tucker is fun, flirty, playful and straight up freaking hot!! He is charming and so sweet, then he says something that is legit hotter than biscuits and gravy. 🔥🥵🔥

Overall this was such a good book. This Georgia girl is a sucker for a southern accent and a good friends to lovers story, add in that the male main character is a dirty talker and lawd have mercy y’all!! The secondary characters were phenomenal and some even get their own stories in follow up books! Oh Yeah!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 This book may be a few years old ( originally published as Bottoms Up in 2017) but is still fantastic and definitely worth devouring today!

Boring. The hero was like a background character.

I feel like it was kismet that I received a copy of Bottoms Up, I didn't see any teasers, I didn't read the blurb, I just dove straight in and it was absolute perfect timing that I met Kennedy and Tucker right now.

Insecurities. We all have them but sometimes they can really affect our day to day.

Kennedy Hayes is living her dream and capturing some of the best moments in a couples life by taking their photos. Weddings. Engagements. Her favorite shots are of old architecture. She lives with her best friend Brooke and life couldn't get much better. If you ignore the fact that her family continuously puts her down for the choices she's made, belittles her, comments on her weight and every snide comment is said with the utmost of disapproval in their tone.

So when she literally bumps into her new hot neighbor she doesn't understand or get what he sees in her. So many years of listening to her family and not truly seeing herself and her worth has conditioned her to expect the worst. But Tucker definitely sees her. The true her.

Tucker and Kennedy start this amazing friendship that was so sweet and loving and I honestly just wanted them to rip their clothes off and GET DOWN lol. I wanted Kennedy to see herself the way Tucker does and eventually she does but she goes on major journey to get there.

Surprise trips, jealousy issues, back stabbing mean girls, unworthy parents, lies, secrets and a first date to end ALL FIRST dates is what's in store for you with this amazing story. I couldn't put this one down and I can't wait to read what's next from Holly!

Yet another pathetic excuse for a heroine who gets turned on by listening to the 'hero' bang a multitude of women 🤮.
The 'hero' is the generic, smirking POS man whore that writers mistake for an Alpha male.

The heroine is 'curvy,' which is the PC word nowadays for 'fat.' But can these writers ever write a thick chick who is strong and owns herself as she is? Oh hell no. Because heaven forbid that any heroine not be laden with a shed load of annoying issues. Mummy issues, daddy issues, sibling issues, self-acceptance issues, issues with making a spineless fool of herself for a rude, pump-and-dump jackhole.

Don't tell me a heroine is strong or spirited when she repeatedly makes her pathetic lust so obvious or continues to grovel for the approval of terrible parents who missed the memo that UNconditional love for your children is not an optional choice, but a requirement.

Also, masturbation scenes are tacky and unappealing. Grow the fuck up.

I hate everything about this book, and it's disheartening to discover another writer who clearly dislikes her gender.

Definitely earned her place on my avoid list.

I picked this one up randomly, it has good reviews and I’ve never read anything from this author before, so I figured I’d give it a go.

This had a childish vibe... and I generally find it hard to sink into a story when the main character reacts to situations completely different to what I would. I found Kennedy quite angry and aggressive - I think it was supposed to come across in a cute, witty, fiery way, but it isn’t my favourite trait in characters.

The plot was predictable.
Tucker was a total Gary-Stu.
It was super over the top, cliche, cheesy, “too good to be true” in multiple places.
Kennedy was SUPER insecure, which was exhausting after a while.
And the conflict was all miscommunication based...

But hey, despite all of those flaws, this was a quick and easy ready. I don’t necessarily know if there was enough here to read more by this author, and I skimmed a little in the second half. But hey, this was okay.
