"I can't pay." She took another step forward. It brought her level with his outstretched legs. One more tiny step brought her between them. "But I have a proposition."
LUCAS LEBRAY is the biggest, baddest wolf in town. A sexy shifter who likes to pretend there isn't much more to him than fun and games. He owns the local garage, which just happens to be directly across the street from the deli owned by the only woman he's ever wanted down to his bones. The problem is, she's miles out of his reach. Deserves better than dirty, oil-soaked hands and the wolf that goes with them.
SOFIA RIVERA is hard up. Hot and bothered and the only thing that is going to help, is a dose of Luc LeBray. She's seen the tricksy wolf's hidden core of integrity, through the plate glass windows of her store. Some nights, she'll turn out the lights and watch him across the street, taking things apart and putting them back together. The way she wants him to do to her.
So she devises what should have been a simple plan. She takes a wrench to her car's engine and makes Lucas a scandalous offer.
Trade services.
When she whispers those words in his ear, Lucas' resolve to do the right thing snaps and Sofia finds herself the focus of a silver-eyed wolf who demands everything she has.
Wolf Down is the third book in bestselling author Novalee Swan's Shifter Town series. It features her trademark heat and emotional intensity and is perfect for readers who love sexy shifter alphas and small-town charm.
I'm just a girl from down under who writes paranormal and contemporary romance. I love travel, my dog Emma, and creating sexy alpha heroes who know how to scorch the sheets — with the right woman.
I got the majority of the books in this series on sale last year because they looked interesting and looking back at it, it was a very good decision ;) for the last few months I’ve been determined to make a solid dent in my Kindle tbr so when I found this series there I figured out I would give it a try, cause it would be a win either way :) either I will love it and can read it with pleasure or I won’t like it and it still will take off four books of my tbr :) and I ended up absolutely loving them :) since I read them one after another, including getting the fifth, and currently last one available, so I can binge all of them, I will write one review with a few words about each book, because I would have to repeat a lot of the things about the series in general so why not make it easier for me ;)
this is an urban fantasy / paranormal series set in an alternate version of our world where paranormal creatures are living out in the open and people know about them :) it takes place in this small-ish town where a lot of them live, hence the name of the series Shifter Town (it’s a nickname of the town) each story technically can be read as a standalone, but I would very highly recommend you to read them in order, cause the main characters are always a strong presence in other books and it will be definitely easier to follow all the connections if you read them that way :) the first three are novellas and the other two full length novels :) I absolutely adore the writing style of Novalee Swan :) she creates great characters and then gives them amazing romances :) there is always a ton of chemistry and banter, phenomenal friendships and all around great fun :) I adore that she doesn’t take these stories too seriously so even though some of them might feel a bit rushed they are always an awesome source of entertainment :)
book #1 Bear temptation 4 stars first novella that surprised me in the best possible way :) and even though there is a bit of weird pacing (as in a time jump that fits a bit awkwardly in the story) the romance between Kelly and Reid was good enough for me to fall in love with this series :)
book #2 Caging Ash 4 stars usually I am not a fan of those stories where a couple dances around each other for a long time without doing anything about it, but somehow this one worked… maybe cause it focused on the actual action part ;) I liked it a bit less than the first one, but it was still a good entertainment
book #3 Wolf down 3,5 stars the last novella and my least favourite in the series, mainly because it really should have been longer, especially if you take into account the issues Lucas has… he struggles with some serious shit and we don’t really have the time in this story to really deal with it… nonetheless, it was a solid addition to the series
book #4 Bear essentials 5 stars my favourite so far :) what the previous stories lacked (mostly because they were too short) this one delivers plenty :) we have a slower build of the relationship, with all that delicious tension and great chemistry :) there are friendships forming, with a lot of appearances from all the previous couples as well as introducing some new characters, most of which will for sure get stories in the future (or so I hope) also, it includes some of my favourite tropes in books :) we have a big, mostly silent guy who looks terrifying, but is just the sweetest teddy bear in the world :) and we have Lily, who has a hard past behind her and now she’s working to rebuild her life… add to it a slow building romance and it was a done deal for me :) also, the writing style gets even better when you have a full length novel to build the story
book #5 Ever unbroken 5 stars this one surprised me :) I’m not gonna lie, I was more curious about other characters getting their own story first, but I was hopeful I would still love this one and damn… it was soooo good :) I loved Renkin Jones and his twin brother before but Sabine was a bit of a mystery for me… mainly because she kept her distance from everyone… but the more I read and learned about her, the more I understood her attitude… because once we learn more about her past and why she acts this way… once we get under that attitude and shell she puts up before the world… *sighs* watching these two fall for each other was wonderful… we also get a few more potential couples for future books and I need them all in my hands ASAP
honestly, I can’t believe more people haven’t heard about this series :) I highly recommend you to check it out :) it’s fun and super entertaining, perfect if you want to escape reality for a while :)

This one was good but not as good as book one/two. I liked Sofia and Lucas but something was missing in their story. Anyways: enjoyable and quick read!
First big stumble of the series. I didn’t enjoy the hero’s openly admitting to using other women to “get over” the heroine and the way the story wrapped up was unsatisfying. The rest of the characters I enjoyed seeing tour that’s about it. Since I already started I can’t stop (my completist tendencies working against me) so I’m onto the next book.
This whole series is one I've enjoyed (I've read 4 of the 5 titles out now), and they all fall between 3-4 stars to different degrees. Overall, I've enjoyed them enough that I round up.
Lucas is a mechanic, a wolf shifter with a rough past he's trying to escape. Sofia owns the restaurant/deli across the street from his garage. Mutual attraction simmers beneath the surface, but Lucas is avoiding the relationship, thinking he's not good enough for Sofia. When she's finally had enough and moves to break their stalemate, how will he react?
This one has been my favorite so far. Not so much for the "trading services" gimmick, but because there's a bit more emotional development between the two. Lucas seriously thinks he's not worthy of her (or a mate at all), and chases every skirt in town instead. Sofia is strong enough to stand up and make a move for what she wants, even being 'just human.' I loved the wolf wooing Sofia, but the ending was my favorite. I still enjoy the side characters too, and am looking forward to seeing them match up. And we've introduced some new faces moving into town!
Biggest complaint was the editing. While the rest of the series has been pretty good so far, this one had a new very non-Americanisms (the author is Australian, and this is the first time it really showed). No one in Tennessee would talk about a windscreen, and the proper spelling in the US is "curb" not "kerb." Yes, I know, it's not technically incorrect as far as the English language goes, but it's a little jarring when you're reading about small town Tennessee, and someone talks about a windscreen.
It's a steamy and quick read. Nothing really new in the world of shifter romances, but still entertaining. A little bit more angst than the first two books, and definitely more character development, but still plenty of steam. If that's what you're looking for at the moment, this is an entertaining way to get there.
Alternating 3rd person POV. Prior to their relationship, Lucas is a bit of a dog (haha!) but once he focuses on Sofia, he's focused. No cheating, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle nonsense. Some angst on both parts, but nothing too heavy. Overall, another light but steamy story, good for a quick bit of escapism. HEA with no cliffhanger, and we've introduced some new characters, Lily and Connor, who'll be up front in book 4 - Bear Essentials.
Would I read more in the series? Yup. It's a series I've read more than once now. Light, steamy escapism, quick reads, with characters I enjoy.
I did enjoy this book. It's a great write and the chemistry between the two characters is well written. I haven't given it 5 stars because... I'm not sure I like how Sophia's character had to 'change' for Lucas to pull his bloody finger out. Being a mum I like to tell my daughter that if a boy doesn't like her for who she is, then he isn't worth it. Sophia seems to not feel good enough for him, sees herself as not pretty enough. Which I don't think is right. I'm glad that Lucas seemed to like her before that, but felt the same like he wasn't good enough for her. But it took Sohpia changing who she is slightly (even if it was only for a short while) for him to take a chance...
The sexual chemistry and scenes were absolutely on point. Trading sex to fix a car... I wouldn't do that but well it worked. I'm intrigued about Lucas' family and where he came from and I wonder if they will come out more down the line in the series??
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Who is a better shifter, wold, bear or lion, only one missing now is a dragon. But dang it I love them all, can't help it, all Alpha males and ever so protective of the mates.
LUCAS LEBRAY is wolf in town. A sexy shifter who just ignores all, takes any woman to bed as his bed is a revolving door, oh you sneaky wolf. SOFIA RIVERA is a sexy woman, who can't help but keep an eye on Lucas, she want him bad, but does not believe she has a chance, wish that did not make me laugh. They are made for each other. But will they admit that, read to find out. Great story, flows well and read fast, oh and the characters are wow.
If sexy ain't what you looking for, then don't get this book. From Chapter One, it was popping. I'm not crazy about wolf shifters, but I am in love with Lucas LeBray. A man that comes from a family of buttholes and still stands on his own. From his lion and bear best friends to the woman that loves the sweat dripping off his chest. Great book!!! Only problem was it ended too soon. Please read this book and you will love the sex and the fighting which was so good. Good job.
Lust was definitely in the air. And putting things into action to get needs met comes about in a hilarious way. This is a short and sassy read with fun characters. The little town is unique and the shifter idea here is altogether different than most with cohabitation between species. Sophia is fiery and determined. Luckily is strong willed and extra alpha. Their collision is incendiary.
This is the third book in this great 👍 series and a wonderful addition. Lucas,is from "the wrong side of the tracks" and doesn't believe he is worthy of someone like Sophia. Sophia on the other hand is doing her best to get next to Luc. When the tables are turned, the fun begins.
She runs a deli, he's the mechanic across the road, she's been in love with him for years but he never even hit on her. So she takes a wrench to her cars motor, and heads across the street that evening to make him an offer she hopes he won't refuse.
Big bad wolf from the wrong side of the tracks. It so he thinks. Small sweet woman seemingly unlovable. You would think that two misfits would be more likely to get together easier. But noo, both of them have to make it difficult. And that is part of what makes this story so good. I purchased this book and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
This is a wam-bam thank you ma’am. I remember when sillouettes and the filler books between series were labeled as such. This book was listed as no.3 in the series but other than boy and girl get together. Boy/girl have and then decide their in love there was no story.... at all. What a loss of potential.
My least favourite book of the series so far. The couples from previous books had some sort of relationship before mating which I liked. But in this book, Lucas was a jerk for most of it and treated Sofia and like crap which I didn’t like. Their mating was rushed, and there was nothing more to their relationship outside of sex.
Bought the first book in this series. It was so good i had to read it in one sitting. Then immediately bought the whole series! This book 3 is just so hot and amazing. If you haven't read Novalee's books you need to!!!
Loses a star cuz of ending even though but was cute as heck. I simply adore this series each story gets better and better. There was no villain or ex-bf just two people figuring out how to love each other
I love this series! Incredibly well written, hilarious, and great characters who enthrall you from page one! I binge read books 1-4 in 24 hours! Couldn't put them down! I highly recommend checking them out!
Didnt realise it was a short book. Was good, not as good as the rest though, too short, no story development . Best bit was the introduction to Seren and Lily. Hope there will be a story about Seren.
Wolf Down – Novalee Swan – As the last girl in her trio unmated, Sophia decides to go after Lucas the wolf mechanic across the street from her bakery. Though both of them advance to the rear at the least sign of trouble, love won’t let them stay away from each other for long! Happy Reading!
This is a fun story that had deep feelings and emotions. Sometimes love is not easy to figure out. But the ride might be fun if you can get your feelings out of the way. I did see many misspelled words but this did not deter me from enjoying the book.
Sweet Lucas. I loved the story of Sophia and Lucas, it was heart wrenching and tender all at the same time. I love that new Shifters are arriving in town all the time. Yes! More stories.
Another wonderfully fun visit to the shifter town of Rosewood and our motley crew of friends. Sofia has wanted Lucas for years can she finally make her dreams come true?
