Filosofia cristã para leigos: Rudimentos de uma cosmovisão

Rate this book
Everyone has a worldview. A worldview is a set of beliefs, a system of thoughts, about the most important issues of life. One's worldview is his philosophy. "Worldview" and "philosophy" are virtually synonymous words. Great thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Augustine, and Thomas Aquinas, each had a system of belief regarding philosophy, that was written out in a systematic fashion. Each system expressed the worldview of the particular philosopher. But even though they may not realize it, all (mature) persons necessarily and inescapably have a worldview, a philosophical system of thought, as well. Their worldview may not be written out, or as well systematized as the four thinkers mentioned above, but they have a worldview nonetheless. This little book intends to raise the reader's self-consciousness about his worldview so that he might gain a clearer understanding of a Christian worldview. In the opinion of the present writers Christianity is the only viable worldview or philosophy. Scripture teaches us, as the Westminster Shorter Catechism (Q 1) aptly states, that "man's chief end is to glorify God (1 Cor 10:31; Rom 11:36), and to enjoy Him forever (Psa 73:25- 28)." This being so, we are enjoined to adopt a philosophy that honors God. We need, as the apostle Paul states, a philosophy that is "according to Christ" (Colossians 2:8). Within this Made Easy Series book you will find the outlines of a Christian philosophy based on the axiom of divine revelation, the Word of God.
